EPCOT’s World Showcase is a chance to travel around the world without ever having to leave Florida. Not only do you get to visit pavilions that represent countries from all over the world, but you also get to dine and shop as if you were visiting that country. We’re trying something new! One of our favorite things, though, is learning about different cultures and food from around the world, and we just recently discovered a new way to drink beverages in EPCOT that we HAVE to tell you about. So, let’s head on over to the Japan Pavilion (one of our favs) and try an Ice Box for the very first time! Our new cultural beverage adventure started at Mitsukoshi, where we discovered the Ice Box for $4.49. This is basically a cup of grapefruit-flavored crushed ice that’s popular in Japan during hot weather. You can eat it directly with a spoon or pour another drink over it and use it as a mixer. Grapefruit Ice Box What’s most interesting about it is that it’s formulated with sodium, vitamin C, and citric acid, so there are some good things in there, too, to help take care of your body on a hot day. It’s flavored crushed ice A Cast Member from Japan told us it’s popular to pour Kirin or other beverages over the ice, so we also picked up the Kirin Salty Lychee Soft Drink for $4.99, which is sort of like a rehydration drink. It’s like Gatorade, but with less salt and natural flavors. We poured that over the ice…and let me tell you, this is what EVERYONE should drink on these hot Florida days. The combination of flavors also worked so well together, and it’s not sickeningly sweet. Mix it up with another drink! It’s also just fun to do this little ritual, rather than just grabbing some random cold thing ot drink. It just makes it all feel that much more special. So, if you want to take some time to really enjoy some refreshment in EPCOT, pop on over to Mitsukoshi. We’ll keep an eye out for more unique snacks and drinks in Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for more. The Disney parks are known for many things! Delicious snacks, amazing attractions, and classic characters are just a few that come to mind. Castle of Magical Dreams at Hong Kong Disneyland They’re also known for the heat and how quickly it can ruin your day if you’re unprepared. Hong Kong Disneyland is now implementing new changes to try and beat the heat this year! This year, Hong Kong’s summer weather has had periods of extreme heat, high humidity, and even storms! That sounds like a local Florida theme park we know. To combat the weather, Hong Kong Disneyland is making some changes. First, they introdued and exclusive ticket called “Summer Chill.” This is a 4 PM entry ticket offer for Hong Kong residents. They can get in the park from 4 PM until close to avoid the worst periods of weather during the day. Tickets cost $480 HKD, which is roughly $62 USD. Hong Kong Disneyland entrance They have also focused on weather-conscious designs throughout the park. The resort has used a combination of environmental designs and infrastructure enhancements to help combat the weather. Disney Imagineers studied sunlight, temperature, humidity, and winds in their design decisions for some big changes. Wayfinders’ Table in Adventureland is a great example of this! ©Disney Disney designed this new quick service with things like sun exposure and ventilation in mind for guests. They did this by using hard roof materials and specific airflow planning to reduce heat buildup. This can also serve as a shelter from rain for guests and Cast Members! Disney also uses canopies, trees, and fans at the Moana: A Homecoming Celebration show for the same reasons. Hong Kong Disneyland It’s not just about new infrastructure though! Hong Kong Disneyland has also focused on improving airflow with the use of energy-efficient ceiling fans. These fans are located at entrances and ticketing areas. In the queue, Disney has upgraded their axial fans to enhance airflow while you’re in line. There are roughly 860 fans in the park now. They also have mobile units they can move around so they can be flexible as new needs pop up. They also added these portable units in different outdoor zones! You can also find mist cooling fans at outdoor locations, plus extra shade has been added to lines and dining areas. World of Frozen in Hong Kong Need some water? No problem! There are 40 free water dispensers across the resort and almost half of those dispense water 50% faster. This keeps lines shorter and guests more hydrated. Okay, the Disney World folks are getting jealous right now! Summer Snow Day soft-serve Disney is also making sure its Cast Members are being taken care of! The park is continuously reviewing and updating operational choices for those Cast Members working outdoors. The outdoor Cast Members are wearing outdoor-specific costumes that have been designed with breathable, moisture-wicking materials. They’re also given extra breaks, hydration support, and access to cooling facilities as needed. These measures are all taken into account during times of extreme weather conditions. The Disney Ambassadors have even given our electrolyte drink powder and chilled water to these Cast Members working in outdoor areas. Disney Friends Live at the Castle at Hong Kong Disneyland Finally, Disney is adding “cooling moments” into its storytelling! Guests can go between indoor attractions, dining venues, and entertainment options throughout the resort to help during those harsh conditions. They’re adding entertainment like the Pixar Summer Fest, which invites guests to beat the heat while enjoying entertainment. There’s a Pixar Water Play Street Party where Pixar characters are participating in a water parade. Guests can also enjoy Pixar-inspired treats like a Lime Dole Whip with Pineapple Slush Float at Jessie’s Snack Roundup, Monsters, Inc.-inspired Mike Wazowski Ice Cream Bar, Toy Story Alien Ice Cream Bar, and Sulley-inspired Mint Chocolate Flavored Soft Serve Stay Cool! These are just a few ways that Disney is working to beat the heat in Hong Kong, which we love! Can Disney World start doing the same? We will wait (semi) patiently. They are working on outsmarting the weather over in Orlando and other U.S. locations through their newest weather app updates! ©AccuWeather Disney partnered with AccuWeather to create the Disney Weather Check powered by the AccuWeather mobile app. The new app addition allows access to real-time weather updates and location-specific notifications. The change is available to those visiting Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort, Aulani, a Disney Resort and Spa, Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, and Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort. This gives you area-specific updates rather than a general alert, which can be really helpful in the parks! ©AccuWeather This new app change, but those Hong Kong updates just show how Disney is working to be even smarter than Mother Nature. Maybe that famous faux dome will become a reality. As always, be sure to keep following DFB for more Disney news, updates, and more. Here at Disney Food Blog, we’re at Disney World all day, every day, almost 24/7. Partly because it’s our job, and partly because we just love it! But one thing we don’t love? The INTENSE Florida heat! A good fan can save your trip! We love testing products to keep us cool while we’re out and about in the parks, so we set out to test new finds for thousands of hours at Disney World. This tiny but mighty handheld fan won gold! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. This Handheld Mini Fan is the best fan we’ve ever tried! JISULIFE 3 IN 1 Handheld Mini Fan This Handheld Mini Fan has two fan settings, high and low, to keep you cool on any occasion. It might be small, but it really packs a punch, which is especially helpful if you’re not used to the Florida heat. It features a rechargeable battery with up to 19 hours of cooling time on a single charge, which we found to be very true. It easily lasts for our whole park day from rope drop to fireworks! The JISULIFE Fan This Handheld Mini Fan is super compact, too. It folds nicely to take up as little space as possible in your bag. Sometimes, we even carry it in our pocket! We loved how small this fan is, since most we’ve tried are bulky and hard to carry around all day. Plus, it has the cutest bear face detail when it’s folded up! It’s a little bear! This fan has a little secret too: It’s multifunctional, so not only is it a handheld fan, but it also doubles as a flashlight and charger! It has USB-A and USB-C ports to charge your phone or other electronics on the go. The flashlight is great for a night at the park while looking in your bag or eating outside. It’s super convenient since it doubles as a charger and flashlight, so if you need one or both while at the parks, you’ll have less to carry around in your bag all day. The secret charger! We’ve tried hundreds of portable fans, cooling towels, and other gadgets to beat the heat, but this little guy reigns supreme every time. Get it now while it’s on sale! view ON AMAZON We’re always on the hunt for the latest and greatest Disney souvenirs and essentials, so don’t forget to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more! When planning a visit to Universal Orlando, it can be difficult to decide what you should eat on your trip and what you should skip. Universal Which is why we are here! We make sure to review food items across all of Universal Orlando, so you know what you need to prioritize on your next trip. And we recently stopped by the cutest (and most mischievous) restaurant in Universal Studios. On our last trip to Universal Studios, we visited Minion Cafe to try two items. This restaurant is themed to the Minions and full of fun details and a hilarious atmosphere. Minion Cafe First up, we grabbed Jerry’s Mega Cheesy Burger for $18.99. This is a 7 oz. all-beef patty, American cheese, crispy bacon, lettuce, tomato, on a house-made brioche bun, served with Minion tots, and a side of cheese sauce. Jerry’s Mega Cheesy Burger This burger was really well cooked and had a wonderfully soft brioche bun. It absolutely melts in your mouth! The burger itself was a little pink and very juicy. Also, it had lots of bacon on top with cheese, lettuce, and tomato. Jerry’s Mega Cheesy Burger The lettuce was super crispy, and the fresh tomatoes were surprisingly good. The cheese sauce on the side was very delicious but a little overpowering on the burger, so we would suggest keeping it on the side to enjoy with your crispy Minion tots. Overall, if you’re looking for a delicious and well-made burger, this is an amazing option. Jerry’s Mega Cheesy Burger We also grabbed Otto’s Carbonara for $20.99. This is made with yellow cavatappi, garlic cream sauce, pancetta, and peas. We are almost always pleasantly surprised by the food at the restaurant, and this item is no different! The carbonara was super creamy and flavorful, with every noodle coated in the great Alfredo sauce. Otto’s Carbonara There were lots of peas, which tasted very fresh, and the bacon was well cooked. Every bite was filled with creaminess and very pleasant to eat. The pasta was cooked extremely well, and the dusting of Parmesan cheese complemented the flavor in a nice way. This was a fun and unique take on a carbonara and came with a huge portion that could definitely be split. Otto’s Carbonara Also be ready with your camera because this one comes out to your table with a fun presentation. If you want something unique, filling, and well-made, then we would definitely suggest trying this one on your next visit to Universal Studios. Otto’s Carbonara We always love taking a trip to Minion Cafe and think that it is worth a try when you visit Universal Studios. There are SO many changes going on around Disney World these days. ©Disney A new land is opening even MORE attractions in September, Magic Kingdom is expanding, and there’s a new hotel on the horizon. Over in Hollywood Studios, Monstropolis is slowly coming to life, and now 2 major changes show we are one step closer to experiencing the land! Get ready to roar with excitment! If you’re a Monsters Inc. fan, you’re probably like us and you’ve been following every step of the Hollywood Studios construction. During our latest stop by the park, there were two major changes that had us squeeling with excitement. First, we spotted some new chompers in the area! Construction in the land On the building that was previously home to PizzeRizzo‘s (RIP), we noted some new detailing along the top of the building. We noticed new scrims along the building a few weeks ago and now it seems like we can tell what Disney is going to hide. The detailing along the top of the building looks like new monster teeth. The detailing is along the top of the building, around the windows, and above the bathroom entrance. A closer look! If you take a closer look at Disney’s concept art, you can see those chompers around the top of the building and (potentially) along the windows. This means we are seeing the concept art come to life in even the smallest ways, which is a sign we are getting closer to the land being complete. ©Disney The second major detail is over at Harryhausen’s! The new table service is inspired by the sushi restaurant from the film and it will even be complete with the famous facade. Those massive chopsticks from the film are standing tall! THE CHOPSTICKS! These chopsticks will eventually hold a large eyeball in between them, but nothing is staring at us…yet! The outside of the building is almost entirely hidden behind those construction walls, but these chop sticks seem like a huge milestone to us. ©Disney At the time of writing, Disney has yet to reveal an opening timeline for the land, but they have shared lots of details! The land will take place after the events of Monsters Inc. when Monstropolis is being fueled with laughter. The monsters have decided to welcome humans into the land and the first ever H.U.M.A.N. Day is upon us! This is better known as Humans Understand Monsters Are Nice Day. ©Disney The day is all about connecting and sharing Monster culture, which we will get to experience! Disney has shared, “Human guests will have the chance to explore the city, meet its citizens, taste unique cuisine, and step into the everyday world of monsters in a totally new way. For the first time, two worlds once separated are meeting face to scaly, furry, and fang-filled face – brought together not by screams, but by laughter.” The new land will house a first of its kind Monsters Inc. hanging coaster, a new show, and new dining locations. ©Disney We are seriously excited to see the new land come to life and we’re hoping we get even more info at this year’s D23 event in Anaheim! Amazon has been quietly adding new Disney Loungeflys recently, and several of them already look destined for the great Loungefly disappearing act. You know the one. A bag appears, Disney fans collectively lose their minds, and suddenly the only listing left is being sold by someone named BargainWizard987 for the price of a moderate Disney World hotel. Loungefly bags in EPCOT We found seven new and newly popular Loungefly bags worth seeing before that happens. There are options for Disneybounders, Halloween people, Pixar fans, and anyone who believes Tigger deserves a larger role in their accessories collection. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. We’re not saying that we’re Disney Loungefly addicts. But we do have a healthy observational awareness of great Disney merchandise. And when we see awesome stuff that we know our friends (like YOU) will love, we compile it all together into a handy-dandy storefront for your online shopping convenience (and because we love the aesthetic of seeing all of our favorite stuff in one place). SEE OUR FULL LOUNGEFLY STOREFRONT Loungefly Disney Tangled Pascal Figural Crossbody Bag Pascal has spent years sitting on Rapunzel’s shoulder, hiding in flower arrangements, and silently judging Flynn Rider. Let’s face it, he has earned his own handbag. This new Pascal Figural Crossbody Bag turns Rapunzel’s tiny green confidant into a full statement piece. It is shaped like Pascal himself, complete with his round eyes, curled tail, and an extendable tongue. Yes, the tongue comes out. ©Amazon Look at his little tongue! This is also an excellent Disneybounding bag. Pair it with a purple dress, a floral skirt, or a Rapunzel-inspired braid, and Pascal does most of the character work for you. He can also rescue an otherwise ordinary park outfit from becoming another T-shirt-and-shorts situation. The bag was released as part of Loungefly’s new Tangled collection, and Pascal is already listed as low stock through Loungefly. That does not guarantee Amazon will sell out immediately, but it is enough to make us stop casually browsing and start making decisions. view ON AMAZON Loungefly Disney Pixar A Bug’s Life Princess Atta Mini Backpack A Bug’s Life does not receive nearly enough merchandise. Disney has approximately 400 varieties of Stitch available at any given moment, while Princess Atta is usually expected to survive on our memories and one VHS tape from 1999. That makes this Princess Atta Cosplay Mini Backpack especially exciting. ©Amazon The real surprise is the removable crown and antennae headband. You can wear the ears with the backpack, remove them when your head needs a break, and store them for later. It is essentially a complete Disney outfit starter kit disguised as one purchase. This would be especially cute for an Animal Kingdom day, a Pixar-themed Disneybound, or anyone who has spent the past 28 years asking Disney to remember that A Bug’s Life exists. view ON AMAZON Loungefly Disney Pixar Monsters, Inc. Henry J. Waternoose Cosplay Mini Backpack We did not have “Mr. Waternoose becomes a fashion icon” on our Loungefly bingo card, but here we are. The former Monsters, Inc. CEO has been turned into a tweed mini backpack with a three-dimensional bow tie, embroidered details, and multiple dangling legs that swing while you walk. It is strange, and niche, and exactly the sort of Disney bag that makes another fan stop and do a double-take. ©Amazon This could become a particularly fun choice for future Monstropolis outfits at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Sulley and Mike will undoubtedly dominate most of the merchandise, so carrying Waternoose feels like taking the scenic route through Pixar fandom. It is a little villainous, slightly ridiculous, and much more interesting than picking the obvious character. The swinging spider legs alone deserve a moment. view ON AMAZON Loungefly Disney Winnie the Pooh Characters Mystery Mini Backpack Keychain Charm Sometimes a full-size Loungefly is not enough. Sometimes your Loungefly needs its own Loungefly. These Winnie the Pooh mystery charms look like tiny cosplay mini backpacks and can be clipped onto a larger bag, purse, park backpack, or keyring. Possible characters include Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore, Kanga, and Roo. We need Tigger. ©Amazon These come in blind packaging, so the character inside is a surprise. Duplicates are possible, which means ordering several could either produce a charming collection of Hundred Acre Wood friends or a small battalion of Eeyores. Neither result is entirely bad. Mystery merchandise is dangerous because it turns shopping into a tiny casino operated by Winnie the Pooh. Proceed accordingly. view ON AMAZON Loungefly Disney Stained Glass: Rapunzel Mini-Backpack Stained-glass Loungefly bags have a habit of disappearing. The designs look more like wearable artwork than ordinary character merchandise, and collectors tend to notice them quickly. This Rapunzel Mini Backpack is an Amazon Exclusive featuring a stained-glass interpretation of the Tangled princess. It is elegant enough for adults who do not necessarily want a giant character face on their back, but it still reads unmistakably Disney. ©Amazon This could work for an EPCOT outfit, a Disney dinner, or a Rapunzel Disneybound that leans more royal than cartoonish. view ON AMAZON Loungefly Disney Tinker Bell Pixie Dust Velvet Mini Backpack Tinker Bell has never been particularly interested in blending in, and neither is this backpack. The Pixie Dust Velvet Mini Backpack uses black crushed velvet rather than the usual smooth faux leather, giving it a richer, more grown-up look. Tinker Bell appears on the large front pocket with enough pixie dust energy to make a basic black bag feel genuinely magical. ©Amazon The darker color palette also makes this easier to wear outside the parks. It still has plenty of character, but it does not require a full Peter Pan outfit or a personal commitment to lime green. This is Tinker Bell after dark. She has left Pixie Hollow, booked a table at a lounge, and will absolutely skip the fireworks crowd in favor of another cocktail. view ON AMAZON Loungefly Disney Mickey Mouse Mick-O-Lantern Halloween Crossbody Purse Bag We have reached the Mickey pumpkin. This figural Halloween crossbody is shaped like a Mickey Mouse jack-o’-lantern. The face glows in the dark. That means you can spend the afternoon carrying a cheerful Mickey pumpkin around Disney World, then wait for sunset and watch your purse become its final form. It is perfect for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, fall park days, pumpkin patch visits, or sitting at home on August 1st while insisting Halloween has officially begun. ©Amazon Halloween merchandise also has a shorter useful shopping season than most Disney items. Once people begin planning party outfits and fall trips, the best bags can vanish quickly. A glowing Mickey pumpkin deserves better than being remembered in October after it has already sold out. view ON AMAZON Amazon’s Loungefly selection changes constantly, and availability can disappear with little warning. Several of these bags are recent releases, while others combine the two qualities that tend to make collectors move quickly: exclusive designs and highly specific characters. So, we feel like we are now experts on snacks that come in cones, thanks to the Cozy Cone Motel over in Disney California Adventure, and those EPIC cones we’ve had in Epic Universe. Generally speaking, a snack with the word “cone” in it means it’s in a bread cone, which makes it all that much better. It’s not exactly what we thought So you would think when we visited Universal Orlando recently to have yet another cone snack, it would be the same, right? But, nope, something was VERY different about the cone snack we just had there, and we’re wondering how there was such a disconnect between Epic Universe and Universal Islands of Adventure. Okay, let’s talk about it. To start with, THIS is what we think of when we think of a cone snack: Mac and Cheese Cones! We recently visited Universal Islands of Adventure’s Seuss Landing to check out Morriss’s Mac-nificent Mac & Cheese Cone at Circus McGurkus Stoopendous Cafe for $19.99. First, the description is that it’s a freshly baked bread cone, hand breaded Buffalo chicken nuggets, creamy Cheddar cavatappi pasta, and ranch sauce. And, well, this is what we got, which is NOT what we expected. It’s not even cone-shaped. We’re so confused, y’all. Morriss’s Mac-nificent Mac & Cheese Cone The nuggets are standard chicken nuggets, but they’re dressed up nicely in a medium-heat buffalo sauce with ranch. And that alone makes them delicious. So score one for the not-cone. The mac and cheese was also good, but it really needed more of a cheesy flavor to really stand out with that buffalo sauce flavor. The “cone” was actually not too bad. It tasted like it had been drizzled with garlic butter, but it’s not toasted. It’s just regular fluffy bread. Which was just okay. The chicken nuggets are great Honestly, we’d just leave the bread alone and eat the mac and cheese with the nuggets. So, although the snack is a bread cone fail, it’s still not a complete fail because it’s pretty tasty otherwise. We’ll be back with more reviews from Universal Orlando, so stay tuned to DFB for more. Flying can be a stressful experience. From packing to getting to the airport, to getting through TSA, to boarding one’s flight, it can leave a traveler frazzled. However, that doesn’t give a passenger carte blanche to act however they want. Southwest Airlines There are certain on-flight behaviors — some against the full rules, some against “unofficial” rules — that flight attendants will always side-eye. Not Following Lithium Ion Battery Rules In recent years, few issues regarding in-flight safety have been more worrying than issues presented by lithium-ion batteries, such as those used in portable phone chargers. In response to these growing concerns, the FAA has changed the rules regarding their use on planes. Non-housed lithium-ion batteries like phone chargers can NOT be stored in checked luggage, and can only be carried in carry-on bags. Do you know the new rules about flying with portable chargers? The FAA specifically states, “Spare (uninstalled) lithium ion and lithium metal batteries, including power banks and cell phone battery charging cases, must be carried in carry-on baggage only. When a carry-on bag is checked at the gate or at planeside, all spare lithium batteries and power banks must be removed from the bag and kept with the passenger in the aircraft cabin.” Hence why flight attendants are keeping a closer eye on passengers’ batteries and their usage. Playing Electronic Devices Without Headphones As flight attendants — and other passengers, or anyone who has taken any form of public transportation in recent years — will tell you, headphones exist for a reason. They have become a travel essential in recent years, as the vast majority of flyers plan to watch movies or listen to music on devices like smartphones and laptops. ©Amazon So while your taste in music, streaming shows, or podcasts is probably great, other passengers don’t want to hear it, and flight attendants don’t want to have to deal with noise complaints. Eating Smelly Leftovers On Board Airports these days offer a litany of food options after you get through security, so it can be very easy to pick up a meal to bring on your flight with you. Overall, that’s a good thing. However, keep in mind that planes are generally small, somewhat cramped enclosed spaces. A salad from MCO So, be wary of what kind of food you decide to unleash on your flight attendants and fellow passengers. Talking During the Safety Demonstration It is essential to pay attention during the safety demonstration, regardless of whether it is your first or 100th time flying. Not only is it nice to be respectful to the flight attendants, but each plane has different safety features, so it is important to listen up because knowing the proper procedures for the aircraft you’re flying on may quite literally save your life. ©Breeze Airways Next time you’re boarding a flight, don’t engage in any of these behaviors, lest you want to feel (arguably rightfully) judged by your flight attendant. We’ve only got a few more months to experience the popular Mythos Restaurant at Islands of Adventure in Universal Orlando, but for now, you’ll be treated to tons of construction around the land while you eat. @bioreconstruct on X This is all part of Universal’s plan to retheme The Lost Continent part of the park, though it hasn’t yet been revealed what it’ll be rethemed to. Mythos Restaurant is set to close in 2027, but a large portion of this area of the park has been under demolition now for months. Thanks to our friend @bioreconstruct on X (formerly known as Twitter), we just got an updated look at what’s going on behind the walls, and WOW is it a sight to see. The walls have been up around the former Poseidon’s Fury attraction for what feels like forever now, and since the actual entrance to the attraction is so much closer to the building, we haven’t been able to see what’s been going on. Based on these aerial views, though, we can clearly see that a lot of work has been done. @bioreconstruct on X Not much demolition is happening near Mythos Restaurant just yet, which makes sense, since the restaurant is expected to be fully operational for at least the next five months. However, we can see a small area towards the back of the restaurant where the guests’ walking path has been severely limited due to walls on both sides. While we can’t see exactly what the closure near the restaurant is for just yet, we know it wouldn’t be there without good reason. @bioreconstruct on X When you’re in the park, the fencing around the restaurant and the former Poseidon’s Fury attraction is pretty high, which is another reason we appreciate this bird’s-eye view so much. @bioreconstruct on X It does look like most of the ground-level theming of Poseidon’s Fury has been removed, which is sad for what once was, but does mean we’re a few steps closer to whatever is meant to be on the way. @bioreconstruct on X Taking a look at the back of the Poseidon’s Fury theatre, we can also see just how much has been gutted from the building. In fact, it looks like the entire back half of the building has just been torn open, and Universal is, quite literally, just digging everything out. It does allow us to see that there is room to expand the building, if needed, and since the entire thing hasn’t been torn down, we’re wondering if that’s what the plan is. @bioreconstruct on X We’ll be sure to keep a close eye on all the latest construction news out of the resort as a whole, so stay tuned to DFB! Disney World Just Quietly Made Three Big Changes
Disney4me posted a topic in Disney Food/Restaurants
Disney World is always making changes — always. Some come with massive announcements, and others are small and require a trained eye to notice. Can you spot the change? These recent changes are making us go “oh?” We’re kinda scratching our heads, but here are a few recent changes that might affect your upcoming trip. Boat Dock Closure At Disney’s Old Key West Resort, the boat dock is currently closed and will be unavailable until early August. The Sassagoula River Cruise takes you to Disney Springs, but for now, you can use the buses to get to the shopping district. The boat usually goes to Saratoga Springs Resort and Port Orleans Resort — Riverside and Port Orleans — French Quarter, and those routes are still available, weather permitting. Closed! This is a massive perk of the resort, so if you’re staying in the hotel, you’ll want to make sure you have alternative routes planned as well as some additional travel time as needed. On the boat Ceramic to Paper Plates in EPCOT We know this seems like a small change, but it totally changes the aesthetic of our meal! Connections Eatery in EPCOT has switched out their nice ceramic plates for paper plates. It sounds silly, but we really love these plates and have even looked up the brand to try to get some for ourselves at home. For a quick-service restaurant, it made us feel like we were eating at a fancier place. Pizza When we ordered pizza, it came on a paper boat, and it kinda ruined the vibe. It’s a bit confusing because Disney is committed to being sustainable, so we imagine that these are recyclable. This could be a temporary change due to a broken dishwasher, but it’s been going on for a little bit, which is confusing us. Paper plate Major Breakfast Changes at Ale & Compass Breakfast at Disney World can be hard, so when we find a deal that’s too good to pass up, we have to share it with the world. That’s how we felt with the Continental Enhancement at Ale & Compass at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. For $28, you got a breakfast entree, a drink, and access to an ENTIRE breakfast buffet with additional offerings. Most entrees are around $15 to $25, so this was the deal of the century. So many things to chose from It has recently been removed from the menu, and instead, you can grab the Danish Breakfast for $10, which comes with cinnamon rolls, fruit danish, and assorted mini muffins, and the Continental parfait and Fruit for $10, which has acai, blueberry, strawberry, sliced banana, granola, coconut, and honey. These are really more add-ons to your entree; they aren’t the same thing as access to that full buffet, but that is an option if you’re interested. We might stick with the entrees for now! Offerings We’re always keeping an eye on all changes in Disney World, so make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more news, along with tips and tricks to have the best Disney vacation ever. 5 BIG CHANGES ARE ABOUT TO HIT DISNEY WORLD HOTELS IN AUGUST Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! It’s no secret that BIG changes are coming to the Magic Kingdom. Disney’s Villains are taking over the land “beyond” Big Thunder Mountain, the Carousel of Progress is transforming into a bigger and more beautiful tomorrow, and the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island are being filled in to become Piston Peak. ©@bioreconstruct However, we noticed something small related to that Cars-related project that has us fearing for one of our favorite off-the-beaten-path Magic Kingdom locations. For years, the Frontierland Boardwalk had been one of our favorite shortcuts in the Magic Kingdom. This wooden planked walking path ran the length of Frontierland, essentially between the end of Liberty Square all the way to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. The boardwalk pathway On a practical level, it provided a quick path to cutting across the land when Frontierland was crowded, especially during parades. Aesthetically, it was a great spot to stop and take in the grandeur of the park’s back vista, with the aforementioned mountains to one side, the Mansion to the other, and the Rivers of America flowing in front. Of course, the latter disappeared last year when the opening-day waterway closed forever, but we were hoping the boardwalk would be part of the land after the Piston Peak project was complete. While initial blue sky renderings from 2004 were unclear, Disney’s more recent Piston Peak concept seemed to indicate the boardwalk — which has survived construction so far — would remain in place. ©Disney However, a recent look at the Walt Disney World app has us feeling uneasy, as the majority of the boardwalk, outside of a small section near Tiana’s Bayou Adventure… ©My Disney Experience …seems to have been eliminated. ©My Disney Experience Now, that could be a sign that Disney is preparing to permanently close the majority of the pathway. However, its disappearance from the app could also mean it’s temporarily closing due to Piston Peak’s construction, and could reopen when the new project is ready, likely in a few years. We’re certainly hoping for the latter. Stay tuned to DFB for more updates on Disney World’s biggest construction projects. 5 Previously Impossible Magic Kingdom Lightning Lanes That Are Easy Now Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! It’s no secret that a Disney World trip can get pretty expensive, especially once you add in the costs of travel, hotel rooms, food, souvenirs, and tickets. That’s why we do our best to try and stay on top of every good deal we can find when Disney World releases them. Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom Well, Disney World previously released an incredible deal on a 4-Day, 4-Park Magic Ticket, but you need to act soon if you want to grab it. That’s right… you’ve only got a couple of months left to book that trip and get big savings on tickets. Disney dropped a new deal for a 4-Day, 4-Park Magic Ticket that lets you visit each of Disney World’s four theme parks one time starting at just $109 per day. That means you can visit one of the four parks each day: Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Animal Kingdom However, time is running out to take advantage of this offer. The ticket deal is good on tickets through September 26th, 2026. So, you’ve only got two more months to take advantage of it! Note that tickets also must be used within seven days of their starting date. EPCOT As the tickets are date-based, you do not need to make park pass reservations to visit a park. You also cannot use the ticket to enter the same park on more than one day — it’s only good for one theme park per day. You can also create a room-and-ticket package with the deal if you also need to book a hotel room. Disney’s Hollywood Studios So, if you’ve been planning a trip before the end of September, you need to grab this ticket deal while it’s still available. Of course, we’ll keep an eye out for other Disney World deals and discounts, so stay tuned to DFB for more. A CHANGE Is Coming to This Disney World Hotel Perk in September DON'T DO IT ALONE! One of the best parts of a Disney World vacation is watching the nightly fireworks spectaculars, whether that be Magic Kingdom’s Happily Ever After or EPCOT’s Luminous, The Symphony of Us. Happily Ever After However, starting in 11 days, Magic Kingdom fireworks will CHANGE on some nights in the foreseeable future. But why? Here’s everything you need to know about these upcoming changes and how to plan for them to keep your vacation running smoothly! You’re probably wondering: “11 days? That’s so specific…what’s happening on August 7th?” Well, that’s the start of one of the most anticipated holiday parties of the year — Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party! From August 7th through October 31st, there will be 38 nights when the Happily Ever After fireworks show will NOT take place due to the Halloween party. These nights include: August 7th, 11th, 14th, 18th, 21st, 23rd, 25th, 28th, and 30th September 1st, 4th, 8th, 11th, 13th, 15th, 18th, 20th, 22nd, 24th, 25th, 27th, and 29th October 1st, 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 9th, 13th, 15th, 16th, 18th, 22nd, 23rd, 25th, 27th, 29th, and 31st Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party 2025 Instead, Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular will take place, featuring Jack Skellington from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas as your host! Like Happily Ever After, this show will include projections, lasers, and fireworks, but through the storyline that anything can happen during Halloween! Jack and Sally During the show, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy enter Jack’s haunted house where they encounter skeletons, ghosts (including the one and only Zero), and many Disney villains! Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular If you’re really hoping to see the Happily Ever After fireworks show, plan your Magic Kingdom night on a non-party day! The only reasons Happily Ever After will not show are due to other fireworks spectaculars (Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular, Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks Show, or Disney’s Celebrate America! — A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky) or due to inclement weather. Happily Ever After Our biggest tip to prepare for this is to keep an eye on the weather and the party nights, so you don’t end up getting to Magic Kingdom at 5:30 PM just to be told the park closes at 6 PM for a special-ticketed event and they will not be showing Happily Ever After that night. Magic Kingdom Closing Early Sign On these nights, we recommend heading over to EPCOT for their fireworks show, Luminous, The Symphony of Us, or to Hollywood Studios for their nighttime spectacular, Fantasmic! This way you’re still able to see a show without sacrificing a night of Happily Ever After! Fantasmic! To easily view showtimes and dates, you can use the My Disney Experience app and click on the ‘Today’s Showtimes’ tab to view each park’s shows. We’re always here to make sure you have a smooth and worry-free vacation, so stay tuned to DFB for more Disney news, updates, tips, and tricks! Heads Up! Now’s the time to update your AMC A-List Membership because new movies are on the horizon. Avengers: Doomsday is coming to theaters on December 18th, 2026, and we’ve been following along every step of the way. During a panel, they showed an exclusive in-room look at the upcoming film, and each attendee was given a Doctor Doom mask and cloak to wear. ©Disney Doctor Doom himself (well, we might know him better as Robert Downey Jr.) called for the audience to don the masks and cloaks during the panel. While the preview was just for guests at the panel, check out how amazing their booth was at the event. Marvel also announced that they have started working on a new Ghost Rider film, which will be directed by Shawn Levy and star Ryan Gosling. It’s set to release in theaters in 2028, and Jonathan Tropper from Star Wars: Starfighter is writing the script. ©Disney When Ryan Coogler was invited to the state, we knew something big was going to happen! Coogler is returning to Marvel to direct Black Panther 3! The film will be in theaters on December 15th, 2028, and David Jonsson, who you might know from Alien: Romulus, will be the new Black Panther. ©Disney Spider-Man: Brand New Day will also be released in theaters on July 31st, 2026, and fans at the panel got to preview an exclusive early look at the new Spider-Man movie. Jon Bernthal, who will play The Punisher, was there to share the preview. ©Disney We’re so excited to catch all of these movies in theaters and get back to our Marvel movies. If you’re heading to Animal Kingdom this August, there are some changes you need to be prepared for. Cranes! From disappearing perks to changing hours, the park might not be what you expect next month. However, you’ll be able to get a new glimpse at the future of Walt Disney World. Changes in Hours For the first week or so of August, Animal Kingdom will be closing at 7 PM. However, beginning on August 9th, that time shifts to 6 PM for the rest of the month. Expedition Everest However, Deluxe Tier Resort guests will have a chance to stay at the park past 7 PM on August 26th. That night, the park will feature Extended Evening Hours, remaining open to select hotel guests from 6 PM to 8 PM. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Bye Bye V.I.Passholder Perks July 31st will see the end of this year’s V.I.PASSHOLDER Summer Days promotion, a “summer celebration brimming with limited-time offerings and exciting perks just for Passholders!” That means that beginning on August 1st, the following perks will NO LONGER be available to Animal Kingdom guests: Exclusive merchandise, including a Zip-Up Hoodie, a Tee, a Loungefly Crossbody Bag, a Baseball Hat, and even a Corkcicle Canteen at Discovery Trading Company. An exclusive Popcorn Bucket featuring a design from illustrator Ashley Taylor that was available at Chakranadi. 40% off at both Tiffins Restaurant (dinner only) and Tusker House Restaurant (lunch and dinner), on Mondays to Thursdays from May 1st through July 31st. Tiffins Construction Progress Of course, the defining part of a trip to Animal Kingdom right now is the construction of the upcoming Tropical Americas takeover of DinoLand/partial expansion. The village of Pueblo Esperanza — and its headline attractions based on Indiana Jones and Encanto — are coming together quickly.
