Dear My Disney Experience (aka the Disney World app), thank you for keeping track of Lightning Lanes, dining reservations, and hotel stays. We also love that we can choose our own profile characters that match our personality, and we spend far too much time searching for wait times. But we are starting to wonder whatâs happening to these two features that have simply been abandoned. ©Disney The My Disney Experience app truly keeps us sane throughout our trip and is your one-stop for everything you need to know during your vacation. Itâs been going through quite a bit of changes lately, including adding artificial intelligence and more, but now the app has too many issues that have us scratching our heads. While we have the main My Disney Experience app, the Play Disney Parks app recently shut down with little warning. We used this app to entertain ourselves in line with games and trivia, plus Batuu Bounty Hunters and DuckTales World Showcase Adventure. Now that the Play Disney Parks app is no more, what happened to the games? ©Disney Right now, you canât play them! According to Scott Gustin on X, DuckTales World Showcase Adventure will return, but itâs unclear what the updated experience will look like without the app. The experience was under refurbishment before the app closed, and while some guests theorize they might retheme it (AGAIN!), Disney hasnât confirmed or denied anything. ©Disney For the Star Wars experiences, there has been no word on whatâs happening. Right now, you can spot QR codes around Galaxyâs Edge at Hollywood Studios that donât do much. It also feels a bit silly to see the QR codes around, since they donât match Galaxyâs Edgeâs aesthetic, no matter how hard they try to blend in. Bounty Hunters So whatâs happening to the app? Disney hasnât announced anything, but weâre hoping DuckTales makes it into the My Disney Experience app, since right now itâs an abandoned experience. The 2026 EPCOT Food and Wine Festival is in FULL swing with over 30 global marketplaces, live entertainment, and several scavenger hunts. This is one of the most popular EPCOT festivals, which tends to bring large crowds and long lines, and there are some food booths that ALWAYS have a line! Food and Wine Festival Crowds We never want you to be surprised on your Disney World vacation, so weâre giving you a full list of the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival booths that ALWAYS have a line. So, be sure to prepare some extra time for those booths because those lines are well worth the wait! France The France booth at EVERY EPCOT festival tends to have a long line, and itâs because the food is just SO good! Fall break is alive and well in Disney World, which is a time of year many people forget about, then wonder why in the world thereâs a random 3-4 weeks in between the end of summer and Thanksgiving week that are absolutely bonkers. Yep, thatâs why. Crowds in Magic Kingdom Itâs also hard to track when exactly fall breaks will cause high crowds, since they land in different weeks for various schools. This does mean the crowds are a bit more spread out, rather than arriving all at once, but it still means Disney World becomes more intense than many people expect it to be for early October. But other than being shoulder to shoulder with thousands of your closest strangers, what else can you expect from Disney World this week? The answer? A LOT. We saw a popular Swan & Dolphin restaurant reopen after a months-long closure due to a fire, which was a real win, and weâre happy to report that a popular EPCOT store has also finally reopened after a few weeks closed for refurbishment and is looking great. Letâs take a look at what you need to expect in terms of closures and ongoing construction in Disney World from October 16th through October 23rd. Magic Kingdom Walt Disney World Railroad The Walt Disney World Railroad temporarily closed on September 28th for reasons that Disney hasnât released. Fortunately, the closure isnât expected to last long. The Walt Disney World Railroad Disney has listed that the train should reopen on October 30th, so weâll only have to go without it for about a month. When it reopens, though, a reminder that itâll only be running from Main Street to Fantasyland and back, as the Frontierland station is closed due to construction happening in Villains Land and Piston Peak. Carousel of Progress Carousel of Progress closed on July 6th to undergo a major refurbishment. The work will include completely revamping the scenes in the attraction to make them more modern and represent more recent parts of history, as well as adding a new Walt Disney animatronic at the opening. ©Disney Currently, the attraction is set to reopen in 2027, though no official date has been set yet. Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island An iconic part of the Magic Kingdom is now permanently closed. As of July 7th, 2025, the Rivers of America, including the Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island, are permanently closed to make way for the new Cars area, Piston Peak. There are lots of construction walls up in the area now, and the structures on Tom Sawyer Island have been demolished. Most recently, we saw some pretty great updates on the progress at the site! via @bioreconstruct on X/Twitter Piston Peak National Park will be replacing this area of the Magic Kingdom. Disney has not yet announced an opening date for the new Cars area, but we do know it will feature two brand-new attractions and be themed to look like a National Park. Disney Just Dropped 8 NEW Magic Kingdom Snacks, And We Have High Hopes Disneyâs Hollywood Studios Muppets Courtyard Muppet*Vision 3D and PizzeRizzo closed on June 8th, 2025, and Muppets Courtyard has been walled off for construction on the new Monsters, Inc. land. Mama Melroseâs Ristorante Italiano has been closed since May 11th, 2025. Most recently, we got to see a closer look at some of the details in the land. Weâve spotted some colorful tiles that look almost like dragon (or monster) scales that have been added to the top of one of the buildings, and thereâs even a merchandise cart outside the walls now, already selling Monsters, Inc. merchandise! Look at those tiles! Weâll get to explore their world during H.U.M.A.N. Day, or âHumans Understand Monsters Are Niceâ Day, with Disney continuing to say, âHuman guests will have the chance to explore the city, meet its citizens, taste unique cuisine, and step into the everyday world of monsters in a totally new way. For the first time, two worlds once separated are meeting face to scaly, furry, and fang-filled face â brought together not by screams, but by laughter.â ©Disney Itâs also been fully confirmed that Harryhausenâs will be one of the restaurants in the new land, in addition to Archieâs Square Pig Pizza. Most recently, we got a look at some of the new food coming to the land, and weâve gotta say, weâre pretty excited! ©Disney If youâre missing The Muppets, you can go visit them at Rock ânâ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets right now! 5 Disney World Rides Will Be Closed for Refurbishment in November EPCOT Coral Reef Restaurant Coral Reef, one of the most controversial restaurants in all of Disney World, closed for refurbishment on September 8th. Coral Reef Restaurant The Disney World website recently adjusted to allow guests to begin booking reservations again on November 4th and beyond, which weâre now considering the reopening date, unless Disney tells us differently. Sections of Germany Pavilion On July 13th, both the guest bathrooms in the Germany Pavilion and the majority of the Volkskunst store in EPCOTâs Germany Pavilion closed for refurbishment. The roof of Das Kaufhaus is also under refurbishment. Totally closed While a Cast Member did tell us the store closure was to fix the Cast Member bathrooms out of sight, Disney has not revealed a reopening date for the store or the public bathrooms. Other parts of the pavilion are also seeing construction and refurbishment, but are not causing additional closures. BIG Changes Confirmed for the 2027 EPCOT Festival of the Arts Disneyâs Animal Kingdom DinoLand, USA On February 2nd, DinoLand, USA, officially closed to make way for the new Tropical Americas land, Pueblo Esperanza. Most recently, thanks to an update from @bioreconstruct, we can see a waterproof barrier has been added to the concrete walls at the base of the frame for Antonioâs Fiesta de Encanto. ©Bioreconstruct We can also see lots of work happening at the front of the new Indiana Jones ride, Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent! ©bioreconstruct This new land will have three new rides: El Carrusel de los Animalitos featuring classic Disney animals, Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent where youâll explore a Mayan temple, and Antonioâs Fiesta de Encanto that invites you into the Madrigalsâ home. We canât wait to continue to see how it all shapes up. Youâve Got Questions, and Weâve Got Answers: What Exactly IS About To Happen at Nomad Lounge in Disney World? Disney World Hotels Disneyâs Port Orleans â French Quarter Scat Catâs Club and Lounge at Disneyâs Port Orleans â French Quarter officially closed for refurbishment on October 6th. Donât worry, you can still grab the iconic beignets next door at Sassagoula Floatworks & Food Factory Mickey Beignets at Disneyâs Port Orleans Resort Additionally, to make up for the lack of drinks at the lounge, a temporary bar will be available near the cafe from 5 PM to 11 PM each night. When it comes to reopening, the cafe is set to be closed till December and the Lounge until January, though Disney hasnât released official dates. All-Star Sports Resort Disney quietly announced that Grandstand Spirits Pool Bar is closing for a refurbishment. It closed on September 18th and is expected to last through mid-December 2026. Grandstand Spirits During the closure, we recommend you swing by End Zone Food Court, just a short walk away from the pool, to snag your eats and drinks. Disneyâs Animal Kingdom Lodge There are numerous closures taking place around Animal Kingdom Lodge over the next few months that may affect your vacation. The main lobby and primary entrance were set to be closed from August 17th through October 9th, and check-in moved to the Palace Library. Additionally, from September 28th through October 9th, the north side lobby corridor was set to be closed, which closed the north side lobby elevators on the second floor and the outdoor terrace observation deck. However, during a recent visit, itâs clear that this refurbishment is far from over. Disneyâs Animal Kingdom Lodge Currently, the section of the lobby closest to the back savanna has reopened, which includes the refurbished stairs, giving guests access between the lobby level, Sanaa, and the savanna, and also opens up the walking path between the two sides of the resort. However, the rest of the lobby and Johari Treasures refurbishment is far from complete. Cast Members donât have an estimate for when it will be finished, but it definitely wonât be soon, based on the level of construction we still saw. The refurbished stairs! The other refurbishment thatâs about to begin is: October 26th through November 6th: The south side lobby corridor will be closed. During this time, Community Hall, Safari So Good Arcade, the laundry room, the Palace Library, lobby restrooms, and the outdoor terrace observation deck will be unavailable. Sassagoula River Cruise â Disneyâs Old Key West Resort The Sassagoula River Cruise at Disneyâs Old Key West, which takes guests to Disney Springs, is temporarily closed. Itâs expected to reopen on November 1st, and until that time, bus transportation will be available. Old Key West Dock This spot was also closed from late July to early August this year as well, so itâs possible, but not confirmed, that the boats and/or docks may require additional maintenance that wasnât initially expected. Convention Center and El Centro Corridor â Disneyâs Coronado Springs Resort Beginning on August 10th, the Convention Center at Disneyâs Coronado Springs Resort began a planned refurbishment that is expected to last through September 2027. Coronado Springs Additionally, the hotelâs El Centro Corridor and surrounding areas will also undergo refurbishment tied to the convention center refurbishment. While thereâs no end date for this construction project, we do know that work will be completed in phases, with certain spaces being temporarily inaccessible at times. Disneyâs Grand Floridian Resort & Spa This hotel has been undergoing refurbishments for quite some time now, but some sections of the hotel â specifically the porte cochere â will continue to undergo refurbishment through at least early 2027. Disneyâs Grand Floridian Resort We certainly hope itâll actually reopen on this timeline â weâre a little tired of seeing construction all over this beautiful hotel! Bay Lake Tower at Disneyâs Contemporary Resort Currently, work is taking place all over Bay Lake Tower through Late 2027. Bay Lake Tower While currently no major closures are taking place due to this construction, itâs important to note that you may see or hear construction during your stay. Disneyâs Saratoga Springs Resort The tennis courts at Disneyâs Saratoga Springs Resort are currently closed for refurbishment. Saratoga Springs While Disney hasnât shared an exact reopening date, the current timeline is that theyâll be closed from late August through November 2026. Disneyâs BoardWalk Inn and Resort The Promenade Fine Art Gallery closed its Disneyâs Boardwalk location on October 20th, 2025. However, the Promenade Fine Art Gallery isnât closing for good, and it will just be moving to a new location. Promenade Fine Art Gallery Disney filed permits for the Boardwalk titled âProject Amazonâ and âProject Bubblesâ earlier this year, and now that we have a bit more information on them, weâre thinking that this currently vacant spot could soon become the home of the new Basin on the Boardwalk store on its way! The shop will be rooted in the resortâs classic boardwalk heritage and will offer a sensory shopping experience that is described as âboth timeless and distinctly new.â Never Book a Disney World Trip Without Clicking This Button Weâll be sure to keep you updated on all the latest Disney World news, so stay tuned to DFB! Could this new limited-time offering get more people on board with Universal Kids Resort? Universal Kids Resort Universal Kids Resort is a new theme park that opened in Frisco, Texas earlier this year in July. The park has seven lands and over 30 attractions themed after Shrek, SpongeBob, Minions, Trolls, Puss in Boots, and Jurassic World. Since it opened, itâs gotten a mix of good and bad reviews from guests. Now, the theme park is launching an all-new limited-time Explorer Ticket thatâll give guests even more ways to play! Could this change things? Universal Kids Resort is expanding on its ticket and annual pass offerings to provide guests with more flexibility, value, and ways to enjoy the new theme park. They launched the Gold Annual Pass last month, and now the resort is debuting a new limited-time Explorer Ticket. Halloween is right around the corner, and if youâve been following along on Disney Parks Blog over the past two months, you may have noticed an extra dash of frightful fun across Disney Parks around the world. From August 21 through October 31, Disneyland Resort is once again home to plenty of seasonal magic complete with touches of Halloween excitement. Now, fans can bring some of that fun to their devices with a new set of downloadable wallpapers inspired by new decorations now up at Pixar Place Hotel. Disney Parks Blog recently caught up with Disney artist Brett Snodgrass, whose latest creation transforms familiar faces from Disney and Pixarâs Monsters, Inc. into a playful Halloween celebratory theme at Pixar Place Hotel. The colorful artwork features an assortment of recognizable monster pals dressed in festive costumes and surrounded by candy-and-door-filled scenes that capture the true spirit of the season. WALLPAPER Download Phone Desktop Smart Watch WALLPAPER Download Phone Desktop Smart Watch WALLPAPER Download Phone Desktop Smart Watch WALLPAPER Download Phone Desktop Smart Watch Spot Favorite Monsters, Inc. Friends in These Clever Wallpapers Mike and Sulley may be the dynamic duo at the heart of Monsters, Inc. but no Pixar story is complete without a memorable supporting cast. These downloadable wallpapers feature plenty of familiar monster friends (and one hidden human), allowing you to spot your favorite characters across the colorful designs. One of the coolest details in this delightful batch of wallpapers? The use of the iconic âdoorsâ, pulled straight from the creative vision of the original 2001 movie. This creative nod immediately brings back memories of watching the opening sequence of Monsters, Inc. on our old-school VHS as a kid, highlighting one of the filmâs most recognizable visual elements. Bringing these creative designs to life requires months of endless passion and collaboration between teams at Walt Disney Imagineering, Pixar Animation Studios, and Resort Enhancement at Disneyland Resort, all working together to create an environment that celebrates the world of Monstropolis in a festive and clever way. âThere are some brilliant concept artists whoâve worked on the Monsters, Inc. and Monsters University movies over the years, and I think theyâre just beautiful movies,â Brett said. âSo, I really dug into what the other artists have done. Guests are going to see a lot of shapes and compositions that really reflect some of that early concept artwork.â To bring this vision to life, Brett partnered closely with the always-creative Pixar minds over in Emeryville to make sure that the characters featured at Pixar Place Hotel stayed true to the established look, personality, and story. Once the artwork was officially signed, sealed, and delivered to the colorful lobby inside the hotel, it was time to transform these concepts into a real-life environment at the hotel. Now, they are being brought to life as downloadable wallpapers for desktop, mobile, and smart watch devices. WALLPAPER Download Phone Desktop Smart Watch WALLPAPER Download Phone Desktop Smart Watch WALLPAPER Download Phone Desktop Smart Watch Scoop Up Some Sweet Treats with Candy-Inspired Wallpapers In my book, October means a few things: Halloween costumes, postseason baseball, and plenty of candy to keep the season feeling extra sweet. With these colorful, downloadable wallpaper designs, fans can celebrate one of Halloweenâs most iconic traditions from their desktop, mobile device, or smart watch. With playful, candy-filled artwork featuring favorite Monstropolis-inspired treats like âBog Water Taffy,â âCarasmell Chews,â and âSludge Brownies,â these designs are a yummy reminder that a little sugar and creativity can go a long way as October 31 approaches. And for those preparing to stay at one of the three Hotels of the Disneyland Resort in October, the sweet fun doesnât stop there. For a limited-time, overnight guests can explore a delicious trick-or-treat trail across all three Hotels of the Disneyland Resort. To participate in this fun, seasonal (and complimentary) experience on select days in October, be sure to visit the Front Desk to sign up and receive your own wristband, goodie guide, and treat bag. If youâre traveling to Disneyland Resort during Halloween Time this year, you can also save up to 20% on select room types for stays of three or more nights at a Disneyland Resort hotel from October 11 through December 18, 2026. Make sure to swing by The Sketch Pad CafĂ© for a sweet seasonal pastry and check out the first-ever Monsters Inc.-inspired Halloween decor at Pixar Place Hotel. Be sure to search for your favorite characters, discover hidden details sprinkled throughout the artwork, and snap a few photos on your phone (using one of these wallpapers for your background, of course) with these awesome displays during your next visit. Weâve got amazing news for you, but terrible news for your wallet! Thereâs another store thatâs just opened in Disney Springs, and yes, that means that our wallets are about to explode (and yours probably will too â just a heads-up). Vuori is open! Disney Springs has been doing a lot of store closures and swap-outs this year, which has been quite interesting to see. Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill closed just a few months ago, and by early April this year, weâd already seen three major spots close. Vuori is the newest spot thatâs just been added to the Disney Springs, and itâs about to do some serious damage on our wallets. Vuori is a California-based athletic wear brand known for its comfortable joggers and athleisure pieces. They operate 40 stores in major U.S. cities, including Los Angeles, Chicago, Denver, New York, San Francisco, Boston, and now Orlando, Florida! Youâll also find the brand sold at places like Nordstrom, REI, and Equinox, as well as the former Shore storefront at Disney Springs. Now, if you want to grab a fit straight from the shop, you donât have to go far. The new store! We really love the way that thereâs plenty to look at, while thereâs also lots of space to move around. Sometimes stores feel a bit too crowded, but this is a great size for this store. We didnât feel cramped at all. So much to see! Youâll find the store to be neatly organized, with some of it even split by color, making it easy to find the shades youâre searching. Very organized! There are plenty of items here for both men and women, as well as items for all seasons. That means youâll find something great for the warmer days this fall, as well as some stylish items for when the winter weather comes in. Remember, Orlando DOES indeed get cold, so there very well may be days you find yourself in need of a jacket. So much to check out! Want to make sure you didnât miss any recent Disney Springs news? Weâve seen some pretty long lines in Disney World, and theyâre usually for rides like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT and Rise of the Resistance in Disneyâs Hollywood Studios. But today, one of the longest lines in Disney World isnât even in the theme parks! World of Disney So we recently told you about a MAJOR drop happening at World of Disney for the newest Lorcana set, Hyperia City. Well, letâs just say that the line to buy the set at World of Disney in Disney Springs is pretty long right now. So hereâs the deal: the new Lorcana drop at World of Disney is using a virtual queue (probably because Disney KNEW there would be a HUGE demand for it). So we signed up for the virtual queue ourselves as soon as we could and still landed in group 40. Group 40!!! Our estimated wait time was 30 minutes at 6 AM today. ©Disney When we arrived at Disney Springs, a long line had already formed at World of Disney and was literally wrapping around the shopping/dining district. This Lorcana drop is HUGE. The card game is seriously popular online and in person, as you can see below. The line is LONG Things were pretty busy INSIDE the store, too, so if youâre just shopping there for something else, GOOD LUCK. Yep, itâs busy! So whatâs got everyone so excited? Lorcana is a collectible card game that includes Disney characters and stories. The new Hyperia City drop includes brand new cards with characters from Coco, Zootopia, The Goofy Movie, Sleeping Beauty, Big Hero 6, and more. Baymax Card Each sleeved booster pack is $5.99, while the booster display box is $129.99. The Illumineerâs Trove is $49.99. Ilumineerâs Cove A two-player deck is $29.99. The Snowboarding Stitch and Miguel Playmats are $24.99, while the I2I playmat is $39.99. I2E Playmat The Curatorâs Collection: Beauty and the Beast Edition is $99.99. Curatorâs Collection: Beauty and the Beast Edition Basically, if youâre visiting Disney Springs today, you may want to stay away from World of Disney because itâs going to be very busy today with folks buying the new Lorcana collection. Weâll continue to keep an eye on it, though, and get back to you with any updates, so stay tuned to DFB for more. Weâve already started planning our Disney World trips for 2027, and itâs time to get those calendars out again, because a beloved event is returning next year! Banana Ball crowd! If youâve been following the Disney Food Blog for a while, you know how much we love the Savanah Bananas (Jackson Olsen is basically AJâs little brother), so you can imagine how much we freaked out when we heard that Banana Ball is returning to Disney World in 2027. Whoâs ready for some more Banana Ball?! Thatâs rhetorical â we know you are! The Banana Ball schedule has finally announced its 2027 schedule, and it includes the Banana Ball Open, which is a four-game experience taking place on April 15th-18th. During the Banana Ball Open, all six teams will compete head-to-head at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Disney World. We had a blast at Banana Ball at Disney World when it first came, and weâre so excited to see it return, and this time with such a big event for the league! Such a fun game! This is the second time that Banana Ball has come to Disney World. Disney World hosted two Banana Ball games earlier in the year this year. Itâs such a fun game, and we couldnât recommend it enough. If youâre interested in seeing the Banana Ball Open in 2027, you can enter the ticket lottery right now through October 31st. All you have to do is head to the BananaBall.com website. Tickets arenât that bad, starting at $35 per person. Party Animals on the field! If youâve never seen a Banana Ball game, this isnât your usual baseball game. Itâs a whole different fun-filled twist on the traditional game, with a whole bunch of wacky rules. Rules like getting ejected for bunting (because âbunting sucksâ), sprinting after four balls before every defensive player on the field touches the ball, and a team sending any hitter in the lineup to bat in any spot one time in the game. Those are only a few of the MANY wonky rules. Itâs time for Banana Ball! To get to the game, you will have to pre-purchase parking. There is also the option to take a Minnie Van, as the service provides transportation to and from select locations within Walt Disney World Resort, including ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. Prices vary based on distance traveled. Banana Ball! Itâs a good day to be a Banana Ball fan, because the news doesnât end there. Thereâs also a new Banana Ball documentary coming to Disney+ and Hulu in the fall of 2027. The documentary follows the origin of Banana Ball from Savannah, Georgia. It starts with its beginnings 10 years ago and how itâs become what it is today. It will feature inside stories, personalities, and the community behind the sports sensation. Banana Ball! The film is directed by David Beilinson and produced by Connor Schellâs Words + Pictures, Benj Pasek, and Justin Paulâs Ampersand. The documentary will feature 11 original songs from Pasek & Paul, with additional songwriters Ashley Gorley, Cal Shapiro, Ben Johnson, Adam Yaron, Jake Sinclair, Brandon Bomer, Jarius Jones, and Jesse Cole. Banana Ball! As Banana Ball fans, weâre always keeping an eye out for what theyâre going to do with Disney. So, if youâre a fan or you just want to stay up to date on all the latest Disney news and updates, make sure to follow us at the Disney Food Blog! Here at DFB, we have a Friday tradition we lovingly refer to as Furr-idays. Binx and his banshee On Fridays, I prompt everyone on the team to share a recent photo of their furbabies, and we âoohâ and âaahâ over each and every one (or laugh, depending on what theyâre up to in said photo). Itâs a great way to get into the weekend spirit, but also gives us a chance to bond as a team over our love of animals. And, as you may have suspected, these furbabies really are our bosses, so Iâd like to introduce some of them to you. So how did our Furr-iday tradition begin? Well, a member of our team who is no longer with us started prompting us every Friday to post photos of our pets on our Slack chat. When that member left, I took it upon myself to keep the tradition going, and it became Furr-iday! I usually post a photo of one of my five cats (usually the two youngest, Taylor and Binx, because they are always doing something precocious). So meet Taylor (who is, yes, named after Taylor Swift) on her Haunted Mansion blankie. Binx, well, thatâs him up above cuddled up with the Banshee I got in Animal Kingdom years ago. Taylor is a Haunted Mansion fan Weâve got another cat duo, Theodore and Princess Poppy, who own DFB team member Traci, love waiting for treats (not so much the waiting part, though). Theodore and Princess Poppy (im)patiently waiting for treats Piper is rocking some cute Dante wings for Halloween! Piper wins Best Halloween costume Bruni is SO adorable, and yes, there is a bit of a theme of some of our animals being named after Disney characters. Weâre sure thatâs no big surprise, though! Bruni is ready for breaking Disney news! Kairi was feeling patriotic in a way that would make Sam the Eagle proud (itâs a patriotic Lamb Chop toy â so cute!). Kairi with her patriotic Lambchop Meet Nola and Olive, who donât usually like to be so close to each other, but sometimes cats do random things! Nola and Olive. No touchee. Nixon got a new office bed recently, and weâd say heâs loving it. Nixon is hard at work We are IN LOVE with Bentleyâs one floppy ear here. Bentley keeps one ear up for breaking Disney news Itâs not just dogs and cats that are running our offices, though. There are horses, too. Meet Atlas. The latest Disney news, straight from the horseâs mouth Bunnies are busy bossing us around, too. Some bunny is ready to cover a big Disney story Tyrion loves a good roll in the leavesâŠbut, seriously, who doesnât? Bring on fall! Rolling around in the leaves is our fave fall hobby These are just a few of the furbabies who do the REAL work here at DFB by keeping us all motivated and laughing, even if they sometimes just get in the way by âhelping.â And they almost always crash our work video meetings. They are as much a part of the team as we mere humans, and life would be boring without them. How Disney Keeps Its Animals Cozy During the Winter Speaking of animals, one of our favorite Disney World parks is Disneyâs Animal Kingdom. Southwest Airlines has been in the news a LOT recently in the past year or so, and not always for the best reasons. Weâre warning you now â thereâs ANOTHER change hitting this airline, but you may be happier with this one than some of the others. Southwest Airlines at MCO Earlier this year, it was announced that new Southwest lounges are on the way, which is great for customers who stayed loyal to them throughout the controversial changes that came before, which consisted of changing their open seating policy and getting rid of free checked bags. This new update, however, is more of a positive one, depending on how you look at it â Southwest Airlines is completely revamping their Rapid Rewards membership. The next evolution of Southwest Airlinesâ award-winning Rapid Rewards program is here, and it features Silver, Gold, and Platinum tiers, new Milestone Rewards to earn to get your towards status, more opportunities for Companion Pass trips, and a faster path to tier status for Rapid Rewards Credit Cardmembers. ©Southwest Beginning in January 2027, Rapid Rewards will continue to offer the benefits that members love about it, including no blackout dates, points that donât expire, and flexible options to earn tier status through both Tier Qualifying Points (TQPs) and qualifying flights. These changes are just adding new perks to various tiers. The highest status will be Platinum, which will come with an Unlimited Companion Pass. Southwest Airlines As for Silver and Gold tiers, A-List will become Silver and A-List Preferred will become Gold. Additionally, Members will no longer have to wait until reaching a new tier to receive rewards, because Southwest is adding Milestone Rewards along a Memberâs tier journey. Before Members reach Silver status, theyâll be able to select rewards like Rapid Rewards points or seat certificates, and between Gold and Platinum tiers, Members can qualify to receive three Companion Pass trips. Southwest Airplanes Every Rapid Rewards Credit Cardmember, including Plus Cardmembers, will also earn one TQP for every dollar spent on purchases with a Rapid Rewards Credit Card from Chase, giving cardmembers a faster way to earn status. As for how you use your Rapid Rewards points, beginning in Spring 2027, Members will be able to earn and redeem Rapid Rewards points for travel through new international airline loyalty partnerships, which will begin with Icelandair, China Airlines, and Etihad Airways. Later on in 2027, Rapid Rewards Members will also be able to use points for seat selection on Southwest-operated flights, including Extra Legroom and Preferred seats. However, beginning this year, in November 2026, Members can redeem Rapid Rewards points for rental cars across all participating car rental partners directly through the Southwest rental cars website. Southwest Planes at Orlando International Airport Donât forget that the new Southwest Icon Lounge network, in partnership with Chase, is arriving in late 2027, which will be another great perk for Cardmembers. In Fall 2027, Southwest will also begin to have some of the fastest wifi in the sky, thanks to Starlink, which will be free for Rapid Rewards members. Disney World is already making plans for 2027, and one of our favorite EPCOT festivals is getting some BIG changes! The EPCOT International Festival of the Arts is returning in 2027, bringing back the incredible food, Disney artwork, Broadway performances, and interactive experiences that have made this festival a favorite among Disney fans. Festival of the Arts! While weâre still waiting for the full menus and entertainment schedules, Disney has confirmed some interesting changes for next yearâs event. One gives us MORE time to enjoy the festival, another puts a popular Disney trading card game in the spotlight, and the third makes us ask questions about our beloved Food Studios. Letâs take a look at whatâs changing! The Festival Is Getting LONGER! Weâll start with some good news, because this is a change weâre happy to see! Disney has confirmed that the 2027 EPCOT International Festival of the Arts will run from January 15th through March 1st, 2027. Thatâs a pretty significant extension compared with the 2026 festival, which ran from January 16th through February 23rd. In fact, weâre getting an entire additional week! The 2026 festival lasted 39 days, while the 2027 event will run for 46 days. For a festival that has traditionally had one of the shortest runs on EPCOTâs calendar, thatâs a welcome change. 2026 EPCOT International Festival of the Arts Festival of the Arts has always been one of those events where we wish we had a little more time. Between trying all the food, browsing the artwork, meeting Disney artists, and catching performances, itâs easy to fill an entire day without making it through everything. The visiting artists and Broadway performers change throughout the event, so you often get something different on a return trip. An extra week also gives guests planning late-February Disney World vacations a better chance to catch the festival before it disappears for another year. Disney on Broadway concert series Disney Lorcana Is Taking Center Stage If you visited the 2026 Festival of the Arts, you probably noticed Disney Lorcana making its presence known. The popular Disney trading card game brought several interactive experiences to EPCOT, giving fans opportunities to participate in special activities and collect exclusive merchandise. For 2027, Disney is taking that relationship a step further. Found Stitch! The festivalâs official name is now EPCOT International Festival of the Arts Presented by Disney Lorcana Trading Card Game. Thatâs a pretty prominent position for a game that only made its Festival of the Arts debut in 2026! Disney has also confirmed the return of several Lorcana experiences, including the Ink & Find Scavenger Hunt, Collection Quest, and Illumineerâs Lounge. The festival will also offer exclusive promotional items and gifts with purchase. Disney Lorcana Quest Book And thereâs another reason collectors might want to pay attention. During D23 in 2026, Disney announced that Figment will appear on a Disney Lorcana trading card for the first time, with an exclusive EPCOT card planned for the festival. Given Figmentâs popularity among Festival of the Arts fans, we think that collectible could attract serious attention. Figment Artist Popcorn Bucket Weâre curious to see how much of the festivalâs merchandise and activities will revolve around Lorcana this year. The partnership makes sense. Festival of the Arts celebrates Disney artwork and creativity, and Lorcana centers on collecting beautifully illustrated Disney characters. Still, itâs a noticeable shift for an event that has traditionally focused on Disney artists, food, and Broadway entertainment. Whether youâre a dedicated Lorcana collector or just want to admire the artwork without learning the rules of a trading card game, itâll be interesting to see how Disney weaves the partnership into the overall festival experience. Breea loves Lorcana! WaitâŠAre We Getting FEWER Food Studios? Now, THIS is the announcement that caught our attention. Disney has confirmed that the 2027 Festival of the Arts will feature 19 Food Studios throughout EPCOT. That might sound like plenty of food, and it is! But hereâs why weâre raising an eyebrow. In 2026, Disney advertised more than 20 Food Studios, along with additional locations serving festival-exclusive food and drinks. Full Spread at Figmentâs Imagination Station For 2027, the official announcement specifically mentions 19. So, are we losing some of our favorite festival booths? Itâs possible, but we donât have enough information to say for certain. Disney hasnât released the complete 2027 Food Studio lineup or menus, and the difference could involve how certain food locations are being counted. Still, itâs something weâll be watching. Hazelnut Praline Boller The Food Studios are arguably one of the biggest reasons to visit Festival of the Arts. Unlike the Food & Wine Festival, which tends to emphasize international flavors, Festival of the Arts gives Disneyâs culinary teams a chance to get creative with presentation. Weâre talking dishes that look like miniature paintings, desserts that belong in an art gallery, and food combinations that occasionally make us wonder what was happening in the test kitchen. Sometimes those experiments become our favorites! Butterfly Blue Weâll have to wait for the official Foodie Guide to know whether weâre losing any booths, which favorites are returning, and what new dishes Disney has planned. Weâre hoping the smaller announced number doesnât mean fewer opportunities to eat our way around EPCOT. Because when it comes to festival food, weâre not particularly interested in practicing restraint. Disney on Broadway Is Coming Back! Fortunately, some of our favorite Festival of the Arts traditions arenât going anywhere. Disney has confirmed that the DISNEY ON BROADWAY Concert Series will return to the America Gardens Theatre in EPCOTâs American Adventure pavilion. These performances bring Broadway stars to EPCOT to perform songs from Disneyâs stage productions, including favorites from The Lion King, Aladdin, and Beauty and the Beast. Itâs one of the festivalâs highlights, especially if you love musical theater. Aladdin during the Broadway Concert Series in EPCOT The complete 2027 performer schedule hasnât been announced yet, but Disney has confirmed that concerts will take place several times each evening. The performances are included with regular EPCOT admission, with first-come, first-served seating. And if you prefer having a guaranteed seat instead of spending your evening waiting in line, Disney has also confirmed that DISNEY ON BROADWAY Dining Packages will return. These packages pair a meal at a participating EPCOT restaurant with guaranteed seating at a concert later that day. Disney hasnât announced the participating restaurants, prices, or booking dates for 2027, so weâre still watching those details. Adam Jacobs and Isabelle McCalla â Disney on Broadway 2026 Your Favorite Festival Traditions Are Returning While the dates, Lorcana partnership, and Food Studio count are the biggest changes weâve spotted, Disney has also confirmed several returning festival experiences. And weâre glad to see some familiar favorites on the list! Animation Academy will return, allowing guests to learn how to draw Disney characters with guidance from an animator. The Expression Section: A Paint-by-Number Mural is also returning, letting guests contribute to a massive collaborative painting. Disney has also confirmed the return of Artful Photo Ops, where guests can step inside scenes inspired by famous works of art. Expression Section: Which mural will YOU help paint? Throughout the festival, guests can expect to see chalk artists creating artwork, live demonstrations featuring Disney character paintings, and musical performances. And, of course, Disney artists will showcase their work throughout EPCOT. The complete artist appearance schedule hasnât been released, but Disney says additional information about participating artists, dates, and locations will be available on its website. Darren Wilson with his Nightmare Before Christmas piece in 2025 Festival-exclusive merchandise is also returning, although we havenât seen the full collection yet. There are still a few experiences from 2026 that weâre waiting to hear more about, including the Wonderful Walk of Colorful Cuisine and Figmentâs Brush with the Masters Scavenger Hunt. Both are featured on Disneyâs festival website as 2026 highlights, but Disney hasnât confirmed their 2027 return. Weâre hoping theyâll be back! What Else Is Disney Keeping Under Wraps? Even with these announcements, some pretty big pieces are still missing from the 2027 festival picture. We havenât seen the complete Food Studio lineup, menus, or prices. Disney also hasnât released the DISNEY ON BROADWAY performer schedule, dining package details, or complete list of visiting artists. And while we know Lorcana will play a significant role, weâre still waiting for more information about the exclusive merchandise and promotional offers. Figment Cereal Treat Thereâs also the question of whether the 19 announced Food Studios represent a smaller festival food lineup or just a different way of counting participating locations. For now, thatâs the detail weâre most curious about. Weâre Ready for Another Year of Festival Food! The 2027 EPCOT International Festival of the Arts is already shaping up to be an interesting one. Weâre getting a longer festival, a much bigger spotlight on Disney Lorcana, and a Food Studio announcement that has us wondering what menu changes might be coming. Personally, weâre thrilled about the extra week. Festival of the Arts has always felt like it ends just when weâre getting into a good rhythm of eating, browsing artwork, and making excuses to buy another Disney print. But weâll be keeping a close eye on that Food Studio lineup. We talk a lot about how rainy spring and summer are in Disney World, and how itâs always important to bring a poncho, an umbrella, or both to keep yourself dry. Well, we hope you havenât packed those away just yet, because youâre about to need them BIG TIME for this winter. Tree of Life in Animal Kingdom El Niño is a weather event that happens every two to seven years, and has to do with weather patterns that have happened throughout the rest of the year. This year, weâre looking at an El Niño weather event that will absolutely affect the United States between December 2026 to February 2027, and itâs looking like itâs about to be a lot rainier than usual. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), this yearâs El Niño is going to bring wetter-than-average conditions across the southern U.S., from California all the way to Florida, as well as along the Eastern Seaboard. Additionally, warmer-than-average temperatures are expected across the northern U.S., but the drought will fortunately be improving for the majority of the country. In terms of temperatures for Florida, weâre looking at near-normal temperatures, which is a good sign. ©NOAA Ken Graham, director of NOAAâs National Weather Service, said, âWhile higher chances of rain and snow may bring relief to drought-afflicted areas, too much precipitation on dry soil can fuel destructive flash floods and mudslides. Now is the time for communities and individuals to plan ahead for the upcoming winter.â When it comes to the rain levels expected, weâre looking at wetter-than-average conditions for Florida especially. Now, this likely wonât really mean snow, since weâll be looking at the same temperatures as normal, which often donât get below freezing (though Florida absolutely does still get cold!), but you never know! ©NOAA This means that there could be many rainy, wet, cold winter days coming for Disney World, and while weâre big on the idea that any day in Disney World is better than a day elsewhere, despite what the weather may be, wet and cold often isnât a great mix. Youâll likely want to pack layers, as well as your ponchos and umbrellas, and keeping dry socks in your bag isnât a bad idea either. Parts of Disney World are known to flood, and wet socks any time arenât great, but during the winter? Yeah, major no from us. Disney Springs in the rain What really happens when Disney World floods? Disneyland Character and Parade Cast Members are set to stage a major protest just outside the theme parkâs gates this weekend in response to unhappiness regarding contract negotiations with Disney and the companyâs alleged unwillingness to settle a first contract with the unionized Cast Members. Disneyland Entrance and Train Station The rally, set to take place at 10:0 AM on Saturday, October 17th at the northwest corner of Harbor Blvd. & W. Katella Ave. in Anaheim, is being staged by the group due to claims that âDisney has slow-walked contract talks rather than negotiating a fair agreement.â The group claims that while there has been some progress related to health and safety issues, Disney has âproposed eliminating paid parental leave and reducing PTO for these workersâ and that âwage proposals have been insultingly low. In the first year of the contract, the company presented a zero percent wage increase â despite a period of high inflation.â Two years ago, the 1,700 Entertainment Cast Members in the Characters and Parades departments voted to form a union with the Actorsâ Equity Association, usually known simply as Equity, the 100+-year-old labor union that represents more than 51,000 professional actors and stage managers. Magic Happens parade in Disneyland Equityâs Executive Director Al Vincent Jr. spoke about the rally in a statement, saying, âThe message you will hear at our rally is that despite Disneyâs actions to date, we remain willing and able to bargain with the company to reach a fair contract for the character and parades workers who are the public face of Disneyland and who make a visit to the park rewarding.â Cast Members in Disneyland Disney hasnât commented on the rally at the time of writing, but they did provide their own update on the negotiations earlier this month on the Disney Experiences corporate website. It read, âDisneyland Resort values its cast members, offers competitive benefits, and is proud of its long history of working collaboratively with the unions that represent them. We began bargaining with the Actorsâ Equity Association in late 2024 and have since participated in more than 50 days of negotiations, most recently on September 9th-10th, 2026. Throughout this process, full-time and part-time cast members in this bargaining unit have continued to receive annual wage increases. In early 2026, cast members received a 4% wage increase and currently earn between $26 and $31.27 per hour, including premiums, depending on their role. As with any newly formed bargaining unit, this process is focused on establishing the initial terms and conditions of employment for cast members transitioning from non-union to union-represented roles. Negotiations are ongoing, and scheduled next for Oct. 27th-28th, 2026, and proposals may evolve as discussions continue.â Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland As labor negotiations continue between Disney and the newly unionized members of Equity, Disneyland Parade and Character Cast Members are set to hold a large rally outside the âHappiest Place on Earthâ on October 17th. Stay tuned to DFB for more on this ongoing labor story. Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! Click here to Subscribe! View the full article
