I went on Amazon to buy one Haunted Mansion candle. One. Candle. I had a specific vision, a reasonable budget, and absolutely no intention of turning my home into a craft store. Alas, here we are. Haunted Mansion in Disneyland Amazon showed me a miniature haunted house kit, vintage apothecary bottles, and more decorations — and suddenly, I was staring at a cart full of things I had never needed in my life. The candle was still in there somewhere, buried beneath enough crafting supplies, but I quickly learned that you don’t go on Amazon as a crafter, but you may come away with a new personality. I went looking for one spooky candle, and I left with five items and the dangerous belief that I am one Amazon delivery away from becoming a DIY person. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. It all started with a simple candle purchase… ©Amazon Here at DFB, we’re big fans of this Haunted Mansion-themed Candle — and for good reason. This 8-oz candle blends warm leather, aged wood, plum, velvety peony, and dark patchouli into a scent that evokes the essence of an old library filled with ghostly secrets. Each candle is hand-poured with plant-based wax and premium fragrance oils, and lasts a long while. I only wanted to pick one up, but I was quickly turned to our next souvenir… BUY ON AMAZON My eyes turned to a Haunted Mansion Loungefly ©Amazon The Haunted Mansion Singing Busts Loungefly Mini Backpack glows in the dark… how was I supposed to avoid this?! It even features a front pocket, including a sherpa hedge appliqué with lenticular singing busts! BUY ON AMAZON I went from browsing Loungefly bags to checking out crochet kits ©Amazon All of a sudden, I discovered The Haunted Mansion Crochet Kit and started my descent down the rabbit hole of DIY projects. Featuring 12 Happy Haunts from the ride, this set includes everything you need to make Madame Leota (with special glow-in-the-dark yarn) and Sally Slater the Tightrope Girl with her parasol and chomping alligator at her feet. You’ll get a crochet hook, a tapestry needle, twelve colors of yarn, three pairs of safety eyes, an aluminum wire, fiberfill stuffing, and a 96-page book with step-by-step instructions and full-color photos for the Hatbox Ghost with a removable head, the Bride, a Doom Buggy, the Caretaker and his dog, the Singing Busts, and the three Hitchhiking Ghosts. BUY ON AMAZON I was then inspired by the Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay to make new coasters! ©Amazon The Haunted Mansion in Disneyland transforms into The Nightmare Before Christmas overlay every fall and winter, and so my attention naturally turned to The Nightmare Before Christmas 6-Piece Diamond Painting Coasters Kit! This set comes with all the tools and necessary accessories to make your own drink coasters that will not only save your tables, but also be bright, beautiful, and show off your fandom. BUY ON AMAZON I thought about this newfound passion becoming a gift for others ©Amazon During my shopping, I was inspired to buy for the kiddos in my family, and this Disney Princess Dot Art Kit stood out! Kids can align numbers and press an easy stamper to fill circles with vibrant dots that unveil Jasmine, Belle, and Rapunzel scenes! It comes with a stamper, dot cartridges, 1,800 colorful dots, and a storybook that guides the adventure. BUY ON AMAZON Have you ever had a shopping experience like this? I don’t know what is UP with Chef Mickey’s in Disney World, but that restaurant is out to get me. Chef Mickey! It’s part of my job to review restaurants in Disney World (we visit ALL the restaurants on a rotation to make sure we can provide up-to-date feedback for you guys), and in the past few years that I’ve done that, I’ve been to Chef Mickey’s for work three times. Each visit, that restaurant crafted some new and unusual way to mildly torture me, so I’m here to WARN you…and tell you where I think you should dine instead. My Chef Mickey’s Curse The first time I went to Chef Mickey’s for work, I was a little baby reporter, new to the job of reviewing restaurants and excited to prove myself at one of Disney World’s most popular options. Well, unfortunately, there was a scheduling mix-up. The buffet had just returned post-pandemic, and what our team thought would be a lunch reservation for me just turned out to be the latest breakfast reservation possible. Yup, I was the last person seated during the breakfast shift before Chef Mickey’s closed for its midday break. Mickey at Chef Mickey’s My reservation was for 12:15 PM, and I wasn’t seated until 12:45 PM. Before I even got my drink order, the characters were stopping by my table in rapid succession on their way out the door. I didn’t get to hit the buffet until all five had stopped by my table (to avoid missing them), and they were shutting down the buffet line right as I walked up. I’ve never taken photos of food and eaten so fast in my life. Despite the rush, I was still one of the last people in the restaurant, and it was STRESSFUL. Lesson learned — reservations for breakfast here are best made before noon. Chef Mickey’s! But that was a scheduling fluke, right? Surely my next visit would be better? WRONG. Chef Mickey’s changed its menu a few months later, and I was sent back to try the new eats. This time, I was seated in the back room between two rambunctious groups. One group of visitors didn’t understand that you WAIT for the characters to come to your table, and thus, jumped up to interrupt every character as soon as they walked into the room. I had to let my server know that two of the five characters missed my table entirely because of it. Table at Chef Mickey’s The folks on the other side of me? Well, let’s just say that they didn’t have great control of their kids. They allowed their toddler to run around freely and crawl under my table. The child removed the condiments and placards from my table and even stole my fanny pack at one point and threw it on the floor. That was a nightmare. Mickey Waffles But Chef Mickey’s didn’t stop there. Visit three was a routine review a year or two later. That time, I was the last person seated in my section of the restaurant. You see, this restaurant groups reservations by rooms, so everyone’s on a bit of a time crunch. As the latest reservation in my room (there’s really no way to tell this ahead of time), I had the least amount of time of the folks in my section. I tried to wait for the characters to come by before hitting the buffet, since I could see them a few tables away, but the manager of the restaurant came to my table and told me I had to get my food right then. Once the characters made their way through our room, the servers and managers rushed everyone to get out, even dropping off my check when I was halfway through my first (and only) plate. The whole experience was only about an hour long, which is a very short time for a buffet meal with FIVE characters. Chef Mickey’s spread So, you can see that I’ve had some very anxiety-inducing visits to Chef Mickey’s. It’s usually loud, rushed, and chaotic in there, and the food is typically only alright. That’s why there are other character meals I like to recommend instead. Let’s review them! Most Similar to Chef Mickey’s…Minus the Chaos For the restaurant that’s most similar to Chef Mickey’s without the chaotic atmosphere, I’m recommending Cape May Cafe. This spot is also located at a hotel — Disney’s Beach Club Resort — so there’s no park ticket required. The big difference is that the characters you meet here are typically Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Donald Duck, and Daisy. So, no Mickey and no Pluto, but with the addition of Daisy. Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast at Cape May Cafe They’re only a character meal for breakfast, but they offer a buffet that’s very similar to the options at Chef Mickey’s, with your basic spread of waffles, pancakes, breakfast meats, fruits, and more. It’s usually pretty easy to get a reservation here, and during my visit, I had the characters stop by my table MULTIPLE times, which is something that doesn’t happen at Chef Mickey’s. This spot is great for a chill atmosphere with long and fun character interactions. See Our Breakfast Review Here! Best Food Of all the character meals in Disney World, the one that I’m awarding “best food” is Topolino’s Terrace at Disney’s Riviera Resort. Here, you meet Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy in their artist outfits, and you order off of a prix fixe menu instead of doing a buffet. The food is incredibly high quality, and the portions are pretty massive, so even if it’s not all-you-care-to-eat, you’ll likely get full. Topolino’s Terrace breakfast pastries They’ll give you a paint bucket full of pastries for the table, and you can often order a side item to go with your entree. This restaurant is on the popular side, so it can be busy and hard to get a reservation, but the vibes are top-notch, with excellent views of Disney World property from both the windows and the restaurant’s terrace. The main downsides here are that this spot is only a character meal for breakfast and service can be a little bit slow because it’s so popular. Check Out Our Topolino’s Terrace Full Review! Most Fun Personally? My favorite spot to visit is Tusker House at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Here, you have Donald, Daisy, Goofy, and Mickey, and it’s an absolute BLAST. When I’ve dined here, the characters have visited my table multiple times, and I’ve had some of the best interactions that were personal and hilarious. Donald’s Dining Safari at Tusker House The food is a bit more adventurous and very good quality for a buffet in Disney World, plus this is a great air-conditioned break for the middle of your park day. You can get reservations here for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and they’re usually not too hard to snag, especially if you’re willing to eat at unusual times. The space is also massive, which means it doesn’t often feel crowded. Click Here for Our Review of Tusker House! Best Characters Now, if you’re looking for any character meal and you’re not stuck on meeting Mickey and friends, my recommendation for the meal with the best characters is Crystal Palace in Magic Kingdom. This restaurant offers a character meal all day long with Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, and Eeyore! Autograph Card While Pooh and Tigger meet in Magic Kingdom during the day, the only place you’ll see Piglet and Eeyore outside this restaurant is at the Halloween and Christmas parties, so they’re fairly rare! The interactions with these four are a lot of fun, particularly if you ask them questions about life in the Hundred Acre Wood. The food is served buffet-style and is pretty general crowd-pleasing stuff, plus churro Mickey waffles at breakfast! See Our Thoughts on Crystal Palace Here! Most Chill Finally, my award for the most chill character meal goes to Garden Grill. If the chaos of Chef Mickey’s makes you nervous, then this EPCOT restaurant is the perfect alternative. The atmosphere is unique — the restaurant is circular and rotates slowly while you dine so that you’ll be able to see the various scenes of the Living with the Land ride downstairs. The characters available here are Mickey, Pluto, Chip, and Dale. Garden Grill Reservations are fairly easy to get, and during my last visit, the space wasn’t even full, so it was calm and not too loud. The meal is served family-style in skillets to your table, and it’s all-you-care-to-eat. There’s no need to get up and down to visit a buffet, and I got to see the characters multiple times. Mickey even sat down at my table for a few minutes! Seriously, it’s SO chill here. See My Garden Grill Review Here! I’ve had quite a bit of experience with Disney World character meals, and there seems to be an option for everyone! Depending on your priorities (and your personal threshold for chaos), one of these is sure to fit the bill. We take princess dining very seriously at Disney Food Blog. I mean, what’s a trip to Disney World without dining in a castle? Time to eat at Be Our Guest One restaurant we keep finding ourselves at time and time again is Be Our Guest in Magic Kingdom. This Beauty and the Beast-themed restaurant lets you dine inside Beast’s castle while he walks around and says hi to guests. It’s not a full meet and greet, but it’s super cool to see him in his element. Be Our Guest added a few new items that we had to try! While Be Our Guest runs on a prix fixe menu, you can also add enhancements to your meal, and some items are included, and others are enhancements. The prix fixe menu costs $72 per adult and $43 for kids ages 3 to 9, but the enhancements are great to share with the table! Let’s eat in Beast’s castle To start, we grabbed the Escargot de Bourgogne, braised in white wine, then baked in garlic-herb butter, and it’s one of the appetizer choices. This isn’t new, but it’s our appetizer choice for the day! Escargot This was a hit with us! They were tender and lovingly cooked, and the white-wine garlic butter sauce was out of this world. The garlic is very forward, so make sure you love garlic. The puff pastry on top makes the dish feel special, with perfectly crunchy, cooked bites, and once you add that garlic butter sauce to the tender goodness, you’re in for a real treat. We recommend keeping your bread on the table to dip into your garlic butter because it is that good. Everything was cooked to our liking, and if you’ve been wanting to try escargot for the first time, this is a great place to start. Perfectly cooked For our entree, we chose the Beef Bourguignon en Croute, slow-cooked in red wine with potatoes, root vegetables, smoked bacon, and bone marrow. Beef Bourguigon Don’t be intimidated! This dish was a pure comfort meal. It reminded us of late-fall and early-winter days when you really want beef stew and to hang out inside as the weather starts to cool down. We don’t always get that in Florida, but this meal puts us in the mood. The crust is well cooked, and the puff pastry is great, but it’s not the star: what’s underneath is. We know seeing a huge bone on your dish can be a lot, but don’t let it put you off. It was a great addition! We loved the tender potatoes, onions, carrots, and mushrooms, perfectly cooked down, with a hint of creaminess. We can’t wait to order this again once it gets a bit colder outside! Inside Now for some enhancements! For our first enhancement, we grabbed the Truffle Pomme Frites, which come with black garlic truffle aioli in parmesan, for $14. Truffle Pomme Frites It is so hard for us to pass up truffle fries! They were perfectly cooked, with a crispy outside and a soft inside, and just enough truffle on top that it wasn’t overpowering, plus plenty of parmesan. It’s a great side dish to share with the table, and they’re a bit rich, which was a nice addition. The sauce it came with took it to the next level, and you might find yourself asking for another side. It brought everything together, and we would order these again hands down. SO good We also tried the Lobster Macaroni au Gratin with sauce mornay for $14. Lobster Mac & Cheese We were pretty dang excited for this dish, but it didn’t quite hit the spot. We think ours sat under the heater a bit too long, which made the noodles a bit too crunchy and hard to bite through. The lobster was a bit overcooked g but there weere big chunks throughout. For $14, we were a bit underwhelmed. We wanted that creamy, cheese mac and cheese with perfectly cooked lobster, and this wasn’t quite it. Since this is a new dish, we gave them the benefit of the doubt as they figure out the menu, but it wasn’t the star. Chunk of lobster Finally, for dessert, we went with the Blooming Rose, which is filled with the grey stuff. This isn’t a new item, but we usually get it because it’s so pretty. Blooming Rose Isn’t it just beautiful! It’s obviously giving major Beauty and the Beast vibes, which is perfect for the restaurant. Inside, you can find the grey stuff, or cookies-and-cream-flavored mousse, which was delicious (don’t believe us? Ask the dishes!). It was creamy, and you can really taste the cookies and creaminess with the chocolate cake on the bottom. We were kinda craving another texture, like something crunchy, but it is very pretty and a dessert that many people will like. Inside So how are the new dishes? Pretty good! We enjoyed them all except the Lobster Mac & Cheese, but we are willing to give it another try once it’s been around a bit longer; for now, we would rather opt for the Truffle Fries. We think these are all great additions to the Be Our Guest menu, and we would choose them again in the future. Most people on their Disney World vacations get up to rope drop the parks, head to a popular breakfast dining experience, or head straight to their resort’s coffee shop. Me? I get up early for an entirely different reason. The BoardWalk There are PLENTY of reasons why someone would get up early at their Disney resort, but my reason is way more unique than others, and I recommend that everyone tries this at least once in their life because it’s just so…peaceful. On my recent visit to Disney’s BoardWalk, I encountered something I’ve never seen — or should I say heard — before. Disney’s BoardWalk Inn was the resort I would always stay at with my family on vacation growing up, so it holds a special place in my heart. And even after ALL of those years staying there, I never realized something until a couple of weeks ago: The music. BoardWalk Resort Now, yes, I always knew there was music playing on the BoardWalk, but I’m specifically talking about it being OFF! I’m currently in the middle of a series where I’m trying to find the BEST resort to work from home at, and the BoardWalk was one of my recent stops. I start my workdays at 9 AM each morning, which means I have to be set up and ready to go at the resorts at 9 AM. When I arrived at the BoardWalk at around 8:30 AM, something seemed off, but I couldn’t quite put my finger on what it was. That was until I opened my laptop and started working because that’s when the music STARTED! Let’s go to the BoardWalk! Yup — at 9 AM on the dot, the beautiful instrumental ambiance started playing at the BoardWalk, and that’s something I had never realized before. As a family on vacation, we were always out the door before then, so we never realized there was no music playing when we left — we were just too excited to get to the parks. But now, I’m making THIS the reason I wake up so early at my Disney World hotel, and that’s for a couple of reasons. Disney’s BoardWalk Reason number one: I can get to enjoy some peace and quiet. Yes, the BoardWalk music is something special and one of my favorites out of all of the resorts, but there’s also something so amazing about the natural sounds of Disney. The horns of the FriendShip Boats. The sound of footsteps on the wooden BoardWalk. The excitement of guests headed to their first park of the day. It’s all so magical. FriendShip boat at the BoardWalk There’s also something special about being up before everyone else. You can really soak in the feeling of being at Disney World, and what better way to do it than without the crowds? The BoardWalk is empty early in the mornings — go on a nice stroll around Crescent Lake before everyone else decides to do the same. This is YOUR time. Take it while you can. Disney’s BoardWalk So, yes — I may not be getting up early to beat the crowds to the parks, but I’m absolutely beating them to being the first to experience the natural sights and sounds of the resort. Dear My Disney Experience (aka the Disney World app), thank you for keeping track of Lightning Lanes, dining reservations, and hotel stays. We also love that we can choose our own profile characters that match our personality, and we spend far too much time searching for wait times. But we are starting to wonder what’s happening to these two features that have simply been abandoned. ©Disney The My Disney Experience app truly keeps us sane throughout our trip and is your one-stop for everything you need to know during your vacation. It’s been going through quite a bit of changes lately, including adding artificial intelligence and more, but now the app has too many issues that have us scratching our heads. While we have the main My Disney Experience app, the Play Disney Parks app recently shut down with little warning. We used this app to entertain ourselves in line with games and trivia, plus Batuu Bounty Hunters and DuckTales World Showcase Adventure. Now that the Play Disney Parks app is no more, what happened to the games? ©Disney Right now, you can’t play them! According to Scott Gustin on X, DuckTales World Showcase Adventure will return, but it’s unclear what the updated experience will look like without the app. The experience was under refurbishment before the app closed, and while some guests theorize they might retheme it (AGAIN!), Disney hasn’t confirmed or denied anything. ©Disney For the Star Wars experiences, there has been no word on what’s happening. Right now, you can spot QR codes around Galaxy’s Edge at Hollywood Studios that don’t do much. It also feels a bit silly to see the QR codes around, since they don’t match Galaxy’s Edge’s aesthetic, no matter how hard they try to blend in. Bounty Hunters So what’s happening to the app? Disney hasn’t announced anything, but we’re hoping DuckTales makes it into the My Disney Experience app, since right now it’s an abandoned experience. The 2026 EPCOT Food and Wine Festival is in FULL swing with over 30 global marketplaces, live entertainment, and several scavenger hunts. This is one of the most popular EPCOT festivals, which tends to bring large crowds and long lines, and there are some food booths that ALWAYS have a line! Food and Wine Festival Crowds We never want you to be surprised on your Disney World vacation, so we’re giving you a full list of the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival booths that ALWAYS have a line. So, be sure to prepare some extra time for those booths because those lines are well worth the wait! France The France booth at EVERY EPCOT festival tends to have a long line, and it’s because the food is just SO good! Each year, this booth is a Best of the Fest for us, and this year, the combination of new and returning dishes was SO good that we just had to give this booth the honor of Best of the Fest! The dishes you can find here this year are: NEW! This may not be the case every day, but keep an eye out for this because it made ordering FAST. However, there is only one booth, and with so many people ordering, this makes the food pickup line quite slow. 2026 France Booth REVIEW: New Eats Hit The France Booth At The EPCOT Food & Wine Festival, But How Do They Hold Up? Canada Some of people’s favorite dishes at the Food and Wine Festival are found at the Canada booth, and yes, we’re talking about the beloved Cheddar and Bacon Soup. They’re so loved that people would honestly riot if they took these items off the menu… Crowds at the Canada Booth For food here, you can grab: Cheddar and Bacon Soup served with a Pretzel Roll (A 30th Anniversary Legacy Item) — $6.29, DDP snack credit eligible Filet Mignon with Mushrooms and Mashed Potatoes (A 30th Anniversary Legacy Item) — $10.49, DDP snack credit eligible And when it comes to drinks, you can try: Collective Arts Brewing Festbier, Hamilton, ON — 6 oz $6.00 / 12 oz $9.75 Château des Charmes Pétales Rouge, Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON — $9.50 The Full Spread of the Canada Booth REVIEW: The CHEAP Canadian Cheese Soup Is BACK At EPCOT! Mexico Because who wouldn’t want a tostada and a margarita during their EPCOT day? The Mexico booth tends to change its menu each year, which keeps people coming back to try the new items year after year! Fall break is alive and well in Disney World, which is a time of year many people forget about, then wonder why in the world there’s a random 3-4 weeks in between the end of summer and Thanksgiving week that are absolutely bonkers. Yep, that’s why. Crowds in Magic Kingdom It’s also hard to track when exactly fall breaks will cause high crowds, since they land in different weeks for various schools. This does mean the crowds are a bit more spread out, rather than arriving all at once, but it still means Disney World becomes more intense than many people expect it to be for early October. But other than being shoulder to shoulder with thousands of your closest strangers, what else can you expect from Disney World this week? The answer? A LOT. We saw a popular Swan & Dolphin restaurant reopen after a months-long closure due to a fire, which was a real win, and we’re happy to report that a popular EPCOT store has also finally reopened after a few weeks closed for refurbishment and is looking great. Let’s take a look at what you need to expect in terms of closures and ongoing construction in Disney World from October 16th through October 23rd. Magic Kingdom Walt Disney World Railroad The Walt Disney World Railroad temporarily closed on September 28th for reasons that Disney hasn’t released. Fortunately, the closure isn’t expected to last long. The Walt Disney World Railroad Disney has listed that the train should reopen on October 30th, so we’ll only have to go without it for about a month. When it reopens, though, a reminder that it’ll only be running from Main Street to Fantasyland and back, as the Frontierland station is closed due to construction happening in Villains Land and Piston Peak. Carousel of Progress Carousel of Progress closed on July 6th to undergo a major refurbishment. The work will include completely revamping the scenes in the attraction to make them more modern and represent more recent parts of history, as well as adding a new Walt Disney animatronic at the opening. ©Disney Currently, the attraction is set to reopen in 2027, though no official date has been set yet. Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island An iconic part of the Magic Kingdom is now permanently closed. As of July 7th, 2025, the Rivers of America, including the Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island, are permanently closed to make way for the new Cars area, Piston Peak. There are lots of construction walls up in the area now, and the structures on Tom Sawyer Island have been demolished. Most recently, we saw some pretty great updates on the progress at the site! via @bioreconstruct on X/Twitter Piston Peak National Park will be replacing this area of the Magic Kingdom. Disney has not yet announced an opening date for the new Cars area, but we do know it will feature two brand-new attractions and be themed to look like a National Park. Disney Just Dropped 8 NEW Magic Kingdom Snacks, And We Have High Hopes Disney’s Hollywood Studios Muppets Courtyard Muppet*Vision 3D and PizzeRizzo closed on June 8th, 2025, and Muppets Courtyard has been walled off for construction on the new Monsters, Inc. land. Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano has been closed since May 11th, 2025. Most recently, we got to see a closer look at some of the details in the land. We’ve spotted some colorful tiles that look almost like dragon (or monster) scales that have been added to the top of one of the buildings, and there’s even a merchandise cart outside the walls now, already selling Monsters, Inc. merchandise! Look at those tiles! We’ll get to explore their world during H.U.M.A.N. Day, or “Humans Understand Monsters Are Nice” Day, with Disney continuing to say, “Human guests will have the chance to explore the city, meet its citizens, taste unique cuisine, and step into the everyday world of monsters in a totally new way. For the first time, two worlds once separated are meeting face to scaly, furry, and fang-filled face – brought together not by screams, but by laughter.” ©Disney It’s also been fully confirmed that Harryhausen’s will be one of the restaurants in the new land, in addition to Archie’s Square Pig Pizza. Most recently, we got a look at some of the new food coming to the land, and we’ve gotta say, we’re pretty excited! ©Disney If you’re missing The Muppets, you can go visit them at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets right now! 5 Disney World Rides Will Be Closed for Refurbishment in November EPCOT Coral Reef Restaurant Coral Reef, one of the most controversial restaurants in all of Disney World, closed for refurbishment on September 8th. Coral Reef Restaurant The Disney World website recently adjusted to allow guests to begin booking reservations again on November 4th and beyond, which we’re now considering the reopening date, unless Disney tells us differently. Sections of Germany Pavilion On July 13th, both the guest bathrooms in the Germany Pavilion and the majority of the Volkskunst store in EPCOT’s Germany Pavilion closed for refurbishment. The roof of Das Kaufhaus is also under refurbishment. Totally closed While a Cast Member did tell us the store closure was to fix the Cast Member bathrooms out of sight, Disney has not revealed a reopening date for the store or the public bathrooms. Other parts of the pavilion are also seeing construction and refurbishment, but are not causing additional closures. BIG Changes Confirmed for the 2027 EPCOT Festival of the Arts Disney’s Animal Kingdom DinoLand, USA On February 2nd, DinoLand, USA, officially closed to make way for the new Tropical Americas land, Pueblo Esperanza. Most recently, thanks to an update from @bioreconstruct, we can see a waterproof barrier has been added to the concrete walls at the base of the frame for Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto. ©Bioreconstruct We can also see lots of work happening at the front of the new Indiana Jones ride, Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent! ©bioreconstruct This new land will have three new rides: El Carrusel de los Animalitos featuring classic Disney animals, Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent where you’ll explore a Mayan temple, and Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto that invites you into the Madrigals’ home. We can’t wait to continue to see how it all shapes up. You’ve Got Questions, and We’ve Got Answers: What Exactly IS About To Happen at Nomad Lounge in Disney World? Disney World Hotels Disney’s Port Orleans — French Quarter Scat Cat’s Club and Lounge at Disney’s Port Orleans — French Quarter officially closed for refurbishment on October 6th. Don’t worry, you can still grab the iconic beignets next door at Sassagoula Floatworks & Food Factory Mickey Beignets at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort Additionally, to make up for the lack of drinks at the lounge, a temporary bar will be available near the cafe from 5 PM to 11 PM each night. When it comes to reopening, the cafe is set to be closed till December and the Lounge until January, though Disney hasn’t released official dates. All-Star Sports Resort Disney quietly announced that Grandstand Spirits Pool Bar is closing for a refurbishment. It closed on September 18th and is expected to last through mid-December 2026. Grandstand Spirits During the closure, we recommend you swing by End Zone Food Court, just a short walk away from the pool, to snag your eats and drinks. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge There are numerous closures taking place around Animal Kingdom Lodge over the next few months that may affect your vacation. The main lobby and primary entrance were set to be closed from August 17th through October 9th, and check-in moved to the Palace Library. Additionally, from September 28th through October 9th, the north side lobby corridor was set to be closed, which closed the north side lobby elevators on the second floor and the outdoor terrace observation deck. However, during a recent visit, it’s clear that this refurbishment is far from over. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Currently, the section of the lobby closest to the back savanna has reopened, which includes the refurbished stairs, giving guests access between the lobby level, Sanaa, and the savanna, and also opens up the walking path between the two sides of the resort. However, the rest of the lobby and Johari Treasures refurbishment is far from complete. Cast Members don’t have an estimate for when it will be finished, but it definitely won’t be soon, based on the level of construction we still saw. The refurbished stairs! The other refurbishment that’s about to begin is: October 26th through November 6th: The south side lobby corridor will be closed. During this time, Community Hall, Safari So Good Arcade, the laundry room, the Palace Library, lobby restrooms, and the outdoor terrace observation deck will be unavailable. Sassagoula River Cruise — Disney’s Old Key West Resort The Sassagoula River Cruise at Disney’s Old Key West, which takes guests to Disney Springs, is temporarily closed. It’s expected to reopen on November 1st, and until that time, bus transportation will be available. Old Key West Dock This spot was also closed from late July to early August this year as well, so it’s possible, but not confirmed, that the boats and/or docks may require additional maintenance that wasn’t initially expected. Convention Center and El Centro Corridor — Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort Beginning on August 10th, the Convention Center at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort began a planned refurbishment that is expected to last through September 2027. Coronado Springs Additionally, the hotel’s El Centro Corridor and surrounding areas will also undergo refurbishment tied to the convention center refurbishment. While there’s no end date for this construction project, we do know that work will be completed in phases, with certain spaces being temporarily inaccessible at times. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa This hotel has been undergoing refurbishments for quite some time now, but some sections of the hotel — specifically the porte cochere — will continue to undergo refurbishment through at least early 2027. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort We certainly hope it’ll actually reopen on this timeline — we’re a little tired of seeing construction all over this beautiful hotel! Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort Currently, work is taking place all over Bay Lake Tower through Late 2027. Bay Lake Tower While currently no major closures are taking place due to this construction, it’s important to note that you may see or hear construction during your stay. Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort The tennis courts at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort are currently closed for refurbishment. Saratoga Springs While Disney hasn’t shared an exact reopening date, the current timeline is that they’ll be closed from late August through November 2026. Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and Resort The Promenade Fine Art Gallery closed its Disney’s Boardwalk location on October 20th, 2025. However, the Promenade Fine Art Gallery isn’t closing for good, and it will just be moving to a new location. Promenade Fine Art Gallery Disney filed permits for the Boardwalk titled “Project Amazon” and “Project Bubbles” earlier this year, and now that we have a bit more information on them, we’re thinking that this currently vacant spot could soon become the home of the new Basin on the Boardwalk store on its way! The shop will be rooted in the resort’s classic boardwalk heritage and will offer a sensory shopping experience that is described as “both timeless and distinctly new.” Never Book a Disney World Trip Without Clicking This Button We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all the latest Disney World news, so stay tuned to DFB! It’s that time of the year between Halloween and Christmas when most of us are REALLY stressed out. The holidays are a LOT sometimes, especially if you’re traveling to Disney World or Orlando for them, plus there’s holiday shopping to deal with, decorating for the holidays, and the general end of the year stuff that almost always pops up. ©Dopamine Land Well, if you need an escape from holiday stress, there’s this thing called Dopamine Land that’s coming to Orlando on November 20th, and it’s sure to free you from all your worries…at least for a little while. We’ve got all the details! Dopamine Land is “a multisensory immersive experience that invites guests into a vibrant world of color, light and play, designed to spark joy.” During the experience, you’ll make your way through a series of interactive rooms and explore environments meant to stimulate dopamine, that hormone that triggers happiness. Dopamine Land will open in Orlando on November 20th at the Fever Hub at The Florida Mall. ©Dopamine Land The experience lasts around 90 minutes, and tickets are on sale now. Tickets start at $21 per person, which seems like a small price to pay for an hour-and-a-half of pure joy, right? Dopamine Land includes the following experiences: Colourtopia: This is a surreal “neon kingdom” that’s full of ever-changing color. You’ll be surrounded by a kaleidoscope of light that changes and evolves. Scribblescape: This is where you can explore creative freedom. Draw, paint, and write on every surface in the room and just let spontaneous creativity take over. Neon Nebula: This is “an electrifying universe of light, color, and movement.” The room is filled with glowing visuals and invites guests to interact and fully immerse themselves in a sensory exploration. Cave of Tactility: This room is calming and touch-driven, with soft textures and “immersive materials” to explore curiosity and calmness. ©Dopamine Land Chromodance: It’s time to dance! This high-energy zone is about music, light, and movement. Choose your own soundtrack and just let loose. Sunset Lagoon: A golden-hued landscape awaits in this room, as well as a giant ball pit where you can play, unwind, and let go. Cushion Clash: An inflatable space meant for pillow battles, nostalgia, and joy. Could this new limited-time offering get more people on board with Universal Kids Resort? Universal Kids Resort Universal Kids Resort is a new theme park that opened in Frisco, Texas earlier this year in July. The park has seven lands and over 30 attractions themed after Shrek, SpongeBob, Minions, Trolls, Puss in Boots, and Jurassic World. Since it opened, it’s gotten a mix of good and bad reviews from guests. Now, the theme park is launching an all-new limited-time Explorer Ticket that’ll give guests even more ways to play! Could this change things? Universal Kids Resort is expanding on its ticket and annual pass offerings to provide guests with more flexibility, value, and ways to enjoy the new theme park. They launched the Gold Annual Pass last month, and now the resort is debuting a new limited-time Explorer Ticket. This new ticket will be a value offering that gives guests access to the park on select days. Minions Splash Pad The Explorer Ticket is for daily admission Sundays through Thursdays ONLY, up until March 11th, 2027. The Explorer Ticket is available for purchase right now and will be available through January 6th, 2027. Be aware that blockout dates may apply, and that parking is not included. Universal Kids Resort The cost for the Explorer Ticket is $69.99 per person, plus tax, making it only $20 more than a 1-Day General Admission ticket and CHEAPER than a 2-Day General Admission ticket. That’s quite the steal for a pass that can be used for as many days as you want until March 11th. Welcome to TrollsFest! Here are the prices for all of the ticket options at Universal Kids Resort: 1-Day General Admission – from $49.99 per person, plus tax. 2-Day General Admission – from $73.99 per person, plus tax. Explorer Ticket (All-New!) – $69.99 per person, plus tax. Silver Annual Pass – $129.99 per person, plus tax. Silver Annual Pass with Parking – $164.99 per person, plus tax. Gold Annual Pass – $199.99 per person, plus tax Hair in the Clouds The Gold Annual Pass was the newest annual pass before the Explorer dropped. This new tier is a premium pass option that provides 12 months of admission to the park with no blockout dates, complimentary regular self-parking, as well as additional special benefits. Triple Gooberberry Sunrise The additional benefits to the Gold Annual Pass are: 10% off select food and beverage purchases 10% off select merchandise purchases 10% off 1-Day and 2-Day Friends & Family tickets 10% off Private VIP Experiences Complimentary hotel room upgrades based on availability $20 off Premium Parking We love the facade We’re always on top of the latest theme park news and updates, so make sure to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog to stay up to date! Halloween is right around the corner, and if you’ve been following along on Disney Parks Blog over the past two months, you may have noticed an extra dash of frightful fun across Disney Parks around the world. From August 21 through October 31, Disneyland Resort is once again home to plenty of seasonal magic complete with touches of Halloween excitement. Now, fans can bring some of that fun to their devices with a new set of downloadable wallpapers inspired by new decorations now up at Pixar Place Hotel. Disney Parks Blog recently caught up with Disney artist Brett Snodgrass, whose latest creation transforms familiar faces from Disney and Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. into a playful Halloween celebratory theme at Pixar Place Hotel. The colorful artwork features an assortment of recognizable monster pals dressed in festive costumes and surrounded by candy-and-door-filled scenes that capture the true spirit of the season. WALLPAPER Download Phone Desktop Smart Watch WALLPAPER Download Phone Desktop Smart Watch WALLPAPER Download Phone Desktop Smart Watch WALLPAPER Download Phone Desktop Smart Watch Spot Favorite Monsters, Inc. Friends in These Clever Wallpapers Mike and Sulley may be the dynamic duo at the heart of Monsters, Inc. but no Pixar story is complete without a memorable supporting cast. These downloadable wallpapers feature plenty of familiar monster friends (and one hidden human), allowing you to spot your favorite characters across the colorful designs. One of the coolest details in this delightful batch of wallpapers? The use of the iconic “doors”, pulled straight from the creative vision of the original 2001 movie. This creative nod immediately brings back memories of watching the opening sequence of Monsters, Inc. on our old-school VHS as a kid, highlighting one of the film’s most recognizable visual elements. Bringing these creative designs to life requires months of endless passion and collaboration between teams at Walt Disney Imagineering, Pixar Animation Studios, and Resort Enhancement at Disneyland Resort, all working together to create an environment that celebrates the world of Monstropolis in a festive and clever way. “There are some brilliant concept artists who’ve worked on the Monsters, Inc. and Monsters University movies over the years, and I think they’re just beautiful movies,” Brett said. “So, I really dug into what the other artists have done. Guests are going to see a lot of shapes and compositions that really reflect some of that early concept artwork.” To bring this vision to life, Brett partnered closely with the always-creative Pixar minds over in Emeryville to make sure that the characters featured at Pixar Place Hotel stayed true to the established look, personality, and story. Once the artwork was officially signed, sealed, and delivered to the colorful lobby inside the hotel, it was time to transform these concepts into a real-life environment at the hotel. Now, they are being brought to life as downloadable wallpapers for desktop, mobile, and smart watch devices. WALLPAPER Download Phone Desktop Smart Watch WALLPAPER Download Phone Desktop Smart Watch WALLPAPER Download Phone Desktop Smart Watch Scoop Up Some Sweet Treats with Candy-Inspired Wallpapers In my book, October means a few things: Halloween costumes, postseason baseball, and plenty of candy to keep the season feeling extra sweet. With these colorful, downloadable wallpaper designs, fans can celebrate one of Halloween’s most iconic traditions from their desktop, mobile device, or smart watch. With playful, candy-filled artwork featuring favorite Monstropolis-inspired treats like “Bog Water Taffy,” “Carasmell Chews,” and “Sludge Brownies,” these designs are a yummy reminder that a little sugar and creativity can go a long way as October 31 approaches. And for those preparing to stay at one of the three Hotels of the Disneyland Resort in October, the sweet fun doesn’t stop there. For a limited-time, overnight guests can explore a delicious trick-or-treat trail across all three Hotels of the Disneyland Resort. To participate in this fun, seasonal (and complimentary) experience on select days in October, be sure to visit the Front Desk to sign up and receive your own wristband, goodie guide, and treat bag. If you’re traveling to Disneyland Resort during Halloween Time this year, you can also save up to 20% on select room types for stays of three or more nights at a Disneyland Resort hotel from October 11 through December 18, 2026. Make sure to swing by The Sketch Pad Café for a sweet seasonal pastry and check out the first-ever Monsters Inc.-inspired Halloween decor at Pixar Place Hotel. Be sure to search for your favorite characters, discover hidden details sprinkled throughout the artwork, and snap a few photos on your phone (using one of these wallpapers for your background, of course) with these awesome displays during your next visit. We’ve got amazing news for you, but terrible news for your wallet! There’s another store that’s just opened in Disney Springs, and yes, that means that our wallets are about to explode (and yours probably will too — just a heads-up). Vuori is open! Disney Springs has been doing a lot of store closures and swap-outs this year, which has been quite interesting to see. Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill closed just a few months ago, and by early April this year, we’d already seen three major spots close. Vuori is the newest spot that’s just been added to the Disney Springs, and it’s about to do some serious damage on our wallets. Vuori is a California-based athletic wear brand known for its comfortable joggers and athleisure pieces. They operate 40 stores in major U.S. cities, including Los Angeles, Chicago, Denver, New York, San Francisco, Boston, and now Orlando, Florida! You’ll also find the brand sold at places like Nordstrom, REI, and Equinox, as well as the former Shore storefront at Disney Springs. Now, if you want to grab a fit straight from the shop, you don’t have to go far. The new store! We really love the way that there’s plenty to look at, while there’s also lots of space to move around. Sometimes stores feel a bit too crowded, but this is a great size for this store. We didn’t feel cramped at all. So much to see! You’ll find the store to be neatly organized, with some of it even split by color, making it easy to find the shades you’re searching. Very organized! There are plenty of items here for both men and women, as well as items for all seasons. That means you’ll find something great for the warmer days this fall, as well as some stylish items for when the winter weather comes in. Remember, Orlando DOES indeed get cold, so there very well may be days you find yourself in need of a jacket. So much to check out! Want to make sure you didn’t miss any recent Disney Springs news? We’ve seen some pretty long lines in Disney World, and they’re usually for rides like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT and Rise of the Resistance in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. But today, one of the longest lines in Disney World isn’t even in the theme parks! World of Disney So we recently told you about a MAJOR drop happening at World of Disney for the newest Lorcana set, Hyperia City. Well, let’s just say that the line to buy the set at World of Disney in Disney Springs is pretty long right now. So here’s the deal: the new Lorcana drop at World of Disney is using a virtual queue (probably because Disney KNEW there would be a HUGE demand for it). So we signed up for the virtual queue ourselves as soon as we could and still landed in group 40. Group 40!!! Our estimated wait time was 30 minutes at 6 AM today. ©Disney When we arrived at Disney Springs, a long line had already formed at World of Disney and was literally wrapping around the shopping/dining district. This Lorcana drop is HUGE. The card game is seriously popular online and in person, as you can see below. The line is LONG Things were pretty busy INSIDE the store, too, so if you’re just shopping there for something else, GOOD LUCK. Yep, it’s busy! So what’s got everyone so excited? Lorcana is a collectible card game that includes Disney characters and stories. The new Hyperia City drop includes brand new cards with characters from Coco, Zootopia, The Goofy Movie, Sleeping Beauty, Big Hero 6, and more. Baymax Card Each sleeved booster pack is $5.99, while the booster display box is $129.99. The Illumineer’s Trove is $49.99. Ilumineer’s Cove A two-player deck is $29.99. We’ve already started planning our Disney World trips for 2027, and it’s time to get those calendars out again, because a beloved event is returning next year! Banana Ball crowd! If you’ve been following the Disney Food Blog for a while, you know how much we love the Savanah Bananas (Jackson Olsen is basically AJ’s little brother), so you can imagine how much we freaked out when we heard that Banana Ball is returning to Disney World in 2027. Who’s ready for some more Banana Ball?! That’s rhetorical — we know you are! The Banana Ball schedule has finally announced its 2027 schedule, and it includes the Banana Ball Open, which is a four-game experience taking place on April 15th-18th. During the Banana Ball Open, all six teams will compete head-to-head at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Disney World. We had a blast at Banana Ball at Disney World when it first came, and we’re so excited to see it return, and this time with such a big event for the league! Such a fun game! This is the second time that Banana Ball has come to Disney World. Disney World hosted two Banana Ball games earlier in the year this year. It’s such a fun game, and we couldn’t recommend it enough. If you’re interested in seeing the Banana Ball Open in 2027, you can enter the ticket lottery right now through October 31st. All you have to do is head to the BananaBall.com website. Tickets aren’t that bad, starting at $35 per person. Party Animals on the field! If you’ve never seen a Banana Ball game, this isn’t your usual baseball game. It’s a whole different fun-filled twist on the traditional game, with a whole bunch of wacky rules. Rules like getting ejected for bunting (because “bunting sucks”), sprinting after four balls before every defensive player on the field touches the ball, and a team sending any hitter in the lineup to bat in any spot one time in the game. Those are only a few of the MANY wonky rules. It’s time for Banana Ball! To get to the game, you will have to pre-purchase parking. There is also the option to take a Minnie Van, as the service provides transportation to and from select locations within Walt Disney World Resort, including ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. Prices vary based on distance traveled. Banana Ball! It’s a good day to be a Banana Ball fan, because the news doesn’t end there. There’s also a new Banana Ball documentary coming to Disney+ and Hulu in the fall of 2027. The documentary follows the origin of Banana Ball from Savannah, Georgia. It starts with its beginnings 10 years ago and how it’s become what it is today. It will feature inside stories, personalities, and the community behind the sports sensation. Banana Ball! The film is directed by David Beilinson and produced by Connor Schell’s Words + Pictures, Benj Pasek, and Justin Paul’s Ampersand. The documentary will feature 11 original songs from Pasek & Paul, with additional songwriters Ashley Gorley, Cal Shapiro, Ben Johnson, Adam Yaron, Jake Sinclair, Brandon Bomer, Jarius Jones, and Jesse Cole. Banana Ball! As Banana Ball fans, we’re always keeping an eye out for what they’re going to do with Disney. So, if you’re a fan or you just want to stay up to date on all the latest Disney news and updates, make sure to follow us at the Disney Food Blog! Here at DFB, we have a Friday tradition we lovingly refer to as Furr-idays. Binx and his banshee On Fridays, I prompt everyone on the team to share a recent photo of their furbabies, and we “ooh” and “aah” over each and every one (or laugh, depending on what they’re up to in said photo). It’s a great way to get into the weekend spirit, but also gives us a chance to bond as a team over our love of animals. And, as you may have suspected, these furbabies really are our bosses, so I’d like to introduce some of them to you. So how did our Furr-iday tradition begin? Well, a member of our team who is no longer with us started prompting us every Friday to post photos of our pets on our Slack chat. When that member left, I took it upon myself to keep the tradition going, and it became Furr-iday! I usually post a photo of one of my five cats (usually the two youngest, Taylor and Binx, because they are always doing something precocious). So meet Taylor (who is, yes, named after Taylor Swift) on her Haunted Mansion blankie. Binx, well, that’s him up above cuddled up with the Banshee I got in Animal Kingdom years ago. Taylor is a Haunted Mansion fan We’ve got another cat duo, Theodore and Princess Poppy, who own DFB team member Traci, love waiting for treats (not so much the waiting part, though). Theodore and Princess Poppy (im)patiently waiting for treats Piper is rocking some cute Dante wings for Halloween! Piper wins Best Halloween costume Bruni is SO adorable, and yes, there is a bit of a theme of some of our animals being named after Disney characters. We’re sure that’s no big surprise, though! Bruni is ready for breaking Disney news! Kairi was feeling patriotic in a way that would make Sam the Eagle proud (it’s a patriotic Lamb Chop toy — so cute!). Kairi with her patriotic Lambchop Meet Nola and Olive, who don’t usually like to be so close to each other, but sometimes cats do random things! Nola and Olive. No touchee. Nixon got a new office bed recently, and we’d say he’s loving it. Nixon is hard at work We are IN LOVE with Bentley’s one floppy ear here. Bentley keeps one ear up for breaking Disney news It’s not just dogs and cats that are running our offices, though. There are horses, too. Meet Atlas. The latest Disney news, straight from the horse’s mouth Bunnies are busy bossing us around, too. Some bunny is ready to cover a big Disney story Tyrion loves a good roll in the leaves…but, seriously, who doesn’t? Bring on fall! Rolling around in the leaves is our fave fall hobby These are just a few of the furbabies who do the REAL work here at DFB by keeping us all motivated and laughing, even if they sometimes just get in the way by “helping.” And they almost always crash our work video meetings. They are as much a part of the team as we mere humans, and life would be boring without them. How Disney Keeps Its Animals Cozy During the Winter Speaking of animals, one of our favorite Disney World parks is Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Southwest Airlines has been in the news a LOT recently in the past year or so, and not always for the best reasons. We’re warning you now — there’s ANOTHER change hitting this airline, but you may be happier with this one than some of the others. Southwest Airlines at MCO Earlier this year, it was announced that new Southwest lounges are on the way, which is great for customers who stayed loyal to them throughout the controversial changes that came before, which consisted of changing their open seating policy and getting rid of free checked bags. This new update, however, is more of a positive one, depending on how you look at it — Southwest Airlines is completely revamping their Rapid Rewards membership. The next evolution of Southwest Airlines’ award-winning Rapid Rewards program is here, and it features Silver, Gold, and Platinum tiers, new Milestone Rewards to earn to get your towards status, more opportunities for Companion Pass trips, and a faster path to tier status for Rapid Rewards Credit Cardmembers. ©Southwest Beginning in January 2027, Rapid Rewards will continue to offer the benefits that members love about it, including no blackout dates, points that don’t expire, and flexible options to earn tier status through both Tier Qualifying Points (TQPs) and qualifying flights. These changes are just adding new perks to various tiers. The highest status will be Platinum, which will come with an Unlimited Companion Pass. Southwest Airlines As for Silver and Gold tiers, A-List will become Silver and A-List Preferred will become Gold. Additionally, Members will no longer have to wait until reaching a new tier to receive rewards, because Southwest is adding Milestone Rewards along a Member’s tier journey. Before Members reach Silver status, they’ll be able to select rewards like Rapid Rewards points or seat certificates, and between Gold and Platinum tiers, Members can qualify to receive three Companion Pass trips. Southwest Airplanes Every Rapid Rewards Credit Cardmember, including Plus Cardmembers, will also earn one TQP for every dollar spent on purchases with a Rapid Rewards Credit Card from Chase, giving cardmembers a faster way to earn status. As for how you use your Rapid Rewards points, beginning in Spring 2027, Members will be able to earn and redeem Rapid Rewards points for travel through new international airline loyalty partnerships, which will begin with Icelandair, China Airlines, and Etihad Airways. Later on in 2027, Rapid Rewards Members will also be able to use points for seat selection on Southwest-operated flights, including Extra Legroom and Preferred seats. However, beginning this year, in November 2026, Members can redeem Rapid Rewards points for rental cars across all participating car rental partners directly through the Southwest rental cars website. Southwest Planes at Orlando International Airport Don’t forget that the new Southwest Icon Lounge network, in partnership with Chase, is arriving in late 2027, which will be another great perk for Cardmembers. In Fall 2027, Southwest will also begin to have some of the fastest wifi in the sky, thanks to Starlink, which will be free for Rapid Rewards members.
