The construction and closure news isn’t slowing down around Disney World, and it’s our job to keep you updated through it all. Vacation Fun Disney announced pretty last-minute that two new closures are hitting Disney World, so if you’re traveling this week, it’s important to know about them. Now, there is a brand new spot in Disney Springs that just opened up, and we do have an update on two existing projects, which we’re thrilled about — we love balance! Starting with the great news first, Six Ravens officially opened in Disney Springs this past week, and we’ve got a feeling it’s going to be VERY popular. We also saw that Disney is taking the chance to update the roof of the Das Kaufhaus building in EPCOT’s Germany Pavilion while the other construction is going on in the pavilion. So far, it’s blending in pretty well with the other colors around the pavilion, and we’re glad all the work is seemingly being done at once. Roof Construction Let’s take a look at all the current closures taking place in Disney World from August 7th through August 14th. Magic Kingdom Carousel of Progress Carousel of Progress closed on July 6th to undergo a major refurbishment. The work will include completely revamping the scenes in the attraction to make them more modern and represent more recent parts of history, as well as adding a new Walt Disney animatronic at the opening. ©Disney Currently, the attraction is set to reopen in 2027, though no official date has been set yet. Big Top Souvenirs Big Top Souvenirs closed on February 20th, and Disney has said it’ll “reopen for guests to enjoy later this year,” but there’s no date in sight. When we stopped by recently, we saw that the big top has FINALLY been added back to the shop, which is a relief! The tent is back! We’re really curious to see how this all turns out, so we’ll keep you updated! Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island An iconic part of the Magic Kingdom is now permanently closed. As of July 7th, 2025, the Rivers of America, including the Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island, are permanently closed to make way for the new Cars area, Piston Peak. There are lots of construction walls up in the area now, and the structures on Tom Sawyer Island have been demolished. Most recently, we saw a new addition to one of the old boat docks, as a shed-like structure has now been added to the boat dock near Memento Mori. A new building? Piston Peak National Park will be replacing this area of the Magic Kingdom. Disney has not yet announced an opening date for the new Cars area, but we do know it will feature two brand-new attractions and be themed to look like a National Park. REVIEW: Getting A Dining Reservation at This Magic Kingdom Spot Might Be Worth It Just For These Halloween Eats! Disney’s Hollywood Studios Vacation Fun Disney announced that Vacation Fun will be closing for the second time this year on Sunday, August 9th. So far, no reopening date has been announced. Vacation Fun The first time this attraction closed this year was on April 29th for a special May 4th Star Wars merchandise event. (Parts of) Animation Courtyard Animation Courtyard closed on September 25th, 2025, to make way for Walt Disney Studios. The courtyard area, new Disney Jr. show, and meet-and-greet station for Sofia the First and SuperKitties officially opened on May 26th. Star Wars Launch Bay will be turned into The Magic of Disney Animation. This attraction will have you interacting and exploring with this fun take on Disney Animation headquarters, complete with the return of the Sorcerer Mickey hat! The Magic of Disney Animation in Walt Disney Studios This area will also feature a new Drawn to Wonderland indoor play area that we can’t wait to see! Now, we know the rest of The Walt Disney Studios will open on September 14th. Muppets Courtyard Muppet*Vision 3D and PizzeRizzo closed on June 8th, 2025, and Muppets Courtyard has been walled off for construction on the new Monsters, Inc. land. Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano has been closed since May 11th, 2025. Most recently, Disney released new information about Monstropolis, saying that “Monstropolis — the monster city now powered by laughter — is getting ready to give humans a glimpse of what’s been hidden from their world for generations. Which raises an interesting question: if humans were never meant to enter the monster world … why are the doors finally opening to us?” ©Disney We’ll get to explore their world during H.U.M.A.N. Day, or “Humans Understand Monsters Are Nice” Day, with Disney continuing to say, “Human guests will have the chance to explore the city, meet its citizens, taste unique cuisine, and step into the everyday world of monsters in a totally new way. For the first time, two worlds once separated are meeting face to scaly, furry, and fang-filled face – brought together not by screams, but by laughter.” ©Disney It’s also been fully confirmed that Harryhausen’s will be one of the restaurants in the new land, which we’re beyond excited to experience. Most recently, we saw teeth arrive at the top of what used to be PizzeRizzo, meaning new theming elements are actively beginning to go in! Those teeth! If you’re missing The Muppets, you can go visit them at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets right now! NEW Permit Filed For a Popular Ride at Disney’s Hollywood Studios EPCOT La Signature La Signature, one of the stores located in the France Pavilion, closed for refurbishment on June 30th. La Signature closed The store specializes in French cosmetics and fragrances from Guerlain. During the closure, if you’re looking to buy Guerlain products, they’ll be temporarily available at the nearby Plume Et Palette. Sections of Germany Pavilion On July 13th, both the guest bathrooms in the Germany Pavilion and the majority of the Volkskunst store in EPCOT’s Germany Pavilion closed for refurbishment. The roof of Das Kaufhaus is also under refurbishment. Totally closed While a Cast Member did tell us the store closure was to fix the Cast Member bathrooms out of sight, Disney has not revealed a reopening date for the store or the public bathrooms. EPCOT’s Most ICONIC Ride Is Getting…A TV Show? Disney’s Animal Kingdom DinoLand, USA On February 2nd, DinoLand, USA, officially closed to make way for the new Tropical Americas land, Pueblo Esperanza. Most recently, we noticed that large cranes are in the area to adjust the roofs of existing buildings, likely to keep them in theme. Lots of work! We can also see lots of work happening at the front of the new Indiana Jones ride! Recently, Disney revised the permit they filed last August for this ride, and the new Notice of Commencement permit renews the installation through April 2027. via @bioreconstruct This new land is shaping up nicely! It will have three new rides – a carousel featuring classic Disney animals, an Indiana Jones ride where you’ll explore a Mayan temple, and an Encanto ride that invites you into the Madrigals’ home. We can’t wait to continue to see how it all shapes up. FIRST LOOK At The Entrance For One Of Disney World’s NEWEST Lands! Disney World Hotels Boat Dock — Disney’s Old Key West Resort Starting on July 20th, Disney closed the boat transportation at Old Key West Resort, called the Sassagoula River Cruise. These boats usually go to Disney Springs, so now, you’ll need to take a bus instead. Old Key West Dock Right now, the closure is expected to last through early August. Boat Dock — Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Starting on May 11th, the Boat Dock at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort became unavailable for guests to use due to refurbishment. The dock is closed! Boat transportation was unavailable through June 5th, but has now reopened. Construction on the dock as a whole was set to continue through late June, but has now continued into July. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa This hotel has been undergoing refurbishments for quite some time now, but some sections of the hotel — specifically the porte cochere — will continue to undergo refurbishment through at least early 2027. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort We certainly hope it’ll actually reopen on this timeline — we’re a little tired of seeing construction all over this beautiful hotel! Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort Currently, work is taking place all over Bay Lake Tower through Late 2027. Bay Lake Tower While currently no major closures are taking place due to this construction, it’s important to note that you may see or hear construction during your stay. Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort For those looking to dine at this hotel, you need to know that the Turf Club Bar & Grill and Turf Club Lounge will both be under refurbishment from mid-March through mid-September 2026. Turf Club Bar & Grill In early April, the Turf Club Lounge closed for refurbishment and will reopen in early August. In the meantime, the Turf Club Bar & Grill will remain open with a pop-up bar serving a modified Lounge food and beverage menu. Then, from early to mid-August, the Turf Club patio will close for refurbishment, and finally, from mid-August through mid-September, the Turf Club Bar & Grill will be closed for refurbishment, but the Turf Club Lounge will be open. Leisure Pools — Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and Disney’s Beach Club Resort Disney’s Yacht Club and Disney’s Beach Club Resort are currently undergoing visible exterior maintenance. The maintenance could affect views and may require alternate routes at times. In addition, two of the resort’s leisure pools will close for routine maintenance. Tidal Pool At Disney’s Yacht Club, the Admiral leisure pool will be closed for maintenance through early May 2026. At Disney’s Beach Club, the Tidal leisure pool will be closed for maintenance through early May 2026. Guests may see or hear construction work, but it will only be done during the daytime hours. Yachtsman Steakhouse — Disney’s Yacht Club Resort On May 11th, Yachtsman Steakhouse officially closed for refurbishment. Yachtsman Steakhouse Recently, it was revealed that reservations for this restaurant are now available beginning on August 28th! Promenade Fine Art Gallery — Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and Resort It was recently announced that the Village Green area of Disney’s BoardWalk Inn will be closed from August 10th through September 4th. This is an outdoor space where you can usually watch Movie Under The Stars, do yoga, attend arts and crafts classes, and more. Disney’s Boardwalk Inn The Promenade Fine Art Gallery closed its Disney’s BoardWalk location on October 20th, 2025. However, the Promenade Fine Art Gallery isn’t closing for good, and it will just be moving to a new location. Promenade Fine Art Gallery Disney just filed permits for the BoardWalk titled “Project Amazon” and “Project Bubbles” earlier this year, and now that we have a bit more information on them, we’re thinking that this currently vacant spot could soon become the home of the new Basin on the BoardWalk store on its way! The shop will be rooted in the resort’s classic boardwalk heritage and will offer a sensory shopping experience that is described as “both timeless and distinctly new.” Jellyrolls — Disney’s BoardWalk Jellyrolls at Disney’s BoardWalk officially closed on April 19th, 2025. This entertainment venue has provided our team with countless memories, and we know many others are also sad to see it close. Jellyrolls had its final farewell performance on April 19th. 2025 and closed its doors forever on Disney’s BoardWalk. It was just recently revealed, though, that a new lounge will be coming to the BoardWalk! ©Disney The new lounge will be called Hurly-Burly and will be a “fun-filled afternoons and glamorous evenings inside a historic seaside theatre with a vibrant BoardWalk story that spans over a century.” Based on the concept art revealed, it’s looking like the former JellyRolls building would be the best fit for this spot, but we’re also waiting to see where the new quick-service restaurant announced for the BoardWalk will be going! 3 NEW Restaurants Announced For Disney World Hotel We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all the latest Disney World news, so stay tuned to DFB! Disneyland just released all of its Halloween menus this week, but there’s one holiday we’re still patiently waiting for: Día de los Muertos! Plaza de la Familia 2025 Disney teased that Plaza de la Familia, a Día de los Muertos celebration at Disney California Adventure, is coming back this year. After months of teasing Halloween fun, we finally got a sneak peek at the Day of the Dead festivities! Disney announced that two new food items are coming to Plaza de la Familia this year. The Nuez Gelatina Cake is a cinnamon sponge cake with pecan gelatina and whipped topping. It’s available starting August 18th at Paradise Garden Grill. ©Disney The Marigold Margarita is a wine-based lime margarita garnished with a marigold and an orange sugar rim, available starting August 18th at Paradise Garden Grill. ©Disney The Chilaquiles Carnitas Torta is returning this year. This is red chilaquiles, refried beans, avocado spread, queso fresco, pickled red onions, and a fried egg, served with chips. It’s also available starting August 18th at Paradise Garden Grill. Chilaquiles Carnitas Torta from Paradise Garden Grill And for a Día de los Muertos souvenir, you can get this new, limited-edition Coco Lantern Sipper featuring Miguel and Héctor. There’s a limit of two per person, per transaction, and no discounts apply. Calling all runDisney fans! We’ve got some great news about new races, and you won’t even have to leave your house for them! ©Disney If you’ve been hoping for a way to participate in a runDisney race this Halloween season, we’ve just gotten new details on the NEW runDisney Virtual Spooktacular. Registration is opening up sooner than you think, so make sure you’re prepared! The runDisney Virtual Spooktacular Challenge is a brand new event this year, and as it’s a virtual race, that means it takes place entirely from home — no need to book a trip to Disney World, which can help save a lot of money. There will be three different races that you can complete between October 1st and October 31st, making it a great way to ease into runDisney races. The cost is $185 for the races, and registration will open on August 11th at 10 AM EST. ©Disney The 3-mile race is the runDisney Dig & Dash, and the medal even lights up! ©Disney The second race is the 4-miler, which is called the Headless Horseman Pursuit. This medal also lights up, but also features audio! ©Disney Finally, you’ve got the 6-mile run, which is called the Eternal Waltz. This medal features Constance from the Haunted Mansion and comes with an Infinity Mirror. ©Disney You’ll also receive the 2026 Virtual Spooktacular Challenge medal for completing all three races. Construction is practically everywhere you look in Disney World, whether you’re hanging around the parks or the hotels, and that’s not going away anytime soon. Waterfall in EPCOT’s Canada Pavilion EPCOT is the park with the least amount of construction right now, as it’s the only park that doesn’t have an entire new land under construction. That doesn’t mean the walls don’t exist, though. Walls are up in Germany currently to fix the public restrooms, as well as the Cast Member bathrooms backstage (and we’re really hoping it’ll finally mean the pavilion doesn’t smell like sewage every now and then), but now, walls have been added in Canada, and we’re actually feeling pretty annoyed about it. When we stopped into EPCOT the other day, we noticed we couldn’t get back to our favorite part of the pavilion, which is the beautiful waterfall at the very back. Lots of people who don’t choose to explore the EPCOT pavilions don’t know this is back here, but if you’re looking for a place to step away from the crowds and really feel like you’re seeing the beauty of Canada for a moment, this is the place to go. It’s stunning! Currently, there are walls up in Canada that prevent you from getting to the back of the pavilion. It’s unclear what these walls are for or what construction/refurbishment is going on, but regardless, you won’t be able to see the waterfall for now. Disney didn’t announce the construction or release any news about changes. Our assumption is it’s a brief refresh on paint, the ground, or something similar that wouldn’t warrant an announcement, but there’s no way to know for sure. Walls from afar Canada Far and Wide is still available for guests to experience, as are all the shopping options, so none of the actual attractions are unavailable at this time. The walls are a bit of an eyesore, though, especially against the beauty of the foliage and flowers all around, so we’re hoping they’ll come down soon. Disney has some major announcements up their sleeve that they’re saving for D23: the Ultimate Disney Fan Event, an expo where they release some major news about the Disney theme parks. D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event But there are two words that Disney fans are DREADING from this year’s batch of D23 announcements: Blue Sky! “Blue Sky” is part of Disney’s creative development process. At this stage, their focus is to look at something and say, “What could it be?” Blue Sky ideas are concepts that Disney’s team is working on, but they’re not finalized or confirmed. They are simply ideas, not yet fully set in stone. The Blue Sky stage is important because Disney can explore all directions the story could go, and no idea gets thrown away. At this phase, they try to capture what they want to see in that land, attraction, or other space. Then they decide what resonates with the Imagineers as a whole. Piston Peak announcement at D23 in 2024 If Blue Sky ideas are just early concepts, you might be wondering how often these actually come to be. What’s the likelihood that the “Blue Sky” ideas shared at the D23 Expo will become reality? Well, it all depends. Much of Imagineering remains a mystery, and there are likely hundreds of Blue Sky ideas hidden within the department that we will never know about. But there are quite a few that we have seen! ©Disney Most of the new additions to the Disney parks lately have gone through the Blue Sky stage of the Imagineering process. Some recent known examples include Pandora: The World of Avatar, Pueblo Esperanza, and World of Color and Cars Land in Disney California Adventure. Though they may not have been built exactly as depicted in the concept art, most did become reality. Pandora Concept Art ©Disney Some Blue Sky projects are more up in the air. The Mary Poppins attraction previously announced for EPCOT has been indefinitely “on hold” since 2020, while the proposed Play! Pavilion in EPCOT has been outright canceled. And we can’t forget the Coco and Encanto land that would connect Frontierland with Villains Land, which turned into Piston Peak National Park. Some Blue Sky projects successfully come to life in the parks, but some disappear altogether! Remember when we started buzzing about THIS concept art for a Magic Kingdom Expansion! One of the best parts of the year is officially back in Magic Kingdom, and we couldn’t be more excited. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is one of our favorite ways to celebrate the holiday with tons of candy, special snacks, fireworks, and one of the coolest parades. Hello Jack! While we love the event, the big ticket price (and its increasing cost each year) can make it hard to decide if it’s worth paying for. Is it worth paying for a ticket when you only get a few hours in the park? Let’s find out! Prices and Basics The party runs on select nights from August 7th to October 31st. Tickets cost between $119 and $199 plus tax, with the more expensive dates being closer to Halloween. There is a small discount available for Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club Members. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party map Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party runs on: August: 7th, 11th, 14th, 18th, 21st, 23rd, 25th, 28th, 30th September: 1st, 4th, 8th, 11th, 13th, 15th, 18th, 20th, 22nd, 24th, 25th, 27th, 29th October: 1st, 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 9th, 13th, 15th, 16th, 18th, 22nd, 23rd, 25th, 27th, 29th, 31st The party runs from 7 PM to 12 PM, which is where you can find the exclusive food, special characters, and entertainment, but you can enter the park as early as 4 PM to get in some extra park time. You can use this time to ride your favorite attractions, get a full meal before eating all the candy, or just enjoy Magic Kingdom. Boo To You Throughout the party, you’ll have access to trick-or-treat stops, special souvenirs and snacks, rare characters, and special entertainment like Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade, Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular, and The Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular. Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular What’s New in 2026? For 2026, there will be a new Stitch dance party called A Masquerade with Stitch at the Rockettower Plaza Stage in Tomorrowland. After finding Lilo’s costume trunk, Stitch decides to try on costumes and accessories throughout the night, and with each costume change, the theme of the party changes! Stitch Masquerade Mash There will also be a new show in Adventureland called the See Spiritied Swashbucklers! Captain Jack Sparrow has dropped his anchor to lead this experience with his pirate antics. Spirited Swashbucklers New food has also arrived at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, which usually happens every year. We love when our favorites return, but it’s always great to try new dishes. Some of the notable new eats this year were the Fang-tastic Garlic Butter Burger, the Hades Cake Pop, and the Cruella Cookie Sandwich. New snacks have arrived! There will also be new souvenirs to buy. Every year, there’s a different collection, and we’re totally obsessed with this year’s. We’ve also fallen in love with the two exclusive popcorn buckets! Hatbox Ghost Popcorn Bucket Is It Worth It? That $200 price tag is a lot, especially when you’re getting one for every member of your family. That doesn’t include the snacks and souvenirs you’ll likely want to buy throughout the day either. For us, it’s not Halloween season without a trip to the party, and we think everyone should try it at least once. New Cast Member Costumes That being said, if you’ve done it before, there aren’t any major changes coming in 2026 that could make a revisit worth it. If you have favorites like Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade and Mickey’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular, which is one of our favorite fireworks shows, the cost might be worth it to you. If you visit every year, it can feel a bit repetitive, and there are still long lines throughout the event. Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular If you’re someone who loves entertainment and rare characters, a ticket might be the way to go. You can meet some very neat characters that you can’t find anywhere else, and your autograph book will be full by the end of the night. A ticket can be worth it depending on your priorities and what you prefer to do in the park. They’re so cute! We found that the quality of the food actually improved from last year, and years prior. We enjoyed a lot of eats and treats at MNSSHP! The crowds were a little crazy, and it definitely felt like they crammed more people into the party this year. Since it was so crowded, we didn’t get as big of a candy haul as we usually do. That slightly diminishes the value in our eyes. We loved some of the subtle changes like the small improvements to the entertainment (like lighting, for example). We also liked the Haunted Mansion characters that greet you. We want candy! It’s no secret that Disney fans often aren’t shy about sharing their opinions about the company’s rides. Whether it’s about rides that are closing, rides that are changing, unbuilt rides they wish had been completed, or even rides they wish would be built. Japan in World Showcase That brings us to Reddit, where a large Disney discussion thread recently broke out of the prompt, “If all the countries in Epcot had to have a ride, what would be your suggestions for the ones that don’t currently have a ride?” Suffice to say, many Disney Adults had an idea, and some of them were quite interesting. For decades, Disney fans have pontificated on potential additions to World Showcase, including rides for the eight World Showcase countries (China, Italy, Germany, American Adventure, Japan, Morocco, The U.K., and Canada) that currently don’t feature any. World Showcase Lagoon Let’s start with Reddit user Jedibean, who suggested a “Supercalifragilistic ride in the U.K. Starts as a merry-go-round, but then the carousel horses leave the track and take you on an adventure.” That certainly sounds fun — and more entertaining than the Mary Poppins flat ride that was announced in 2019, then swiftly canceled after the pandemic — but possibly a concept that can’t be replicated by modern technology. They wrote, “Canada – there’s space for another country pavilion next door, and I propose a shared ride with a new Jamaican pavilion & a Calgary Olympics Cool Runnings themed bobsled ride.” Cool Runnings pin User goteachyourself had ideas for multiple World Showcase pavilions, including a “Mulan-themed moderately-intense dark ride where you ride a military transport through the key scenes of the movie, with some fast elements and drops during the battle segments” in China, a “Pompeii-themed POTC-inspired boat dark ride” in Italy, an “American Rocket (a large red, white, and blue-themed drop tower that offers amazing views of the park and becomes an anchor spire)” in the American Adventure, a “1001 Arabian Nights-themed dark ride guest-starring Aladdin and Genie where you get sent into the storybook” in Morocco, and “Beaver Falls (Log flume with story elements, in which a colony of beavers are trying to prevent an ecological disaster in the Canadian wilderness)” in Canada. China Pavilion Finally, user monstahmonkee suggested a massive game-changing ride that would transform the entirety of the park. They wrote, “Overhaul the entire World Showcase. (In) back of every country install one long continuous boat ride that travels through every major Disney IP in each country; have 3 ports to get on and off in Mexico (American Adventure) and Canada and turns around and goes back and forth left to right, right to left. Hop on in Mexico, essentially see Gran Fiesta, Norway’s Frozen, China’s Mulan, Italy’s Pinocchio, America can be Pocahontas, Japan is Big Hero 6, Morocco Aladdin, France Beauty and the Beast, U.K. Peter Pan, and Canada can be Brother Bear. Do an old-school Disney-style dark ride with animatronics and with new technology and all of the songs… pump in smells of the food; it’ll be the ultimate Disney boat ride and relaxation transportation for tired walkers and seniors in the same tradition as the Disney Railroad. Disney recently hosted another quarterly earnings call to update shareholders and anyone else who would like to listen on how the company is doing. Josh D’Amaro, CEO of The Walt Disney Company ©Disney These calls gave us a look at what the Walt Disney Company is focused on, what changes could be on the way, and to hear about Disney’s thoughts on the future. The latest earnings call was held on August 5th, and CEO Josh D’Amaro had lots to share. One thing that really stood out to us was the plans for the future of Disney+, because it was not what we expected! Disney really wants to shift some more attention to sports on Disney+! Obviously, with ESPN being owned by Disney, the company wants to spend more time adding content for sports fans and buckling down on the offerings for Disney+. Disney+ bundles have shown evidence to reduce customers leaving, so we could be seeing new ESPN bundle offers. ©Disney It was put quite simply in the call, “[ESPN] is the most trusted brand in sports” and “expect us to lean in.” Disney+ has an established audience for those who love Disney content and the content on Hulu. Now, “the strategy is to bring additional sports content to Disney+ users and drive upsell in the bundles.” ESPN Wide World of Sports Disney is on track to spend $24 billion across the company on content, which is up pretty modestly from previous numbers. This does cover ALL forms of content, like movies and television that come to theaters and the Disney streaming platform. It most likely includes whatever comes of this new TikTok deal, and other forms of content. That being said, there is a focus to continue to grow Disney+. D’Amaro said that the “nature of tech is that small improvements compound over time, and we’re focused on that approach.” ©Disney It’s no secret that the plan to add more sports content through ESPN is ultimately to achieve the goal of more subscribers. International growth is a MAJOR goal of Disney+, and they think that this is one step closer to that direction. We forget that Disney+ is still fairly new, as the platform is only seven years old. Disney World is transitioning into its “end of summer” look, as the Halloween decorations are up at Magic Kingdom, and Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party has begun. Halloween at Disney World The last thing left to go is Disney World’s Cool KIDS’ SUMMER, which officially began on May 26th. The summer celebration has a month left at Disney World, and you’ve got to take advantage of it as much as you can before it’s gone! Cool KIDS’ SUMMER officially has one month left at Disney World, as the party ends on September 8th. That means we’ll have to say goodbye to the characters and fun activities throughout Disney World that came for kids of all ages (including kids at heart, like us). Cool Kids’ Summer is happening now at Disney World! If you haven’t yet, there’s still time to meet your favorite Toy Story characters at Jessie’s Roundup in Magic Kingdom. This is a new experience where Jessie, Woody, Bullseye, and more Toy Story pals take over The Diamond Horseshoe for songs, dancing, games, and other playful activities. Jessie’s Roundup at Cool Kids’ Summer Once Jessie’s Roundup ends on September 8th, the Diamond Horseshoe will transform into a new version of the restaurant! This new spot is described by Disney as “the perfect place to relax your weary legs and enjoy the atmosphere with some provisions and libations while you sit a spell.” We’re thinking it could become a lounge compared to the former table-service restaurant. The Diamond Horseshoe will still accept reservations and welcome walk-ins after this change. For now, enjoy the Toy Story experience while you still can! It’s Bullseye! We’ll also be saying goodbye to GoofyCore at EPCOT’s CommuniCore Hall. The fun dance party with Goofy was back again for another year, and you still have one month to enjoy it. It’s a great spot for kids to let out energy and parents to sit back and relax in some AC. GoofyCore Staying at a Disney World hotel is also about to feel a little different in a month, as a ton of character appearances happen during the summer. Hurricane season is upon us, and while that often brings a sense of concern for travelers heading to Disney World during those few months, we’re feeling noticeably less uneasy this year. Magic Kingdom entrance the day after Hurricane Milton For Orlando locals and others who live in hurricane-prone areas, hurricane season is just part of living where you do, but many travelers aren’t used to such storms, and the idea that one could wreck your vacation isn’t ideal. If you’ve got a trip planned for this year, we’ve got great news — the hurricane season forecast was already looking less active than normal, and now it’s gotten even BETTER. This year, hurricane season runs from June 1st through September 30th, meaning we’re about two months into it at this point. No major storms have been recorded so far, and from this new data, it’s looking like that trend may continue. The National Hurricane Center (NOAA) has released a new report looking at the remainder of this season, and things are looking even more favorable that we’ll be in for a less active year than normal. A usual hurricane season has about 14 named storms, 7 regular hurricanes, and 3 major hurricanes, but the predictions for this year are looking much lower. ©NOAA The new prediction from August 6th is looking at 7-13 named storms, 2-6 normal hurricanes, and 0-2 major hurricanes. The likelihood of a below-normal hurricane season has now risen to 75%, whereas it was sitting at 55% back in May. The most active part of hurricane season is still coming up, but so far, we’ve only had two storms this season. Tropical Storm Arthur formed in mid-June and was a pretty disorganized storm, and then there was Tropical Storm Bertha, which made landfall in Texas at the end of July. ©NOAA We do still recommend you bring ponchos and rain gear with you on your vacation, because during summer, thunderstorms are common during the day due to the high temperatures. Going to Disney World at Christmas? You’re BRAVE. Or reckless. Maybe both? Pop Century Resort It’s no secret that the weeks leading up to and following Christmas can be some of the busiest weeks of the year in Disney World. And they’re definitely the most expensive! So, what does the cost look like to stay at a Disney hotel during the holidays? We’re breaking down the prices for Pop Century Resort. Standard Room Starting things off with the most basic room offering, we have the Standard Room. These rooms are located in buildings further from the lobby and Skyliner, and do not have any special views or amenities. You’ll probably be facing the parking lot or woods area. Pop Century Standard Room For these rooms, it’s $344 per night from December 20th-23rd, and $359 per night from the 24th-31st. Note that those are the prices pre-tax, and prices may vary depending on room occupancy. This was priced with two adults. Standard Pool View Next up we’ve got the Standard Pool View Rooms, which are the same setup internally as the Standard Rooms, but they have an upgraded view. These will have a view of the Bowling Pool or the Computer Pool, but not the Hippy Dippy Pool (which is the main pool). Like the other standard rooms, they’re further from the lobby and Skyliner. Pop Century Resort Bowling Pool These rooms cost $376 per night from December 20th-23rd, then $387 per night from the 24th-31st. Once again, make sure to budget for tax, and any additional adults in the room may cause the rate to go up. Preferred Room The third category of room here is the Preferred Room! These are close to Classic Hall, dining, shopping, and transportation (which could include the Skyliner). They will have views of the courtyard or landscaping areas. This could be a big bonus if you don’t want to walk a bunch of extra steps at the end of the night! Let’s go to Pop Century! For these, the price is $384 per night from the 20th-23rd, and $399 per night from the 24th-31st of December. We’re getting into the “pretty pricey” territory here for a Value Resort! Keep in mind that this is one of the CHEAPEST Disney-owned hotels. Preferred Pool View The final room category, and the most expensive, is Preferred Pool View. This gets the same benefit of location with proximity to Classic Hall, dining, shopping, and transportation, but it also offers views of the Hippy Dippy Pool. Hippy Dippy Pool at Pop Century This is the largest and most popular pool at Pop Century, located in the 1960s section of the hotel. Here, the rates finally break that $400 barrier. The rooms cost $395 per night from December 20th-23rd, and $408 per night from December 24th-31st. Current Discount If those rates seem daunting, there is one way to save! Disney is currently offering a hotel room discount that gives 10% off your stay most nights from October 4th-November 19th and November 22nd-December 24th. If you’re going the week after Christmas, this won’t apply to your trip, but you could save some cash the week leading up to the holidays. Pop Century Resort lobby As you can see, it’s pretty expensive to visit Disney World on those dates, even at a Value Resort. Some tips to save money on your trip include: Bringing your own snacks and food into the parks or keeping snack items in your hotel room for breakfast. Use price trackers (like Google Flights) when booking your airfare so you can get the best deal. Purchase discount Disney gift cards at retailers like Sam’s Club and Costco. Set a hard limit for spending while you’re in the parks and put it on a gift card. When it’s gone, it’s gone! Pop Century No matter where you’re staying Christmas week in Disney World, it’s going to be pricey, but if you budget ahead and go on vacation with a strategy, you’ll get the most bang for your buck! One of the best parts of going to Disney World is meeting all the different characters! From Mickey Mouse and his friends to our favorite princesses, there is something so special about seeing your favorite characters come to life. Hello Jack! With Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party back in Magic Kingdom, we can’t help but think of the rare and spooky characters you can meet during the party! While you can wave to some pretty cool characters in the parade, like the Grave Diggers from the Haunted Mansion, there are also tons of characters you get to meet and take photos with. Here’s a list of all the characters you can meet! Main Street, U.S.A. What a perfect way to start the party! After you scan into the park, you’ll be directed to the right of Main Street, where you’ll grab your trick-or-treat bag and map. You’ll want to take some time to hang out over here because we usually spot some of the coolest characters! They generally are on a rotating basis, so you might want to check back if there’s a certain character you don’t want to miss. You won’t want to miss this! One of the most popular characters to meet, you’ll find in Town Square Theatre. Yes, Mickey and Minnie are there in their Halloween costumes, but there’s another couple you can meet. Here, you can meet Jack Skellington and Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas! This line can often be over two hours, so you’ll want to get there early. You can even line up as early as 4 PM before the party officially starts at 7 PM. You can also go during the parade times or wait till the end of the night to hopefully have a shorter line. Jack and Sally Tomorrowland In Tomorrowland, you can catch Stitch in his Halloween costume at the brand-new dance party, A Masquerade with Stitch. Stitch Masquerade Mash You’ll also find Lilo and Angel there, dressed up in costumes from Lilo’s costume trunk. Hi Angel! Fantasyland There are so many characters you can find here, so if you’re a massive character fan, you’ll want to head here to get all the photos and autographs you need. Lady Tremaine, Anastasia, and Drizella (near Pinocchio Village Haus) Belle (near Enchanted Tales with Belle) Gaston (close to the backside of Seven Dwarfs Mine Train) Hi Belle! Maleficent (Princess Fairytale Hall Queue) Evil Queen (Princess Fairytale Hall Queue) Prince Eric and Ariel (Under The Sea — Journey of the Little Mermaid) It’s Maleficent Pluto (Outside Storybook Circus Tent) Pluto!! Renata at Haunted Mansion Adventureland You can meet the chaotic pirate, Captain Jack Sparrow, as well as Captain Barbosa, right around Pirates of the Caribbean. You’ll see them as a part of a new experience called Spirited Swashbucklers, a series of shows put on by pirates! Jack’s Buccaneer Bash Near the Magic Carpets of Aladdin, you can meet friends like Aladdin and Abu. It’s Aladdin and Abu! We had so much fun at last night’s Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, the first of the season, but there was something new that had only been a rumor until we saw it in person. New Cast Member Costumes You’d likely heard all the whispers about Cast Member costumes for the party were changing, and we found out last night that those rumors were TRUE. We spoke to some Cast Members who told us their new costumes are much lighter and more comfortable than the previous costumes, but we understand why so many people are mourning the loss of the colorful, fun, whimsical costumes from years past. In fact, we went to social media to ask what you all REALLY think, and to say you have thoughts would be an understatement. When the initial rumor came out, a lot of Disney fans were thrown off by the color scheme. The old costumes are pictured below, just in case you don’t remember what they look like. They were super bright, colorful, and many described them as whimsical, which we agree with. Many Cast Members enjoyed working on party nights for the costumes themselves, though they were pretty warm thanks to the type of fabric used. Former Cast Member costumes at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party That Florida sun can get dangerous fast, especially since Cast Members were usually on site around 3:30 PM to begin helping people entering the park at 4 for the party, and during the summer, the sun doesn’t go down until around 9 PM. That’s nearly six hours in the blazing sun in hot costumes, so from a practicality standpoint, we can understand. Some of you feel the same way — Instagram user @tatteddisneydad_ hopped on our Instagram post about the change and commented, “They look way more comfortable…. not so many layers and probably not so hot…… could’ve kept the coloring though of the other ones because that was fun.” New Cast Member costumes Another Instagram user, @magic.is.calling, put what a lot of people are feeling into words really well, saying, “I think everyone agrees, we LOVE the company making positive changes for the cast members to be more comfortable, but the color scheme is not fun. Bright colors make sense to stand out from the crowds!” Bright colors aren’t only fun — they’re also much easier to spot at night. Cast Members did confirm with us last night that these costumes don’t glow in the dark, meaning that when the sun goes down, the darker color scheme will likely be harder to identify. Instagram user @kris.plum commented, “I just hope they’re able to be seen in the dark. So many kiddos are told to “find a Cast Member for help” when they get lost in the park! ” Another Instagram user, @mylifeasmaxime, commented something similar, saying, “Great dark uniform for a night event. Gonna be so easy to find cast members when you need help. Great job Disney.” Cast Member costume in a crowd of people Other users have commented on how some aspects of the costume are cute, but the entire thing as a whole just isn’t coming together well. User @goingtoguides commented, “The purple bat tie and hair bow are super cute, the stacking skeletons fabric pattern is super cute but something about the whole outfit is not super cute.” We’ve also got to point out a few comments that did make us snicker, simply because, well, they’ve got a point! Instagram user @mel.killough commented, “are these for mickey’s not so scary corporate cubicles? ” and @momminwiththemouse poked fun at Disney’s use of “go-away green,” the shade scientifically proven to encourage eyes to look away that they use a lot during construction projects, saying, “Disney is taking that “go away green” to the next level.” Cast Members on Main Street Overall, we’re so hoping these costumes are much more comfortable for Cast Members, because it’s VERY important to keep Cast Members happy! They make the magic, and keeping them comfortable in the Florida heat is incredibly important. We’ll miss the old costumes, that’s for sure, but we’re going to try to learn to love these too. If you’re planning a trip to Disney World, there are several great resources you might want to be aware of in the parks. First Aid in Magic Kingdom From the Guest Relations spaces to the Baby Care Center to the water bottle refill stations, knowing about these little spots can make your visit infinitely better when you encounter issues or need to solve a problem. And one of the most important places to remember in an emergency is First Aid! First Aid is usually not a place we visit frequently in the parks, but we recently had to stop by after a run-in with a bee! One of our reporters got a bee sting in Magic Kingdom and headed to First Aid to see what they could do. When you arrive, you check in at the desk. From there, a Cast Member took her back to a treatment room and asked some medical questions before applying a topical numbing gel to the area. They fixed us up! She left with some topical Benadryl and a custom-made ice pack with a slot for her thumb, where the sting was located. Our reporter said, “The nurses at first aid are incredibly knowledgeable. They are all registered nurses and are kind, sweet, and very attentive to anything that might happen while you’re in a park, so I highly recommend coming by if you have any issues.” Baby Care Center and First Aid sign at EPCOT While there, our reporter learned that First Aid gets quite busy on hot days in the summer because people in the parks don’t hydrate properly! They see a LOT of cases of dehydration. So, if you’re heading to Disney World on vacation, make sure you keep an eye on how much water you’re drinking. Bring a refillable bottle and fill it up at the stations around the park. Quick-service restaurants and snack stands with drink machines will give you free cups of ice water if you ask, as well. Water Bottle Refill Station Just in case you need it in the future, the First Aid locations in each park are as follows: Magic Kingdom — located between Casey’s Corner and Crystal Palace on Main Street, U.S.A. Who’s ready for some more eats, treats, and drinks at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party?! Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party! The special ticketed Halloween party at Magic Kingdom has a TON of good bites this year. Exclusive food and beverage items are available on select party nights across the park. This year, Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe has FOUR brand-new items, and we obviously weren’t passing up on them! You better be coming to Pecos Bill hungry, because there are a lot of new items here that look like they should be on the must-try list. Pecos has been a great spot for exclusive eats, treats, and drinks at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in the past, and this year they have four scary-good-looking new items on the menu! The quick-service restaurant in Frontierland will be open until 10 PM during party nights. We wasted no time getting right into the new menu! The first thing we grabbed was the Cursed Cowboy Fries for $10.49. These were sweet potato fries topped with barbecue burnt ends, chipotle queso, pico de gallo, and crispy jalapeños. Cursed Cowboy Fries The sweet potato fries are really good, and we loved the chipotle queso on this dish. It had a little bit of a kick to it, with a nice full peppery flavor. We didn’t get a lot of crispy jalapeños on our dish, but the diced tomato was great. Our issue with the dish was that barbecue burnt ends weren’t crispy burnt ends, which made the dish all one texture. That texture was more soggy and chewy, and we weren’t a fan of that. We found it tough to eat from the texture alone, and it was a big dish, which made it even tougher. This just wasn’t our favorite After that, we tried the Frightful Black Bean Burger for $12.99. This plant-based burger is topped with jalapeño-ranch slaw and jalapeño chips, served with french fries. Oh, did we mention that the bun is purple?! Frightful Black Bean Burger This offering rocked our world! It’s the only thing at Pecos worth going for during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. This black bean patty is smoky, hearty, and packed with awesome plant-based protein. It has a smokiness to it that makes it taste sort of barbecued, and it’s topped with a pretty mild and really delicious slaw, and it’s not that tangy. In fact, we actually would’ve liked it if it had more sweetness and more of a vinegar flavor to it, but it was still really delicious. It comes with fries! The pumpernickel bun reminded us of the Doom Burger, which was offered during the 50th anniversary at Columbia Harbour House. Instead of the plant-based crab cake, they offer this with the black bean burger. They still have the slaw on it, but removed the red onion. All in all, this is something we hope they will bring to a permanent menu somewhere. We love the plant-based bowl that they offer at Pecos Bill, but we think this is something we would get more often. Let’s take a bite! Then we had the Skull-icious Cake for dessert for $6.29. This is a chocolate cake, with chocolate mousse and peanut butter buttercream with chocolate popping candies and a chocolate cookie crust. Skull-icious Cake The presentation of this dessert was really cool; we’ll give them that! The dessert was sweet and rich, but not off-the-wall sweet. The flavors came together well, without anything being overwhelming. This thing looks so cool! The only problem we have with this dish is that a massive load of white chocolate needed to be used for the skull. So, all of the overwhelming sweetness comes from the skull alone. The cake itself is good, but the skull is way too much for our liking. The white chocolate was a little much To drink, we grabbed the returning Guava Lemonade Slushy for $6.79. This is a non-alcoholic guava lemonade slushy with cheesecake foam, Halloween sprinkles, and a sugar spider. Guava Lemonade Slushy We hate to say it, but we did not like this thing whatsoever. We’d go as far as to say this is one of the worst things we’ve EVER had at Disney World. It’s guava lemonade topped with cheesecake foam…what else were we really expecting with this?! That just doesn’t mix well. It’s a sour drink with the dairy cheesecake; it just wasn’t it. We don’t even think a kiddo would like this drink because it’s more sour than sweet. Yeah, this isn’t for us. This was NOT good! As we mentioned before, that’s not all you can get at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe during the party. The following have returned for another year, and will be available: Buzzard Wings — Whole chicken wings tossed with grilled onions, jalapeños, and lime. Pumpkin Patch Mini Churros — These are mini churros rolled in orange sugar and served with pumpkin cheesecake dip. Just so you know, we think this is a TOP 5 snack that you can get at MNSSHP! It’s officially fall in Magic Kingdom, and there is a new way to celebrate the season! Happy Fall! The Mickey pumpkin wreaths are hung up and there are fall snacks all over Magic Kingdom. From ghostly popcorn buckets to fun characters, there are tons of ways to celebrate the season — even without a ticket to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party! Starting August 7 and running all the way through October 31, Disney PhotoPass is rolling out a full lineup of festive Halloween photo ops scattered across the park — available during regular park hours, so you don’t need a party ticket to snap these seasonal shots. It’s FINALLY here! Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party has kicked off, and we (especially me) couldn’t be more excited! Mickey’s Boo To You! Halloween Parade We’re live at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, and we’re taking you along with us. With the party comes several changes — park hours, menu items, character meetings, and more! But we’re here to talk about the attraction changes because some do receive spooky overlays for the season! First, let’s talk about EVERY ride available during the party: Adventureland Pirates of the Caribbean Jungle Cruise The Magic Carpets of Aladdin Frontierland Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Liberty Square Haunted Mansion Fantasyland Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Prince Charming Regal Carrousel “it’s a small world” Peter Pan’s Flight The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh Mad Tea Party Haunted Mansion Storybook Circus Dumbo the Flying Elephant The Barnstormer Tomorrowland Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Astro Orbiter Monsters, Inc. Spooky lighting effects will also be present, making for an even scarier ride! Mad Tea Party at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Space Mountain You may think the Haunted Mansion is the spookiest ride of the night, but I beg to differ! Space Mountain plays a spooky soundtrack and turns ALL of the lights off, so you don’t even know when you’re about to turn or get a good whiplash! I don’t know what’s scarier — riding it in pitch blackness or riding it with the lights on (yes, that’s really happened to me, and it was SCARY!) Space Mountain Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor Everything is better with jokes, especially when they’re on theme! All of the monsters will come out in their best Halloween spirit and put on the show we all know and love, but with a spooky twist! Yes, there will still be “that guy,” but he may be dressed as a ghost. Monsters, Inc. Who’s ready for a hauntingly great time?! Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party has arrived in Magic Kingdom, and we’re here to check out everything from the costumes to the entertainment to the decor and, of course, the FOOD! Fang-tastic Garlic Butter Burger These special event parties are offered on select nights from August 7th through October 31st, and with so much to see, eat, and experience while you’re there, we’re here to help! Which is why we had to find out if a trip to Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe in Tomorrowland for these Not So Scary-exclusive treats is worth a stop! The Fang-tastic Garlic Butter Burger is $14.99 at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe. This is an Angus beef burger with Boursin and brie fondue, crispy onions, and garlic pickles on a toasted black bun, served with French fries. Fang-tastic Garlic Butter Burger We had HIGH hopes for this burger, and we were NOT disappointed! The patty was your typical Cosmic Ray’s burger and was fine, if a bit well done. However, everything around it was top-notch. The bun had a nice crust on the outside, giving it a bit of a crunch, while the inside was super airy and soft, making it easy to sink your teeth into this one. Fang-tastic Garlic Butter Burger The Boursin and brie cheese mix was creamy and thick, and the flavors melted really well together to craft a mild and herby taste. There are also literal chunks of garlic in it, which pack a punch. The pickles had a nice acidity and dill flavor, and the garlic really comes through. They were also super fresh and crunchy, which works really well with a soft bread and adds a great textural element. The whole burger was a savory diner’s heaven, and besides the patty itself, the only thing we’d change is adding a bit more cheese. Fang-tastic Garlic Butter Burger The Minnie Witch Hat is $7.99, also available at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe. This is a sugar cookie topped with strawberry-banana mousse, buttercream, and two chocolate discs to make 3D Minnie ears. Minnie’s Witch Hat We tried the Minnie Witch Hat in previous years, but this year has a different strawberry-banana version, even though it looks almost identical. This version of the witch hat was also a big win for us. The strawberry flavor was super subtle, while the banana was really enjoyable and unique for a party dessert. Combined, the two flavors created a sweet and light filling. Meanwhile, the outer coating with its thin layer of white chocolate was sweet yet thin, adding nicely to the mousse without overpowering it. The icing along the bottom was a nice thick buttercream that’s sugary and adds a nice density to otherwise really light dish, helping it hold up structurally. Overall, the 2026 Witch’s Hat is a unique offering, especially when compared to a lot of the chocolate desserts you’ll find at the party.
