  3. If you’ve got a Disney World trip coming up, you’ll want to be aware of a refurbishment that just hit a popular resort! Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort There has been a ton, and we mean a TON, of construction taking place at Disney World in 2026. From hotel refurbishments to ride changes to expansions, Disney World has been in a constant state of change lately. Now, a NEW refurb has hit Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort. The tennis courts at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort are currently closed for a refresh. Disney is resurfacing the two clay courts, and they’ll be closed from late August through November 2026. Disney has not shared an exact reopening date. Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort The refurbishment is just for the tennis courts, so it’s nothing you will need to worry about during your stay unless you want to use the courts. Saratoga Springs Resort That’s not all that’s happening at Saratoga Springs, as the Turf Club Bar & Grill is now officially closed for refurbishment. Currently, Disney hasn’t listed a reopening date, so it’s unclear when the refurbishment will be complete. The restaurant should open back up in mid-September if Disney decides to stick with their originally announced schedule from March. The Turf Club Bar & Grill! Yes, there are two closures at Saratoga Springs, but it’s not all bad news at this popular resort. The Turf Club Lounge has finally reopened at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort after being closed since late April 2026! Disney staggered the closures of the lounge and the restaurant, so now that the restaurant has closed, the lounge has reopened. Turf Club Lounge The lounge has a completely new look, with new tables and chairs, new carpeting, and a brand-new menu! We wasted no time checking out the refurbished lounge, and we recommend going to try it out, too! New bar! We’re always keeping an eye out for the latest Disney news and updates. 4. The EPCOT area hotels are some of our favorites to stay at. You’re right near tons of dining options at the other hotels just a few minutes away, you’re steps away from EPCOT, as well as only a few moments away from getting on the Skyliner or a FriendShip boat and getting to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Beach Club Resort However, if you’re staying here this week, there’s something you need to know about that may affect your nighttime routine — especially if you’ve got littles. There’s fireworks testing happening tonight, and we’ve got all the information you need to know. If you’re staying at Disney’s Beach Club Resort, or any of the EPCOT area hotels, you’ll likely find these warning signs in your hotel lobby today. Tonight, September 1st, from 10 PM to 1:30 AM on September 2nd, there will be fireworks testing happening nearby. This means it’s very likely you’ll be able to hear at least some of the testing from your hotel room. Fireworks testing Fortunately, this is only happening tonight, but it’s very important that you know ahead of time so you can plan. We recommend using some earplugs, if you have them, and checking your hotel’s gift shop if you’re concerned that the sound will disrupt your sleep or others in your party. If you happened to pack a sound machine, tonight will be a GREAT time to bump it up a few notches to cover the sounds. Stormalong Bay Looking for more recent Disney World hotel news? 5. September is here, and that means new menus at Disney World! Pumpkin Bread Chocolate Crumb Cookie We check the menus every month (okay, we check them every day, but we know what we’re looking for when the calendar switches over), and Gideon’s Bakehouse releases a new menu for Disney Springs every month. As one of our favorite cookie spots in all of Disney World, you know we have to check it out. Just wait till you see the menu this month! The limited-time flavor for September is Pumpkin Bread Chocolate Chip Cookie! It’s made with a pumpkin spice blend, a little chocolate on the inside (but not too much), and plenty of pumpkin butter crumbs on top. It will be available every day of the month with a limit of two per person. We’ve tried this cookie before and totally fell in love with it. It’s the perfect combination of pumpkin and chocolate without there being too much of either. ©Gideon’s Bakehouse You can also grab the Pumpkin Caramel Double Frosted Cake. This cake is covered in a layer of caramel buttercream, then topped with another full layer of pumpkin cream cheese buttercream. There’s also a unique vanilla cinnamon swirl cake that is soft and crumbly. It’s available by the slice every Wednesday and Saturday in September. ©Gideon’s Don’t forget to grab the Pumpkin Chai Nitro Cold Brew! ©Gideon’s The menu features Dr. Tobias Brimstone this month, marking the first time since January 2022 that this character has been brought back. You can grab a collectible menu when you visit Disney Springs. Hmmm, doesn’t he look like a pretty popular Disney Imagineer? ©Gideon’s You’ll also be able to grab Dr. Tobias Travel Stamp Sticker⁣ • Dr. Tobias Morsels Pin⁣ • Dr. Tobias Morsels Beverage Sleeve ⁣ • Dr. Tobias Adventurers T-Shirt⁣ • All Hallows Scented Candles ©Gideon’s Gideon’s also promised that they’re working on a huge project! It’s the 10th anniversary of their East End location, and it sounds like they’re going to have a celebration. ©Gideon’s We love Gideon’s, and we’re so excited to try the new flavors! 6. There are many Disney World hotel rooms to choose from. Do you want one with the best slide on-property? Or the closest to Magic Kingdom so you can see the castle and fireworks? Or maybe one with your family’s favorite restaurants? Swan and Dolphin There’s a massive reason everyone is booking this hotel in November, and you’re going to want to join in. Good food, great drinks, and a whole lot of fun can only mean one event is almost here! The Food & Wine Classic at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort is perfect for foodies and anyone looking to spice up their Disney World trip. The festival is packed with dishes and drinks from different chefs and restaurants, giving you a chance to try a wide range of great offerings. 2025 Live Entertainment For the event, they’re offering a special room rate! If you buy a Food & Wine Classic ticket, you can call the hotel (888.828.8850), and if you mention the Food & Wine rate, you get in on a discount. The rate depends on the length of stay, room style, and dates. Swan Reserve rooms You can grab this discounted room rate for up to 4 days pre- and post-event. The event runs on November 20th and 21st, each night from 5 PM to 9 PM, giving you plenty of time to eat and drink. The Dolphin Hotel Looking at rooms, we saw some from $383, and that’s without the discount. Once you add that in, you’re ready for a full trip to Disney World! There’s so much to do in November, including the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, and Jollywood Nights. There’s so much to eat! We go to the Food & Wine Classic every year, and it’s not one to miss. The menus have been announced, and along with some of our favorites, there are new ones to try! The ticket includes unlimited food and drinks throughout the night, so it can be a great deal if you love trying everything. CHECK OUT THE FULL MENUS HERE! So much to try We loved the Slow Braised Wagyu Beef Short Rib from Bourbon Steak… Bourbon Steak Dish …and we had the Burnt Ends and Pimento Melt from The Fountain last year. This year, they’ll have a Mini Smash Burger and a French Dip Grilled Cheese, and we’re going to need both because they sound so good. Burnt Ends and Pimento Melt One thing we really love about the festival is how everything is included. It can be exhausting to constantly pull out your card and see the transactions add up, up, up. Everything is included in this flat rate. While we use it to try tons of food, if you find your favorite, you can grab more! Let’s eat! There’s also live music and entertainment, which turn the whole area into a lively event. Wine, music, and burgers? Say less! We’re so excited about this event, and you won’t want to miss the room rate discount if you’re planning to visit. 7. When it comes to visiting Walt Disney World in September, rain is a MAJOR factor. Frogg Toggs Poncho While Central Florida has its fair share of precipitation throughout the year, there’s an uptick in September as it’s usually around the height of Atlantic Hurricane Season. Plus, since temperatures at the end of the month will tend to start dipping, guests drenched from the rain won’t dry off nearly as fast as they do at the height of summer. That’s why we ALWAYS have this essential from Amazon on-hand during September visits. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. The Frogg Toggs Poncho is Our GO-TO For Disney World! FROGG TOGGS Poncho We have tried A LOT of ponchos at Disney World over the years, and this is BY FAR our favorite, especially for the kind of rainy weather you may encounter during Atlantic Hurricane Season in September. This poncho — available on Amazon in multiple colors, including this striking hot pink — had several features that we simply adore. The material allowed the rain to slip right off, and between that and the lack of sleeves, we didn’t feel steamed or hot underneath. On top of that, the poncho was large enough that our backpack was able to fit underneath it comfortably, while still keeping the bag and our backs completely covered from the rain. ©Amazon If all that wasn’t enough, the poncho even comes with a waterproof storage bag, meaning we were able to quickly pack it up and throw it in our backpack as soon as the storm ended without worrying about anything in there getting wet. Frogg Toggs Poncho The Frogg Toggs Poncho is absolutely a 100% must-have for your trip — especially in the rainier parts of the year — and they even offer child sizes! SHOP HERE If you’re heading to Disney World in September, be sure to pick up a Frogg Toggs Poncho on Amazon before you head out, and stay tuned to DFB each week for more Amazon finds! 8. Another reopening is coming to Disney World! Lake Buena Vista Golf Course We’ve been waiting for the Lake Buena Vista Golf Course to reopen, and that day is coming up soon. Grab your golf clubs and let’s hit the greens. The Lake Buena Vista Golf Course is reopening on October 23rd. Reservations are now open, so you can book your slots! Lake Buena Vista Golf Course The course closed in May with a promise of enhancements, including renovated greens, chipping area modifications, upgraded irrigation systems, and a new drainage system. It’s the former home of several big-time events over the years on the PGA Tour, LPGA Tour, and USGA, so you can feel part of the history when playing. ©Disney It’s located near Disney Springs, so it’s fun to catch lunch or a drink at the shopping district before heading over with your clubs. You’re able to rent golf carts, and there’s a pro shop with rentals in case you don’t want to bring your own clubs. ©Disney Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Cafe will also reopen, one of the dining spots near the course. Welcome to Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Cafe One of Disney World’s other courses, the Magnolia Golf Course, recently underwent a reimagining. Four of the holes, known as Grumpy’s Gauntlet, got a super cool Grumpy statue, and you’ll have to navigate through massive bunkers, tricky doglegs, and some of the course’s most undulating greens. ©Disney Make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more Disney news along with everything you need to know for the best trip ever. 9. It’s a sad day when it’s announced that a project many people were looking forward to has been abandoned or canceled. ©Disney We’ve seen a lot of show cancelations this year already, and now, a live action project we were looking forward to seeing come to Disney+ has now been abandoned. Prepare yourselves — some of you may be more than devastated by this news. Variety has reported that sources close to the Gargoyles live-action remake have confirmed that the reboot has been abandoned. The project was being produced by Disney+, and it was announced back in 2023 that the company was working with writer Gary Dauberman and James Wan’s Atomic Monster to bring the live-action to life. The original Disney animated series aired from 1994 to 1997. ©Disney It was pretty dark for Disney at the time, and according to IMDb, the logline for the original series was, “A clan of heroic night creatures pledge to protect modern New York City as they did in Scotland one thousand years earlier.” The show had a total of 78 episodes over its three-year run. When Greg Weisman, co-creator of the original series, was asked about the live-action in an interview, he stated, “That’s dead. I have no idea about animation, but there are no current plans for live-action.” IMDbPro currently lists the live-action reboot as abandoned as of August 31st, 2026. ©IMDbPro This isn’t the first time a reboot or continuation of the series has been talked about or desired, but this is certainly the furthest one has gotten. The original series has quite the strong following, so we’re holding out hope that someday a reboot will happen and bring our childhoods back to life. 10. The Turf Club Lounge has reopened at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, and we’re bringing you all the details to you right here! Turf Club Lounge The lounge has been undergoing a refurbishment, but it’s now back with an updated look and menu. The resort is only a short walk or boat ride from Disney Springs, and might be the best place to escape the park chaos and relax. Ready to see if you need to add this spot to your Disney World bucket list? Atmosphere The Turf Club Lounge is finally reopened after being closed since April 2026. The lounge is attached to the Turf Club Bar & Grill, which is currently closed for refurbishment, but staggered closures give guests more time to check out the spaces. Turf Club Lounge revamped space It’s open from 11 AM to 11 PM, giving you a great excuse to escape the park chaos and relax here at the end of the day. With the renovation, there are new tables and chairs along with carpeting. Beautiful views The brand-new bar looks spectacular as well. The whole space felt welcoming, and we think we’re going to spend a lot of hours here. New bar! Enough about the space, let’s get onto the menu! Menu The lounge offers plenty of drinks, shareable appetizers, and easy lunches or quick meals. With the refurbishment, they added some new menu items, including the Pretzel Charcuterie, and as soon as Disney released photos of it, we knew we NEEDED to try it. New Lounge menu Now that we know the menu, let’s eat! Eats We grabbed the Pretzel Charcuterie for $18, which has prosciutto, salami, pimento cheese, New York white cheddar, beer cheese, grain mustard, and pickled vegetables. Pretzel Charcuterie We’re so glad they upgraded their classic hanging pretzel because this was stellar! The homemade pimento cheese is so creamy, with plenty of that peppery taste, and was a great addition to the plate. We also loved the prosciutto and salami, and the pickled vegetables were a nice surprise. The cauliflower was spicy and crunchy and paired really well with the plate. Sharable The other additions, like the beer cheese and mustard, are more classic for a charcuterie board and, overall, created a great plate. This was a huge appetizer, so make sure you bring at least two people to share! Good pretzel, too! We also had the Herbed Grilled Chicken Sandwich, which our server recommended. It costs $19 and includes fresh mozzarella, crispy prosciutto, tomato confit, and focaccia, served with seasoned waffle fries. Herbed Grilled Chicken Sandwich Another upgrade we can get behind! We were a little distracted by how good the fries are, and you can ask for a side of their spiced, house-made aioli for dipping, which is totally worth it. Don’t even look at that ketchup; go for the aioli. Our reporter said this is “absolutely the most crave-worthy potato side I’ve had in quite a long time.” Get the aioli! The sandwich is also a total winner. The pesto was great, and the mozzarella was melted on top. There was also crispy prosciutto on it, which we didn’t know we needed in a sandwich, but we have no idea how we’ll ever live without it. A total hit Drinks To drink, we grabbed the Mint Julep for $19, which features Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon muddled with fresh mint and agave nectar. Mint Julep This was such a classic take on the mint julep! It’s even served in the classic metal cup just like the Kentucky Derby. It’s full of bourbon and mint, and ice cold with perfectly chipped ice. It’s a strong cocktail, so you’ll probably only need one, but it was incredibly delicious. The mint was well-balanced, and the ice was made with their specialty icemaker, which, as it melts, allows it to mellow out. We will definitely be getting this again. Classic Nosh or Not You should head to the Turf Club Lounge if… You’re looking for a lounge atmosphere with great food — There are quite a few lounges around Disney World, but this one has our heart. The food and drinks were excellent, and the atmosphere was very relaxing. You need late-night bites — We’re so happy the Turf Club Lounge is open till 11 PM, because it can be hard to find food late at night around Disney World. Whether you’re coming back from a long park day or escaping the hotel room in the evening, this is a great spot. You want a night out without a full restaurant experience — If you’re looking for a great date night without the hassles of a full restaurant, this could be the place. It felt intimate without being fancy and was really enjoyable. This might be a skip if… You’re not staying at Saratoga Springs or Disney Springs — While the food and drinks are great, you probably don’t need to go completely out of your way to eat here when there are closer options. You want more family-friendly dishes — Kids are welcome at the Turf Club Lounge, but there isn’t a menu that particularly caters towards the little ones here You’re ready for something more affordable — $19 mint juleps aren’t the cheapest drinks on property, while you generally can’t find drinks under $10; these are a bit steep for a quick night out. We can’t wait to come back! Overall We had a fantastic job at Turf Club Lounge and will definitely be back again. We’re so happy with all the upgrades, from the seating to the waffle fries and all the other bites in between. We thought the dishes were easy to share, and the drink was one of our favorites. This was a great spot to escape all the chaos and enjoy some late-night bites. You will find us here time and time again! In the meantime, make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more of our favorite restaurant reviews that you need to know before heading to Disney World yourself. 11. Texas is about to get a lot more thrilling with a new theme park opening soon. ©Cotaland COTALAND, the long-awaited theme park built into the grounds of Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, has officially confirmed its opening date of September 26, 2026 — and with it, a full lineup of 34 rides and attractions for guests to enjoy on day one. A Theme Park Built for Speed COTALAND sits trackside at COTA, tucked between turns 19 and 20 of the Formula 1 circuit, giving it a motorsports identity unlike any other park in the country. The roughly 30-acre park blends classic amusement park staples — carousels, log flumes, swinging ships — with racing-themed thrills that lean directly into its location next to a world-class raceway. Guests can expect heavily shaded pathways (COTALAND has reportedly planted hundreds of trees around the grounds), themed lands like a jungle-set Safari Adventure and a butterfly conservatory, and a mix of full-service dining and grab-and-go snack stands serving Texas comfort food alongside international flavors and sweets. ©Cotaland The Headliner Coasters Two roller coasters are drawing most of the buzz ahead of opening day: Circuit Breaker is Texas’ first tilt coaster and only the second of its kind in North America. Riders climb to the top of the track, pause at a 90-degree tilt facing straight down toward the ground, then release into a high-speed run through drops, tunnels, and inversions. Palindrome is the country’s first infinity shuttle coaster, and the only steel coaster in the U.S. built to soar over an active roadway. It sends riders through its course forward, then backward, for a genuinely one-of-a-kind layout. ©Cotaland The Full 34-Ride Lineup Here’s the complete list of what’s opening, organized by thrill intensity, along with each ride’s minimum height requirement. 14. Is October 1st circled in your Disney World calendar? No? Well, it should be because the Hurly-Burly is opening at Disney’s BoardWalk! ©Disney Disney just shared the opening date along with a look at the menu, and we’re already totally obsessed. The Hurly-Burly is taking over the old Jellyrolls building, so it’s a big space with lots of room for fun. Now, nearly a hundred years later, Hurly-Burly is opening its doors once again and entertainment offerings, vintage drinks and lite bites inspired by an era of world-class performances and nautical novelty.” Now that sounds awesome! Hurly-Burly During the afternoons, there will be lively activities such as trivia and games for the whole family, but once 9 PM hits, it will be available for guests ages 21 and up. There will be live music and a walk-up window for select beverages on the BoardWalk. Here’s a look at the menu! 15. Hold onto your hats! I’m here to present you with a first look at the menu for Hurly-Burly, opening at Disney’s BoardWalk on October 1. Step inside this historic seaside theater, once the home of the BoardWalk’s most celebrated vaudeville performers. Now, nearly a hundred years later, Hurly-Burly is opening its doors once again with entertainment offerings, vintage drinks and lite bites inspired by an era of world class performances and nautical novelty! During the afternoons, pop in for lively activities such as trivia and games designed for the whole family. Then, beginning at 9 p.m., experience vibrant evenings of live music for guests ages 21 and older. And of course, this turn-of-the-century theater would not be complete without a nostalgic all-day menu to match, and this one is certain to knock your socks off! Get ready to indulge in shareable appetizers and small plates inspired by classic boardwalk fare. Snack on the savory Meatballs in Tomato Gravy, a classic dish that the whole family will enjoy. Or opt for some headlining small plates including the Roast Beef Sliders, the Oven-Roasted Shrimp, and the Tomato Pie. And for a sweet grand finale, I present to you the Mini Apple Cider Doughnuts. As for libations, we’ve got some stars. For our guests over 21, sip on the Mertini, a twist on your classic gin martini and an ode to maritime melodrama gone by at this theater. Enjoy modern takes on classic cocktails such as the Overproof Amaretto Sour, made with Old Forester 1920 Prohibition Style bourbon, and the La Taquilla Picante, which translates to “The Hot Ticket,” a spicy margarita garnished with a spiced nutmeg rim. For our guests of all ages, the Overture in Orange is a nostalgic orange and creamy frozen treat. And for coffee lovers like me, sip on the Caramel Corn Cold Brew, topped with caramel sweet cream, and caramel popcorn. And if you’re looking for a libation as you stroll Disney’s BoardWalk, stop by the Hurly-Burly walk-up window for select beverages! I don’t know about you, but I have certainly worked up an appetite. Without further ado, let’s peek behind the curtain at the bites and sips taking center stage! 16. The EPCOT Food & Wine Festival is officially underway, and we were there on opening day trying ALL of the new items! The EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival But the day wasn’t filled with all sunshine and rainbows… There were quite a few weird, hilarious, and shocking things that happened to us on opening day. Some were unfortunate, some were things we could laugh about (after), and some were just, let’s just say, soggy? 1. Chips Down! This year’s Japan booth serves up several hand rolls, a teriyaki chicken bun, and a drink served with… potato chips? Well, during our time here, we had an incident with the Mango-Apple Fruit Pearl drink paired with the Wasabi-Soy Sauce flavored Potato Chips. The chips decided to fly right off our tray and over the railing! Unfortunately, we couldn’t get to them after it happened, so we had to go back for some more. Goodbye, chips. We hardly knew you. REVIEW: This EPCOT Food & Wine Festival Booth Always Delivers, But Did It Deliver This Year? 2. Our Backpack Got A Taste Of The Food We’re not going anywhere because this happened in the Japan Pavilion, too! While we were trying to balance our food on our tray, our food ended up spilling everywhere, but our backpack caught most of it! Now not only did we have a spill, but our backpack also smelled like sushi, wasabi chips, and apple drink! AND this was one of the first booths we went to, so you could imagine how it smelled the rest of the day… That’s one way to carry food in your park bag… 5 Things That Already Went WRONG at the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival 3. We Hid From The Rain In Jasmine’s Meet & Greet Building The rain was STRONG on the first day of the Food & Wine Festival — so strong that we found ourselves hiding in whatever pavilion we were in at the time! Well, one of our reporters was hiding in a little corner in Morocco by the Jasmine meet & greet location, and after a few minutes, a lovely Cast Member saw us and asked if we wanted to wait for the rain to subside INSIDE the meet & greet building! We are forever grateful to this Cast Member for keeping us dry! The Jasmine meet & greet in Morocco REVIEW: We Finally Got NEW Menu Items At This EPCOT Food & Wine Booth 4. Rain = Flooded Dishes When I say the rain was heavy, I mean the rain was STRONG! Areas around the park were flooded, and it even flooded our dishes! While we were in the Canada Pavilion, it started to DOWNPOUR, and on our way to find shelter, the rain got to our food. So, instead of having the Filet Mignon with mushrooms and mashed potatoes as is, we had it as a soup! It was still delicious though, don’t worry! The Filet Mignon REVIEW: The CHEAP Canadian Cheese Soup Is BACK At EPCOT! 5. The China Pavilion Turned Into A Pool Sticking to the topic of rain, the China Pavilion got SO flooded that the center turned into a pool! Kids (and adults) were running and splashing around in the area in front of the Temple of Heaven. While they may have found a rash or two later, at least they were having fun at the time! Look at this rain! REVIEW: We’re Already Going Back For Seconds At This EPCOT Food & Wine Booth 6. We’re Still Finding Chocolate Under Our Nails… On Morocco’s food booth menu this year, they are serving up a Chocolate-Pistachio Cookie, and while it’s delicious, it’s also VERY melty. While we were taking photos of it and tearing it apart, the chocolate got EVERYWHERE — all over our hands and under our fingernails. The reporter who tore this cookie apart was still scrubbing off chocolate over 24 hours after this happened! So, if you’re grabbing this cookie, make sure to grab some napkins, too! Look at this chocolate mess! The Unspoken Disney World Rule You Should Follow at the Morocco Pavilion in EPCOT 7. The Weather Isn’t The Only Thing Burning Up In Florida Be prepared with an oven mitt for one of the items at Regal Eagle Smokehouse because the second we picked it up, we literally DROPPED it because of how hot it was. The Blackberry Buckle is served hot…in a metal tin. Don’t worry, we’re okay — no emergency room visit required! Blackberry Buckle REVIEW: This Majorly Underrated EPCOT Food and Wine Drink Will Be On Our Minds For Weeks 8. These Chicken Wings Were So Hot That They Burned Our EYES! The Brew-Wing Lab in the Odyssey Pavilion is known for having some pretty wacky and pretty HOT chicken wings. The Unnecessarily Spicy Yet Extremely Tasty Carolina Reaper Pepper-Curry Wings have returned to the festival this year, and not only did they burn our mouths, but we also got some in our EYES! Again, no emergency room visit needed, but be warned: if you grab these, keep them away from your eyes! Unnecessarily Spicy Yet Extremely Tasty Carolina Reaper Pepper-Curry Wings REVIEW: This Controversial Drink Is Back at the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival…and We Have Feelings About It 9. Another Backpack Mishap Occurred Yes, this was the day of unfortunate events for backpacks. One of our reporters set their backpack down in the America Pavilion by the Hops & Barley booth after it had rained, and let’s just say her backpack made some friends. When she picked it up, she found little millipedes all over the bottom! She counted 12 that I had to scrape off with a fork. Note to self: keep your backpack on after it rains. Hops & Barley These are just the things that happened on DAY ONE of the festival — there’s still nearly three months left! Stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more crazy Disney stories like this! 19. With all of the construction that has taken place at Disney World this year, it feels like we’ve been seeing permits pop up constantly. From refurbishments to rethemes to upcoming projects, a lot is going on! Magic Kingdom Disney World has recently filed not one, not two, but SIX new permits across the parks and resorts. We’re bringing you a full roundup so you can be up to speed on everything that’s going on! Skyliner Disney filed a permit for upcoming construction work on the Skyliner Station at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The permit gives Buena Vista Construction Company the right to “provide labor, material, and/or electrical for construction.” The permit was filed recently, on August 28th, with an expiration date of one year from the filing date. Disney Skyliner The Disney Skyliner will be closed for its annual refurbishment on January 24th, 2027, through January 30th, 2027. When the Skyliner is unavailable, there will be complimentary bus service offered. Skyliner station at Hollywood Studios Haunted Mansion After months of Haunted Mansion’s exterior being worked on, another permit was filed for the popular ride in Magic Kingdom. Haunted Mansion just revealed a brand-new look last month, and now Disney has filed a permit for “general construction” on the attraction. MLC Theming is the contractor listed on the permit, which specializes in themed construction, scenic painting, and exterior detailing. The permit expires on August 28th, 2027, and we don’t have any details on the work being done. It could be final touch-ups, or something a little bigger. We’ll be keeping an ear out for any news. Haunted Mansion Disney’s Boardwalk Another permit was filed by Disney for Disney’s Boardwalk Inn. The permit lists the description as “general refurbishment,” and although we don’t have many details from the permit, we feel like this is connected to the many things that are on the horizon for Disney’s Boardwalk. It could include the new Hurly Burly lounge, stores, and more. Construction at Boardwalk Kilimanjaro Safaris A permit was also filed for construction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, but more specifically for the Okapi building in Kilimanjaro Safaris. The contractor listed is Buena Vista Construction Company, and it’s to “provide labor, material, and/or electrical for construction.” Since it’s only for one enclosure in the Safari, we don’t expect the ride to close. Kilimanjaro Safaris Peco’s Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe Disney filed a permit for “general construction” on Peco’s Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe at Magic Kingdom. The listed contractor is MLC Theming, the same contractor listed for Haunted Mansion that specializes in themed construction, scenic painting, and exterior detailing. We’ll be looking out to see if a temporary closure could be hitting the restaurant. Peco’s Bill Interior Main Street This permit isn’t as big as the others, but it is another one that Disney has filed on this long list. The permit is to “install signage” for the Main Street Car Barn. We don’t have any other details on this project, but we’ll keep you updated with any news announced! Main Street, U.S.A. 20. Over the long history of Disney theme parks, there have been few projects as highly anticipated as Villains Land. Rumors of a full Magic Kingdom realm dedicated to Disney’s antagonists first emerged in the late 1990s, and fans have been daydreaming (or maybe “day-nightmaring?”) about the concept ever since. ©Disney Disney first confirmed that Villains Land was actually being built in 2024, and since then, the company has slowly dripped out news on the land’s design concepts, culminating in confirmation of the land’s official name — Villains Land (yes, really) — the land’s overall story, ride themes, and other elements at the 2026 D23 Ultimate Fan Event. However, these latest looks have us wondering something about the land. In addition to these details — and a video preview of the coaster — Disney also had a physical model of a tree from the forest on hand at D23. And little did we know, Disney had another big Villains reveal up their sleeve. Following the D23 panel, Disney released a new episode of their YouTube series “Pardon Our Pixie Dust” that previewed several major projects, including a full look at a model of Villains Land’s large Maleficent coaster, which will have guests come face-to-face with the Mistress of All Evil herself, as they “race through enchanted briar surrounding her frightening mountaintop fortress.” Looking at the close-up shots of the coaster model, the entire project looks like it will be frighteningly breathtaking, starting with its gargantuan scale. ©Disney Look at the size of the model compared to an in-scale human figure. (Also, how cool are those fists?) ©Disney The track itself weaves in and out of intricate rock work… ©Disney … making it appear to be an organic part of Maleficent’s twisted landscape. ©Disney There are also massive elements of a ruined castle. ©Disney However, just because the track seems designed around the landscape, that doesn’t mean the coaster will be lacking in thrills, and the model track features twists, turns, and curves… ©Disney … as well as what appear to be “close encounters” with some of the aforementioned rock work. ©Disney In addition to the coaster, the land will also be home to a second major attraction: A dark ride featuring a cavalcade of Disney Villains in which the Magic Mirror will “magically transport (guests) into his mystical Mirror Realm to see things on the other side of the mirror.  There, in his ethereal realm, (guests) will be transfixed by countless Disney Villains conjured in ways only the Magic Mirror can do. A combination of special effects and physical set pieces will bring his Mirror Realm.” ©Disney Both of these rides play into the land’s larger overall story. According to Disney’s newly released story synopsis for the area, Villains Land will offer an “original take” on the company’s antagonists, set in a “vast, foreboding forest.”  Guests who enter will “come across a Wishing Well that’s been torn asunder.  Under most circumstances, a Wishing Well would indicate pure and good energy at work, but something dark happened to this one.  Once upon a time, someone made an evil wish here – a wish so evil it corrupted the stone and broke open the structure, spreading the Well’s poisoned magic throughout the forest.” This release of poisoned magic will, in turn, draw in “villains who have come here to try and claim the last of the Wishing Well’s power.” Dark Forest All these new details — and this in-depth look at the model of the Maleficent coaster — have us even more excited for Villains Land! 21. Heads up! If your Disney World vacation starts soon and you’re staying at Disney’s Beach Club Villas, you’ll want to be aware of this refurbishment project. No, but it’s nice to have a heads-up that you’re walking into a construction zone before you get there! The Solarium at Disney’s Beach Club The EPCOT area resorts are among our favorites because you get so many perks. You can visit the Yacht and Beach Club Resorts, along with the BoardWalk Inn, which are all a few steps away from each other. BoardWalk Resort You can also walk right into EPCOT! You get to use the International Gateway entrance, so you’ll enter near the U.K. and France Pavilions. This makes it great to rope drop rides like Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. Walking path from Beach Club to EPCOT There’s also a Skyliner stop at the International Gateway, which makes it easy to visit other hotels and Hollywood Studios. You can’t forget about the boat transportation at the resorts, too. These can be some of the best resorts to stay in if you’re not bringing your own car. Anywhere else, you can take the free bus transportation. The Skyliner at the International Gateway Don’t want to go through all of the stress of booking your Disney World trip alone? 23. It’s obviously no secret that we love food here at Disney Food Blog, so when a Disney World restaurant closes for refurbishment, we understandably get pretty bummed. Of course, it usually means that a refreshed and revamped experience is on the way, though, and we can’t be upset about that! Turf Club Lounge has reopened! It also means that we get to be STOKED when a restaurant finally reopens, because a new menu usually comes along with it — and that’s exactly why we’re celebrating now! That’s right, the Turf Club Lounge has officially reopened at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort, and we’ve got a first look at the refreshed space. Let’s check it out. Turf Club Lounge has finally reopened after being closed since late April 2026, and we couldn’t be more thrilled. This lounge at Saratoga Springs Resort is connected to Turf Club Bar & Grill, which itself is now closed for refurbishment. Disney staggered the closures so that either the lounge or the restaurant would be open during the construction. Turf Club Lounge revamped space The lounge is open from 11 AM to 11 PM, and Disney recently shared a look at the revamped menu — so you know we’ll be giving some of these new items a try! Make sure you keep an eye out for our full review. The lounge got some new tables and chairs, along with new carpeting… New tables and chairs …and a brand-new look for the bar as well! New bar! You can check out the new lounge menu below! New Lounge menu We suspect that the Giant Pretzel that was previously available here has been updated to become a pretzel stuffed with charcuterie. This baby is stuffed with meats, cheeses, and veggies. So we’d say that’s a big change. ©Disney It looks like The Turf Club Bar & Grill’s Turf Burger will be returning as well, which is made with Smoked Cheddar, Thick-cut Bacon, Bourbon Glaze, Crispy Onions, and Tomato Jam on a Brioche Bun. However, the side looks to have been upgraded from regular seasoned French fries to waffle fries. We approve! This is a great Disney burger, so we’re all about this being available in the lounge! ©Disney Finally, we also got a photo of what may be an existing menu item: the Crispy Chicken Wings that come with a Choice of Buffalo or Garlic-Parmesan Sauce, Blue Cheese, and Celery. ©Disney Of course, there are drinks offered in the lounge, too! ©Disney As of now, the Disney World website shows that the Turf Club Bar & Grill will reopen on September 30th, so we’ll be sure to keep an eye on that date in case it changes. We’ll be on the lookout for even more Disney World restaurant updates you need to know about and beyond. In the meantime, stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more! 24. Behind every milestone in Disney Cruise Line’s sustainability journey is a dedicated team of cast and crew members. From the galley and staterooms to Disney’s island destinations in The Bahamas, supporting a healthier planet is a team effort. Disney Cruise Line has eliminated more than 99% of all guest-facing, non-essential, single-use plastics on its ships and island destinations as of the end of fiscal 2025. The real magic on deck and at our island destinations is the dedication of our cast and crew,” Barry Compagnoni, vice president of safety, sustainability & medical operations, shared. “They are the ones bringing our sustainability goals to life every single day, and their impact is visible everywhere you look.” Where to See Our Teams Navigating These Changes If you look closely around our dining rooms, quick-service venues and buffets, guests can see the direct results of culinary and food service teams rethinking the traditional dining service. As a result, crew have steadily moved away from single-use items, replacing them with reusable and refillable, alternatives While Disney Cruise Line previously eliminated single-use staples like plastic straws, merchandise bags, cutlery, and individual condiment packets fleetwide, teams are now tackling everyday packaging and more. Guests who sailed recently may have noticed initiatives across food and beverage locations, including the transition away from individual, single-use packaging for more bulk containers and using reusable serving ware. In doing so, crew can deliver the same great flavors and an elevated dining experience with a fraction of the waste. Innovating at Island Destinations Teams at Disney’s island destinations in The Bahamas have been at the forefront of innovating operations to minimize waste. For example, when designing the guest experience for Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, food and beverage teams saw a blank canvas with an opportunity to do things differently. Through collaboration and forward-thinking, the new island destination operates entirely without guest-facing single-use plastics, utilizing reusable dishware, flatware and cups for every meal. The same service items have been introduced at Disney Castaway Cay, too. In addition to eliminating the need for single-use plastics, using sturdy serviceware means guests enjoy their lunch with an elevated island dining experience. Meanwhile, over at Disney Castaway Cay, our island operations teams have rolled out redesigned trash cans. By ensuring separate receptacles for recycling and food scraps are seamlessly integrated into the guest experience, our crew are able to sort and manage waste more effectively and efficiently than ever before. Every Order, Every Interaction: Small Changes in Dining and Retail Merchandise and food and beverage crew members handle millions of guest interactions a year, making them Disney Cruise Line’s strongest champions for daily change. By shifting away from single-use items, these teams have fundamentally changed how we sail: Retail Teams: By transitioning to reusable shopping bags, our merchandise crew has successfully eliminated the use of nearly 1 million plastic bags annually. Food & Beverage Teams: Teams have replaced plastic water bottles with recyclable aluminum options, managing refill stations across both guest and crew areas. They’ve also adapted to serving specialty coffees and drinks at 24-hour beverage stations in plastic-free, paper cups. “The culture was there to push us forward as a team,” Gary Latouche, director of hotel operations, merchandise, photography and spa, shared. “We made the lists, but it’s a real team effort to find solutions and put them into practice.” Operations teams are also looking beyond guest-facing areas to influence the supply chain. By partnering closely with vendors, purchasing teams now buy guest room towels in bulk, eliminating excess single-use plastic wrap before it ever boards the ship. This effort also includes reuseable Disney Cruise Line pallet covers that can now be seen replacing plastic wrap at the loading docks in Port Canaveral, Port Everglades and Singapore. These new protective covers have the same function but eliminate the need for single-use plastics to protect new merchandise inventory. Stateroom Hosts Leading the Charge Stateroom hosts are the heart of the onboard experience, and they are directly leading the implementation of waste-reduction efforts where guests feel it most. When delivering Disney Cruise Line Castaway Club loyalty gifts, hosts now distribute lanyards and amenities in paper-based packaging rather than traditional plastic sleeves—a transition that has removed over 3 million plastic sleeves from operations since 2024. Additionally, by maintaining and managing the refillable bath product dispensers in every stateroom, housekeeping teams help eliminate the distribution of more than 2.2 million plastic amenity containers every single year. “We’ve been working toward this for years and we are all really invested in meeting our goal, and the results show that,” Shelley Gold-Witiak, director of hotel operations & guest experience integration, said. Together, Anything is Possible The overarching sentiment is that this wouldn’t be possible without the shared goal and a team always looking to find solutions. For Melanie, manager of spa and operating participants, she hopes people take away that they can be part of the solution, even in small ways, every day. “To make a change, it takes every single one of us on this planet. It’s not one person, it’s not one team, it’s not one company. Whatever we do, we just hope that it’s inspiring,” Melanie said. Every milestone reached is a reflection of our crew’s shared passion for protecting the environment. It is the daily attention to detail from every individual that brings these goals to life.
