Disney World is very good at convincing us to spend money. Suddenly, a $40 tumbler feels essential because it has tiny Orange Birds on it. A $90 backpack becomes a vacation investment. And after walking through EPCOT for six hours, you may be prepared to hand over your credit card to anyone offering comfortable shoes and an air-conditioned chair. ©Disney Some pricier purchases really do earn their place in your suitcase, though. We’re talking about the things our Disney experts have owned for years, carried through multiple vacations, and used far beyond the parks. They cost more upfront, but they don’t fall apart after one humid afternoon or disappear into the back of a closet once the vacation is over. Break the price down by the number of times you’ll actually use them, and these Disney World splurges start looking surprisingly sensible. Ray-Ban Sunglasses for Men and Women Florida sunshine does not play around. It bounces off pavement, reflects off Spaceship Earth, and follows you directly into every outdoor queue with the focus of a very determined Disney villain. That makes good sunglasses one of the few Disney World purchases we refuse to treat as an afterthought. ©Amazon I’ve owned the Ray-Ban RB4420 Square Sunglasses for more than 10 years, and they are still my favorite pair. A decade is practically an archaeological era in sunglasses years, especially when you consider how many cheaper pairs end up scratched, stretched, or abandoned in a hotel nightstand. They also work beyond Disney World. Wear them while driving, traveling, running errands, or sitting by the pool. When one pair lasts 10 years, the cost per wear becomes tiny. view ON AMAZON Bombas Women’s Ankle Socks Expensive socks sound faintly ridiculous until you have walked 25,000 steps in a pair of bad ones. Bombas Women’s Ankle Socks are a favorite among our team because they add cushioning and support without turning your shoes into small portable saunas. ©Amazon Yes, Bombas socks cost more than the giant value pack you can grab almost anywhere. They also tend to keep their shape, feel comfortable through long walking days, and survive repeated washing better than many bargain pairs. These are my favorite socks. Not my favorite Disney socks. Not my favorite travel socks. My favorite socks, period. That is a strong endorsement for an item most people normally purchase while standing under fluorescent lights and thinking, “These seem fine.” view ON AMAZON Apple Watch Series 10 This is the exact Apple Watch I own, and it has become far more than a very pretty way to check the time. Once a Disney MagicMobile pass is added to Apple Wallet, it can also be added automatically to a paired Apple Watch. You can then use the watch to enter Disney theme parks and tap into virtual queue or Lightning Lane entrances when you have a valid entry. Express Mode means you do not need to unlock the device or open the Wallet app first. ©Amazon That is enormously convenient when your phone is buried beneath sunscreen, portable chargers, receipts, and the emergency snack you forgot you packed. The watch also tracks activity, delivers notifications, and helps you keep an eye on the time without repeatedly pulling out your phone. At Disney World, where your phone is already handling dining reservations, mobile orders, wait times, maps, and Lightning Lane plans, any task you can move to your wrist feels like a small vacation victory. ©Amazon It is expensive, certainly. But this is something you can wear every day for years, not a gadget that only becomes useful when you spot Cinderella Castle. view ON AMAZON Loungefly Disney Mickey Mouse Confetti Ears Mini Backpack Loungefly mini backpacks can cause a little sticker shock, especially when you compare them to larger bags that cost less. But a well-made Loungefly can last through years of park days, Disney Springs expeditions, airport terminals, and overly ambitious attempts to fit six souvenirs into one tiny backpack. I’ve had this Loungefly for two years now, and it still looks brand new. That is exactly what you want from a bag that will be carried through heat, crowds, restaurants, transportation, and the occasional Florida downpour that arrives with absolutely no respect for your itinerary. ©Amazon A Loungefly also holds more than it appears to. A small wallet, portable charger, sunscreen, sunglasses case, medication, reusable bag, and a few other essentials can fit without requiring you to carry something the size of a camping pack. Choose one design you genuinely love, take reasonable care of it, and use it trip after trip. The price feels far less dramatic once that bag has been to Disney World more times than some members of your family. view ON AMAZON New Balance Women’s FuelCell SuperComp Elite v5 Shoes are not the place to conduct a budget experiment. You can save money on plenty of vacation items. You can bring your own water bottle. You can split meals. You can bravely walk away from the $80 spirit jersey even though the color is perfect. But putting untested bargain shoes on your feet before a full Magic Kingdom day is the opening scene of a cautionary tale. ©Amazon New Balance has been one of my favorite shoe brands for years because the shoes consistently work for my feet and never let me down. The FuelCell SuperComp Elite v5 is a premium performance shoe. High-quality footwear that fits you correctly can be worth every penny. ©Amazon This particular model was designed as a race-day shoe, so test it thoroughly before declaring it your official EPCOT footwear. Shoes are personal. What feels glorious on one person’s feet may feel like an expensive little prison on someone else’s. A dependable pair can handle regular workouts, errands, travel, and years of Disney vacations. The cost per mile eventually makes those cheaper shoes you kept replacing look like the real splurge. view ON AMAZON Oura Ring 5 in Silver Some Disney fans love using an Apple Watch in the parks. Others want their wrist available for a MagicBand. The Oura Ring offers a clever compromise. You can wear your MagicBand for park entry and other Disney features while using the ring to track steps, activity, sleep, and recovery data. Oura calculates activity using both step-based movement and other daily movement, which means it can capture more than the number of times you marched across EPCOT because someone forgot to buy their festival merchandise earlier. ©Amazon The Oura Ring 5 is made with a titanium design and is significantly smaller than the previous generation. This is definitely a splurge. There may also be a membership cost to consider for access to the full range of personalized insights and features. Still, it makes sense for someone who already wants a health tracker and prefers wearing a traditional watch, a MagicBand, or no watch at all. view ON AMAZON Cashmere Wrap Some people pack handheld fans for Disney World. Some of us pack emergency cashmere. Personally, I am cold almost constantly, particularly inside Disney restaurants. You can spend an entire afternoon melting on the pavement, walk into one aggressively air-conditioned dining room, and immediately begin wondering whether the restaurant is also being used for frozen-food storage. ©Amazon A cashmere wrap solves that problem without requiring you to carry a bulky jacket all day. This one can be folded or rolled tightly enough to fit inside a Loungefly. Pull it out for restaurants, chilly buses, evening fireworks, hotel lobbies, or any indoor location where the air conditioning is bold. Cashmere costs more than a standard scarf, but it is warm without being especially heavy. It also works outside Disney World as a travel wrap, office layer, dinner accessory, or blanket substitute on a cold airplane. ©Amazon This is considerably better than purchasing another emergency sweatshirt in the parks because you did not expect Florida to become an icebox after sunset. Although, to be fair, Disney does sell some very persuasive sweatshirts. view ON AMAZON Amazon Kindle Paperwhite Disney World involves more waiting than the commercials tend to mention. You may wait for transportation, hotel check-in, a dining reservation, a nighttime show, Early Theme Park Entry, or a family member who insisted they would “be ready in five minutes.” A Kindle Paperwhite turns that empty time into reading time. This is the exact Kindle I have. While I have not personally carried mine around Disney World, I have seen AJ bring a Kindle along for waits in the parks. Frankly, that is expert-level queue preparation. ©Amazon You may not pull it out during every attraction queue. Some lines move too frequently, and others contain enough interesting details to keep you occupied. But it can be wonderful when you are waiting for a show, sitting outside a restaurant, taking a midday resort break, or giving the rest of your group another 20 minutes to finish shopping. A Kindle is also one of the easiest purchases on this list to use constantly at home. Even when your Disney vacation ends, your library remains ready for the next chapter. view ON AMAZON The best Disney World splurges are not always the flashiest ones. But when you are deciding where to spend a little more, look beyond the initial price. Think about durability, versatility, and how often you will use the item after the castle disappears from view. A product you use for 10 years may be cheaper than the “affordable” version you replace every season. When we’re at EPCOT, we love hitting GEO-82, the iconic bar inside Spaceship Earth! It has great drinks, tasty snacks, and an intimate, adults-only atmosphere. Clarified Bee’s Knees at GEO-82 But just when we thought the lounge couldn’t get better, something big at GEO-82 just got a massive upgrade! Since its opening, GEO-82 has been kind of hidden in EPCOT. There were no signs outside the building other than a folding sign that was often missing in action, and the only entrance is this little hallway that can be hard to find. But Disney just gave GEO-82 a major upgrade! GEO-82 entrance Gone are the days when tourists struggled to find GEO-82, because there’s a brand-new sign outside the entrance! This new permanent sign is dark blue to match the Bubblegum Wall, with a shiny silver GEO-82 logo on both sides. There’s a new sign in town! If you’re considering heading to GEO-82 soon, then you’re probably wondering what to get. Some of our favorite drinks include the Clarified Bee’s Knees, A Walk Through the Garden Mocktail, and the Brown Butter Old Fashioned. To eat, we recommend the Funghi Flatbread, Jumbo Lump Crab Gâteau, Jamón Ibérico Croquetas, and the Chef’s Selection of Artisanal Cheeses, Cured Meats, and Accompaniments. It’s officially Halloween season according to Disney, but the rest of the world might not be ready quite yet. Main Street Bakery Starbucks Of course, if you celebrate Halloween on the timeline of pumpkin spice lattes, then your moment is almost here! Starbucks recently announced their fall lineup of beverages, and they’re coming to locations across the U.S. on August 25th. We can’t wait, particularly because they’re introducing some NEW options. Of course, the iconic Pumpkin Spice Latte will return on August 25th, but it’s being joined by some others, including the new Iced Pumpkin Cream Shaken Espresso, Pumpkin Spice Chai, and Iced Pumpkin Cream Matcha. Returning faves that will be available include the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew, Iced Pumpkin Cream Chai, and Pumpkin Spice Frappucino. Iced Pumpkin Cream Chai But pumpkin isn’t the only fall flavor in the lineup! Pecan-flavored beverages are back, like the Pecan Cortado, Iced Pecan Crunch Latte, and Pecan Crunch Latte. Also, to hop on recent trends, Starbucks is introducing Banana-flavored drinks for the fall. This means you can try out the new Iced Banana Bread Latte and Iced Banana Bread Chai with banana, cinnamon, and brown sugar flavors. Nice and warm! Iced Pecan Crunch Oatmilk Latte But the real kicker? Something we’re equally intrigued by and confused about…Chaider. Yes, it’s exactly what the name implies — chai mixed with apple cider. It has flavors of cinnamon and sweet spice, and we could see this either becoming THE must-have beverage this fall or the drink that turns into a strange meme. What do you think, will it work? Who wants to go to the Four Seasons Orlando? Meeeeee! The Four Seasons Resort Orlando is located on Disney World property inside the Golden Oak neighborhood, but it’s not owned by Disney. They have some great restaurants there that we love, including Capa and Ravello. Four Seasons Orlando Even though these restaurants aren’t owned by Disney, Disney just rolled out a major My Disney Experience app update that will make dining there ten times easier if a Four Seasons spot is on your bucket list! Select Four Seasons Resort Orlando restaurants are now listed on the My Disney Experience app and the Disney World website. You can book dining reservations, check the hours, and more all in your Disney app! Currently, only two of the seven Four Seasons Resort Orlando restaurants are on the app, but we’re hopeful this update means Disney will add most, if not all, of them at a later date. ©Disney Capa is a Spanish-influenced steakhouse that offers fresh Florida seafood, high-quality beef, and small plates to try an array of items. The rooftop terrace on the 17th floor is the star of the restaurant, where we could see both EPCOT and Hollywood Studios from our table, and if we had eaten a later dinner, we could’ve seen fireworks from the parks! Now you can book one of the best fireworks views at Disney World on the My Disney Experience app and the Disney World website. So pretty! Plus, you can book a reservation for Ravello, a modern take on fine Italian cuisine. On a separate page, you can book their character breakfast, Good Morning Breakfast with Goofy and His Pals. Goofy, Mickey, Minnie, and Pluto occasionally join the fun at this prix fixe breakfast on Saturday mornings. What’s the most popular ride in EPCOT? Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, of course! Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind This ride has always been one of our favorites, and we all remember the time that we finally got all six songs. Disney filed a new permit for the attraction, and we’re hoping that doesn’t mean downtimes are coming. The permit is for “general construction” and lists Coastal Steel as the contractor, so it’s likely this is for general maintenance rather than a massive change. While it could mean a small closure, they might be able to work on it at night, depending on the project, and keep the ride moving and grooving. Cosmic Rewind queue There haven’t been any closures announced by Disney, so we wouldn’t worry too much right now, but we’ll be keeping an eye on it to see what happens. It’s also possible it’s in more backstage areas, and we won’t even notice a change. Cosmic Rewind EPCOT is days away from the first day of the Food & Wine Festival, which starts on August 27th and runs till November 21st. This festival is packed with food booths featuring delicious snacks to try, free concerts by well-known artists, scavenger hunts, and more! 2025 EPCOT Food & Wine Festival Personally, I’m excited for the new Cheers to Cheese! exhibit, which will explore the history of cheese with fun facts. You’ll be able to see it at CommuniCore Hall (aka you can see it with indoor air conditioning!), and we always love it when Disney adds new experiences to the lineup. CommuniCore Hall for the Flower and Garden Festival Of course, we’re pretty dang excited for the food, too. D23 Day is TODAY, and it’s brought so many exciting new offerings to Disneyland, Disney California Adventure, and Downtown Disney. Here’s why you need to RUN to Disney for this one-day-only celebration! When we scanned into Disneyland this morning, we were greeted by Disney Cast Members who were giving out this snazzy D23 guidebook with all of the fun activities just for today. We have our map at the ready! And we also got a completely free pair of Mouse Ears, made just for D23 Day! These little guys are a black Mickey Ear hat with teal ears and trim, plus an embroidered D23 Day at Disneyland Resort patch featuring Sleeping Beauty Castle under a bright sun with dozens of fireworks. So cute, and 100% free! The D23 Day sign is up again, and this makes for a colorful backdrop to commemorate your D23 Day! SUCH a cute spot for photos! We also got to see the brand-new Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey Mouse balloon coming to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade! This is the first new balloon announced for the 2026 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade this November, and there’s likely more to come with an announcement at D23 this weekend! Check it out! Disney is also giving out these super cute Disney x Macy’s 100th Parade buttons featuring the Sorcerer Mickey balloon to celebrate the big reveal! Super cute, and again, 100% free if you go to Disneyland for D23 Day! SO cool! Disney Springs is a not-so-secret, secret place to find some of the best restaurants on the property. When thinking of Disney food, you might be thinking of the theme parks like EPCOT or Magic Kingdom, or even the hotels, but when we need a bunch of options with easy parking and no park ticket, we’re probably heading to Disney Springs. Paddlefish This time, we’re going straight to Paddlefish for lunch, and you’re coming along with us! Is this a restaurant you want to add to your Disney World itinerary? Let’s find out! Atmosphere Paddlefish is a more upscale restaurant located in an iconic steamboat anchored on Lake Buena Vista. Paddlefish It’s in The Landing section of Disney Springs and offers American seafood. Come on in! While walk-up availability might be open, you can book dining reservations through the Disney World website. Seating They’re open for lunch from 11:30 AM to 3:55 PM and dinner from 4 PM to 11 PM. We love the beautiful windows and the balcony with stunning views of Disney Springs. Beautiful views Menu For lunch, they have starters and spreads that include some seafood classics like Crab Cakes and Calamari. ©Disney They also offer soup and salad, which are a perfect way to start off your meal. ©Disney Of course, there are incredible seafood options that are steamed, chilled, and raw. ©Disney You can grab pastas and main courses that do include options beyond seafood. ©Disney Check out all the sandwich options! ©Disney We usually grab some sides and desserts while we’re there too. ©Disney There’s also an extensive kids menu with appetizers, entrees, and desserts. ©Disney They have a variety of drinks, from wine and beer to cocktails, mocktails, and more, so everyone in the family can find something they love. ©Disney Enough about the menu, let’s eat! Eats We started with the Crispy Shrimp for $18, which is cornmeal-breaded shrimp with crispy pepperoncini and sweet chili aioli. Crispy Shrimp Everything was so crunchy on this dish, especially the shrimp, which live up to the name! The pepperoncini really came through with some additional vegetables, and the dipping sauce is very sweet, vs spicy. We thought it was a decent portion for two people, so it’s easy to share, and there’s some lemon to add right on top. The sweet sauce was a fun addition! Then we grabbed the Crab Cake for $20, which features maque choux, fried green tomato, and remoulade. Crab Cake The outside of the crab cakes was crunchy, and the inside was very creamy, along with the maque choux, which was creamy and sweet. The fried green tomatoes were a bit tough and hard to cut through, but had a great flavor. While only one crab cake is served, it’s big enough to split between two people, especially if you have another appetizer. Inside We also enjoyed the Stuffed Cod for $39, which has shrimp and scallop corn bread stuffing, asparagus, red potato, and mustard cream sauce. Stuffed Cod The star of this dish was really the stuffing! It was pretty sweet and matched the fish well. The asparagus was cooked well and was soft and easy to chew. The potatoes were a little hard to cut and not quite as soft as we would like, and the mustard cream sauce was a little bitter with a dry, spicy flavor. Perfectly cooked Finally, we ended our meal with the Chocolate Layer Cake for $12. Chocolate Layer Cake The cake is served cold, so it’s not as smooth to cut through, but it was very dense with a very chocolatey flavor. For the price, we thought it was pretty big and great for chocolate lovers and those looking to share a dessert. Who doesn’t like to end their meal with some chocolate, too? Drinks. To drink, we had the Penny Layne for $12, which is one of their dirty soda options. Penny Layne The strongest flavor in each sip was the grenadine, and it was very vanilla-forward. We wish the Coca-Cola flavor came through a little more, but we would order it again for a refreshing drink on a hot, Florida day. Stirred Nosh or Not You should head to Paddlefish if… You’re looking for a more upscale dining experience — This is a great space to celebrate an anniversary and have a more intimate dining experience in a chaotic theme park. You’re obsessed with seafood — You might enjoy some of their special dishes like the Crab Cakes, especially if you enjoy trying your favorites at different restaurants. There’s also raw and chilled seafood, which can be hard to find at other places. You want a relaxing dinner where you can rest — This is a slower meal which is so nice when the theme parks feel rushed. You can have a great evening in before heading to your hotel with a slice of chocolate cake. You’re probably okay to skip if… You’re not a massive seafood fan — While there are options outside of seafood, the restaurant is known for its seafood dishes, and you might not enjoy the more limited options for meat eaters. You’re looking for a more inexpensive dinner — Paddlefish is certainly not cheap, with entrees being around $40 and $20 appetizers. It can be nice for a special occasion but a lot for a casual dinner. You aren’t heading to Disney Springs — If you’re at Disney Springs, this can be a great option, but we wouldn’t go out of our way to eat here since it can be quite a bit of travel if you aren’t already visiting. Our spread Overall We had a great time at Paddlefish! There were great seafood options along with some other dishes for those who prefer meat, and the whole restaurant is gorgeous with stunning views of Disney Springs. While the food might not be the most unique dishes in all of Disney World, they were solid options when you want to sit down and have a relaxing dinner. It gets HOT in Disney World, which obviously can make people cranky and tired, and that’s exactly what happened to her son. But the second she got him a DOLE Whip, he was suddenly fine! Disney has always been known as a company to push the boundaries of what technology can do, especially when it comes to building rides. We’ve seen some of this thinking in some of Disney’s newest high-tech thrill rides like Rise of the Resistance and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. Rise of the Resistance However, Disney is also creating technology that could work on dark rides, too. The company recently filed a new patent that would basically create the illusion of a ride vehicle rising and falling when it’s just on a flat track. Disney just filed a new patent with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office that shows technology that would create the illusion of a ride vehicle rising or falling, all while being on a flat track. Now, creating illusions is something Disney is already pretty good at (think of all the forced perspective it uses on buildings to make them appear taller). So this patent is something of a no-brainer, but it is interesting in how it works. Disney uses forced perspective all the time to make buildings appear taller So the illusion works like this. The ride vehicle just stays on its flat track, but elements in the ride’s set design are used to create the illusion. The basics are pretty simple: the idea is to use walls and set elements that are angled, so it SEEMS like a ride is rising or falling. So that means the things you see around you would be set at an angle to make it appear like the ride vehicle is going up or down. So walls would be painted at those angles, while static elements around you would be built at slight angles. ©U.S. Patent and Trademark Office At this point, the patent is showing what would be considered a practical effect. However, it does go on to mention video projection and set elements that can change as the ride vehicle passes to create a stronger illusion of rising or falling. ©U.S. Patent and Trademark Office This patent is really interesting considering Disney has a LOT of rides in the works now that this concept could apply to. The Encanto ride in Disney’s Animal Kingdom immediately comes to mind, as well as the new Coco ride coming to Disney California Adventure. This could also be applied to any dark ride that Disney may be working on for the new Villains land in Magic Kingdom. It’s almost time for a MAJOR Disney event! D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event kicks off on Friday, August 14th and runs through Sunday, August 16th, and there’s going to be SO much fun for Disney fans. This multi-day offering features a variety of panels and showcases to discuss upcoming and ongoing Disney projects and share news about the future of the company. But if you’re stopping by, make sure to visit the Imagineering Pavilion! During D23, the Imagineering Pavilion will be a space on the showroom floor dedicated to all things Walt Disney Imagineering. Here, you’ll be able to get a peek at some of the offerings coming soon to the theme parks, and possibly other Disney Experiences. It’s a dream come true for a Disney Adult, but this year, they’re leveling it up with a special appearance! Model of Madrigal’s Casita at the Imagineering Showcase in 2024 Disney has shared that this year, the Society of Explorers and Adventurers (S.E.A.) will be making an appearance at the Imagineering Pavilion! This fictional society is a longstanding bit of Disney history, tying into the backstories of several Disney attractions, restaurants, and experiences around the world. Its members include such Disney characters as Dr. Albert Falls (Jungle Cruise), Lord Henry Mystic (Mystic Manor), and Captain Mary Oceaneer (Oceaneer Labs on Disney Cruise Line and Miss Adventure Falls at Typhoon Lagoon). ©Disney Disney says, “This summer, S.E.A. is collaborating with Walt Disney Imagineering to show the world more about the organization. In particular, S.E.A. wants to share more about the adventurers who demonstrate an insatiable curiosity for the world’s mysteries who make up their organization. While there’s no shortage of secrets across history and even in your everyday life, they might (emphasis on might!) discuss some enigmas which even eluded the Society.” Portrait of Albert Falls in Skipper Canteen The big highlight is that S.E.A. has a new, recently-discovered artifact that they plan to showcase at the Imagineering Pavilion! The backstory says that for the past three months, an unnamed S.E.A. archivist has been cataloguing artifacts in the society’s collection. “They’ve re-discovered incredible pieces of S.E.A. history, such as intricate Greek amphoras from Lord Henry Mystic or “acquired” sarcophagi courtesy of Harrison Hightower III. One crate unearthed from the archives, unopened for at least a century, is making its way to D23. But, the surprise is…neither Imagineering or S.E.A. has any clue what’s inside!” ©Disney Now, here’s the thing we know about Disney. If this is a portion of the Imagineering Pavilion, they’re likely not just showcasing this mysterious artifact “for funsies.” We’re willing to bet that this new artifact will tie into the backstory of one of the ongoing projects — perhaps an upcoming ride, restaurant, or land. We’ll have to wait and see! Saturday, August 15th ©Disney Okay, we’re up and ready to go again on Saturday, so let’s do this! There are lots of panels to watch and plenty of souvenirs to buy. If you’ve ever ordered your favorite Starbucks drink in Disney World only to look at your receipt and go, “It’s only that much?!” You’re not alone! I’m a former Disney World Starbucks barista, and a customer would say that every hour, without fail. Starbucks It’s a not-so-hidden secret that Starbucks drinks are cheaper inside Disney World than at your local Starbucks. But why does it cost less? While Disney World has Starbucks locations in all four parks, they’re not owned or operated by Starbucks like your neighborhood Starbucks. This means that when Starbucks locations raise their prices, Disney can decide whether to raise prices in the parks to reflect the increase, but they often don’t. The same Starbucks drink is typically $1 to $2 cheaper inside the Disney Parks than at the Starbucks right outside Disney property! Matcha at The Trolley Car Café Additionally, Starbucks charges drink customizations differently than your neighborhood Starbucks. At your local Starbucks, you’ll get charged for every single thing you add to your drink, and if you want syrup, you’ll have to pay for each individual pump. The Starbucks inside the Disney Parks charge these differently: every customization is a flat rate, so you can have 20 pumps of vanilla syrup for only 80¢ if that’s how you like your coffee! This applies to every customization except premium toppings like sauces, boba, or cold foam, which are charged per scoop. White Chocolate Macadamia Cold Brew And if you’re on the Disney Dining Plan, you can get Starbucks drinks for completely free. One drink counts as one snack credit, and you can get your drink in the largest size possible on the Dining Plan. I would have regulars who got a trenta (AKA a liter!) of Strawberry Acai Refresher every day of their trip to maximize their snack credits! Pink Drink It’s important to note that this only applies to Starbucks locations physically inside of a Disney theme park. These savings aren’t found at the Disney Springs Starbucks, the Downtown Disney Starbucks, or the Disneyland Paris Starbucks, since they’re only in Disney’s shopping centers. The Hello Kitty and Friends x Godzilla Happy Meal is combining the adorable Sanrio characters with the world’s most iconic monster, and we’re so here for it. ©McDonald’s The collection officially launches on August 18th at participating McDonald’s restaurants across the U.S. The toys will be available for a limited time and while supplies last. For some of us, there is nothing more nostalgic than sitting in front of the TV with family and watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. With the massive balloons and years and years of different floats and performers, we look forward to it every year. Check it ou! While there are usually some Disney balloons and Mickey Mouse usually makes some sort of appearance, this year, it’s going to be even more fun with a brand-new Disney-inspired giant character balloon! Say hello to Disney’s Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey that will make his debut this November! It’s inspired by Mickey Mouse’s iconic role in Fantasia. ©Disney This is the first new balloon announced for the 2026 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and will be for the 100th march of the parade. This is the next chapter in Disney’s almost century-long relationship with the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. We got to see the balloon in person, and it’s perfect. SO cool This massive reveal happened during D23 Day at Disneyland Resort, where guests could see the newest addition and this fun collaboration between Macy’s and Disney. Spidey In 2025, Disney and Pixar added a brand-new Buzz Lightyear balloon to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Toy Story. To see Buzz Lightyear truly fly was incredible! He has “Andy” written on his boot and is nearly as long as four Pizza Planet delivery trucks. Buzz Lightyear balloon The very first Disney character to appear in the parade was, for once, Mickey Mouse, who was over 40 feet tall. This was in 1934, and he was also joined by Pluto, the Three Little Pigs, and the Big Bad Wolf. ©Disney There have been so many characters throughout the years, and Minnie Mouse joined the balloon lineup in 2024 as the tallest balloon in the parade. She was around 60 feet long, and it must be from the iconic bow. Minnie in the parade To celebrate the new Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey balloon, Macy’s is also launching an exclusive Disney capsule collection featuring collectible keepsakes inspired by the balloon. It may only be August, but my sights are already set on the holiday season and all of the special moments that come with it – especially shopping. And what better way to get everyone into the same spirit than with the release of this year’s Disney and Macy’s collection? New York City has been the iconic backdrop of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade since the first one in 1924, and this collection again takes inspiration from the Big Apple when it comes to the design elements. But instead of focusing on city symbols, the artwork is a large-scale love letter to Disney’s history with Macy’s, and leverages character balloons from Parades past, including the brand-new Disney balloon announced today. The 2026 Parade is extra special, not only with the debut of a new Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey balloon, but because it is the 100th march. This collection beautifully captures the evolution of Disney characters through the eras, with every design packed full of nostalgic nods and commemorative charm that brings a century of Macy’s memories to life. August 13, 2026: Kicking off the Disney and Macy’s Collection with Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey Before he takes to the skies with a new look on Thanksgiving Day, the new Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey balloon is making his magical merchandise debut, and I couldn’t be more excited to see this character appear across items like collectibles and cozy pajamas. My personal favorite piece is the Disney and Macy’s Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey Sweatshirt, which showcases a heartwarming history of Mickey Mouse through the decades. From his debut in 1934 to his newest adventure as Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey in the 2026 parade, this artwork is an astonishing snapshot of his soaring story. The gray base color gives the sweatshirt an almost retro feel, with bright pops of red, blue, and yellow throughout the design. And you can even get a matching ear headband to complete the look, showing a sweet side-by-side comparison of Mickey Mouse’s presence in the parade over the years! For many Americans, The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has long marked the official start of the holiday season, giving those across the country their cue to start decking the halls, listening to holiday tunes, and shopping for the perfect presents. And this year in 2026, the storied spectacle that has been seen by generations is celebrating 100 years of bringing jolly cheer and jubilant entertainment to millions of viewers, both on screen and in the streets of Manhattan. Since the first parade in 1924, then called The Macy’s Christmas Parade, Disney has joined in on the festivities with floats, character appearances, and of course, larger-than-life balloons that soar across the New York City skyline. Mickey Mouse and plenty of other characters have become a cherished component of this tradition, and I’m so excited to see what’s in store this November. August 13, 2026: Disney Unveils New Sorcerer Mickey Mouse Balloon Debuting in this Year’s Parade, plus a New Macy’s Merchandise Collection Guests attending D23 Day at Disneyland Resort were surprised by a spellbinding sight when entering the Downtown Disney District today, with the spectacular reveal of Disney’s newest balloon joining the 100th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade lineup this year. The Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey Balloon will make its debut in November’s Parade, marking the 100th march down the iconic NYC route, which begins on the picturesque Upper West Side. Disney’s history with the parade dates back to 1934, when Mickey Mouse first took flight in balloon form. And just for today, the newest balloon was inflated for the first time right here in the Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort, spreading festive cheer and kicking off the countdown to the holiday season. Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey Takes to the Skies Mickey Mouse has existed in so many unforgettable forms, and we spoke to Disney Consumer Products Sr. Manager, Brand Commercialization Joseph Titizian about why this Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey version seemed like the best way to commemorate 100 years of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, of which Disney has participated in 90. “When we had to select a character to appear in the 100th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, there was only one choice: the most iconic character in the world, Mickey Mouse.” revealed Joseph. “And Mickey Mouse’s most iconic role is that of the Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey, so we wanted to bring his joy, optimism, imagination, and wonder to make this 100th parade even more magical.” It feels especially fitting, as D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event presented by Visa is just one day away, and Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey seems to serve as the symbol of this beloved biennial affair. Even for those who may not have seen Disney’s Fantasia, which is where the character first appears, Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey is no stranger to Disney Parks. He appears as the star of the epic nighttime spectacular, Fantasmic! and can be found greeting guests at Red Carpet Dreams in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. I’ve watched the Parade on TV every year with my family for as long as I can remember, and even attended once in person during my time living in NYC, but getting the chance to see this magnificent balloon up close felt like crossing a once-in-a-lifetime item off my bucket list. Fans oohed and aahed over the towering, vibrant Mickey Mouse, which is beautifully detailed and actually hand-painted, so it truly feels like a piece of art. “The balloon process is a really unique and special one, and it’s very specific to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.” shared Parade Executive Producer Will Coss. “There’s a lot of art, there’s a lot of science, and ultimately, it creates that magical moment on Parade morning, but there’s months and months of prework that gets us a successful balloon at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.” New Disney and Macy’s Merchandise Collection The balloon brought that bustling buzz and electric energy of New York City to Anaheim, where I witnessed excitement and awe from every person who caught sight of Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey floating amongst the Southern California clouds. Throughout the day, those strolling by can stop for themed photo ops, magical giveaways, and the opportunity to see select merchandise from the new Disney and Macy’s collaboration, also launching today. Since Wreck-It Ralph dropped in 2012, we feel like everyone’s been wondering what an attraction based on the animated movie would be like. Well, now we have an idea! ©Disney Parks Back in 2024, Tokyo Disney Resort announced that Wreck-It Ralph would be taking over their version of Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters. Since then, we haven’t heard much about the new ride. Well, now we finally have details on the new Wreck-It Ralph attraction coming to Tokyo Disney, and we’re sharing it all with you. The new Wreck-It Ralph attraction taking over Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters is going to be called Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue. The ride is set to debut in the spring of 2027. Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue will transport guests into the iconic, vibrant game world as they join Ralph, Vanellope, and others to help defeat King Candy. ©Disney Disney says that the new attraction is going to introduce “new technology to Tokyo Disney Resort for an interactive storytelling experience that is the first of its kind for a Disney theme park.” It will have a similar interactive gaming experience to Buzz Lightyear and will be fun for guests of all ages! ©Disney In the attraction, guests will enter the candy-themed racing game from the movie “Sugar Rush” and team up with the beloved duo to save the game from being destroyed by Sugar Bugs, which are glitches created by King Candy. In this colorful world, you will need to restore the Sugar Bugs back to their original “kawaii” forms of gummy candies, cupcakes, cookies, and other confectionery treats. ©Disney Once you get off the attraction, you can check out the all-new merchandise stop. The Pixel Prism shop will be located right next to Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue and will offer a variety of merch, including ride-specific items. There will also be a popcorn stand near the Wreck-It Ralph ride, facing Tomorrowland Plaza. ©Disney This new attraction is a piece of a bigger plan, as Tokyo Disneyland is going to undergo a major transformation for Tomorrowland. There are some classic Disney rides that we hope stay classics forever. Rides like the Mad Tea Party, Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, and even Space Mountain are rides many of us grew up with and would be sad to hear go away. ©Disney Luckily, in Tokyo Disneyland, one of these classics is getting a revamp but still keeping true to its original concept. In Tomorrowland, Space Mountain is being transformed to Space Mountain Earthrise and will “retain the previous version’s concept as an indoor coaster but will be completely transformed.” This has been a beloved attraction since Tokyo Disneyland first opened, and it will return with various enhancements, a new story, and rich and dynamic show elements to take guests on an even more thrilling and captivating journey through outer space. This was previously announced in 2022, with the original ride closing in 2024, but now we have new details! ©Disney The attraction is scheduled to open in 2027 and will begin with a powerful launch from Earth, hurling guests aboard their ride vehicles deep into space. From there, guests can enjoy a dynamic and immersive experience through the cosmos unlike ever before with special light and sound effects inspired by various space phenomena. ©Disney In a first for roller coasters at Tokyo Disney Resort, the ride vehicles will come equipped with an onboard audio system! The attraction’s exterior will also incorporate curved features designed after the movement of celestial bodies and forms found in nature, such as trees and flowers — an expression of the connection between space and nature. ©Disney The “Earthrise” in Space Mountain Earthrise refers to the sight of Earth from space as it rises from beyond the moon’s surface, just as the sun rises from the horizon. The name is meant to capture the beauty and preciousness of Earth as an unparalleled existence within the universe and is a concept unique to Japan among Space Mountain attractions at Disney theme parks worldwide. Since its opening nearly 45 years ago, EPCOT has been a beloved park for generations of Disney World fans. Whether it’s the park’s attractions, dining, or even drinking around the world, many guests have had the best times of their trip at the park. However, that’s not everyone. EPCOT Recently, we asked our readers on Facebook to tell us their “biggest park-day disaster” at EPCOT over the years, and two major stories stuck out to us. The first came from reader Claire Marie, who wrote about a less-than-ideal ride on Mission: Space. They wrote, “Going on Mission Space Orange. Rode it, couldn’t walk or see straight, somehow made it back to the resort, threw up, slept for 4 hours and then was fine.” Yeah, that doesn’t sound fun. Of course, stories like this have been common about Mission: Space since the simulator ride opened back in 2003. The attraction, which replaced the beloved-to-this-day Horizons, is often listed near the bottom of many fans’ rankings of all of Disney World’s attractions. Mission: Space Speaking of rides and attractions, reader Paul shared a story that may as well be subtitled “a Disney fan’s worst nightmare.” They shared, “Our party was the next in line to board Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, shortly after it opened. We were so excited to see this new attraction. Yep, it broke down, and they closed the ride. It was near the end of the day, and it didn’t reopen before the park closed. It was our only day in EPCOT. Some day we hope to get back to see this attraction. But now, all we can do is have some eggplant parmigiana and dream of the adventure!” Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure Imagine waiting through a long queue for a (comparatively) new, in-demand attraction, making it all the way to boarding, only for the ride to shut down for the day? We know going in that there’s always a chance that could happen with any attraction, but it’s still brutal. Sounds like Paul has the right attitude, though! Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure Beyond these two ride tales, however, we received plenty of other responses detailing issues with weather, meals, health issues, and even reader Donnie’s somewhat amazingly nonchalant phrasing of “I took firework debris to the eye; it didn’t ruin anything, but it was crazy.” Luminous in EPCOT Crazy indeed.
