This gorgeous collection is a true tribute to the man who started it all, and it will include several shirts, a hat, Mickey Ears, socks, and a jacket, all inspired by Walt and this iconic space. ©Disney Our favorite piece in this collection has to be the gorgeous bags designed to look like briefcases Walt himself may have used. They even have his initials, W.E.D inscribed and have a bag tag that says “Walt’s Office.” These bags are truly phenomenal, and if you love Disney history, these might be a must-have for you. ©Disney Next is the Disney Epic Rivals Collection This fun collection includes some of your favorite rivals from classic Disney movies created in collaboration with some of your favorite brands, including Spirit Jersey, RSVLTS, and LUG. It features the castle on a water bottle, a plush, and a hat. ©Disney There are also two gorgeous Spirit Jerseys, one black and one cream-colored, both featuring the iconic castle! ©Disney The next collection is the Honda Center Exclusive Merchandise This exclusive collection will be debuting at the Honda Center. 4. Full Resort & Room Tour: Disney's Coronado Springs Resort | Walt Disney WorldView the full article
  5. After 30 years of staying at Disney World hotels, there are three I just keep coming back to, and you might want to book this one for your next vacation. Disney’s Wilderness Lodge I believe that some Disney World resorts are just made for you. Maybe you enjoy the immersive theming of Art of Animation, or you really love having access to the monorail from your resort. I’ve stayed at most of the Disney World resorts in my life, but now there are just three that my family can’t stop booking. 3. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has incredible theming that can make you forget you’re in the heart of Florida, not on an island. From the lobby to the detail in the rooms, staying here can feel like a vacation, while on vacation. We also love that it is on the resort monorail loop, giving you quick access to Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. But by far one of the best reasons to stay here is the food. Whether you’re grabbing the Tonga Toast from Kona Cafe for breakfast, the Pork Nachos from Capt. Cook’s, or a drink from Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto, you’ll be in for a treat. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort 2. Disney’s Beach Club Resort Disney’s Beach Club Resort is famously known for having one of the best pools for a Disney resort. It is conveniently located near the Boardwalk, giving you walkable access to tons of restaurants, EPCOT, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. If you’re someone who wants to spend time at their resort while also being able to get to the parks quickly, this is a great resort. Beach Club 1. Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort — Copper Creek Villas Finally, my number one choice for a Disney hotel is Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort, specifically Copper Creek Villas. If there’s one Disney World hotel that completely transports me somewhere else, it’s Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. From the moment I walk into the soaring lobby, I’m reminded why I keep coming back. Inspired by the grand National Park lodges of the Pacific Northwest, every detail feels intentional, from the massive stone fireplace to the towering timber beams and rustic décor. Wilderness Lodge lobby As someone who travels with my family, I really appreciate how comfortable the rooms at Wilderness Lodge feel. The Copper Creek Villas have plenty of space to spread out, which makes a huge difference after spending an entire day in the parks. There’s enough room for everyone to unpack without feeling like we’re constantly stepping over each other, and the warm wood accents and cozy design make the rooms feel more like a mountain retreat than a standard hotel room. It’s a place where I genuinely look forward to coming back each afternoon or evening. We typically stay in a Copper Creek Deluxe Studio, which is about $623 per night. Of course, there are a wide variety of rooms available at the resort, and some are cheaper. Wilderness Lodge in Disney World One of the biggest reasons I love staying at Wilderness Lodge is that I never feel like I have to leave the resort to find a great meal. There are plenty of dining options, whether I’m grabbing something quick before heading to the parks or sitting down for a relaxing dinner. Whispering Canyon Cafe But the real standout for me is Geyser Point Bar & Grill. Sitting outside along the water with a meal or drink while watching the boats travel to and from Magic Kingdom is one of my favorite ways to unwind after a long park day. The resort also has several other lounge spaces that make it easy to relax without fighting the crowds you often find at other Disney hotels. Geyser Point Bar & Grill Transportation can make or break a Disney vacation, and the boat service to Magic Kingdom is one of my favorite perks of staying here. Instead of squeezing onto a crowded bus, I get to enjoy a relaxing ride across Bay Lake while taking in the scenery. It’s one of those little extras that makes Wilderness Lodge feel so special compared to many other Disney resorts. Wilderness Lodge boat My family loves to stay here during the holiday season. There’s something about the giant Christmas tree and decorations paired with the rustic features that make this resort feel so cozy. It also makes for a quick trip to Magic Kingdom if you are visiting Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Christmas Tree at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge This resort is perfect for travelers who want their Disney vacation to feel a little slower and more relaxing without sacrificing convenience. If you love immersive theming, enjoy spending time at your hotel, appreciate great dining and lounges, or like taking peaceful boat rides to Magic Kingdom, Wilderness Lodge is hard to beat. It’s also an excellent choice for families who want spacious accommodations and plenty of activities on resort days. On the other hand, it may not be the best fit if your priority is having quick transportation to all four theme parks, since you’ll rely on buses for EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Guests looking for a more modern or bright atmosphere may also find the rustic, National Park-inspired design less appealing. 6. We’re more than halfway through 2026, which means A LOT of people are already starting to plan their vacations for next year. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa And with planning a trip, some of the biggest questions include WHERE you’re going to go and WHEN you’re going to go. Disney World is a popular vacation spot for many families around the world, and it can get pretty pricey, especially when it comes to hotels. But I’m here to break down the best times to go and stay at a Disney World hotel, so you can beat the crowds and save some money! January 24th – 30th You’d think that once the holiday season ends, the crowds at Disney World would die down, but that’s not the case until late January. The Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, which happens next year from January 6th to January 10th, draws in a whole different crowd. And the following week brings in the long-weekend crowds from Martin Luther King Day, landing on January 18th, 2027. ©Disney But after those crowds leave, you’ll be in the clear for a less crowded week filled with cooler temperatures, so this makes January 24th through 30th one of the best times to visit the resort! The Disney Skyliner will also be closed for its annual maintenance during this week, so if you want even fewer crowds, consider staying at Pop Century Resort, Art of Animation Resort, Riviera Resort, or Caribbean Beach Resort! Disney World’s Skyliner Let’s take a look at Pop Century Resort’s rates — from January 24th to 30th, one Standard Room costs $209.50 per night. But if you were to take a vacation during the holiday season — December 20th to 26th, for example — a Standard Room would set you back $349 per night. So, by traveling just a month later, you can save nearly $1,000! Pop Century Here’s the Bad News About The Disney World Skyliner April 11th – 17th Next year, Easter falls early on March 28th, so you won’t see those holiday crowds in mid-April. Most college spring breaks also occur in March, so April 11th through 17th might be the perfect time to take your Disney World vacation. It still won’t be in the peak-summer temperatures, but definitely bring a cooling towel and a fan because it’ll still be hot! School vacations up north tend to happen the week after, so if you’re going to book around this time, don’t book for too late in April! Tree of Life in Animal Kingdom If you’re going to be spending a lot of time at your hotel during your vacation, you’ll want one that has a lot to offer and won’t break the bank at the same time. Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter is a great option since it has several dining options — including those beloved beignets — a sister resort that you’ll also have access to, and easy transportation to Disney Springs via boat! Staying here during this week can also save you over $50 per night compared to if you were to stay during the week of Easter! Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter I Found the Perfect Room at Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter Hotel — Here’s How to Get It August 19th – 25th You may be thinking to yourself, “This girl is WILD to recommend taking a Disney World vacation in August,” and to that I say — you’re wrong! If you don’t mind the heat, booking a vacation to Disney World mid-to-end August might be the move for you! Florida schools generally resume in mid-August, so you won’t have to deal with the locals, and this is typically a period when EPCOT doesn’t have an ongoing festival — the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival tends to begin in the last week of August. Food and Wine Festival Booth It’s also one of the cheapest times to visit, with hotel rooms starting at just $84 per night — and that’s before any discounts or promotions — which there are some going on 90% of the time! So, if you don’t mind the heat, can go without eating festival foods, and want to save some money, we recommend booking between August 19th and 25th! All-Star Music 3 NEW Restaurants, Attraction Overhauls, and Food and Wine Festival Updates — Every Major Disney Announcement You Missed September 19st – 25th Mid to late September tends to be one of the slowest times of the year in Disney World — there is no major holiday, the runDisney races don’t start back up until late October, and everyone around the country is back in school. Plus, you’ll be able to see all of the fall and Halloween decorations up around the resort! Fall Decorations Maybe you want to explore the outdoors and stay at the Fort Wilderness Campsites? This is a great week to do it because you can stay for only $84 per night! The temperatures start to cool down around this time, too, so if you are looking for a less crowded, cooler vacation to Disney World, September 19th to 25th is the perfect time to take a trip! If you’re looking to travel to Disney World with fewer crowds and more money in your pocket, these four weeks are your best bet to visit! 11. A brand-new snack stand has opened at EPCOT, and it may change how guests approach eating around the World Showcase. Welcome to La Poutinerie Over in the Canada Pavilion, La Poutinerie has replaced the Refreshment Port, and it’s offering two new takes on classic poutine dishes. Located at the entrance of the Canada Pavilion, La Poutinerie utilizes a similar layout to the Refreshment Port, including a walk-up service window. The restaurant — which is sponsored by Air Canada — offers two different types of poutines along with some alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. La Poutinerie Let’s begin with the pair of poutine offerings. During our inaugural visit, we tried both. The Québec: L’Authentique is in line with traditional poutine: French fries, cheese curds, and brown gravy. We really enjoyed this, even more than the poutine previously sold by Refreshment Port. The shoestring fries were perfectly seasoned and had the right amount of crispiness; the cheese curds were squeaky, cheesy, and fresh tasting, while the gravy was surprisingly light, not too heavy or goopy. Québec L’Authentique The next offering, the Montréal: Viande Fuméev, changes things up slightly. This bowl offers French fries, cheese curds, smoked meat, pickles, and mustard gravy. While the flavors here worked well together – – especially when you got them all in one bite – – we still preferred the more traditional take on poutine overall. That said, we did enjoy how the tangy mustard gravy cut through the salty, smoky meat and cheese, while the pickles added a nice crunch. Montréal: Viande Fumée Non-alcoholic beverages available include the Spiced Apple Slushy, DASANI Bottled Water, smartwater, and traditional Coca-Cola Fountain Beverages. Alcoholic options for all those planning to drink around the world include the Spiced Apple Mule (frozen ginger beer blended with lively lime and cozy spiced apple flavors with Iceberg Canadian Vodka), Molson Canadian Lager, Jackson-Triggs Reserve Red Blend, Unibroue La Fin du Monde Belgian-style Tripel Ale, and Domaine Ste. Michelle Brut, Columbia Valley. Spiced Apple Mule Adding yet another dining option to Disney World can make things even harder for guests to decide. Fear not! Our Guide to Disney World Dining pulls it all together so you can stop stressing and focus on the fun without feeling like you’re missing a thing! So, now that we’ve laid out the basics of La Poutinerie, how might it be changing the approach to eating around the world? Well, if you’re a big poutine fan, you definitely need to try the Québec: L’Authentique offering ASAP. It might even be worth switching up your regular route and STARTING in Canada instead of Mexico. Yum! In addition to the desire for poutine, there’s another reason why those wanting to chow down on some poutine should head to Canada first. Much to the chagrin of many fans, the new eatery’s hours are 11 AM to 5 PM, meaning that poutine will need to be an afternoon snack as opposed to a late-night option. La Poutinerie La Poutinerie is now open at EPCOT, and the new eatery might be changing how guests work their way around World Showcase’s culinary offerings! Stay tuned to DFB for more on Disney’s latest offerings. 12. While we often talk about just how much is changing and going on inside the Disney World parks, with so many attractions being built and new lands under construction, there’s also a lot happening with the resort that’s happening outside the park gates. Disney’s Art of Animation Resort Disney has been at the center of a few property tax lawsuits recently after filing 15 lawsuits against Orange County in December 2025. Now, it’s been revealed that they’ve won yet another one of those lawsuits, this time for Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. The lawsuits filed last year alleged that the Orange County Property Appraiser, Amy Mercado, failed to comply with Florida law and adopted appraisal practices that resulted in assessments exceeding the market value of the properties. This would mean that Disney has been paying far more property tax than it should have been, and has been seeking to get the properties reappraised so the market value assessments are accurate. Timon, Pumba, and Simba at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort Now these kinds of lawsuits aren’t uncommon, and we’ve seen them filed many times in the past by Disney. For this lawsuit in particular, Disney was looking for the property tax for the years 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018 to be revised. The following screenshot is taken directly from the lawsuit itself, detailing the property taxes for each of those years. Tax numbers and breakdown from the lawsuit Most recently, Disney won another lawsuit regarding Animal Kingdom Lodge and Wilderness Lodge Resort’s 2015 just value, resulting in a flat 10% cut. Now that this lawsuit has been won as well, it remains to be seen if the other lawsuits Disney filed at the end of 2025 will also give way to revised property taxes. For now, the tax reduction won for Art of Animation adds up to nearly $34 million in reduced property value, which will likely lead to a tax refund, as Disney was required to pay their 2025 property taxes before the lawsuits were able to be filed. Disney’s Art of Animation We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all the latest news regarding these lawsuits, as we could also see Disney win them for all four theme parks, both water parks, as well as additional resorts. 13. It was a quieter week in Disney World in terms of openings and closings, though we did officially say goodbye to the current version of one of our favorite attractions. Carousel of Progress is now behind walls While yes, we did have to wave goodbye to Carousel of Progress until an undetermined time in 2027, we’re also thrilled to say that a few projects made great headway in Disney World. New permits were filed for both Monstropolis and Tropical Americas, and a popular Magic Kingdom store finally has its big top back! Carousel of Progress has closed to make way for a massive refurbishment that will take place throughout the rest of 2026 and part of 2027. While Disney hasn’t yet released a reopening date other than it being sometime in 2027, we know with such a major revamp happening to the attraction, it’ll take time. Walls are up! If you’re visiting Disney Springs, this is also your reminder that Ghirardelli has officially moved to its temporary location inside the former Sprinkles Cupcakes building while its main building undergoes a refurbishment, so don’t be alarmed if it’s not where you last saw it! Let’s take a look at all the current closures taking place in Disney World from July 11th through July 18th. Magic Kingdom Carousel of Progress Carousel of Progress closed on July 6th to undergo a major refurbishment. The work will include completely revamping the scenes in the attraction to make them more modern and represent more recent parts of history, as well as adding a new Walt Disney animatronic at the opening. ©Disney Currently, the attraction is set to reopen in 2027, though no official date has been set yet. Big Top Souvenirs Big Top Souvenirs closed on February 20th, and Disney has said it’ll “reopen for guests to enjoy later this year,” but there’s no date in sight. When we stopped by recently, we saw that the big top has FINALLY been added back to the shop, which is a relief! The tent is back! We’re really curious to see how this all turns out, so we’ll keep you updated! Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island An iconic part of the Magic Kingdom is now permanently closed. As of July 7th, 2025, the Rivers of America, including the Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island, are permanently closed to make way for the new Cars area, Piston Peak. There are lots of construction walls up in the area now, and the structures on Tom Sawyer Island have been demolished. Most recently, we saw some updates to the concrete on the land, as well as leveling taking place for the new attractions — how exciting! Piston Peak construction Piston Peak National Park will be replacing this area of the Magic Kingdom. Disney has not yet announced an opening date for the new Cars area, but we do know it will feature two brand-new attractions and be themed to look like a National Park. FINALLY! It Just Got Easier To Get Into These 2 Disney World Lounges! Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Parts of) Animation Courtyard Animation Courtyard closed on September 25th, 2025, to make way for Walt Disney Studios. The courtyard area, new Disney Jr. show, and meet and greet station for Sofia the First and SupeKitties officially opened on May 26th, but we’re still waiting for the other sections of the area to open. Star Wars Launch Bay will be turned into The Magic of Disney Animation. This attraction will have you interacting and exploring with this fun take on Disney Animation headquarters, complete with the return of the Sorcerer Mickey hat! The Magic of Disney Animation in Walt Disney Studios This area will also feature a new Drawn to Wonderland indoor play area that we can’t wait to see! Muppets Courtyard Muppet*Vision 3D and PizzeRizzo closed on June 8th, 2025, and Muppets Courtyard has been walled off for construction on the new Monsters, Inc. land. Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano has been closed since May 11th, 2025. Most recently, Disney released new information about Monstropolis, saying that “Monstropolis — the monster city now powered by laughter — is getting ready to give humans a glimpse of what’s been hidden from their world for generations. Which raises an interesting question: if humans were never meant to enter the monster world … why are the doors finally opening to us?” ©Disney We’ll get to explore their world during H.U.M.A.N. Day, or “Humans Understand Monsters Are Nice” Day, with Disney continuing to say, “Human guests will have the chance to explore the city, meet its citizens, taste unique cuisine, and step into the everyday world of monsters in a totally new way. For the first time, two worlds once separated are meeting face to scaly, furry, and fang-filled face – brought together not by screams, but by laughter.” ©Disney It’s also been fully confirmed that Harryhausen’s will be one of the restaurants in the new land, which we’re beyond excited to experience. Most recently, Disney filed a permit on July 8th for The Glob Theater location, the former home of Muppet*Vision 3D, for electrical work. If you’re missing The Muppets, you can go visit them at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets right now! REVIEW: We Are OBSESSED With These 4 NEW Hollywood Studios Snacks EPCOT La Signature La Signature, one of the stores located in the France Pavilion, closed for refurbishment on June 30th. La Signature closed The store specializes in French cosmetics and fragrances from Guerlain. During the closure, if you’re looking to buy Guerlain products, they’ll be temporarily available at the nearby Plume Et Palette. We Went to 7 Disney World Parks and Hotels in a Day — Here Are 13 New Things We Noticed Disney’s Animal Kingdom DinoLand, USA On February 2nd, DinoLand, USA, officially closed to make way for the new Tropical Americas land, Pueblo Esperanza. Most recently, we noticed that walls are beginning to be built up inside the new land, and there are several large pieces of construction equipment on the land. Lots of progress! We can also see lots of work happening at the front of the new Indiana Jones ride! Recently, Disney revised the permit they filed last August for this ride, and the new Notice of Commencement permit renews the installation through April 2027. via @bioreconstruct This new land is shaping up nicely! It will have three new rides – a carousel featuring classic Disney animals, an Indiana Jones ride where you’ll explore a Mayan temple, and an Encanto ride that invites you into the Madrigals’ home. We can’t wait to continue to see how it all shapes up. CHANGES Hit a NEW Disney’s Animal Kingdom Attraction Disney World Hotels Boat Dock — Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Starting on May 11th, the Boat Dock at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort became unavailable for guests to use due to refurbishment. The dock is closed! Boat transportation was unavailable through June 5th, but has now reopened. Construction on the dock as a whole was set to continue through late June, but has now continued into July. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa This hotel has been undergoing refurbishments for quite some time now, but some sections of the hotel — specifically the porte cochere — will continue to undergo refurbishment through at least early 2027. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort We certainly hope it’ll actually reopen on this timeline — we’re a little tired of seeing construction all over this beautiful hotel! Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort Currently, work is taking place all over Bay Lake Tower through Late 2027. Additionally, exterior elevator landing repairs will be taking place through late May 2026. Bay Lake Tower While currently no major closures are taking place due to this construction, it’s important to note that you may see or hear construction during your stay. Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort For those looking to dine at this hotel, you need to know that the Turf Club Bar & Grill and Turf Club Lounge will both be under refurbishment from mid-March through mid-September 2026. Turf Club Bar & Grill In early April, the Turf Club Lounge will close for refurbishment and will reopen in early August. In the meantime, the Turf Club Bar & Grill will remain open with a pop-up bar serving a modified Lounge food and beverage menu. Then, from early to mid-August, the Turf Club patio will close for refurbishment, and finally, from mid-August through mid-September, the Turf Club Bar & Grill will be closed for refurbishment, but the Turf Club Lounge will be open. Leisure Pools — Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and Disney’s Beach Club Resort Disney’s Yacht Club and Disney’s Beach Club Resort are currently undergoing visible exterior maintenance. The maintenance could affect views and may require alternate routes at times. In addition, two of the resort’s leisure pools will close for routine maintenance. Tidal Pool At Disney’s Yacht Club, the Admiral leisure pool will be closed for maintenance through early May 2026. At Disney’s Beach Club, the Tidal leisure pool will be closed for maintenance through early May 2026. Guests may see or hear construction work, but it will only be done during the daytime hours. Yachtsman Steakhouse — Disney’s Yacht Club Resort On May 11th, Yachtsman Steakhouse officially closed for refurbishment. Yachtsman Steakhouse Recently, it was revealed that reservations for this restaurant are now available beginning on August 28th! Promenade Fine Art Gallery — Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and Resort The Promenade Fine Art Gallery closed its Disney’s BoardWalk location on October 20th, 2025. However, the Promenade Fine Art Gallery isn’t closing for good, and it will just be moving to a new location. Promenade Fine Art Gallery Disney just filed permits for the BoardWalk titled “Project Amazon” and “Project Bubbles” earlier this year, and now that we have a bit more information on them, we’re thinking that this currently vacant spot could soon become the home of the new Basin on the BoardWalk store on its way! The shop will be rooted in the resort’s classic boardwalk heritage and will offer a sensory shopping experience that is described as “both timeless and distinctly new.” Jellyrolls — Disney’s BoardWalk Jellyrolls at Disney’s BoardWalk officially closed on April 19th, 2025. This entertainment venue has provided our team with countless memories, and we know many others are also sad to see it close. Jellyrolls had its final farewell performance on April 19th. 2025 and closed its doors forever on Disney’s BoardWalk. It was just recently revealed, though, that a new lounge will be coming to the BoardWalk! ©Disney The new lounge will be called Hurly-Burly and will be a “fun-filled afternoons and glamorous evenings inside a historic seaside theatre with a vibrant BoardWalk story that spans over a century.” Based on the concept art revealed, it’s looking like the former JellyRolls building would be the best fit for this spot, but we’re also waiting to see where the new quick-service restaurant announced for the BoardWalk will be going! 6:30 AM Habits Expert Disney Fans Practice We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all the latest Disney World news, so stay tuned to DFB! 2 Restaurants You Should LEAVE the Disney Parks for This Year Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! 14. It’s with heavy hearts that we share that Disney Legend Don Iwerks, known for being a pioneer in the development of multiple camera, projection, and other technical systems for Disney parks and films, has passed away at the age of 96 on July 9th. ©Disney To celebrate the life of such an incredible contributor to The Walt Disney Company, the company released an article detailing his life with the company and many accomplishments. Don was born on July 24th, 1929, and followed his father, animator, special effects wizard, and fellow Disney Legend Ub Iwerks, to Walt Disney Productions in 1950 and began as a special photographic processes laboratory technician. Shortly after, he was drafted to the Korean War, but returned to Disney after his two years of service. We thank him for his service. ©Disney He transferred to the Studio Machine Shop in early January 1953, where he was offered a position as a camera technician. His first film with Disney was 1954’s 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, and he eventually worked up to leading both the Machine Shop and Camera Service Department and the Technical Engineering and Manufacturing Division. ©Disney He was a big part of developing the 360-degree Circle-Vision camera, first used inside the Circarama, U.S.A. attraction in Disneyland, and for Italia ’61, Don taught an Italian film crew how to use the unique camera. Don also was part of building and developing the innovative film equipment used at the 1964–1965 New York World’s Fair, helped engineer 3-D film and in-theater effects for Captain EO, and built the projection system for Star Tours. ©Disney To recognize his various contributions to the history of film, Don was honored with the Gordon E. Sawyer Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Board of Governors in 1997, and then recognized as a Disney Legend at the inaugural D23 Expo in 2009. You can find both his and his father’s handprints at Legends Plaza on The Walt Disney Studios lot in Burbank, California. Additionally, you can find them both honored with a window on Main Street, U.S.A. in Magic Kingdom called “Iwerks–Iwerks Stereoscopic Cameras.” ©Disney Josh D’Amaro, Disney CEO, spoke on his passing, saying, “Don embodied that rare combination of heart, ingenuity, and passion that has always defined Disney. Through his innovative contributions to some of our most iconic films and attractions, he helped create experiences that have delighted generations of fans around the world. All of us at The Walt Disney Company will miss him deeply, and we send our most heartfelt condolences to his family, whose enduring connection to Disney has helped shape its legacy for over a century.” ©Disney We send our thoughts and deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew him. 19. There are tons of differnet desserts to grab in Disney World. You have your classic DOLE Whips, that famous Mickey Ice Cream Bar, and even newbies like the Cookie Dough Brownie Ice Cream Sandwich. The newest treat! We are constantly on the hunt for those new sweet treats around the resort. This hunt is what led us to the tried-and-true spot, The Ganachery, to check out their newest limited-time dessert. Should it be your next sweet treat? We have the answer right now! Welcome to a chocolate lover’s dream! The Ganachery is the chocolate shoppe in Disney World for all things fancy and rich. This spot frequently has new treats to try, and right now, that thing is the Chocolate Pistachio Sipper for $9. The Ganachery The sipper is chocolate milk topped with pistachio cream and served in a cracking dark chocolate cup. Talk about exciting! We love it when a classic sip gets a big upgrade like this. The Chocolate Pistachio Sipper Just by looking at the cup, we could tell this was a rich, creamy, decadent milk before we even tasted it. After our first sip, we knew we were totally right! We honestly thought the drink was more of a trend, but once we got a sip of that pistachio whipped cream, we knew this was the real deal. The chocolate brings in an incredibly rich profile, and the whipped cream is light and balances the drink well. A closer look at the top! Each squeeze of the cup releases more of the dark chocolate into the cup. Stirring it makes the milk even darker and more decadent as you sip it. The pops of raspberry added a bit of tartness each time one would get into the straw. While this might be a small cup, it seriously packs a punch. If you’re a chocolate lover but you’re looking for something that isn’t ice cream or a chocolate bar, this is a great alternative. It’s like an elevated chocolate milk that made us feel like kids again. The side after we broke it This treat was everything we could have hoped for, but if you’re wanting something lighter and more refreshing, we would steer clear of this one. The treat is available until August 10th. As always, be sure to keep following DFB for more Disney snacks, reviews, and more. 20. We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again, don’t sleep on the food that you can buy at Disney’s Animal Kingdom! Tanzanian Meat Pie Disney’s Animal Kingdom has some of the more unique snacks that you’ll find at Disney World. We often find ourselves at the park just to get the food alone. We recently went to Animal Kingdom to try a brand-new snack at Harambe Market, and we’re sharing our thoughts with you! Over at Harambe Market, we tried the new Tanzanian Meat Pie for $13.49. Tanzanian Meat Pie The snack is fluffy naan bread stuffed with spiced lamb and beef, topped with tzatziki and kachumbari. There is so much flavor in this meat pie. You can taste both the beef and the lamb, and the spices are not spicy but warming and slightly sweet. The meat by itself has just the tiniest burn from spice, which is so pleasant. Top it with the cucumber, tomato, and onion salad and tzatziki, and what you get is a warm, delicious, filling meat pie. This looks delicious! The naan bread is very fluffy and hearty, and makes this dish a full meal itself. Our favorite bites were the tzatziki and the kachumbari with the meat filling. It really gives you the full flavor of the spices. Let’s take a bite! We would order this again in a heartbeat! It is big enough to share, but also filling enough if you’re pretty hungry, as it is a larger snack. We are so happy to see African-inspired dishes popping back up at Harambe Market, which is why we keep saying you need to go get the snacks at Animal Kingdom. This is so tasty! You do get your choice of side with this. The cast member from whom we ordered recommended the fruit salad to go with the spicy meat, and we’re so glad she did. It really does offer a cooling side dish that does not conflict with or compete with the main dish at all. We loved this! You need to try it! 24. Your Disney World trip may end, but the magic doesn’t have to! ©Amazon Between park price hikes and the fact that vacations only last so long, more fans are turning their homes into mini versions of their favorite Disney spaces. This list rounds up 21 Amazon finds that let you bring a little bit of that Disney Parks magic into your everyday life. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. The Wall Space You Forgot Was Basically a Blank Canvas ©Amazon That empty wall in your hallway has been staring at you for months, waiting for something better than a random calendar. The BigWig Prints Mickey Mouse Wall Decor set gives you three 8×10 posters packed with nostalgic Mickey artwork and quotes that work in a kid’s bedroom, a bathroom, or a home office just as easily. It is one of those pieces that quietly turns a room from “unfinished” into “intentional.” view ON amazon Your Coffee Order Is About to Get a Major Upgrade ©Amazon Gas station coffee is fine, but it is not going to make your Monday morning feel like anything special. Joffrey’s Coffee Disney Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey Blend is the official coffee of Disney World, so you get that same sweet, citrusy, smooth cup you remember from your resort mornings, minus the plane ticket. It is a simple swap that makes your morning feel a little more like you’re back in the parks. view ON amazon The Tiny Detail That Makes Your Vanity Look Finished ©Amazon Jewelry piles up fast, and most trinket dishes look like an afterthought. The Crystal Pumpkin Carriage Jewelry Box solves that with a gold wireframe design straight out of Cinderella’s story, complete with rolling wheels and a hand-painted interior for your rings and earrings. It doubles as a decorative piece even when it is empty, which is more than most jewelry boxes can say in the first place. view ON amazon You Are One Poster Set Away From a Themed Room ©Amazon Plain walls are a missed opportunity, especially if you have got a Disney fan in the house who talks about their last trip nonstop. This set of nine vintage Disney Parks Wall Art posters covers classic attractions like Splash Mountain and Peter Pan’s Flight in that retro travel poster style collectors love. It works for a full gallery wall or just a few standout pieces scattered through the house. view ON amazon A Window Decoration That Does Not Scream “Seasonal Clearance Aisle” ©Amazon Most hanging window decor looks cheap after one season. The Disney Winnie the Pooh Tree Hanging Acrylic Wall Decor has a stained glass-inspired look that feels more like a keepsake than a decoration, with a soft, calming design that works year-round instead of just during a holiday. Hang it in a nursery, a reading nook, or any spot that could use a gentle pop of color. view ON amazon Two Parks, One Set, Zero Guesswork ©Amazon Picking just one Disney park to represent in your decor always feels like playing favorites. The Magic Kingdom and Epcot Wall Art Prints set solves that with two 8×10 prints on premium photo paper, so you get both parks without having to choose sides. The archival ink keeps the colors sharp for years, which matters more than people think when it comes to wall art. Grab this duo before your next redecorating project. view ON amazon Dinner Table Decor That Actually Gets Used ©Amazon Salt and pepper shakers usually sit in a cabinet until Thanksgiving, but this pair is different. The Disney Ceramics Stitch and Angel Salt and Pepper Shaker Set features the two characters nose-to-nose in sculpted stoneware, making them a genuinely cute addition to a table you actually set every day. It is a small detail, but small details are what make a kitchen feel personal. Grab this sweet little duo for your table. view ON amazon The Figurine That Turns a Sad Character Into Something Sweet ©Amazon Eeyore has a reputation for being a little gloomy, and honestly, that is part of his charm. The Winnie the Pooh Eeyore Holding Butterfly Miniature Figurine leans into that with a hand-painted stone resin design featuring rosemaling swirls and a pop of color from the butterfly. It comes in its own window gift box, so it is ready to give without any extra wrapping, or you always have the option to keep it for yourself! view ON amazon Your Bare Wall Deserves Better Than Another Framed Print ©Amazon Sometimes framed art is not the answer, and this wallpaper does a better job of transforming a whole room. RoomMates Disney Mickey Mouse Grey Block Print Peel and Stick Wallpaper brings a Scandinavian-inspired pattern with subtle Mickey heads woven throughout, and the peel and stick application means no commitment and no mess. One roll covers 20.5 inches by 18 feet, plenty for an accent wall. view ON amazon You Will Fight Your Family Over This Blanket ©Amazon The blankets in your house always disappear the second the weather turns, and this one is going to be the reason why. The Jay Franco Disney Mickey Mouse Faces Feather Knit Fluffy Throw Blanket measures 50×60 inches and is made from soft feather knit fabric featuring Mickey’s many expressions. And it’s machine washable, so it can survive actual daily use instead of sitting folded on a shelf for looks. view ON amazon A Softer Way to Bring Princess Energy Into a Room ©Amazon Not every Disney fan wants bold colors and bright characters covering their walls. Disney Princess Sketches Charcoal Peel and Stick Wallpaper takes a quieter approach with hand-drawn, sketch-style artwork in soft hues that feels more grown-up than a typical princess theme. It comes in the same 20.5-inch by 18-foot roll, easy enough to make it a weekend project. view ON amazon The Figurine That Makes a Great Excuse to Start Collecting ©Amazon Once you have one Jim Shore Disney Traditions piece, you are pretty much locked into collecting the whole line, and that is not necessarily a bad thing. The Disney Traditions by Jim Shore Tangled Rapunzel with Lantern Figurine features Rapunzel kneeling beside a lantern with her hair highlighted in clear tinted resin. It’s detailed enough to be a centerpiece on a shelf rather than just another knickknack. view ON amazon A Gallery Wall Without All the Guesswork ©Amazon Building a gallery wall from scratch usually means hours of measuring and second-guessing spacing. The Mickey Expressions Wall Art Bundle skips that entirely with four coordinating prints designed to work together right out of the box, ready to hang as a set. It’s a shortcut to a finished-looking wall without the trial and error! view ON amazon Halloween Town Deserves a Permanent Spot in Your House ©Amazon Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas fans tend to want Halloween decor available every day of the year, not just in October. This Framed Canvas Map Wall Decor lays out Halloween Town’s hot spots — from Jack’s house to Oogie Boogie’s lair — in a sketched map style framed with MDF wood. Since it works as general decor and not just seasonal decoration, you can keep this hung up year-round! view ON amazon A Cookie Jar That Does Not Look Like a Cookie Jar ©Amazon Kitchen storage containers are usually pretty forgettable, but this one is not that. The Silver Buffalo Alice in Wonderland Flowers and Mushrooms Glass Cookie Snack Candy Jar features whimsical illustrations pulled straight from Wonderland, and the secure lid keeps whatever you store inside fresh. It works just as well holding candy on a counter as it does tucked into a curated shelf display. view ON amazon Something Small That Steals the Whole Room ©Amazon Miniature decor pieces have a way of getting way more compliments than the big stuff, and this one is proof. The ASVP Shop Alice Mini Door is a hand-painted resin door inspired by Alice’s storybook world, complete with a fully sculpted 3D doorknob. It works as a shelf accent, a mantelpiece, or even a party centerpiece if you are hosting a storybook-themed celebration. view ON amazon Your Pin Collection Deserves Better Than a Drawer ©Amazon If your Disney pins are still sitting in a bag somewhere, it is time for an upgrade. This Castle Pin Display Cork Board is shaped like an actual castle and made from self-repairing cork that protects pin backs while holding your collection securely. At just under a pound, it mounts easily with adhesive patches or a hung rope for a display that finally does your pins justice. view ON amazon Breakfast Just Got a Lot More Magical ©Amazon A regular waffle iron does not exactly make Tuesday morning feel exciting. The Disney Classic Mickey Waffle Maker changes that with nonstick plates shaped like Mickey’s silhouette and an illuminated indicator light, so you know exactly when it is ready. It is officially licensed by Disney and makes breakfast feel like a small event instead of a chore. view ON amazon The Coffee Cup That Gets a Reaction Every Time ©Amazon Regular mugs do not usually make people stop and say something, but these will. The JoyJolt Disney Mickey Mouse 3D Glass Cups feature an optical 3D Mickey design visible through the double-walled glass, so every drink looks a little more special. They are microwave, dishwasher, and freezer safe too, which means the novelty does not come at the cost of practicality. view ON amazon A Map Poster Set for the Fan Who Loves All Four Parks Equally ©Amazon Choosing a favorite Disney park is basically impossible, so why decorate like you have to? This Disney Theme Park Map Poster set includes four 12×16 posters covering EPCOT, Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom in a pastel, vintage-inspired style. The set works well in a kid’s room or playroom, without feeling too juvenile for adult spaces either. view ON amazon A Candle That Brings Back a Very Specific Kind of Vacation Feeling ©Amazon Certain smells take you right back to a specific resort lobby, and that is exactly what this candle is going for. The Walter & Rosie Candle Co. Polynesian Scented Candle is inspired by the tropical Disney resort, blending sweet melon and creamy coconut into an 11-oz soy candle with about 40 hours of burn time. It is a small way to bring that resort feeling home between trips. view ON amazon Bringing a piece of Disney World into your everyday life does not have to mean a full room renovation or a trip back to the parks. These 21 finds cover everything from wall art to kitchen upgrades to collectibles, giving you plenty of ways to keep that Disney feeling close no matter how much time has passed since your last trip. It looks like so much fun! But it also has nice places to just relax, like this lovely on-ship garden, which is part of the ship’s Central Park neighborhood. ©USA Today Here’s one of the many dining areas on the ship. ©USA Today The ship has a total of eight neighborhoods, each with its own theme. ©USA Today The neighborhoods include a kid-friendly area called Surfside… ©USA Today …and the Royal Promenade. ©USA Today Now, let’s talk about the most important thing: dining. Restaurants include a train station-themed restaurant… ©USA Today …and an old Hollywood-themed supper club. ©USA Today There will also be new shows on the ship. ©USA Today Legend of the Seas seems impressive enough. 26. Disney’s latest hotel — the Lakeshore Lodge — is just about a year away from opening, and fans (it’s us, we’re fans too) are looking over all of the concept art Disney has released of the new hotel. ©Disney As we’ve been looking over all the details of the sprawling nature-themed resort, a couple of elements of concept art for Lakeshore Lodge’s sprawling pool and water recreation area have jumped out to us, connecting it to Disney World’s storied past. Dubbed The Wetlands, the outdoor recreation area will sit just beyond the hotel’s lobby and immerse guests in an area that’s “surrounded by the beauty of Bay Lake.” The Wetlands will feature a mixture of several different kinds of areas designed for guests, including Heron Shores and Otter Spring, each area loaded with interactive water features that draw inspiration from the classic 1995 animated film Pocahontas, specifically the lyrics “the heron and the otter are my friends” from “Colors of the Wind.” The Wetlands at Lakeshore Lodge ©Disney The Daydream River offers guests a “leisurely” tour around the Wetlands area and allows them to see the landscape. The Wetlands at Lakeshore Lodge ©Disney At the center of the Wetlands sits Lakeside Lagoon, a zero‑entry feature pool that will sit as the main hub of the area… Lakeside Lagoon at Lakeshore Lodge ©Disney …and includes a water slide. ©Disney While the presence of both a lazy river and a water slide may seem like simple amenities to some, longtime Disney fans know that their presence at the Lakeshore Lodge also harkens back five decades to River Country. ©Wikipedia Disney World’s first water park, River Country, was located on the same site where the Lakeshore Lodge complex is currently located. The park first opened near the Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground on June 20th, 1976. Themed as a “Tom Sawyer swimmin’ hole,” the park -– which was originally known in its planning stages as Pop’s Willow Grove –- was revolutionary thanks to numerous water-based attractions that would become industry standard at water parks in future decades. This would include water slides, an inner-tube river (just like the Lakeshore Lodge’s Wetlands), a sand-bottom lake, and a play area featuring tire swings and bridges. Disney’s River Country, the former water park on the site ©Disney River Country was initially very popular, though after the openings of Typhoon Lagoon (1989) and Blizzard Beach (1995), the park dipped to being Disney World’s third-most popular water park by a large margin. Still, it came as a surprise to many when the park closed for its annual winter closure on November 2nd, 2001, and simply never reopened. Disney initially remained silent on the issue for months before releasing a statement in 2002, which said the park would be closed for the remainder of the year. The park remained closed in 2003 and 2004 before Disney officially announced in 2005 that River Country was closed for good. Its closure was due to a slump in tourism post-9/11, as well as rising maintenance costs. River Country Footage The River Country site sat vacant and exposed to the elements for years, becoming a haven for urban explorers, until the final remnants were torn down in preparation for the construction of Lakeshore Lodge. ©bioreconstruct The presence of a waterslide and a lazy river within the concept art for the Wetlands area and the Lakeside Lagoon pool is not likely a reference to River Country, as those amenities would likely be present in the water area of any new major Disney hotel property, but that doesn’t mean that they’re not especially apt, given their location on the site of the former water park. 27. There is something special about escaping to the great outdoors without ever leaving the magic of Walt Disney World Resort. Nestled on 750 acres of pine and cypress forest, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground feels like a destination all its own. From peaceful mornings surrounded by nature to evenings spent gathered around a crackling campfire, every stay offers a chance to slow down, explore, and create a Disney vacation that feels a little different from anywhere else. Now, there are even more ways to enjoy a day at the resort, with an expanded Meadow Swimmin’ Pool area and a recently refreshed Reception Outpost that makes arriving at this beloved retreat feel smoother and more welcoming than ever. Make a Splash at the Expanded Meadow Swimmin’ Pool Area The Meadow Swimmin’ Pool has always been a favorite place to cool off between adventures, and the recently expanded area makes room for even more fun and relaxation. A new zero-entry pool and additional deck space have been added alongside the existing pool, effectively doubling the space for all to enjoy. Whether you prefer a relaxing swim, kicking back poolside, or heading straight for the 67-foot corkscrew waterslide, there are plenty of ways to make the most of a sunny resort day. The rustic setting also includes a special nod to a piece of Walt Disney World history. Keep an eye out for an old-fashioned barrel carriage featuring Mickey Mouse in his camping gear and a tribute to Disney’s River Country, the original Walt Disney World water park that once welcomed guests next door to Fort Wilderness. A Refreshed Welcome at the Reception Outpost The resort experience begins from the moment you arrive, and recent updates at the Reception Outpost help make that first welcome feel even more seamless and personal. The refreshed space allows cast members to connect with guests as they arrive and help families get settled before heading out to explore everything Fort Wilderness has to offer. Above the fireplace, new artwork adds a playful layer of Disney storytelling to the entry area, featuring Mickey Mouse and friends enjoying outdoor adventures along the water in a scene that feels right at home in the resort’s rustic setting. As you look up, you will also spot three playful scenes featuring Donald Duck’s nephews, Huey, Dewey, and Louie, enjoying some of the activities that make a Fort Wilderness stay so memorable, like archery, fishing, and camping beneath the trees. Make a Day of It at Fort Wilderness One of the best parts of a Fort Wilderness stay is that there are plenty of ways to enjoy a memorable day at the resort between theme park adventures. Fort Wilderness Tip: After checking into your campsite or Disney Vacation Club cabin, be sure to take a look at your resort recreation guide for a full list of available activities. Feeling adventurous? Start the morning with a horseback ride along serene woodland trails, grab a paddle and explore the waterways by canoe, take in the scenery during Wilderness Back Trail Adventure or test your aim during the Fort Wilderness Archery Experience. There are also plenty of simple ways to enjoy the natural scenery, whether you are cruising around the resort on a golf cart, hopping on a bike or taking a relaxing walk beneath the pine trees. As the sun goes down, gather around the fire for Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Campfire Sing-A-Long, where resort guests can roast marshmallows and spend time with two of their favorite Disney pals. If you are looking to even more singing, dancing, and laughter to your evening, I highly recommend making a reservation for Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue. It’s been delighting generations of guests at Pioneer Hall with lively entertainment and a country feast for more than 50 years, making it a can’t-miss experience for your Fort Wilderness stay. More Reasons to Stay in the Magic A day at Fort Wilderness can feel worlds away, but the rest of Walt Disney World Resort is still within easy reach. Resort guests can take advantage of complimentary transportation, including watercraft and bus service, to help keep their vacation moving smoothly. Staying at a Disney Resort hotel also comes with conveniences like early theme park entry, giving you a 30-minute jump on your Disney day at all four theme parks with valid admission. Whether you are planning a full resort day, winding down after a theme park adventure, or simply looking for a peaceful place to reconnect with family, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground offers a one-of-a-kind way to stay in the magic.
