  4. Epic Universe’s Stardust Racers is hitting the headlines
again. Stardust Racers Universal Orlando Resort is getting sued over Stardust Racers after a child allegedly suffered injuries after riding the popular Epic Universe attraction. We have all the latest news for you right there, so let’s take a look. According to the Orlando Sentinel, a mother is accusing the Universal Orlando Resort of “negligence after her 9-year-old son suffered permanent injuries while riding the popular Stardust Racers roller coaster at the Epic Universe theme park.” She argued that Universal failed to “add improved safety features to Stardust Racers” after the tragic death of Kevin Rodriguez Zavala after riding the coaster last year. Universal alleges that the mother was negligent for not using “reasonable care for her son’s safety.” Stardust Racers “It’s appalling that a company creates a ride that has a vast history of injuries
 and a death
and then they go and blame a parent for allowing their child to enjoy a ride that was marketed to whoever meets the requirements of that ride,” said Orlando-based attorney for Jennifer Lundy (the mother), Nicholas Spetsas. Stardust Racers Lundy sued Universal Orlando on August 17th in Orange County Circuit Court, and the case was transferred to federal court the next month. Mack Rides, a German-based company that designed and manufactured Stardust Racers, is a co-defendant in the suit. The lawsuit states, “Lundy’s son rode the coaster with his father on Oct. 13, 2025, but lost consciousness due to the forces generated by the attraction, causing his head and face to be thrown against the hard surfaces of the ride vehicle.” Nicholas Spetsas added that “the boy’s parents took him to seek treatment with the theme park’s health services personnel before later taking him to a hospital.” Stardust Racers The suit also noted that the young boy suffered lifelong injuries, and that he has been unable to physically attend school since the incident on Stardust Racers. The boy is undergoing physical therapy to learn how to walk properly again and suffers from chronic back pain. The suit says “he suffered head, neck, spinal and neurological injuries.” Stardust Racers Lundy is seeking over $75,000 in damages to “pay for her son’s past and continued medical treatment.” The suit argues he suffered “disability, disfigurement
loss of capacity for the enjoyment of life in the past and future
and loss of the ability to earn money in the future.” Epic Universe Universal responded to Lundy’s claims, saying she “knowingly and voluntarily assumed the risks associated with her son riding a thrill ride, including the potential for significant acceleration and deceleration and head and body movements associated with such attractions.” Universal also said, “she failed to ensure her son followed posted warnings and instructions for the attraction, and that also caused or contributed to his alleged injuries, the suit said.” Epic Universe We’ll be keeping an eye on this story to see how it unfolds. 6. Disney World vacations are already expensive as it is, but some things are TOTALLY worth spending more on during my trip. Am I in my 20s and have $5 to my name? Yes. But I am splurging on these six things every time? Absolutely. HOKA Clifton 10s Some you can simply buy before your trip, while others you’ll have to pay for. Let’s go through the six things everyone should splurge on during their Disney World vacation. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. A Good Pair Of Shoes Is A MUST! Hoka Clifton 10 Sneakers After HOURS and MILES of testing, HOKAs have definitely come out as one of the strongest contenders, specifically the HOKA Women’s Clifton 10s! They’re comfortable, supportive, and durable, so they’re sure to last you a long time! The heel may look chunky, but don’t let that steer you away — they’re actually extremely lightweight, so much that you don’t even feel them on your feet! As someone with plantar fasciitis who has tested out several pairs of shoes, HOKAs are definitely taking that #1 spot! view ON AMAZON Brooks Are Another Great Option! We LOVE Brooks shoes! The Brooks Ghost 17s have also held up during our long Disney days, and if you don’t find me in HOKAs, you’ll definitely find me in Brooks. This shoe features a blend of soft and dynamic cushioning that offers comfort with each step. There is also a comfy grip around the toe and front of the shoe that hugs your foot for stability, but doesn’t squeeze too tightly. Anyone looking for a well-fitting, comfortable shoe that supports long walks will love these! view ON AMAZON Why Hire A Masseuse When You Can Get These? ©Amazon We won’t lie to you when we say your legs will HURT after a full day of walking around Disney World. There are a few options to help you recover, like Epsom salt baths, icing, and foot masks, but maybe the most effective are Leg Compression and Heat Massagers. This four-zone leg massager uses sequential air compression rather than rollers and vibration to gently wrap and squeeze the feet, calves, and thighs in a smooth upward rhythm. Rather than focusing on one area at a time, the air chambers inflate and release section by section to create a more even, full-leg compression experience. This massager features six massage modes and nine intensity levels, so you can adjust it to your comfort level. view ON AMAZON Lightning Lanes Whether you’re purchasing Lightning Lane Single Pass, Lightning Lane Multi Pass, or Lightning Lane Premier Pass, these services will make your vacation much easier and more enjoyable! No need to worry about wait times — simply book a time slot and scan in when it’s your turn! Guests staying at a Disney World resort can begin booking seven days before the start of their vacation, while non-resort guests can begin booking three days before. When it comes to Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you can hold up to three attractions at a time. This is something I splurge on EVERY. SINGLE. VACATION. Stay At A Resort With A Kitchen You’ll most likely be eating A LOT of food during your Disney World vacation since there are so many amazing snacks to try! But where do you put your leftovers when you get back to your hotel? If you’re staying in a standard guest room, the answer to that question is the trash, since there are no refrigerators. Yes, there are beverage coolers, but those don’t stay cold enough to keep food fresh. That’s the plus of staying in a studio or a villa — those rooms include fridges! Polynesian Village Resort Studio Rooms with kitchens also make it easier on families with little kids, especially if your kiddos are picky with what they eat. Yes, you’ll be spending a bit more money on a studio or a villa, but bringing your own food can also save you a lot of money since Disney meals can get expensive! Old Key West Resort Studio Room “How does one get food to their resort?” you may ask. Well, there’s a little something called Amazon Fresh! Amazon Fresh offers groceries, perishable and non-perishable, straight to your resort! Simply order it for same-day delivery or up to three days in advance! They will drop them off to Bell Services at your resort, and you’ll pick them up from there! There is a $9.95 fee for orders under $50, a $6.95 on orders between $50 and $99, and FREE for orders over $100! ©Amazon Preferred Rooms At The Bigger Resorts Not all resorts’ rooms are located in one building — there are actually quite a few that have multiple buildings for their guest room, and some so big that they have an internal bus system to bring you around! For those resorts, like Saratoga Springs Resort, Coronado Springs Resort, Pop Century Resort, etc., book a preferred room! These rooms are closer to all of the major amenities, like transportation, dining, shopping, and more! Pop Century Resort Now, go splurge! We’re always on the hunt for the latest and greatest Disney souvenirs and essentials, so don’t forget to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more! View the full article
  7. If you’ve been a Disney fan living on the internet, you know that lies get spread SO easily! Magic Kingdom One incorrect or satirical social media post goes viral, and suddenly everyone’s thinking that there’s a weather dome over the parks or Walt Disney’s head is frozen underneath Cinderella Castle. That’s why we’re here — to bust up those rumors and break down the facts. Let’s chat about some of the Disney rumors swirling around this week! Disneyland Oklahoma
? FAKE Was Disneyland Oklahoma ever a real thing? This question has been trending the past few days, and it’s time that we break it down. The short answer? No. There never was a Disneyland in Oklahoma. So why is this a topic of conversation? Disneyland entrance Well, ABC KOCO News 5 reports that a few years ago, someone posted a “screenshot” on X of a fake Disneyland (Oklahoma) Wikipedia page. The screenshot, which was a fabrication, claimed that someone in Oklahoma renamed their theme park Disneyland after it was discovered that the original patent for Disneyland had a misspelling. Of course, none of this is true, and Disneyland has only ever been attributed to The Walt Disney Company. Big rumors like this can sometimes resurface, which is exactly what we saw this week as it was trending in Google searches! Disneyland Is OFFICIALLY Removing Its No-Show Policy Is Disney Buying Epic Games? FAKE (For Now) Over the years, there have been quite a few acquisitions of companies and IPs on Disney’s end, and the business is ever-expanding. Recently, rumors have been swirling that Disney was planning to purchase Epic Games, the developer behind Fortnite. During an interview at Bloomberg Screentime 2026, Disney’s Chief Creative Officer Dana Walden addressed the subject. Smugglers Gambit Walden was asked if the company was considering buying Epic Games, and she shared that there were previous conversations about an investment and an equity stake, but those are not the conversations that the company is having right now. She went on to say, “We have a great partnership and a number of launches coming up over the next two years that are going to demonstrate the value of this partnership.” Dana Walden, President of The Walt Disney Company, Calls Recent Layoffs “Extremely Painful” Maleficent Coaster Details! TBD Back at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in August, Disney revealed new details about the roller coaster coming to Villains Land in Magic Kingdom. It was shared that this new coaster will be themed to Maleficent, and it will feature elements that Disney has never done before. ©Disney Well, naturally, fans have been speculating about this mysterious new ride and what the “new” element will be. Fans have theorized that the ride will be a drop coaster, similar to Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure at Universal Orlando. Disney hasn’t confirmed or denied this theory, so we’ll just have to wait and see. ©Disney We also recently broke down what the OTHER Villains Land ride could look like, and you can check that out below. Is This What the NEW Disney Villains Land Dark Ride Will Be Like? Someone Jumped in the Water at Gran Fiesta Tour? Unfortunately
that’s REAL Recently, posts started coming out on social media that showed a video of what appears to be a man diving into the water on the Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros. In a world where everyone gets real life and AI videos confused, people were questioning if this happened. Gran Fiesta Tour Unfortunately, this was a REAL story, and you can see the video below, which was posted by Michelin-starred Chef Michael Collantes. A representative for Walt Disney World Resort said in a statement to PEOPLE, “This behavior was unsafe and a clear violation of our park rules. The guest and his party were trespassed.” On This Episode of “We Can’t Have Nice Things” in Disney World
We’ll be looking out for any more rumors that are swirling around, and we’ll keep you in the loop as we get information. To learn more about the new Maleficent ride, check out the video below. 8. Disney World rides run all day, every day, for 12 hours straight, so it takes a lot of work to keep things in tip-top shape, which means some rides will have to close for maintenance. It’s never fun to get to a Disney park and realize your favorite ride closed, which is why we always keep an eye on the refurbishment calendar to prep for closures on our and your upcoming trips! Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom Disney recently announced that a super popular Magic Kingdom ride is closing for refurbishment this November, and now we know when the ride will reopen, too! Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will close for refurbishment on Monday, November 2nd, according to the Disney World refurbishment calendar. The Disney World website now states that it will reopen on Friday, December 18th, 2026. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure! Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is a thrilling water ride featuring Princess Tiana, Prince Naveen, and more beloved characters from The Princess and the Frog. It opened in Magic Kingdom on June 28th, 2024, making it over two years old. This is the ride’s first major refurbishment, and while Disney hasn’t shared any details about what the closure is for, it’s likely for general maintenance. The ride has struggled with animatronics mishaps since it opened, so this closure could address some of these issues. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure In addition to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, Tiana’s Bayou General will also close on November 2nd. Located at the ride exit, you can purchase your ride photos and some Princess Tiana merchandise. The store could reopen with the ride, but no official reopening date has been announced yet. Tiana’s Bayou General Critter Co-Op will remain open during this closure, which offers similar Princess and the Frog merchandise along with other general Disney souvenirs. This store is located before the queue entrance to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure near the bridge. Critter Co-Op We’ll be sure to keep you updated on more Disney World ride refurbishments you need to know about. In the meantime, stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney World news! 9. Celebrities
they’re just like us! Sometimes we forget that well-known celebrities are also big fans of Disney films! ©HBO You know how you have those films that you can recite easily because you’ve seen them so many times? Well, so do they! During a recent interview while on her press tour for Warner Brothers’ Practical Magic 2, Maisie Williams, best known for playing Arya Stark in the hit TV show Game of Thrones, revealed that she can recite the entirety of Disney’s film Inside Out completely by memory, and it’s hilarious — you’ve gotta see this! In an interview with Cosmopolitan with her co-star Joey King, Maisie Williams revealed that the film she can recite word-for-word is none other than Inside Out! ©HBO She went on to tell a story, saying that on a recent night, she hadn’t been able to sleep. She didn’t want to turn the movie on and have all the blue light in her eyes so close to trying to go to sleep, so instead she watched the movie in her head. When she’d accidentally skip forward in the story, she’d go, “Wait, wait, wait, go back!” Check out the full interview clip here: This is pretty common among Disney fans, or especially those who consider themselves Disney Adults, like we do! When we’re in the parks, not only do we find ourselves reciting facts to our friends about what we’re walking past, like how the shutters in Liberty Square in Magic Kingdom are supposed to all be uneven to make them time period appropriate, or we mention all the old attractions that used to be in EPCOT (and complain about how nothing is being done with the PLAY! Pavilion). Hall of Presidents in Liberty Square We often have to stop ourselves from reciting parts of ride pre-shows too loudly, especially at our favorites like Haunted Mansion, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, and Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. While it’s fun for us, we remember that not everyone in the room with us has been on the ride before, so we usually just settle for mouthing along so we can have our fun without disturbing others. In fact, this is part of the suspected reason that Disney just changed the pre-show in Cosmic Rewind! Previously, Terry Crews asked someone off camera, “Does anyone know what they call themselves?” and sometimes, people would shout inappropriate things. However, Disney has just changed the pre-show so that the gap to allow for an answer no longer exists. Cosmic Rewind We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all the latest Disney news, so stay tuned to DFB! 10. Today, Gerardo “Jerry” Quijada Gonzalez leads one of the most iconic table-service dining locations at Walt Disney World Resort as Chef de Cuisine at Be Our Guest Restaurant in Magic Kingdom park. But more than two decades ago, his Disney story began at EPCOT, where he participated in the International College Program at the Mexico Pavilion. “I fell in love with the company, the vision and everything Disney stood for,” Chef Jerry said. That experience left a lasting impression and planted a dream that would guide the rest of his career. After returning to Mexico, Chef Jerry completed college and built a successful career in the culinary industry. Still, he never let go of the idea of coming back to Disney. When an opportunity to return to Central Florida finally came, Chef Jerry and his family made a significant sacrifice to pursue that dream. They left behind an established career, packed up their lives, and moved with little more than four suitcases and the belief that the opportunity would be worth it. In 2016, after years of perseverance and dozens of applications, Chef Jerry officially joined Disney Culinary as a sous chef. “I’m here because of my wife, my kids, my leaders, and my cast,” Chef Jerry said. “This is not a one-person journey.” Years later, that leap of faith continues to shape the way Chef Jerry leads. Since joining Disney Culinary, he has worked across multiple locations throughout Walt Disney World, helped open new dining experiences and steadily advanced through the culinary leadership ranks. Today, his passion extends beyond creating menus to developing the cast members who bring those dining experiences to life. “Creating the menu is the easy part,” he said. “Having the cast believe in what they do and why they do it — that’s the challenging part. The best dining experiences come from teams that feel connected to their work and empowered to bring their unique perspectives to the table.” Growing up in Mexico, Chef Jerry explained, food was never just a meal. It was a way to celebrate, teach, connect, and care for one another. Family recipes carried stories from one generation to the next. Meals brought loved ones together around a shared table. His biggest influence, however, has been his mother. Chef Jerry credits her with teaching him how to cook and inspiring his love of food from an early age. She also showed him that food is about more than what is on the plate — it is about family, culture, honoring the people who helped shape you, and creating connections that bring people together. Those values continue to guide Chef Jerry’s approach to leadership and culinary creativity today. He regularly involves his team in the development process, encouraging them to share techniques, traditions and ideas that reflect their own backgrounds and experiences. “With my team, I want them involved,” Chef Jerry said. “What do you think? What does it need? That’s how they grow.” From the lessons he learned in his mother’s kitchen to the cast members he mentors today, Chef Jerry knows the journey was never his alone. And now through every dish, every conversation and every guest experience he proves that a dream carried across borders can become something even bigger when it is shared with others. 11. Uh oh
a popular Disney World restaurant is getting hit with a closure very soon! While we always hate to see restaurant closures pop up around the parks and resorts, they’re usually necessary — and sometimes it even means a new look or new menu is on the way. United Kingdom pavilion Now that Disney has shared all of the price increases, you’ve probably started planning for your 2027 Disney World vacation. You’ve maybe even started booking those dining experiences now that you know what the new prices are. Well, you’re going to want to know about a closure that’s hitting EPCOT! EPCOT’s Rose & Crown Dining Room, which you’ll find in the United Kingdom pavilion at World Showcase, will enter refurbishment next year. The refurb will begin on February 15th, 2027, and it is expected to remain closed through early spring 2027. There is no official reopening date as of right now. Rose & Crown Rose & Crown is one of EPCOT’s more popular table-service restaurant options. There, you’ll be served British pub-style food and beautiful views of the World Showcase and World Showcase Lagoon. Disney also hasn’t announced any details on what the refurbishment will involve. Rose & Crown Speaking of changes at EPCOT, there are some more on the way. Crazy enough, EPCOT’s International Food & Wine Festival is getting closer and closer to wrapping up. Doesn’t it feel like it just started?! In fact, the festival JUST added India, The Alps, Earth Eats, and Coastal Eats booths recently. The festival will come to an end on November 21st. Crab Cake After Food and Wine wraps up, EPCOT will welcome the International Festival of the Holidays, which begins on November 27th. The festival will bring holiday traditions from all around the world (showcase) to guests through decorations, stories, music, cuisine, and additional special events. 2025 Gingerbread Spaceship Earth in CommuniCore Hall We’ll be keeping an eye out for more news regarding the closure of Rose & Crown. Hopefully Disney shares news on what kind of changes we could be seeing during the refurbishment, as well as when we can expect to see the restaurant reopen. 12. Nashville has a brand-new place to stay, and it’s got Dolly Parton written all over it. SongTeller Hotel Dolly Parton’s SongTeller Hotel has soft opened in Music City with incredible theming, cool experiences, and all the colorful flair we know and love. But the rooms aren’t the only thing guests are booking here. There’s one little extra that has people happily handing over a few more dollars. Wine, chocolate, flowers, and Dolly lyrics in a frame? Yep, there’s a hotel add-on for that. What’s in the Romance Package The “I Will Always Love You” Romance Package is designed to dress up a couple’s getaway. Add it to your stay, and you’ll get: A bottle of sparkling wine Chocolate truffles A sweetheart flower arrangement Framed lyrics to your favorite Dolly song The first three are what you’d hope for from any romance package. The framed lyrics are the part that makes this one feel like it could ONLY happen here. You pick the Dolly song, so it’s personal to the two of you instead of a one-size-fits-all gift. It also fits the whole point of the hotel, which is built around Dolly’s songwriting. That’s a big reason people are saying yes to the extra $45. On a stay that’s already a splurge, it’s a fairly small bump for an anniversary, a honeymoon, or a surprise for your favorite Dolly fan. Standard Room Read the Fine Print First Before you book, there are a few rules to know. The offer is subject to availability, and restrictions apply: Blackout dates and minimum night requirements may apply Availability depends on the room type and travel dates you select It can’t be combined with other offers, promotions, or discounts It’s not valid for groups of 10 or more You’ll need to cancel at least 48 hours before arrival to avoid a penalty The guest must be 21 or older to complete the reservation and check in, and a valid ID is required That no-stacking rule is the one to watch. If you’ve got your eye on another deal at the hotel, you’ll have to choose between the two. SongTeller Hotel Dolly’s Love Letter to Nashville Now, about the hotel you’d be celebrating in! SongTeller Hotel is all about Dolly’s love of music. Dolly has been a SongTeller all her life, and there’s no better place to write a song than Nashville. She calls the hotel “my love letter to the city,” a place for musicians and guests to come together and soak up Music City’s spirit. You can feel that inspiration the second you walk in, along with Dolly’s love of all things colorful. The lobby is large and inviting. It’s sleek and modern, but it still manages to feel cozy and comfortable. One quick note before you plan your trip: this hotel is in Nashville. It is NOT at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, so make sure you’re headed to the right city! Lobby area A Look Inside the Rooms There are several room types to choose from, including the Signature Rooms, Signature Suites, Acoustic Suites, Six Sister Suites, and The SongTeller Suite. Our Signature Room We stayed in a Signature Room, which comes with either a king bed or two queens. It’s loaded with amenities, including a mini fridge, premium sateen sheets, in-room music, a smart TV, nightly turndown service, and more. Signature Suite room What we noticed first was the attention to detail in every part of the room, and even that started outside the room. The blue and pink decor around the doors is stunning, and we love that it’s complete with different song lyrics by Dolly. So cool! When you walk into the room, you will immediately notice the bathroom to the right, complete with a large portrait of Dolly Parton herself on the door. Stepping inside the room The amount of counter space here is absolutely incredible, and we truly cannot get enough. And TWO sinks? Yes, please. The bathroom Let’s take a closer look at that mirror too. We love that the sides, which look like musical staves, light up, as well as the quote from Dolly in the corner. Right across from the bathroom, you’ll find another counter with a mirror, where you can complete your makeup, or keep getting ready if others need the bathroom. This is also where you’ll find your beverage cooler, your ice bucket, and glasses. Across from the bathroom Inside the closet, which you’ll find right next to the table, you’ll find a very nice robe
Robe in the dresser! Further into the rest of the room, this is where you’ll find the bed! This section of the room is also incredibly detailed, and we couldn’t get enough of it. The bedroom The bedside tables have plenty of charging ports, which we really appreciated, and you’ll even find speakers so you can play your own music! Check out the chargers and speaker! One of our favorite details is the wallpaper! It looks like ticket stubs from different Dolly concerts, which we think is so incredible. The wall! One of our other favorite details is the Dolly guitar pillow on the bed. This pillow is everything The windows here have both mesh curtains and darker blackout curtains to choose which you’d like. Windows! On the other side of the room is where you’ll find the TV, as well as the dresser and two different seating areas. Across from the bed For a couple booking the Romance Package, it’s an easy fit. You’ve got a fridge to keep that sparkling wine cold, music to set the mood, and turndown service every night of your stay. See More Details of Our Room Here! The Sister Suite We also took a look at one of the Sister Suites, and this one is made for a group. There are three beds that each fit two people, and every bed has curtains you can pull closed when you want some privacy. Sister Suites The bathroom keeps up with the crowd, too, with multiple vanities and sinks plus three showers. It’s the dream slumber party setup! LOVE this bathroom! The suite is inspired by Dolly’s five sisters, and the details are so sweet. The chandelier in the sitting area features all of their birthstones, and their names appear on the side table. We love a room with a sitting area! COME WITH US to Dolly Parton’s NEW Hotel So, Is It Worth It? We had a fantastic time at SongTeller Hotel. There are more affordable places to stay around Nashville, and we won’t pretend otherwise. But this one puts you right in the heart of the excitement, and for a lot of travelers, that location could justify the price. If you’re already booking a room for a special occasion, the Romance Package is an easy way to make the trip feel like an event. For $45, you’re walking into wine, truffles, flowers, and your song in a frame. And stay tuned to DFB, because we’ll keep sharing more travel tips. 14. A few changes are on the way to Disney World! Some of them are new, and some of them could bring back features we have been missing. Magic Kingdom entrance Disney World recently filed a few permits for some new projects, and while we know what some of them are for, we’re left guessing for another. We have all the information for you, so let’s dive into what’s coming and what’s possibly on the way! Walt Disney Imagineering has filed four new permits with Orange County for signage work, and it looks like it applies to the toll plazas at all four Disney World theme parks. Kentavo is the listed contractor on the permit, and the company is known for Disney signage, with a long track record of work across the resort. Bring Disney to your car! Each permit actually corresponds to one of the four parks, including Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. So, this is very much an update across Disney World rather than a one-off replacement. Driving to Hollywood Studios It’s been a big year of construction at Disney World, from upcoming attractions to rides reopening. One of those reopenings earlier this year was Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Magic Kingdom. Well, it looks like Disney isn’t done quite yet, as Walt Disney Imagineering has also filed a permit to “install set elements” at the popular attraction. While we don’t know what specifically is coming, we think we could see some little friends returning! Big Thunder Mountain Railroad After 16 months of refurbishment, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad finally reopened in May. There were a lot of new elements that had been added to the ride, but we noticed (and so did a lot of guests) that the opossums that used to hang over riders in Tumbleweed were gone! We didn’t panic too much, since Disney said that they’d return soon, but we haven’t seen or heard anything since. Well, like we mentioned, Disney filed a new permit recently, and maybe this is the sign! Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Look, Disney hasn’t stated any details, and there is nothing in the permit that mentions opossums. All we know is that they are working to “install set elements”. That being said, it looks like things could be lining up, but the elements could really be for anything. We’ll be keeping an eye out for any changes. If you’re looking for details on the permit, Walt Disney Imagineering is the owner, and the address at 4485 Caribbean Way #B corresponds to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. We love this ride! We don’t have any other details than what was provided, so we’ll also be keeping an eye out for other updates. There is a lot of construction happening at Disney World still, which means there is a lot to keep up with. So, make sure to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog to get all the latest. 6 Changes Coming to EPCOT Next Month Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! 16. A couple of months ago, one of the restaurants at Disney World closed for the foreseeable future due to a kitchen fire, but we have some good news — this restaurant has OFFICIALLY reopened! Bourbon Steak by Michael Mina On June 25th, 2026, a fire broke out in the kitchen of Bourbon Steak – A Michael Mina Restaurant at the Dolphin Hotel. While it didn’t do any damage to the hotel itself, it had a pretty big impact on the restaurant. We stopped by the hotel yesterday and found the restaurant reopened! We have everything you need to know about booking reservations and dining here! Bourbon Steak by Michael Mina is one of Disney’s signature dining experiences located in the Dolphin Hotel. The restaurant brings a reimagined modern take on the American steakhouse, offering premium cuts of beef, seafood with a variety of global flavors, world-class beverages, and signature desserts. Center Cut Filet Mignon This restaurant is available for dinner only from 5 PM to 11 PM. When the kitchen fire happened, there was no reopening date announced; however, on our recent visit to the Dolphin Hotel, we found it to be open! And the best part is that everything is fixed and they are fully operational! Bourbon Steak by Michael Mina Although the Swan and Dolphin Hotels are not owned directly by Disney, reservations can still be made on the My Disney Experience app and website. Guests can also reserve dining through OpenTable or by calling (407) 934-1199. Bourbon Steak by Michael Mina And this restaurant is definitely worth your time and money. We stopped by when it first opened in July 2025, and it was SO good! The Black Truffle Bread is some of the BEST bread we’ve had on property, the Onion Soup Gratin really wowed us with its flavors and rich cheesiness, the Jumbo Lump Crab Cake was OUTSTANDING, and the steak was one of the BEST steaks we’ve had at Disney World in YEARS! This restaurant blew us away — we’d highly recommend trying it on your next vacation! Onion Soup Gratin But this is only one restaurant out of the hundreds at Disney World, and if you’re planning a vacation, you’re going to need more than one restaurant to eat at. Picking restaurants for Disney World can feel like a full-time job, but don’t worry — we do the work for you! Our Guide to Disney World Dining pulls it all together so you can stop stressing and focus on the fun without feeling like you’re missing a thing! Black Truffle Bread Since Chef Mina is a well-known chef who owns more than 40 restaurants worldwide and has been awarded multiple Michelin stars, it can be difficult to grab reservations at this restaurant. We recommend booking as soon as possible, so you can secure your spot at this signature dining location! Stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more Disney news, updates, tips, and tricks. 21. Staying at one of the Disney World Deluxe resorts gives you a plethora of perks: Close proximity to one (or even two) of the theme parks, Early Entry into the park, and just a walk away from some of Disney’s signature dining locations! But maybe one of the biggest perks of staying at a Deluxe resort is access to Extended Evening Hours. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge On select nights at select parks, guests staying at a valid resort can enjoy TWO extra hours in the park without the general public crowds. That means lower wait times for some of the biggest attractions! However, not every attraction may be available, and we saw this in Hollywood Studios, but one of the park’s most popular rides was just added to the list of available rides! Extended Evening Hours at Hollywood Studios just got SO much better because one of the park’s most popular attractions just got added to the list of available rides! Previously, guests were not able to ride Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance because it was closed during Extended Evening Hours, but now they can! Disney lists the eligible attractions on their website, so when we were taking a look, we found Rise of the Resistance to now be on there! Rise of the Resistance Here, guests will join the Resistance on a thrilling adventure, but you’re caught by the First Order, and now you have to escape. Luckily, a covert team of Resistance fighters is there to help! You’ll be met face-to-face with Kylo Ren as you try to escape with the help of Finn, Lieutenant Beck, R-5, and more! This trackless ride includes a small Tower of Terror-like drop, but not as intense. Rise of the Resistance The other available attractions in Hollywood Studios during Extended Evening Hours are: Alien Swirling Saucers Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets Slinky Dog Dash Star Tours – The Adventures Continue Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror Toy Story Mania! Slinky Dog Dash And you must be staying at one of the following hotels to be eligible: Disney Deluxe Resorts Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Disney’s Beach Club Resort Disney’s BoardWalk Inn Disney’s Contemporary Resort Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Disney’s Yacht Club Resort Disney’s Beach Club Resort Disney Deluxe Villa Resorts Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Jambo House Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village Disney’s Beach Club Villas Disney’s BoardWalk Villas Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge Disney’s Old Key West Resort Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows Disney’s Riviera Resort Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort – A Disney Vacation Club Resort (The extended evening theme park hours benefit applies to Disney Vacation Club Cabins only.) Three new lounges aboard the ship – Sea Notes, Wishing Well and Skygazers – will feature designs and menus inspired by the powerful stories that ignite imaginations and quench curiosity. Sea Notes, an iridescent piano lounge inspired by Walt Disney Animation Studios’ The Little Mermaid, will feature a collection of cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages that are just as whimsical as the venue’s pearlescent piano and under-the-sea motif. If you want to be part of Ariel’s world, there are two drinks here that are ‘shore’ to be crowd pleasers. Both featured in an opulent seashell-inspired glass, the Sea Salt Martini is made with Mermaid Sea Salt Vodka, Italicus Rosolio di Bergamotto, cucumber juice, and Cocchi Americano Aperitif, topped with salted coconut sea foam, beet leaf microgreens. The non-alcoholic version Under the Seaweed will feature Lyre’s Tequila Alternative, cucumber juice, coconut water, lime juice, and blue curacao syrup topped with nori seaweed and salted coconut sea foam. At Wishing Well, a storybook setting themed after the Disney Animation classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, you’ll find quite the lineup of concoctions and tasty potions inspired by the film. The Peddler’s Disguise will beckon the Evil Queen herself in a glass that magically changes colors when filled with its potion: green apple, elderflower, vanilla, white cranberry juice, lime juice, and Fever-Tree Lime Yuzu Soda. Last, but certainly not least, we’re taking a trip to an astronomer’s laboratory at the new pub coming to the Disney Believe, Skygazers. At this venue, the props and artifacts won’t be the only things inspired by stars – so will the drinks! Served in a sparkly vessel that evokes the constellations in the night sky, Moonshine (Roku Gin, Dassai Blue 50 Sake, Chareau Aloe Liqueur, Cocchi Americano Aperitif, and moon aroma bubble) and the non-alcoholic version Starshine (Seedlip Garden 108 Distilled Non-Alcoholic Spirit, Origami Zero Non-Alcoholic Sake, white grape, yuzu, elderflower, and moon aroma bubble) are sure to shimmer as bright as the stars above. 28. Disney World has been making quite a few dining changes recently. Mickey waffle with chicken? Yes, please! We saw resort-wide price increases on restaurants and we’ve seen a few locations (like The Diamond Horseshoe) get makeovers or menu overhauls recently. One beloved spot that got some changes is Grand Floridian Cafe, and it looks like a controversial schedule update is coming! Grand Floridian Cafe at the Grand Floridian Resort has been closed for refurbishment since mid-July and is set to reopen on November 1st. During the restaurant’s closure, guests have been able to enjoy the Grand Flo Cafe brunch menu at Citricos upstairs. But now, it looks like brunch might be changing when the regular space reopens? Seating at the Grand Floridian Cafe Disney just updated its website to add reservation times for breakfast and lunch starting on November 2nd. Previously, reservations during that time period were listed as “brunch,” so will the restaurant now be serving two separate meals?! The hours of operation for the restaurant have not been fully updated yet, still only listing “Dinner” from 5 PM to 9 PM each evening starting November 2nd. ©Disney Brunch at Grand Floridian Cafe has been a longtime favorite of ours, and is often rated among some of the most underrated meals in Disney World. There aren’t a ton of brunch options in Disney World, particularly if you’re visiting mid-week, and if this one goes away, it’ll be the second brunch to disappear recently. DELISH! Not very long ago, Disney World also did away with brunch at Olivia’s Cafe at Old Key West Resort. This was another beloved and underappreciated meal, and Olivia’s now serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily with three separate menus. We were so sad to see brunch go! RIP Brunch at Olivia’s Cafe So Disney, what gives?! Are we going to see more brunch options swapped out for breakfast, lunch, and dinner? We’ll have to wait and see what happens when the Grand Floridian Cafe reopens. Thankfully, there are still a handful of spots to grab brunch in Disney Springs that aren’t Disney-owned (we’re looking at you, Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin‘) and if you want brunch at a Disney Resort, you can still stop by Whispering Canyon Cafe at Wilderness Lodge. To see our list of best breakfast options in Disney World, check out the YouTube video below. We’ll keep you in the loop with any more news about this subject, so stay tuned to DFB.
