  2. We’ve been following the recent news regarding Disney filing a First Amendment lawsuit against the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) after unusual pressure from the federal government forced the company’s stations to submit licenses for early renewal proceedings. ©ABC Recently, the FCC asked a federal judge to toss out Disney’s lawsuit, and while U.S. District Judge Loren AliKhan in Washington has a hearing on the lawsuit scheduled for October 6th, we have another update on the situation — Disney has now said that the threats the President has made against reporters and broadcast networks are grounds for a United States judge to block the FCC from reviewing Disney’s eight ABC station licenses early. According to Yahoo! news, Disney ‌and ABC said in a court filing that FCC Chair Brendan Carr has made clear he is carrying out Trump’s specific directives that are “aimed at curbing speech critical of the administration.” The company then went on to say that while the implementation of these actions are improper, they made sense since if the President deems he is “insufficiently responsive to his directives,” he could be removed. ©ABC Carr ordered the early reviews this past April, even though the ABC stations’ license renewals were not scheduled to be considered before October 2028. This is the first time in over 50 years that the FCC has ordered an early review, which was filed the day after Trump ‌urged ABC to fire late-night host Jimmy Kimmel. Disney has also cited specific threats the President has recently made towards journalists at NBC, including “Meet the Press” anchor Kristen Welker and an ABC White House reporter. After Welker noted the Republican president’s success in endorsing ‌political candidates has been mixed, the President threatened she would be reported to the FCC for “rebuke or punishment.” ©NBC Disney also noted that Carr warned after Trump’s threat that the commission could soon issue guidance to broadcast television networks over what he called “fake polls.” However, on Wednesday, Carr declined to comment on whether he would pursue action against Welker. Legal experts who have commented on the matter have stated that Welker’s comments are protected by the First Amendment. Disney also stated that Carr is following Trump’s “retaliatory directives and using early license renewals to punish broadcasters for disfavored speech.” ©Comcast Broadcast stations, such as ABC and NBC, need FCC licenses ‌to use public airwaves. FCC revocations are extremely rare, but even the threat of losing a license is enough to pressure broadcasters and raise concerns about government interference in programming decisions. We’ll continue to keep you updated on the latest surrounding this news, so stay tuned to DFB. 4. The EPCOT Food & Wine Festival is well underway and will be running through November 21st. Now, we’ve already eaten our way through most of the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival booths, but some food booths and experiences didn’t open until a little later, including a cool interactive exhibit that’s all about cheese! CommuniCore Hall We just visited the Cheers to Cheese exhibit at EPCOT, and all we can say is that, yep, we STILL really love cheese. Cheers to Cheese is an interactive exhibit where you can explore the history of cheese and learn a lot of fun facts about this delicious dairy concoction. You’ll find the exhibit in CommuniCore Hall from September 18th through November 8th. An exhibit…all about cheese? Say no more! We are SO there. So, yes, we visited Cheers to Cheese, and we’re taking you with us. Cheers to Cheese at CommuniCore Hall Walking in, you’re immediately hit with visuals and smells of cheese! There are so many exhibits to check out with facts about cheese, its history, fun games, and more! Step inside with us! But first, let’s take a look at the space! There are cheese slices hanging from the ceiling (don’t worry, it’s not actually cheese)… Look at those slices! … and tables that look like cheese! This is also where you’ll find one of the food booths, The Wedge! The Wedge The walls are also decorated with all kinds of cheeses! Look at all of those cheeses! Moving on to the exhibits, we have the Age of Cheese station, which shares the history of cheese and its journey around the world! The Age of Cheese The Spread of Cheese section talks about how different cheese-pressing and aging methods made their way to Europe, and it took no time for cheese to spread throughout the continent thanks to the Roman soldiers. The Spread of Cheese The Prehistoric Cheese section takes us back to over 10,000 years ago when cheese was created…accidentally! This section takes you through ancient China, ancient Egypt, and Greek mythology. Prehistoric Cheese And then, cheese came to America! This gives guests insight into how important cheese was in America as, by the 1840s, the country was home to a booming cheese industry, specifically in Wisconsin! Cheese Comes to America Dive even more into the history of cheese in America with the American Cheestory section, which takes you from the early 1600s all the way to today! The American Cheestory There is also an exhibit to show how cheese is made because — as the sign says — cheese doesn’t just magically appear in your refrigerator (although, I really wish it did). It takes you from the cows to the cheese caves and eventually to the grocery stores! A look into how cheese is made Can’t decide which cheese you want to try? Then you can spin a wheel to help you figure out which cheese is best for you! The wheel gives you options from soft cheeses all the way to hard cheeses, and it gives descriptions of each cheese. Spin that wheel! Another fun thing to do is match different cheeses with other foods to find perfect pairings! The top spinner will give you a type of cheese while the bottom spinners will either give you something sweet, something savory, or something crunchy. Take some pictures and try it back at home! Try it back home! You can also participate in the Cheese of the Day! Choose from 10 different cheeses on the board and slide one of the wheels from left to right to vote for your favorite! At the end of the day, you can return to the board and see which one won! Cheese of the day! Also, in CommuniCore Hall, you can find a small souvenir shop. This shop includes Food and Wine Festival exclusive merchandise, so it’s a great stop to find something to take home! However, not every piece of merchandise can be found here, so you may have to visit Creations Shop for more. The Gift Shop Speaking of cheese, if you do happen to visit the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival, be sure to participate in Emile’s Frontage Montage, a cheese crawl that lets you sample five cheese-based dishes from a list you’ll find inside your festival passport. Once you’ve ordered one of the cheese-based dishes, you’ll get a stamp in the passport. Get five stamps, and you can turn in your passport for a prize. This year’s prize is a mix of Key Lime DOLE Whip with cheesecake soft serve. Emile’s Fromage Montage Finisher Prize We’ll keep an eye out for more EPCOT Food & Wine Festival news, so stay tuned to DFB for more. 6. Currently under construction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, partially in the area that was once DinoLand U.S.A. and partially expanding into a former backstage area, Tropical Americas is rising in Animal Kingdom. Puebla Esperanza model After several years of hints, concept art, and general descriptions, Disney finally dropped the major details of the land at August’s D23 Ultimate fan event, and this is EVERYTHING that’s been confirmed so far! The heart of the land will be the fictional South American village of Pueblo Esperanza. @bioreconstruct Pueblo Esperanza will be headlined by an Encanto attraction titled Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto, a themed ride-through experience where guests will enter Madrigal Casita and join Antonio, who has just received his special gift: the ability to communicate with animals. ©Disney The ride will have NO height requirement, will feature the film’s original voice cast returning, and will be home to 50 different animal Animatronics. ©@bioreconstruct Pueblo Esperanza’s other high-profile attraction will be an Indiana Jones attraction replacing the former DINOSAUR ride. ©Disney Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent will be set in the 1950’s in a South American temple where Indy finds a passageway that leads to the Mayan underworld. ©@bioreconstruct Once you get sucked into the portal to the underworld, you’re in an all-out chase to escape before time runs out, dealing with bats, scorpions, fire, and of course, SNAKES, including a GIANT one. LOOK HOW BIG! On top of all that, for the first time, Harrison Ford’s likeness will be used for the Indiana Jones Animatronic! Finally, as far as rides go, the land will also be rounded out by El Carrusel de los Animalitos, which translates to The Little Animals’ Carousel. The ride will feature 22 distinct Disney characters as options to ride, including Heimlich from A Bug’s Life, Pua from Moana, and Kevin from Up. The carousel In addition to these attractions, the land will also feature a quick-service restaurant that Disney has called one of the biggest on property, as well as a playground, replacing Restaurantosaurus and the Boneyard, respectively, both of which were lost when DinoLand closed. The new town Pueblo Esperanza will be situated in Tropical Americas land coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The town features classic Spanish-style architecture in the heart of the rainforest. Tropical Americas — with its rides, dining, and intricately themed village of Pueblo Esperanza — is set to open in 2027. Stay tuned to DFB for further updates on the land coming to Animal Kingdom. 8. I can’t believe we’re already talking about Christmas, but I guess it’s time, since Disney has already started announcing all sorts of things about this holiday season at Disney World…and some things are being taken away. 2024 Grand Floridian Gingerbread House We don’t want you to be met with any surprises during your holiday vacation to Disney World, so we’re letting you know EVERYTHING that’s been canceled this Christmas on property. But don’t worry, there is still SO much to enjoy! Everything That Has Been Canceled The Grand Floridian Gingerbread House Earlier this year, Disney announced that the Grand Floridian’s famous gingerbread house (like, literally the size of a house) would not return this year. This tradition began in 1999, so we were devastated to hear that this holiday decoration would not be available for the first time in over 25 years (with the exception of it not being available last year due to construction in the lobby). 2024 Grand Floridian Gingerbread House The Dreamlights on Cinderella Castle While it hasn’t been offered since the 2019 holiday season, the Dreamlights on Cinderella Castle was a beloved experience. Disney would drape thousands of tiny lights on the Magic Kingdom icon so it could be lit up at night to look like a shimmering palace! Since its closure in 2019, Disney has been using different projections instead. So, while the original has been canceled, Disney still helps you get in the holiday spirit with the rest of the lighting and decor. Cinderella Castle Dream Lights 2018 The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights This holiday offering was less canceled and more… Demolished. The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights took place on the Streets of America during the holiday season. Lights would be strung on all of the buildings and would light up in sync as they flashed to holiday music. Its last season was 2015, as the Streets of America closed in April of 2016 for the construction of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights EPCOT’s Lights of Winter This holiday display became a tradition for many since its debut in 1994. The display featured a HUGE illuminated canopy on the walkway between Future World and World Showcase Plaza. Like the Osborne Lights, there were lights synchronized to music for guests to watch and enjoy. However, there were some operational challenges and aging infrastructure that came with this tradition, which eventually led Disney to retire EPCOT’s Lights of Winter after the 2008 holiday season. Lights of Winter What You Can Still Enjoy Gingerbread Displays At Other Resorts While the big gingerbread house may not be available at the Grand Floridian, you can still see smaller displays around several other resorts! The Grand Floridian itself will feature a few smaller displays scattered throughout the hotel, and they will still be made by Disney’s culinary team. Disney has yet to announce what they are doing with the gingerbread displays in other resorts, but we expect displays like the gingerbread carousel… 2025 Beach Club Carousel …and the gingerbread castle to return. We’ll keep you updated with any information released about these holiday displays. Contemporary Resort Gingerbread Display 2025 EPCOT’s International Festival of the Holidays The 2026 festival will run from Friday, November 27th (the day after Thanksgiving) and last through December 30th. During this festival, guests can indulge in many different cuisines from around the world, experience various traditions from a number of cultures, and learn more about what each country does during the holiday via live entertainment and storytelling. Holiday Storytellers! The Candlelight Processional As a part of the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays, the Candlelight Processional takes place each night at 5 PM, 6:45 PM, and 8:15 PM. Each night, a celebrity narrator shares the story of Christmas accompanied by a 50-piece orchestra and choir, which is composed of a Disney Cast Member choir along with an ever-changing group of guest choirs from around the country. Some of the celebrities featured this year include Neil Patrick Harris, Ralph Macchio, Jodi Benson, and more! Candlelight Processional Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party This is a separately ticketed event in the Magic Kingdom filled with themed treats, exclusive character meet-and-greets, a Christmas parade and fireworks, complimentary cookies, hot cocoa, and eggnog, and more! This year, the Party will take place on select nights from November 8th through December 22nd from 7 PM to 12 AM, but guests with a valid ticket can enter starting at 4 PM. Mickey and Minnie in Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration Jollywood Nights Jollywood Nights is also a separately ticketed event, but this time in Hollywood Studios. As part of the event, guests can view the Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! nighttime fireworks and projection spectacular, enjoy exclusive treats, meet OVER 20 rare characters, and more! 9. Disney’s entertainment industry has been flourishing with several major box office hits just this year, such as Hoppers and Toy Story 5, and they continue to be popular when they hit Disney+. ©Pixar Last month, Disney mentioned a restructuring of its Consumer Products Division, and we’ve got some movement! Several major changes occurred within Disney Entertainment’s leadership team recently, with one person taking on an entirely new role! Beginning with the former Co-President of Direct-to-Consumer and Chief Product & Technology Officer for Disney Entertainment and ESPN, Adam Smith has been appointed Disney Entertainment’s Chairman of Direct-To-Consumer (DTC). As Chairman, Smith will be responsible for the company’s Subscription Video On Demand (SVOD) business globally. This includes, but is not limited to, driving strategy, development, and continued innovation across the company’s streaming platforms, proprietary advertising technology, and emerging technologies. ©Disney He will also oversee product, engineering, advertising technology, programming strategy, viewer experience, partnerships, and data and analytics of Disney+ and Hulu. When appointing Smith, Dana Walden, President & Chief Creative Officer of The Walt Disney Company, expressed her excitement, saying, “Alan Bergman and I are pleased to recognize the tremendous impact he has had on our direct-to-consumer business since he joined Disney, and we are confident that he is the right leader to meet the critical moment we’re in and take us to the next level.” ©Disney Joe Earley, who was the former Co-President for Direct-to-Consumer and head of content strategy, has been appointed to a new role — the newly created role of President of Disney Entertainment Television Franchise and Content Strategy. This role will “lead the strategic development of Disney Entertainment Television franchises, maximizing their value and creating new opportunities to engage audiences and drive the business forward.” ©Disney Earley will oversee all content and production for international originals, production, labor relations, and creative talent development. Walden also spoke highly of Earley when she named him to the role, saying, “He is a talented executive with a rare combination of business acumen and creative instincts, and Debra OConnell and I could not be more excited to welcome him to the leadership team at Disney Entertainment Television.” ©Disney We’re excited to see what Smith and Earley accomplish in their new roles! 10. Disney has filed a new construction permit for one of the Magic Kingdom’s oldest attractions: The Enchanted Tiki Room. Let’s go in the tiki tiki tiki tiki tiki room! Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room, an East Coast take on the classic Disneyland animatronic show located in the Magic Kingdom’s Adventureland, is set to see some construction, according to the latest permit Disney has filed with the Orange County, Florida, Comptroller’s Office. The permit provides for “labor, material, and electrical” construction work at an address that matches up with the Tiki Room building. The listed contractor for the work is the Buena Vista Construction Company, Disney’s in-house construction company. Enchanted Tiki Room While this project doesn’t seem too in-depth, Disney fans can’t be blamed for being a bit antsy any time they think about construction on the Tiki Room. After all, in the late 1990s, Disney decided that the Disney World version of the Walt-era classic — which had been known as the Tropical Serenade since opening day — needed a makeover. The new take on the show, which opened in April of 1998, was known as The Enchanted Tiki Room (Under New Management), and featured Iago and Zazu (from Aladdin and The Lion King, respectively) “taking over” the show from the original Tiki birds, and running afoul (or I guess “a fowl”) of Uh-Oa, the Tiki Goddess of Disaster. ©Disney The show was, uh, certainly something. Iago and Zazu, lovable as they are in their respective films, didn’t fit with the show, and it didn’t help that so much of their dialogue was written to take potshots at the classic show. To put it mildly, the new version was unpopular among Disney fans. However, it ran until 2011, when a fire destroyed the Iago animatronic and forced the show to close. In a move that was greatly appreciated by many, Disney reverted the show to something much more akin to the original version during the post-fire refurbishment. Tiki Room! A new construction permit indicates work is coming to Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room, though it certainly doesn’t seem likely that Iago and Zazu are coming with it. Stay tuned to DFB for more on Disney’s latest construction permits. 10 Restaurants Now Break Walt Disney’s Number One Rule for Magic Kingdom Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! 11. There are a couple of ways to hack long lines for Disney World rides, including purchasing Lightning Lane Multi Pass or Lightning Lane Single Pass, which allows you to bypass long standby lines for shorter Lightning Lanes. However, if you’re visiting Disney World by yourself, there’s also the Single Rider line option, which puts you in a separate line and then fills the ride with single riders so that every ride vehicle is run at capacity. Everest Single Rider Line Generally speaking, the single rider line can often save you a LOT of waiting, but we’ve got some bad news about the option at one attraction in Disney’s Animal Kingdom: the single rider line at Expedition Everest will be going away soon. As of September 21st, the single rider line option at Expedition Everest will go away forever. Now, this news isn’t a HUGE surprise. Back in May, Disney began experimenting with how it loaded the ride. Previously, when you reached the end of the line, Cast Members would assign you a row and then have single riders fill the gap. However, Disney started experimenting with pre-sorting guests in the final section of the queue into even and odd groups, allowing ride vehicles to be loaded more efficiently. Expedition Everest queue Disney continued to utilize this system, which meant that fewer single riders were getting called fewer times, and the single rider line began moving slower. We pretty much figured this could eventually mean the end of the single rider line, and it turns out that we were right. Expedition Everest entrance The new loading process for Expedition Everest was so successful in lowering wait times that the single rider line no longer offered the experience that Disney World visitors expect from single rider lines. So the single rider line will be removed, as will all single rider signs at the attraction. Single Rider signs will be removed However, Disney stresses that the single rider option at other select rides still offers a useful tool to help Cast Members fill the remaining seats in ride vehicles that aren’t occupied by folks using standby lines or Lightning Lanes. So it will remain in place at other attractions. Single Rider Line at Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure We’ll keep an eye out for other changes in Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for more. 16. Disneyland Paris has been going through a sort of Renaissance. Walt Disney Studios Park recently changed its name to Disney Adventure World with a brand new look, new lands, new rides, and more. ©Disneyland Paris But even more work is also being done at the resort at Disney Village, which is getting a complete makeover. The shopping and dining district is undergoing a MASSIVE refurbishment, but it’s almost done with its first phase of work, and Disneyland Paris has announced some opening and reopening dates for its shops and restaurants. Over the past few years, Disney Village has been undergoing a massive reimagining that includes touching up and redesigning building façades, adding new shops, and adding new restaurants. Speaking of shops, a brand NEW shop called Disney Wonders will be opening on September 22nd. This boutique will feature artwork inspired by Star Wars, Peter Pan, and Toy Story. The storytelling continues with two chandeliers hanging overhead with more than 40 character illustrations, as well as the checkout areas celebrating Disney and Pixar. ©Disneyland Paris Disney Wonders will join existing Disney Village shops Deco by Disney, Disney Glamour, Disney Style, World of Disney, the LEGO Store, Pelé Soccer, and more. ©Disneyland Paris Of course, we’re even MORE interested in the new restaurant coming to Disney Village, Casa Giulia, which will offer an Italian dining experience. The restaurant will feature two levels and a menu of Italian favorites, cocktails, and more. There will also be a to-go experience called Giulia Express where you can grab pizza by the slice, focaccia, pastries, and gelato. Casa Giulia and Giulia Express will open at the end of 2026. ©Disneyland Paris The restaurant Vapiano will undergo a full refurbishment at the end of 2026, with a design that will be brighter, more contemporary, and with more natural lighting. Disneyland Paris is also updating its terrace spaces and landscaping, plus it will have a children’s play area on the upper level. The work is expected to be completed in early 2027. ©Disney Annette’s Diner has also been given an extensive refurbishment with a refreshed 1950s theme, with colorful booths inspired by vintage cars, restored jukeboxes, new decor, and a refreshed dining room. The restaurant is expected to reopen in 2027. ©Disneyland Paris Other restaurants in Disney Village include Brasserie Rosalie, Sports Bar & Lounge (which reopened last year), Billy Bob’s Country Western Bar, Five Guys, and more. ©Disneyland Paris The Disney Village cinema is becoming Pathé Cinema theater and will get a major refurbishment in 2027. This will include entirely renovated auditoriums with recliner seats, projection system upgrades, a new Pathé Café, more food and beverages, a newly redesigned Häagen-Dazs with an outdoor terrace, and a new Pathé Games area. The work will take place in phases, so the theater will remain open while construction work is being done. ©Disneyland Paris Disney Enchanted Christmas is coming to Disney Village later this year, with new seasonal decor like Christmas trees, holiday lighting, and new photo locations. A new interactive holiday activity is also coming to Disney Village: you’ll be looking for characters hidden within giant snowflakes throughout the shopping and dining district. Spot them all and get an exclusive holiday ornament! ©Disneyland Paris As the first phase of Disney Village’s reimagining finishes, the next phase will begin in the “South Block” part of the area, which will include new architecture, refreshed experiences, and new offerings. 17. When it comes to Disney World tips, there are A LOT out there from many different sources. From experts like our team, who are in the parks every single day, all the way to anonymous posters on Reddit. Disney World Speaking of Reddit, we scrolled through hundreds of posts to find some… interesting Disney tips that varied from “How did we never think of that?” to “Um, no thanks.” Use the Rainforest Cafe Entrance at Animal Kingdom Many guests are aware that there’s a Rainforest Cafe restaurant located just outside Disney’s Animal Kingdom. However, as several Redditors pointed out, the restaurant also features a “secret” entrance into the park. Guests can head through the gift shop and out into a courtyard with its own entrance turnstiles and security. We’d recommend grabbing breakfast at the restaurant if you plan on using this entrance early in the day. Rainforest Cafe at Animal Kingdom Attach Carabiners to Your Backpack This Redditor’s advice — to attach carabiners to your backpack to carry extra shopping bags while keeping your hands free — may initially seem sensible, and admittedly it likely could work with one shopping bag. However, the more you attach, the more unwieldy the situation could become. The bags could rip; they could swing around and inadvertently hit other guests, and having too many on your backpack could make it harder to maneuver through crowds and ride queues. Crowds entering EPCOT Carry-On Advice Another Redditor suggested an interesting approach they and their partner take to the final day of their Disney World vacation. They wrote, “To save money on hotels by staying one less night, my wife and I pack 1 carry-on each, and then on our last day we check out of the hotel before we head to the parks. We then rent the largest locker and put our luggage in there. This way we can spend a whole day in a park and then get our luggage and Uber straight to the airport. Cool way to get an extra day of rides in while not paying for a hotel an extra night.” Lockers It’s an interesting approach to squeezing a bit of extra time out of Disney World on one’s departure day. Members of our team have done something similar in the past. However, instead of leaving our bags in the lockers — which seems like it would be a tight fit — we left them with luggage services at our hotel, then picked them up before heading to the airport. But if you are looking to take your luggage to the parks and it doesn’t fit in a locker, you can always leave it with the Cast Members at the Stroller/Wheelchair/ECV station. Luggage Services queue at All-Star Movies Take Care of Your Feet Several Redditors dropped advice on taking care of their feet, which admittedly do tend to get a bit beaten up during a trip to the “Most Magical Place on Earth.” One wrote that they “KT tape the backs of my heels and the bottoms of my feet. No more blisters or socks rubbing weird or any of those issues.” KT or Kinesio Tape is a thin, stretchy cotton strip used to support muscles and joints, reduce pain, and decrease swelling without limiting movement. It can often be seen on professional athletes. Another wrote of a post-park day ritual, saying they “pack bath bombs and treat my feet to a soak every night.” Honestly, we can’t argue with either of these given how integral foot health is to a Disney World trip. Bath bomb Video Preview One Redditor recommended that others should, “Show your kid ride videos and park videos ahead of time. They don’t need to be surprised to have a great time, and the prep can really help them not be nervous. Remember that excitement and anxiety are very similar emotions.” This is definitely advice that we’d take on a case-by-case basis. It may definitely be beneficial for some kids, while for others it may mean little to nothing, or even be a detriment to their trip. It really depends on their personality. Tower of Terror As we scoured Reddit for Disney hacks, we found some surprisingly useful ones… and some we’d probably advise sidestepping. Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney World tips. 18. Disney Cast Members are well-trained to work with guests who have disabilities, particularly those who are in wheelchairs or scooters. However, it’s still quite a process to transfer those guests from their mobility devices to a ride, although there are systems in place to make that transition as smooth as possible. Wheelchair entrance at Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin However, what if it were even easier to get guests in wheelchairs and scooters on rides? Well, Disney recently filed a new patent that could allow wheelchairs and scooters to load onto rides without needing to transfer the guest, and this could be a big game-changer for guests with mobility challenges. The patent, which was filed in 2025, is for a “Rider Inclusive Transport Aide” that would add a platform to a boat ride vehicle configured to receive wheelchairs and scooters. The platform would stay flat and level to the ground or water beneath it as the vehicle tilts. This would keep the wheelchair or scooter…or even a stroller…from tipping when the ride vehicle rocks during loading. ©U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Disney’s boat ride vehicles tend to have higher sides than other ride vehicles without doors, so it’s hard to load guests with wheelchairs and scooters from the side. This means that guests must be loaded from the upper edge of the boat, which can be challenging. Frozen Ever After boat However, this technology would have a platform attached to each boat that would remain level with the water even when the boat tilts up for loading. Then a guest could just move their wheelchair or scooter directly onto the platform and into the boat. Easy-peasy, right? Here are some figures that show how that would work: ©U.S. Patent and Trademark Office The boat would then have something like locks or straps to hold the wheelchair or scooter in place. There are also grooves that would help Cast Members position the mobility device on the boat. Now, the thing to remember is that patents get filed ALL the time, and the technology described in them may or may not get used. However, Disney is in the process of building several new boat rides, including a new Coco ride in Disneyland. This new ride, and others to follow it, could potentially put this technology in place to make loading guests with disabilities even easier for everyone involved. ©Disney We’ll keep an eye out for more Disney news, so stay tuned to DFB for more. 19. The U.S. State Department has issued additional travel advisories for multiple countries. Grab your passport! Travel advisories are typically issued when there are warnings about events in countries that travelers need to heed. These new travel advisories do not directly impact Disney vacation destinations, but they could still be worth knowing about for any travel plans you might have in the near future. New travel advisories have been issued for multiple destinations, with the U.S. State Department urging caution for those traveling to these countries. A Level 2 alert was issued for Cambodia on September 15th due to crime, unrest, and unexploded ordnance. There are some areas in the country that are currently at a Level 4 alert. ©State Dept Also on September 15th, a Level 3 alert was issued for Saudi Arabia. According to the State Department, this is due to the risk of Iranian drones and missiles targeting American travelers, along with armed conflict, terrorism, and exit bans. A Level 2 alert was issued on September 10th for Italy due to risks of terrorist violence as well. Italy pavilion at EPCOT For reference, below are the different levels the State Department uses as part of these travel advisories: Level 1 – Exercise normal precautions: This is the lowest advisory level for safety and security risks. There is some risk in any international travel, and conditions in other countries may differ from those in the United States. Level 2 – Exercise increased caution: Be aware of increased risks to safety and security. Specific risks are described in the Travel Advisory. Level 3 – Reconsider travel: Reconsider your travel to the destination due to serious risks to safety and security. Specific risks are described in the Travel Advisory. Level 4 – Do not travel: This is the highest advisory level due to life-threatening risks. Specific risks are described in the Travel Advisory. The U.S. government may have very limited or no ability to help, including during an emergency. We advise that U.S. citizens do not travel to the country, or to leave as soon as it is safe to do so. ©US Department of State The U.S. Department of State previously issued a worldwide travel warning for Americans, urging citizens to exercise increased caution, especially in the SWANA (Southwest Asia and North Africa) region, also known as the Middle East. If you are planning a trip to any of these countries, it is always a good idea to check for travel advisories issued by the Department of State. 24. Traveling is about to get even more complicated. Let’s fly! In the midst of rising fuel prices, not only is airfare getting more expensive, but airlines have started cutting flights in an effort to offset fuel costs. American Airlines, United Airlines, and Southwest Airlines have all scaled back planned flight schedules to try and counter the increased cost of jet fuel, according to USA Today. The U.S. airline industry has been leaning into tighter capacity, resilient demand, and higher fares to try to absorb the increased fuel costs since the Iran war began. Southwest Airlines Executives at all three carriers said that despite an increase in airfare prices, demand still remained strong, which has helped them offset much of the higher cost of jet fuel. However, this latest jump in fuel prices has prompted them to cut less-profitable routes later this year and possibly into 2027. ©United Airlines American Airlines said the latest increase in fuel prices was adding about $1 billion to its fourth-quarter costs, and United Airlines said some flights planned for December would no longer be operating. Additional adjustments could follow in the first quarter and into 2027. American Airlines Plane Southwest shared that it had cut its 2026 capacity growth about in half already due to higher fuel prices and would continue to trim them further if the fuel costs remained elevated. Southwest Planes at Orlando International Airport So, it’s not only increased airfare costs we have to worry about, but now, there’s potential that travelers will no longer have as many choices when it comes to flights and routes. The response from the airlines shows they will remove flights when costs rise. All three carriers’ shares have fallen over the past month as fuel prices have increased. American and United are down around 14% and 15%, respectively, and Southwest has lost about 11%. American Airlines Plane If fuel costs remain high, it’s possible that even more routes will be cut. With holiday travel around the corner, this is definitely something to keep an eye on for those who are planning to make trips around the holidays. Check out more air travel news at the links below!
