TRON Lightcycle / Run Disney World wait times have a reputation for being, well, unpredictable, and that’s especially true during the fall season. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind reigned supreme as usual this week, though wait times overall continued to go down at all four of Disney World’s parks. 3. Alright, Disney World, it’s time to really dive in and see what you’ve got going on this week. It’s currently wall-city all around the parks (with the exception of EPCOT; rock on, EPCOT), but it’s all to bring exciting new additions to the parks…but that doesn’t mean they’re any easier to look at for now. Polynesian construction This week, we didn’t see too much movement on the major projects behind the walls, but we DID see a lot of details added to one specific new land, and it does make us laugh a bit every time we see it (in a good way!). On the flip side, a project in EPCOT did finally finish up, though we’re not sure people are going to be big fans of the final product, and for the holiday lovers out there, one of your favorite ride overlays comes back this week! You know that big pavement project EPCOT was working on? Well, it’s officially complete, but it’s totally lost the lighting effects that used to be present at night, and we’re already missing them. Unfortunately, it was also revealed that the work on Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has been extended yet again. Now, instead of opening this month as previously planned, it’ll remain closed through mid-December (after closing in April). Let’s take a look at what you need to expect in terms of closures and ongoing construction in Disney World from October 30th through November 6th. Magic Kingdom Carousel of Progress Carousel of Progress closed on July 6th to undergo a major refurbishment. The work will include completely revamping the scenes in the attraction to make them more modern and represent more recent parts of history, as well as adding a new Walt Disney animatronic at the opening. ©Disney Currently, the attraction is set to reopen in 2027, though no official date has been set yet. Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island An iconic part of the Magic Kingdom is now permanently closed. As of July 7th, 2025, the Rivers of America, including the Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island, are permanently closed to make way for the new Cars area, Piston Peak. There are lots of construction walls up in the area now, and the structures on Tom Sawyer Island have been demolished. Most recently, we saw some pretty great updates on the progress at the site! via @bioreconstruct on X/Twitter Piston Peak National Park will be replacing this area of the Magic Kingdom. Disney has not yet announced an opening date for the new Cars area, but we do know it will feature two brand-new attractions and be themed to look like a National Park. The Walt Disney World Railroad Is Back, but There’s Still One Big Catch Disney’s Hollywood Studios Muppets Courtyard Muppet*Vision 3D and PizzeRizzo closed on June 8th, 2025, and Muppets Courtyard has been walled off for construction on the new Monsters, Inc. land. Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano has been closed since May 11th, 2025. Most recently, we saw TONS of teeth added to the details around the buildings. We’re talking on the roof, on the windowsills, and more — practically anywhere there’s room, you’ll find teeth. It very much fits the monster vibe, that’s for sure! So many teeth! We’ll get to explore their world during H.U.M.A.N. Day, or “Humans Understand Monsters Are Nice” Day, with Disney continuing to say, “Human guests will have the chance to explore the city, meet its citizens, taste unique cuisine, and step into the everyday world of monsters in a totally new way. For the first time, two worlds once separated are meeting face to scaly, furry, and fang-filled face – brought together not by screams, but by laughter.” ©Disney It’s also been fully confirmed that Harryhausen’s will be one of the restaurants in the new land, in addition to Archie’s Square Pig Pizza. Most recently, we got a look at some of the new food coming to the land, and we’ve gotta say, we’re pretty excited! ©Disney If you’re missing The Muppets, you can go visit them at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets right now! FIRST LOOK! Christmas Has Arrived in Disney’s Hollywood Studios EPCOT Coral Reef Restaurant Coral Reef, one of the most controversial restaurants in all of Disney World, closed for refurbishment on September 8th. Coral Reef Restaurant The Disney World website recently adjusted to allow guests to begin booking reservations again on November 4th and beyond, which we’re now considering the reopening date, unless Disney tells us differently. Sections of Germany Pavilion On July 13th, both the guest bathrooms in the Germany Pavilion and the majority of the Volkskunst store in EPCOT’s Germany Pavilion closed for refurbishment. The roof of Das Kaufhaus is also under refurbishment. Totally closed While a Cast Member did tell us the store closure was to fix the Cast Member bathrooms out of sight, Disney has not revealed a reopening date for the store or the public bathrooms. Other parts of the pavilion are also seeing construction and refurbishment, but are not causing additional closures. 3 New Disney Rumors Swirling This Week: What’s Real, Fake, or TBD Disney’s Animal Kingdom DinoLand, USA On February 2nd, DinoLand, USA, officially closed to make way for the new Tropical Americas land, Pueblo Esperanza. Most recently, thanks to a behind-the-scenes update from Disney, we got a look at the progress coming to this new land. ©Disney We can also see lots of work happening at the front of the new Indiana Jones ride, Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent! ©bioreconstruct This new land will have three new rides: El Carrusel de los Animalitos featuring classic Disney animals, Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent where you’ll explore a Mayan temple, and Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto that invites you into the Madrigals’ home. We can’t wait to continue to see how it all shapes up. THEY’RE HERE! Christmas Decorations Just Landed at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Disney World Hotels Disney’s Port Orleans — French Quarter Scat Cat’s Club and Lounge at Disney’s Port Orleans — French Quarter officially closed for refurbishment on October 6th. Don’t worry, you can still grab the iconic beignets next door at Sassagoula Floatworks & Food Factory Mickey Beignets at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort Additionally, to make up for the lack of drinks at the lounge, a temporary bar will be available near the cafe from 5 PM to 11 PM each night. When it comes to reopening, the cafe is set to be closed till December and the Lounge until January, though Disney hasn’t released official dates. All-Star Sports Resort Disney quietly announced that Grandstand Spirits Pool Bar is closing for a refurbishment. It closed on September 18th and is expected to last through mid-December 2026. Grandstand Spirits During the closure, we recommend you swing by End Zone Food Court, just a short walk away from the pool, to snag your eats and drinks. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge There are numerous closures taking place around Animal Kingdom Lodge over the next few months that may affect your vacation. The main lobby and primary entrance were set to be closed from August 17th through October 9th, and check-in moved to the Palace Library. Additionally, from September 28th through October 9th, the north side lobby corridor was set to be closed, which closed the north side lobby elevators on the second floor and the outdoor terrace observation deck. However, during a recent visit, it’s clear that this refurbishment is far from over. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Currently, the section of the lobby closest to the back savanna has reopened, which includes the refurbished stairs, giving guests access between the lobby level, Sanaa, and the savanna, and also opens up the walking path between the two sides of the resort. However, the rest of the lobby and Johari Treasures refurbishment is far from complete. Cast Members don’t have an estimate for when it will be finished, but it definitely won’t be soon, based on the level of construction we still saw. The refurbished stairs! The other refurbishment that’s about to begin is: October 26th through November 6th: The south side lobby corridor will be closed. During this time, Community Hall, Safari So Good Arcade, the laundry room, the Palace Library, lobby restrooms, and the outdoor terrace observation deck will be unavailable. Sassagoula River Cruise — Disney’s Old Key West Resort The Sassagoula River Cruise at Disney’s Old Key West, which takes guests to Disney Springs, is temporarily closed. It’s expected to reopen on November 1st, and until that time, bus transportation will be available. Old Key West Dock This spot was also closed from late July to early August this year as well, so it’s possible, but not confirmed, that the boats and/or docks may require additional maintenance that wasn’t initially expected. Convention Center and El Centro Corridor — Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort Beginning on August 10th, the Convention Center at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort began a planned refurbishment that is expected to last through September 2027. Coronado Springs Additionally, the hotel’s El Centro Corridor and surrounding areas will also undergo refurbishment tied to the convention center refurbishment. While there’s no end date for this construction project, we do know that work will be completed in phases, with certain spaces being temporarily inaccessible at times. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa This hotel has been undergoing refurbishments for quite some time now, but some sections of the hotel — specifically the porte cochere — will continue to undergo refurbishment through at least early 2027. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort We certainly hope it’ll actually reopen on this timeline — we’re a little tired of seeing construction all over this beautiful hotel! Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort Currently, work is taking place all over Bay Lake Tower through Late 2027. Bay Lake Tower While currently no major closures are taking place due to this construction, it’s important to note that you may see or hear construction during your stay. Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort The tennis courts at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort are currently closed for refurbishment. Saratoga Springs While Disney hasn’t shared an exact reopening date, the current timeline is that they’ll be closed from late August through November 2026. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace closed in April for refurbishment, and originally had a reopening timeline of June. Then, the timeline was pushed to mid-October, but it’s now just been pushed to mid-December, meaning this spot will have been closed for over half of this year. Tiki Terrace Construction It’s unclear what exactly is being done at this spot, but we’ll be sure to keep a close eye out and update you on what we see. Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and Resort The Promenade Fine Art Gallery closed its Disney’s Boardwalk location on October 20th, 2025. However, the Promenade Fine Art Gallery isn’t closing for good, and it will just be moving to a new location. Promenade Fine Art Gallery Disney filed permits for the Boardwalk titled “Project Amazon” and “Project Bubbles” earlier this year, and now that we have a bit more information on them, we’re thinking that this currently vacant spot could soon become the home of the new Basin on the Boardwalk store on its way! The shop will be rooted in the resort’s classic boardwalk heritage and will offer a sensory shopping experience that is described as “both timeless and distinctly new.” A Word of Warning About Grabbing Breakfast at Your Disney World Hotel We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all the latest Disney World news, so stay tuned to DFB! 5. Disney has been implementing and collaborating with AI so much that it feels like we’re constantly getting hit with news left and right. Now, we have yet another update: an AI company quietly announced its partnership with Disney. The Mandalorian and Grogu Disney just added Marvel and Star Wars characters to Voicemod, an AI-powered voice-modifying platform that lets users change their voice’s tone and sound to sound just like their favorite characters. Voicemod will add Star Wars and Marvel projects to its platform, allowing its 5.7 million monthly active users to use quotes and sound effects as they communicate on social and gaming platforms like Twitch and Discord. The first Star Wars soundboards from The Mandalorian & Grogu are available now, and more from Star Wars and Marvel will be available in the future. ©Disney Available as standalone purchases within the Voicemod platform, users can access soundboards from many fan-favorite Star Wars stories, including sounds and voices of The Mandalorian, Grogu, and more, to build a collection tailored to the characters and worlds they enjoy. The soundboards plug directly into the platform’s audio setup, allowing users to trigger sounds in real time while gaming, streaming, or chatting online. ©Voicemod “Gameplay and streaming are inherently social, and a lot of that experience comes down to how people react and interact in the moment,” Jaime Bosch, Voicemod’s founder and CEO, said in a statement. “These soundboards build on those interactions by giving users a way to bring sounds from Marvel and Star Wars into those moments, whether they’re joking with friends, reacting on stream, or creating content. The shared feelings that come from sounds people know and love generate an instant sense of belonging.” ©Voicemod This isn’t Disney’s first venture into using characters on AI-powered software. Last year, 200-plus Disney, Marvel, Pixar, and Star Wars characters were added to Sora AI, OpenAI’s generative AI short-form video platform, under a three-year licensing agreement. However, Disney quickly exited the deal when Sora AI shut down this March. ©SORA During the Disney x Sora deal’s dissolution, a Disney spokesperson said, “We will continue to engage with AI platforms to find new ways to meet fans where they are while responsibly embracing new technologies that respect IP and the rights of creators.” The Walt Disney Company We’ll continue to keep you updated on the latest Disney news, so stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for more. Soon, Bountiful Valley Brews will be coming to Disney California Adventure, and we’re so excited. Disney refers to the spot as “a little taste of the valley, right in the heart of Disney California Adventure Park.” The kiosk is actually a nod to one of the park’s opening day attractions, Bountiful Valley Farm. It used to be a walk-through experience celebrating California’s rich farming history. The attraction is closed now, but it’s cool that it will live on through this new kiosk. ©Disney We’re getting more and more excited to check this new spot out, and Disney has now shared the full menu AND prices. 9. It’s not the holidays at Disney World until the decorations start popping up. Hollywood Studios is already covered in red-and-white stars and vibrant ornaments just in time for the holidays! Glisten at Hollywood Studios But even more decorations are coming to Hollywood Studios for the holiday after-hours event, Jollywood Nights. Let’s take a look at all of the holly jolly decor that’s already popping up! The ice skating rink for Glisten is already installed! Currently, the stage is covered in a white tarp so the ice isn’t exposed. We’re so excited that the show is coming back for 2026. The stage! Glisten is an ice-skating show located right in front of the Chinese Theater, featuring live dancers and ice skaters jamming out to your favorite Christmas tunes. Disney hasn’t announced the times for performances this year, but it’ll likely show multiple times a night like the years before. Glisten! The snowflake towers hiding the light fixtures are also installed, featuring a baby blue background with a white geometric snowflake. So festive! Plus, some topiaries are out, too, and they’re evenly distributed around the stage’s platforms for even more holiday decorations. Some holly jolly plants! If you’re willing to spend on an after-hours event, we’ll always recommend Jollywood Nights. It features amazing live entertainment, including one of our favorites: Holidays in Hollywood. Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy host this stage show, which features other fun acts from Disney Princesses and, of course, Minnie and Mickey. Holidays in Hollywood Another show returning is What’s This? Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas Sing-Along. This sing-along show takes you through the events of the iconic film with appearances by Jack, Sally, Zero, Oogie Boogie, and more! Sing Along In addition to live entertainment, Jollywood Nights also features meet-and-greets with some exclusive characters like Mike Wazowski, George Sanderson, and Needleman from Monsters, Inc., Baloo and King Louie from TaleSpin, Lotso from Toy Story 3, Bo Peep from Toy Story, The Mandalorian and Grogu, Joy from Inside Out, and more! Bo Peep at Jollywood Nights Plus, you can grab some holiday food at select quick-service locations throughout the park, and look out for two exclusive dining experiences: The Hollywood Brown Derby transforms into Jazzy Holidays, a speakeasy-inspired jazz lounge, and The Hollywood Tower Hotel Courtyard hosts the Twilight Soirée at the Tip Top Club, an otherworldly soirée with a ghostly band! Food and Beverages at Jazzy Holidays Jollywood Nights runs from 7:30 PM to 12:30 AM on select nights from November 7th, 2026 to January 5th, 2027. 10. Welcome back, coffee people! It’s time for episode FIVE of trying to find out which Disney World hotel is the best for people who want good coffee and also want to add a little Disney magic to their workday! Chip at Disney’s Riviera Resort That’s right! I’ve given myself the challenge of visiting EVERY Disney World hotel to see which is the best to work from home (and drink coffee) at! We’re basing this all on their coffee, their atmosphere, and their space (the number of tables and outlets available), and today, we’re headed to the Riviera Resort! Disney’s Riviera Resort is one of the company’s newer Disney Vacation Club resorts, opening in December 2019. This resort offers 1-, 2-, and 3-Bedroom Villas, as well as Tower and Deluxe Studios. It is located most closely to EPCOT and is home to a Disney Skyliner location. The resort is inspired by Europe, specifically Walt and his wife Lillian’s own travels along the French Riviera. The theme translates into a refined and elegant space that is simultaneously bright and airy, with a touch of Disney whimsy through several murals. Tangled Mural at Disney’s Riviera Resort There are several (delicious) dining locations at this resort, including Bar Riva (the resort’s pool bar), Le Petit Cafe (the resort’s coffee shop/bakery), Primo Piatto (the resort’s quick-service location), and Topolino’s Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera (the resort’s table-service location). It’s a fine dining spot! Coffee – 9/10 Let’s start with the coffee, which I had VERY high expectations for. Everyone RAVES about the coffee at Le Petit Cafe, especially their specialty cold brews, so it was a no-brainer that I had to get one of those! I decided to grab a large Cinnamon Cold Brew for $7.44. This is topped with House-made Honey-Almond Whipped Cream, and I added a splash of oat milk. And let’s just say that this coffee did NOT disappoint. Cinnamon Cold Brew Most of the coffees I’ve had during this series have either been so sweet that I couldn’t taste the coffee flavor or so bitter that I couldn’t even drink it. This cold brew was straight in the middle — not too sweet but still can taste the coffee without being too bitter! The only reason it doesn’t get a perfect 10/10 is that I wish there was a bit more of that cinnamon flavor, but other than that, it was DELICIOUS! I highly recommend! Atmosphere – 10/10 The vibes of the Riviera are just impeccable. I wanted to start my day outside, but unfortunately, the Wi-Fi didn’t reach there, so I was forced to work my whole day inside (which was not a problem at all). Next to Le Petit Cafe is the Voyageurs’ Lounge, and this is the spot that guests tend to work from. This lounge reflects Walt Disney’s travels through Europe, including decor inspired by the books Walt Disney collected and his 1935 “Grand Tour” through the continent. Voyageurs’ Lounge It was dimly lit, but not too dark to the point where I couldn’t see my work, and the ambiance and music playing were perfect for the resort. Most resorts play the classic Disney songs, which the Riviera did too, but in a different way — the songs were sung in French! This added an extremely nice touch to my workday. And so many other guests had the same idea because almost every table that was occupied had a laptop with them to do their work! Voyageurs’ Lounge Space – 7/10 Speaking of Voyageurs’ Lounge and their tables, there were quite a few. This space was really meant for people who wanted to work from home at the resort, so there are outlets readily available at each table, including at the long, tall table. However, there were only about 10 tables/spaces for each party. Le Petit Cafe also has some seating with outlets, but only about five tables in there. So, while there were plenty of outlets for the number of tables, there could have been more tables, which is why I’m giving the space a 7/10. Voyageurs’ Lounge Overall – 8.5/10 That’s right, everyone — we have a NEW leader! The coffee was delicious, the atmosphere was AMAZING, and there was enough space where I wasn’t fighting to find a table or an outlet! This has definitely been my favorite resort to work from so far in this series, which is why it is getting an 8.5/10. Here are my current rankings: Riviera Resort — 8.5/10 BoardWalk Inn — 8/10 Coronado Springs Resort – 7/10 Polynesian Village Resort – 5/10 Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds — 5/10 Le Petit Cafe We are headed to ALL of the Disney World resorts for this series, so stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more because they’re coming real soon! 11. We’ve seen EPCOT crowds rise pretty exponentially over the past few weeks, thanks to both the Food & Wine Festival and the fact that it’s the only park without major construction walls right now (we find ourselves gravitating there too). Crowds entering EPCOT During festivals, especially Food & Wine, which is one of the most popular of the year, if not THE most popular of the year, crowds can get pretty intense, so it’s important to pack your patience. Though, based on new data that’s just come out from the TEA Global Experience Index, the theme park isn’t NEARLY as busy as about seven others that have been experiencing higher crowds. What is the TEA Global Experience Index, you ask? It was formerly known as the Theme Index and Museum Index Report, and it provides a bit of insight into how many guests are visiting theme parks around the world each year. The most recent report was for 2025, and while we often just look at the North American theme parks, there are hundreds of popular vacation spots all over the world that are important to take into account. Crowds According to the 2025 report, while EPCOT ranks as the third most popular park in North America, behind only Magic Kingdom and Disneyland Park, on the global list, it ranks number seven. Now, at the top of the list in the WORLD is none other than Magic Kingdom. Yes, even though you’ve heard us talk about how we’ve been surprised at low crowds in the park more days than we expected, it still is the most crowded park in the world. Crowds at Magic Kingdom At number two is Disneyland Park, so yes, the two most popular parks in North America are ALSO the most popular parks in the entire world, which is quite impressive. We’d be shocked if it wasn’t Disney. However, the third spot was taken by Universal, as it’s Universal Studios Japan, and Tokyo Disneyland at Tokyo Disney Resort isn’t far behind, sitting in fourth place. Cinderella Castle in Tokyo Disneyland 5th place goes to Shanghai Disney, so yes, the international parks are high on this list too, and for good reason. Have you seen their design? It blows our minds! Finally, in 6th place is Chimelong Ocean Kingdom, located in Hengqin, China, which is a marine-themed destination. It opened on March 29th, 2014, and is one of the world’s largest ocean-themed parks. ©Shanghai Disney Resort Since the beginning of this month, we’ve noticed higher crowds in EPCOT than we anticipated, even knowing about Halloween season and the festival. October is often a hit-or-miss month for crowds, seeing as the spooky season makes things pretty crowded, but not a ton of schools have fall breaks during the month, especially towards the latter half. However, while we were in the parks the other day, we did overhear a few families from the United Kingdom mention that their kids were on fall break, so that can also affect crowds. 12. Wondering what all the fuss is about with Disney Lorcana? We’ve got you covered! We love Lorcana! From viral social media content to hours-long lines at Disney Springs for new releases, Disney Lorcana has been getting some serious hype recently. But if you’re not familiar with Lorcana and have tons of questions (maybe even starting with, “What is it??”), don’t worry, we’re here to help! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. I asked a member of the DFB team who’s a certified Lorcana superfan to break it down as simply as possible and answer the most common questions they get. Get ready, because it’s time for Disney Lorcana 101! What IS Disney Lorcana? Disney Lorcana is an official trading card game (TCG) made by Ravensburger in which players take on the role of “Illumineers,” powerful wizards who use magical ink to summon Disney characters known as glimmers. Lorcana Cards The game has a focus on deckbuilding and customization, with players building custom decks of at least 60 cards using up to two ink colors that they use for gameplay. The objective is to reach 20 lore (think of “lore” as “points”) before your opponents. So, Is It Like Pokémon? Kind of! It’s similar to other popular games like Pokémon and Magic: The Gathering in a few ways — Lorcana is also a trading card game, there are different card rarities, and you get to battle other players’ decks. Lorcana Card Decks But it’s definitely not identical! There’s also an overarching story at play in Lorcana, and the gameplay itself works differently than Pokémon or Magic: The Gathering. How Do I Get Started With Lorcana? For someone brand-new to the game, the easiest way to get started is with the Lorcana Gateway Board Game Box. It includes everything you need as a newbie, and it literally feels like Disney is holding your hand and walking you through each step! ©Amazon Starting off with the Lorcana Gateway is super helpful since it’s so easy to follow the steps laid out in the game. The Ravensburger YouTube channel also has a walkthrough guide that breaks it down pretty simply as well! Get the Gateway Box on Amazon Do the Card Colors Matter? Yes! There are six different “ink types” (AKA colors) that each card could potentially sport: amber, amethyst, emerald, ruby, sapphire, or steel. Our Lorcana cards! When you build a deck, you’re only allowed to use two ink types. Each one has strengths and weaknesses, so the idea is to strategize how you plan to win and make choices that support their strengths and cover their weaknesses! How Many Cards Do I Need? Your deck MUST HAVE at least 60 cards. You can go bigger than that as well, but that can be tricky if there are certain actions/characters/items, etc., that you want to increase your chance of pulling each round. Lorcana Cards In other words, 60 cards is the minimum, and from there, you’ll have to weigh the risks and rewards to decide if you want to go bigger! Can I Have Duplicate Cards in My Deck? Yes, duplicate cards are allowed in your deck, but there is a maximum number of repeat cards allowed. Lorcana Cards You’re only allowed a maximum of four of the same card in your deck. Is the Game Competitive? Yes, the main Lorcana game is competitive. But there are also cooperative sets that you can purchase to shake things up! The most recent cooperative game on the market is The Great Hunny Rescue. ©Amazon In The Great Hunny Rescue, you get to team up with other Lorcana players to take down the big baddie…. The VINE! Get It On Amazon What Are the Rarity Levels of the Cards? Like we mentioned earlier, similar to Pokémon, there are different rarity levels for each of the Lorcana cards. From most common to least common, the rarity levels are: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Super Rare, Legendary, Enchanted, Epic, Iconic. Each Card Has a Rarity Level! If you find a Legendary card, you’ve got a good pull. But if you hit Enchanted and above, you’re LIVING LARGE! How Can I Tell the Rarity of a Card? The rarity is indicated by a small symbol at the bottom middle of the card. The Symbol at the Bottom of the Cards Shows Their Rarity! For example, the gold pentagon at the bottom of the Goofy card in the above photo indicates the rarity is Legendary, and the silver square (partially under our thumb) on the Bolt card means Super Rare. Can I Get Into Lorcana Casually? Sure! The artwork on the cards is genuinely really cool, and some people might prefer collecting just for the neat Disney character art and the thrill of seeing which cards you pull. Disney Lorcana cards But if our experience is any indication… you will go into this thinking you will not get hooked. You will be wrong. Just look at our ever-expanding decks for the evidence! We’ll be on the lookout for future Lorcana news and upcoming drops, so stay tuned to DFB for all the latest updates! View the full article

  14. I will never forget walking into Tomorrowland and seeing an empty spot where Astro Orbiter used to be in Magic Kingdom. Well, maybe it wasn’t what I saw, but what I didn’t see, and that was the ENTIRE attraction. During a recent refurbishment of the spinning ride, they removed the entire thing from the top of the PeopleMover before returning it to its normal spot. It was weird. Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland Well, another refurbishment has been announced for Astro Orbiter, but luckily, this closure is much shorter than last time. Astro Orbiter will be closed from January 5th to 7th next year and will reopen on January 8th. Only three days this year! Thank goodness! In 2025, it was a six month refurbishment, so this is much smaller. Astro Orbiter Planned refurbishments are very common across Disney World attractions, and from most popular attractions to ones that never have a wait, they all need a little love every now and again to keep them running smoothly. Since the 2025 refurbishment was so long and thorough, we’re a little surprised it’s also going for another fix, but at least it’s only a few days. The ride originally opened in 1994 when Tomorrowland was going through an overhaul. When it was totally missing In Magic Kingdom, it feels like Tomorrowland is going through another overhaul. TRON Lightcycle / Run opened in 2023, and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin went through an 8-month refurbishment which started in August 2025. It reopened in April this year with new blasters, ride vehicles, and targets. Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin is BACK! The Carousel of Progress is now going under a major overhaul and is set to reopen in Spring 2027. They’re changing up all the scenes to new decades, and while fans were originally nervous about the changes, many have been speaking out about how excited they are for the update. Disney Imagineering has taken great care with the ride’s history, and we’re thrilled to see the new changes. ©Disney Now, if you’re in a total mood for spinning rides (which we understand), there are two more that you can check out while in Magic Kingdom. Dumbo the Flying Elephant is one of the most iconic and perfect for your child’s first ride and the best photos. The Magic Carpets of Aladdin is another classic, and you can even catch Aladdin and Jasmine riding sometimes, which feels very magical. 15. If you’re going to go through ALL the effort to get up early during your Disney World trip, you better do it RIGHT! Hollywood Boulevard at Hollywood Studios Hitting the parks early can make a huge difference in the success of your day, but if you’re going to take advantage of perks like Early Theme Park Entry, you need a legitimate strategy. And as part of our go-to strategy, there’s one rule that we enforce for our Early Entry mornings! Early Theme Park Entry is a perk available to guests of Disney Resorts that allows you to enter the parks 30 minutes earlier than off-site guests. It applies to all four theme parks every day, and that head start for some of the rides and attractions can be a huge benefit. You’ve just got to use your time wisely! Cinderella Castle If you want to do Early Theme Park Entry during your visit, it’s imperative that you check the list of attractions available during that time for each park. For example, at Magic Kingdom, only Tomorrowland and Fantasyland are open for early entry, so if you tried to go to Haunted Mansion at 8:30 AM (on a day that the park opens at 9 AM), you wouldn’t be able to get in line or ride. Once you check the list of available rides, choose where you’re going first AHEAD of time. You don’t want to be locked into decision paralysis when you’re already inside the park. Early Park Entry for Resort Guests The good news is that most folks are pretty good at that first part. They have a ride they want to prioritize and plan to visit it first thing when Early Theme Park Entry starts. Unfortunately, the decision paralysis often comes into play if you get through that initial attraction quickly and don’t know where to go next. We call this the 8:45 AM problem. Fantasyland in Magic Kingdom Most of the year, three out of four of the Disney World parks open at 9 AM, which means Early Theme Park Entry starts at 8:30 AM. If you’re hoping to make the most of that time, you probably arrived well before 8:30, and then when Early Entry started, you were off to the races right away. That’ll put you in the first few batches of folks on your chosen ride, but THEN what?! Early Theme Park Entry We’ve seen it happen time and time again that Early Theme Park Entry goes smoothly at first, and then around 8:45 AM, there are families and groups who’ve already completed their first choice and are hovering around trying to decide where to go next. But you’re wasting precious time if you’re putting yourself in this position! If you wait too long, the off-property guests will be let inside the park, and you’ll lose the edge for getting into ride queues first. Early Entry into Disney’s Hollywood Studios So, the solution here is to have an initial ride that you want to do for each park, likely the ride on your to-do list with the longest projected wait time (or one you don’t have a Lightning Lane booked for), and then ALSO choose a second ride to head to once you finish the first. Even if you get in line for that second ride five minutes before the park opens for the day, that could make a massive difference in your wait time. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets When looking at this strategy, it’s a good idea to choose rides that are physically near each other, so you don’t waste time walking. For example, this could mean rope dropping Slinky Dog Dash in Hollywood Studios and then walking next door to Galaxy’s Edge to do Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. Or this could look like knocking out Seven Dwarfs Mine Train in Magic Kingdom and then heading for Peter Pan’s Flight. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train But here’s the thing — if you hesitate, you could ruin this strategy completely. My family squandered our time a bit when we found out that Slinky Dog Dash was closed during our Early Theme Park Entry time in Hollywood Studios. We panicked and rode Alien Swirling Saucers instead and then wasted more minutes deciding what to do before heading to Smugglers Run. By the time we got there, the park was about to open, and the wait was up to 45 minutes, because the queue was full of three groups of folks: 1) those who chose to rope drop that ride, 2) those who’d rope dropped Rise of the Resistance and headed there second, and 3) those who’d seen Slinky Dog Dash was closed and chose the closest “big” ride nearby instead. We skipped out on riding, and by the time the park opened, the only thing we had to show for our waking up early was a ride on Alien Swirling Saucers. Alien Swirling Saucers When developing your early entry strategy, come up with a main (hopeful) plan, along with a backup plan or two. You never know when a ride might have a delayed opening or a weather-related closure. And if things go wrong, you can quickly pivot and use your backup plan. Don’t get stuck with the 8:45 AM conundrum! EPCOT To see more rules we follow in Disney World to help make your trip better, check out the YouTube video below. 16. Even entering the holiday season doesn’t prevent closures at Disney World! All-Star Music Disney recently announced that a closure would be coming to a popular bar at Disney’s All-Star Music Resort. With no official end date in sight, this could end up being a lengthy closure. Let’s take a look at the details that we know so far, so we can plan accordingly. Disney announced that from November 2nd, 2026, through early 2027, Singing Spirits Pool Bar at Disney’s All-Star Music Resort will be closed for refurbishment. Disney hasn’t shared a specific opening date, and we can’t look for it ourselves, as the Disney World calendar doesn’t go past December 2026 right now. Singing Spirits During this time of closure, Disney did share that a temporary pool bar will be available nearby. So, guests can still sit by the pool with a drink in hand and relax in the sun. Disney hasn’t posted any details on the temporary bar as of right now, but we could be seeing something when the closure date hits next week. Singing Spirits Pool Bar If you’re traveling to Disney World this holiday season, and you’re staying at Disney’s All-Star Music Resort, you may see or hear construction activity in the area during daytime hours while the work is underway. Disney’s usually good at not being too much of a disturbance to guests, but they still will be working. Just something to be aware of. We love this bar! It’s been a year of construction for Disney World, so this is a fitting end to 2026. From hotels to the parks, we’ve been seeing closures, reopenings, and transformations throughout the year. With massive projects like Monstropolis in Hollywood Studios, Tropical Americas in Animal Kingdom, and Piston Peak and Villains Land in Magic Kingdom still being worked on, the construction trend will continue next year. Although we’re super excited for everything that’s on the way! 17. When I went to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party for the first time, I felt like I would never get everything done. From trying to get a spot for the fireworks, the parade, and that castle show, I can’t forget meeting characters and special snacks, and ahhhhh, it was so much! Disney World just announced the showtimes for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, and here’s everything you need to know! Here’s a look at all the showtimes: Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party This parade is a fan favorite and where you’ll see some of the most iconic characters of the party. You’ll see the Toy Soldiers and plenty of Disney characters along the route. Of course, Santa is also part of it, and it lasts about 25 minutes. You can catch it in a few different places in the park, including by Frontierland, which typically has fewer crowds, and closer to the castle and Main Street, U.S.A. It will run at 8:30 PM and 11 PM. Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration This stage show is right in front of the castle! You’ll get to see Mickey and all the friends in their Christmas outfits. There’s some super fun music, and Clarabelle Cow sings “All I Want for Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey, which is pretty iconic if you ask us. You can watch it at 7:40 PM, 9:25 PM, 10:35 PM, and 11:55 PM. You’ll want to be toward the front of the castle to see everything. Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party This fireworks show plays only once a night at 10 PM, so you don’t want to miss it! We think the best place to watch is in front of the castle so you can see all the projections and the fireworks above it, but you can also catch it from other locations like Fantasyland and Tomorrowland; just keep in mind you probably won’t see everything. Fireworks To catch everything, make sure you’re still prioritizing. Maybe you want to watch the fireworks in front of the castle but the parade from Frontierland so you don’t have to line up as early. There are also multiple showtimes for the castle stage show and parade, but only one for the fireworks. You can see them all, but you might not have as much time for snacks, character meet-and-greets, and rides. 20. There might be nothing more annoying than showing up to your theme park for the day and then realizing you didn’t check the park hours, and now you’re staring at a gate and will be there for the next hour. While getting there early is certainly better than getting there late, it’s still annoying to realize you got up early for nothing! Tree of Life That’s why we’re here. Park hours are pretty consistent at Disney World depending on the time of year, but sometimes we’re totally thrown off by a random change. Whether EPCOT opens late for runDisney events or Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom close early for Jollywood Nights and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, another park can be thrown into the mix with different hours. Animal Kingdom will open late on Sunday, November 15th, and it will open at 9 AM instead of 8 AM. Early Entry will start at 8:30 AM and run until 9 AM instead of the usual 7:30 AM to 8:00 AM. The park will close at 8 PM, which is later than usual! KEVIN! It’s a good idea to check the times for all of your theme park days, but we highly recommend it during the holiday season. Jollywood Nights and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party run on select nights throughout November and December. Hollywood Studios will close to day guests at 7 PM on those days, and Magic Kingdom closes at 6 PM. Guests with the tickets can enter the parks at 5:30 PM and 6 PM, respectively, and we find that’s when the parks get busy. The line at Jollywood Nights! You don’t necessarily need to avoid the parks when they close early, since those parks usually have low wait times because many guests choose another park. If you have a Park Hopper ticket, which lets you switch from one park to the next whenever you want, you can take advantage of the low crowds before heading to another park. It’s also great for an evening at the hotel pool or a visit to Disney Springs, but if you want the most park action, you’ll want to pick different days to go. Crowds at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Back to Animal Kingdom! Animal Kingdom tends to close obnoxiously early, so it’s another good park to pair with a Park Hopper or alternative park plans. Many guests visit Animal Kingdom for only one day during their trip, but if your family loves the atmosphere, entertainment, and food, you might want to add an extra hour or choose a second day. For this random day, 8 PM is pretty late, so it’s a great time for some late-night rides on Everest. Walking around Animal Kingdom The park doesn’t do too much for the holidays, but a fan favorite is the Merry Menagerie. These Arctic-themed puppets hang out by the stores in front of the Tree of Life, and they might be the most adorable thing we’ve ever seen. We love seeing them every single year and learning their names. 25. Major changes are on the way for the My Disney Experience app and the Disney World website. Disney has already announced a commitment to using AI tool, including a new vacation planner that relies on AI to help Disney World visitors plan their trips. ©Disney Well, this new AI planning tool has already rolled out to some users, and we’ve got a first look at how it works and what it does. And honestly? Well, we know a lot of folks were against an AI vacation planner, but we’ve already found it to be really helpful. If you log in to the Disney World website, you may see a new option in the box where you would search for hotels and vacation packages. This option says “Guided Search — BETA.” This is the beta version of the new AI-powered vacation planning feature that Disney is currently testing. Note that this is only now showing for select visitors to the website, so you may not see it yet. ©Disney If you click on that, though, you’ll get to try a new vacation planning experience using AI to find a Disney World vacation that meets your budget and needs. If you click on “Get Started,” you can…well, get started (simple enough, right?). We decided to look for hotel and ticket packages. You can also just choose to search for park tickets. ©Disney Select your dates and the number of adults. However, you can also tell the AI planner to be flexible with dates to help you potentially get better deals. ©Disney Here’s what the flexible screen looks like: you just choose a month. ©Disney Before you start your search, you can also ask the AI a question to narrow down what you’re looking for. So we asked the search to work with our $200 per night budget and told it our favorite park is EPCOT. Note that asking it a question is optional, and you can just click on “Skip for now.” ©Disney Then we got our results. The vacation planner showed us all of the hotels available in November 2026 between $100 and $200 per night, from those that are closest to EPCOT to those that are further away. You can see how helpful this might be if you’re planning your trip with a specific budget in mind. ©Disney There is also a section on the page to plan your trip. ©Disney When you click on a hotel, the planner will automatically choose your dates if you’re flexible. However, you can change those, and the calendar will show you different prices. Seriously, we loved being able to compare prices like this in one place! This is already a game changer. We also loved how user-friendly it is. ©Disney You can also look for specific discounts and offers (you’ll see a button at the top to do that), but it looks like it automatically applies those when you search, so that’s one less thing you have to keep track of. We also searched just for tickets, and it worked the same. So if you’ve been wondering how this AI vacation planner works, well, wonder no longer! We think this could be a helpful tool for a lot of folks who want to book their trips themselves, although we still don’t think it will replace an actual Disney World travel agent if you really need help and a more personal touch booking those trips. We’ll keep an eye out for more Disney World updates, so stay tuned to DFB for more. 26. Has McDonald’s been secretly killing it with their Happy Meals lately?! McDonald’s in Disney World We’ve been raving about McDonald’s Happy Meal’s lately, and honestly, we think it’s totally justified. They recently dropped Disney Villain Boo Buckets, which we were obsessed with, and now they’ve teased a new collection coming on November 10th. We’re going to have to start saving our money, because we’ll need to catch ’em all (wink wink)! McDonald’s is teaming up with Pokémon to bring a whole new set of toys, and we already know collectors are going to go crazy! The collection will feature toys of 15 different Pokémon as mini Happy Meal boxes. Each toy will have a keyring attached to it, so you can clip it to bags and other things ©Pokemon There will be three different types of Happy Meal boxes that you can get, and each box will have one of 15 different toy options and two Pokémon cards. The Pokémon Happy Meal will officially drop in the United States on November 10th. The three boxes that will be featured for this Happy Meal are themed to Pikachu, Umbreon, and Tochic. ©McDonald’s Maybe you can pair the Happy Meal with one of the new holiday drinks dropping at McDonald’s on November 3rd. The new lineup of drinks includes: Cookie Butter Frappé, Latte, and Iced Coffee: A creamy blend of rich cookie butter flavors topped with caramel cookie crumbs and sweet vanilla whip for a seasonal treat. Red Bull Frosted Cranberry Energizer: Combines the bold, uplifting flavor of Frosted Cranberry with cold foam and sprinkles, with the energizing boost of Red Bull, made for packed holiday schedules and festive adventures.
