What do you do when you retire from being the CEO of Disney? You buy an NBA team! ©New York Times It’s been a year of change for the Los Angeles Lakers. First, LeBron James leaves the team to join the Philadelphia 76ers, and now there’s an ownership change. You may recognize the name of the person who bought the Los Angeles Lakers. It’s somebody by the name of Bob Iger! Breaking news just dropped that Josh Kushner and Bob Iger are buying the Los Angeles Lakers for $12.5 billion, according to ESPN. This is a record-breaking price, which is to be expected considering this is one of the most popular NBA franchises of all time. ©Disney Reports say that Bob Iger was involved in the expansion process in Las Vegas, but pivoted to make an aggressive offer to buy the Lakers from Mark Walter. Mark Walter had just purchased the team from the Buss family last year for a then-record franchise valuation of approximately $10 billion. ©Fox (Bob Iger and NBA Commissioner Adam Silver) “As lifelong NBA fans, we are deeply honored for the opportunity to become stewards of the Los Angeles Lakers, one of the most iconic sports franchises in the world. We have immense respect for the leadership and vision of Jerry and Jeanie Buss,” Kushner and Iger said in a statement. “Our long-term commitment is to build on that foundation, compete at the highest level, and serve this extraordinary team, its fans, and the city of Los Angeles.” ©ESPN Walter, who sold the team, also made a statement. “Owning the Los Angeles Lakers has been one of the great honors of my life — an extraordinary investment, but what I will carry with me is the community, the fans, and a city that treats this team as family. I am grateful to Jeanie Buss, the Buss family, the players, and the staff for welcoming me into this chapter. The Lakers belong to Los Angeles, and I have every confidence the best is still ahead.” ©ESPN The sale still needs to be approved by the NBA’s board of governors, and that process can take several weeks. The next board meeting is set for next month in New York. Assuming it goes through, this will be an interesting and fun next step for the former Disney CEO. ©Disney Make sure to follow Disney Food Blog for more Disney news and beyond! If you’ve spent any real time in the Disney World parks, you know that Cast Members are the glue holding the whole magical operation together. Cinderella Castle They’re smiling in 95-degree heat, answering the same question for the 400th time that day, and somehow still making it look easy. But even the most patient, pixie-dusted Cast Member has a breaking point. We talked to some former Cast Members to find out what guest habits drive them up the wall — and, more importantly, what you should do instead so your next trip stays magical for everyone involved. 1. Feeding the Wildlife Those ducks wandering around World Showcase may look like they’re begging for a snack, but resist the urge. Disney strictly prohibits feeding the animals on property because human food isn’t good for their digestion and can teach wildlife to depend on guests rather than forage naturally, which can eventually make them more aggressive around people. Instead, just enjoy watching the critters do their thing from a respectful distance and let them find their own lunch. We love Disney ducks! 2. Overstaying Your Welcome When the parks host ticketed evening events or extended hours for deluxe resort guests, Cast Members hand out wristbands to anyone who’s cleared to be there. They also staff checkpoints throughout the parks to check for those bands, and if you don’t have one, you’ll be walked to the exit. If you happen to have a late dining reservation that runs into event hours, ask for the appropriate wristband (a dining band, for example, rather than a party band) so Cast Members know exactly why you’re still there — and then head out once your business is done. Party Wristband 3. Pressuring Kids Into Rides They’re Scared Of Disney World is a family-friendly place, but that doesn’t mean every attraction is a slam dunk for every kid (or adult, for that matter). If your child is hesitant, it helps to talk through their fears first, and maybe even pull up a rider’s-eye-view video online so they know what to expect before they commit. For coasters your child just barely meets the height requirement for, consider easing them in with some tamer attractions first rather than throwing them straight onto the big one. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind 4. Trying to Sneak Backstage Walt Disney wanted the parks to feel fully immersive, which is why there are firm rules against guests wandering into backstage areas. These spaces are where Cast Members transition between lands and take breaks, and they’re also used to store equipment, so staying out keeps the illusion — and everyone’s safety — intact. If you’re genuinely curious what’s back there, book one of Disney’s official behind-the-scenes tours, like Keys to the Kingdom at Magic Kingdom or Wild Africa Trek at Animal Kingdom. Wild Africa Trek 5. Monopolizing a Character’s Time It’s tempting to want every last second with your favorite character, especially after a long wait in line. But there’s always another family waiting right behind you for their turn. Prep your kids ahead of time by explaining that meet-and-greets are quick hellos, not extended hangouts, so the goodbye doesn’t come as a surprise. Hi, Mulan! 6. Never Chatting With Cast Members Thanks to Disney’s cultural representative program, the Cast Members working World Showcase pavilions actually come from the countries those pavilions represent. That means they’re a great resource for learning about their home country’s food, language, and even their own local Disney parks. Don’t be shy about asking a cultural representative about their favorite ride or what they’ll miss most when their program wraps up — most are happy to talk about something other than work, as long as you’re mindful of how busy they are. We LOVE Cast Members! 7. Parking Your Stroller Carelessly Strollers can’t come everywhere with you — they’ll need to stay parked outside before you get in a ride line, enter most indoor shows, or sit down at a restaurant. Designated stroller parking is usually easy to spot (just look for the cluster of other strollers), and a Cast Member can point you in the right direction if you’re unsure. Keep in mind your stroller might get shifted around later on to make room for others, so tie on something easy to spot, like a balloon, a string of lights, or a bright ribbon, so you can track it down quickly. Magic Kingdom Strollers 8. Losing Your Cool Between long lines, heavy crowds, and hours of walking in the heat, tempers can run short in the parks. Getting frustrated is completely normal, but taking it out on a Cast Member or another guest crosses a line. If you see a situation escalating, the best move is to step away and alert a nearby Cast Member so they can loop in security. Disney’s team is trained to de-escalate these moments, so there’s no need to intervene yourself. Crowds + Heat = Not Good 9. Not Playing Along With the Fun Cast Members bring their own personality and playfulness to the job, whether that’s a quick magic trick or a spot-on character impression. When one of them wants to share a little moment like that with you, lean into it! It’s often one of those small, unexpected highlights that ends up being a favorite part of the trip. Cast Members make the magic 10. Asking Cast Members for Free Tickets Cast Members do earn a limited number of complimentary tickets, but those are typically reserved for close friends and family. It’s not uncommon for old acquaintances to suddenly resurface hoping for a free pass, but remember that those perks are earned through plenty of hard work and long shifts, so it’s best not to ask. Scanning into the theme park 11. Going to the Parks While Sick Nobody wants to lose a vacation day to being under the weather, but pushing through and heading to the parks anyway isn’t fair to other guests or Cast Members who could catch whatever you have. It’s best to rest at your resort, and you can reach out to the on-call medical service through the My Disney Experience app if needed. If you just need basic medicine to get through the day, most resort gift shops carry over-the-counter essentials (at a markup, but it’ll do the job). HELP. I’m Sick in Disney World — Where Do I Go and Can I Get Any Money Back?! First Aid in Magic Kingdom 12. Ignoring the Safety Signage Those posted warnings outside attractions aren’t just a formality. Cast Members really do want you to read them before boarding. Some rides can pose risks for guests with high blood pressure, back or neck issues, motion sickness, or who are pregnant, and that’s especially true for more intense attractions like Mission: Space, Space Mountain, Expedition Everest, and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. Take a moment to check the posted guidance and make the safe call for your own health. Warning at Test Track 13. Waiting Until You’re at the Register to Decide If there’s a line at a quick-service spot, use that time productively and figure out your order before you reach the counter. Cast Members won’t rush you, but having your order (and your payment method) ready to go the moment you step up keeps the line moving for everyone. Menus are posted at the booth, online, and often in festival passports, so there’s no need to wait until the last second. The line for the Italy Booth 14. Cutting the Line Waiting in line is part of the deal, and Cast Members have little patience for guests who try to skip ahead — yes, including the classic “my family is already up there” move. If you want to shorten your wait, your real options are purchasing Lightning Lane or using single rider lines where available. And if you truly need to step out for an emergency, just let a Cast Member in line know so they can help you rejoin your spot afterward. You will have to wait in line 15. Saving a Table Before You’ve Ordered Sending someone ahead to claim a table before you’ve actually got food in hand might feel efficient, but it often means guests with trays in hand are left wandering with nowhere to sit. Some locations, like Connections Eatery and Cafe in EPCOT, have started enforcing a no-seating-without-food policy during busy periods. Even where that rule isn’t enforced, it’s best to hold off on grabbing a seat until your order is actually in hand. Seating 16. Forgetting to Tip at Table Service Restaurants Just like restaurants back home, table service servers in Disney World work for tips, so don’t treat the parks as a tip-free zone. And if you’re using the Disney Dining Plan, remember that gratuity isn’t included in that price, so you’ll still want to budget for it separately. Roundup Rodeo 17. Not Listening During a Ride Evacuation If a ride breaks down and requires a full evacuation, Cast Members ask that you stay calm, remain seated, and follow their instructions closely. They’re working to get everyone out as safely and quickly as possible, even if it takes a little longer depending on where your vehicle stopped on the track. Afterward, it’s worth checking with a Cast Member near the exit, since they’ll sometimes offer an experience redemption pass as an apology for the inconvenience. Ride Evacuation At the end of the day, most of these tips boil down to the same thing: a little patience and consideration go a long way toward keeping the parks magical for Cast Members and guests alike. Florida weather is notoriously finicky. It can be bright and sunny one minute, and then, the next minute, it could be raining cats and dogs with thunder and lightning, only to be bright and sunny again once that’s over. But one thing you can count on in the summer in Florida is that it will be hot AND humid. It’s going to be hot today Now, if you’re not used to heat and humidity, think about being inside an oven, but the oven is actually a swamp, and the swamp is pretty much boiling. Yeah, it’s kinda like that. Well, according to The Orlando Sentinel, today is going to be REALLY unbearable, with a heat advisory beginning for the area as of 10 AM. East Central Florida, including Disney World, is under a heat advisory from 10 AM to 8 PM today. Temperatures are expected to get up to the high 90s, but the heat index will make it feel like it’s anywhere from 108 to 112 degrees. That humidity is really what’s going to get you, so you’ll want to take all precautions if you plan on being outside today, and if you’re visiting Disney World, we imagine that’s part of your daily plan. It’s going to be muggy in the parks If you are visiting Disney World today, we advise you to take as many breaks inside air-conditioned spaces as possible. That means getting on a lot of indoor rides, taking advantage of attractions that feature indoor theaters, spending time inside shops, etc. You’ll want to stay inside as much as you possibly can. Indoor attractions are a great way to cool off You’ll also want to stay hydrated and drink plenty of water. Bring a water bottle and take advantage of the water bottle refill stations in each park. You can also request a free cup of water from most counter service restaurants. Bring your water bottle Portable fans and neck fans can also come in handy to help you feel cooler when you have to be outside. Cooling towels are also a great option to help keep your body temperature down. However, if at any point in time you feel sick, get indoors quickly, and if you need medical attention, make your way to a First Aid station if you can. If not, inform a Cast Member immediately. Disney has some major announcements up their sleeve that they’re saving for D23: the Ultimate Disney Fan Event, a biannual expo where they release some major news about the Disney theme parks. Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland Disneyland has some major expansions coming soon that Disney hasn’t updated us on since the last D23 expo in 2024. Disney could make many HUGE Disneyland announcements at D23, but here are five MAJOR announcements that might be revealed this weekend! Avengers Campus Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure will soon double in size with two new rides. Avengers: Infinity Defense will have riders join the Avengers in their epic battle against Thanos! The ride will jump between worlds with settings including Wakanda, Asgard, and New York. Plus, you’ll see familiar faces like Hulk, Ant-Man, and Iron Man voiced by Robert Downey Jr. himself! Avengers Infinity Defense ©Disney Another sneak peek we’re hoping for soon is Stark Flight Lab. In this new ride, you’ll fly like an Avenger with Iron Man! Imagineers are creating a brand new technology where a robotic arm attaches to your vehicle for a more dynamic simulated flight. But even with all of these fun ride details, Disney hasn’t yet announced an opening day for them! ©Disney Pandora: The World of Avatar An all-new Avatar land is coming to Disney California Adventure! This new destination will bring Pandora to life in a brand-new way inspired by Avatar: The Way of Water, Avatar: Fire and Ash, and upcoming Avatar 4 and Avatar 5. ©Disney In June 2025, Disney confirmed the new Avatar land will take over a portion of the current Hollywood Backlot area, and Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! will close in 2027. That’s all we have in terms of a timeline for Pandora, so we’ll likely get more news at D23. Coco ride Back in August 2024, Disney shared that a brand-new Coco ride would be coming to Disney California Adventure. The brand-new Coco ride will be located near Paradise Gardens Park and Pixar Pier, and construction is currently underway. ©Disney The new attraction will be a boat ride, and we’ll see music play a large role. Disney hasn’t announced an opening date or timeline yet, but since it’s currently under construction, we might get an update this weekend! New park!?! Rumors of a new Disneyland theme park have been circulating for years, but Disney has never confirmed anything. ©Disney With the $2 BILLION development upgrade to Disneyland’s parking and resorts finally taking shape, Disney will soon have the infrastructure to support a third theme park if it’s truly in the works behind the scenes. The Disneyland Expansion Is Just Getting Started. Here’s What Might Come Next… We’ll be sure to keep you updated on Disneyland news from D23 this weekend. Construction and refurbishment projects have been a part of Disney World since the beginning, and right now the resort is full of projects including Piston Peak, Tropical Americas, and Monstropolis. However, in addition to those massive-scale projects, there are also a few going on around some of the hotels. Animal Kingdom Lodge Over the course of the next months, several Disney World hotels will see refurbishment and renovation projects begin, and we’re breaking down everything you need to know. Saratoga Springs Resort We’ve known about several Saratoga Springs projects for a while now, including the ongoing refurbishment of the Treehouse Villas coming to the Saratoga Springs Resort. The redesign will lean heavily into natural vibes, featuring granite countertops, hardwood floors, lighting, furniture, and decor. Plus, basics like updated appliances, including the fridge, oven, and microwave. ©Disney In addition, August will see a bit of musical chairs with the resort’s restaurants. The Turf Club Lounge at Saratoga Springs, which has been closed since the spring, will reopen; then, the Turf Club Patio will have a brief closure from early through mid-August, and finally, the Turf Club Bar & Grill will be closed from August to September, this time with the aforementioned Turf Club Lounge remaining open. Turf Club Bar & Grill Finally, in their most recent update on the Disney World website, the hotel now lists that areas of the Port Cochere (the covered front entrance to the hotel) will be undergoing refurbishment through fall 2026. Saratoga Springs Lobby Yacht & Beach Club Resorts Meanwhile, over at the Yacht Club and Beach Club Resorts, Disney has also added a temporary closure notice regarding one of the resort’s key transportation options. From August 17th through 21st, 2026, the FriendShip Boat dock will be closed for maintenance. During the closure, direct bus transportation will be available to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and you can use the nearby walkways to get to EPCOT. You can also walk to EPCOT and then take the Disney Skyliner to Hollywood Studios if you’d like to avoid the bus. Disney’s Yacht Club Resort Fort Wilderness Resort and Campgrounds If you’re planning to stay at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort, be aware that through mid-October, soil erosion prevention work will be taking place along the sidewalk on Big Pine Trail. This means that at certain times, alternate paths of travel may be in place due to roadway detours, so some paths may take you longer than normal. Fort Wilderness Animal Kingdom Lodge If you’re planning to stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge, there are several major construction changes you need to know about. Beginning August 17th, the lobby and nearby areas at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge – Kidani Village will undergo refurbishment in phases, which are as follows: August 17th through October 9th: The main lobby and primary entrance will be closed. Check-in will move to the Palace Library during this time. August 17th through 28th: The merchandise location, Johari Treasures, will be closed. September 28th through October 9th: The north side lobby corridor will be closed. During this time, the north side lobby elevators on the second floor and the outdoor terrace observation deck will be unavailable. October 26th through November 6th: The south side lobby corridor will be closed. During this time, Community Hall, Safari So Good Arcade, the laundry room, the Palace Library, lobby restrooms, and the outdoor terrace observation deck will be unavailable. The Savanna at Animal Kingdom Lodge Coronado Springs Resort The Convention Center at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort has begun refurbishment. The project is expected to stretch through September 2027. Furthermore, the hotel’s El Centro Corridor and surrounding areas will also undergo refurbishment tied to the convention center refurbishment. According to Disney, work will be completed in phases, with certain spaces being temporarily inaccessible at times. The work will take place overnight to “help minimize impacts to daily operations, however, Disney does stress that guests may see or hear construction activity in the area while work is ongoing. Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort Further projects that will be ongoing through late 2026 and into 2027 include: Boardwalk Exterior Refurbishment: Through Late 2026 Wilderness Lodge Exterior Refurbishment: Late 2026 Yacht Club Exterior Maintenance: Late 2026 All-Star Movies Refurb: May 2026 to January 2027 Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo House Refurb: May 2026 to January 2027 Grand Floridian Resort-Wide Refurbishment Including Porte-cochère: Through early 2027 Port Orleans Room Refurbishment: Through August 2027 Art of Animation Room Refurbishment: Through Late 2027 Beach Club Exterior Refurbishment: Through Late 2027 Contemporary Resort-Wide: Through Late 2027 ©Disney Beginning in August, several Disney hotels are launching new refurbishment projects that guests should be aware of. D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event is officially happening this weekend. We cannot wait to see all of the amazing entertainment and see what exciting announcements Disney is going to make. Disney Wish And today we are bringing you all the Disney Cruise Line announcements we think (or hope!) will be announced during D23 so let’s dive in! Disney Cruise Line currently has eight ships in their fleet that sail all across the world. The newest ship, The Disney Adventure, set sail in Singapore just a few months ago. However, there are already new ships on Disney’s horizon. Disney Wish We currently know that the new Disney Believe is set to begin sailing sometime in 2027. We also know this ship will have spaces dedicated to Encanto, Frozen, Moana, and The Little Mermaid. But that’s really everything. Disney has not revealed much about this highly anticipated ship, but will that change over the weekend? ©Disney Without further ado, here are our four Disney Cruise Line announcement predictions for D23: #1 — Disney Believe Stage Show We are hoping to get details about the Stage Shows we can expect to find on the new Disney Believe. Shows are an incredible part of Disney Cruise Line, and the shows based on Disney movies, like Moana or Hercules, are so amazing! And we are already excited to see whatever show Disney cooks up for their newest ship. ©Disney # 2 — New Ship Names We also think we might get updated names for ships that are coming in the future. We know that more Disney ships are on the horizon, and it would be very exciting to find out what they will be called. Welcome to the Disney Treasure! #3 — Updated Itineraries We hope we’ll also get some updated itineraries. Currently, we still don’t know the cruise itineraries for late 2027, and we want to start booking our trips! Disney Cruise Line #4 — New Character and More Special Sea Days And finally, we are hoping for some new characters and more special Sea Days. Disney has brought Bluey and Bingo to select sailings, and they currently do several fun themed Days at Sea, including Marvel Day at Sea and Pixar Day at Sea. We would be thrilled if we got some new characters and even more special sailings! Mickey as Captain America on Marvel Day at Sea The truth is Disney could announce ANYTHING at D23, but thankfully we will be keeping a close eye on all the panels and keeping you informed of any news all weekend long, so stay tuned with Disney Food Blog so you never miss any D23 news! If you’re traveling to Disney World, I’m sure you won’t be going empty-handed. You’ll need to bring your park outfits, accessories, all of the essentials for your park day, and more! What are you packing? And a lot of us will be taking a flight to get to Disney World, which means your suitcase is bound to be handled by your airline. Well, let’s just say some airlines are more careful than others. We’re here to talk about the airlines that have the best (and worst) track records when it comes to losing your bags! A survey from the U.S. Department of Transportation gathered information across 15 airlines to determine which company was the best and the worst when it comes to handling customers’ bags. This data is based on nonstop domestic flights and includes passenger reports of mishandled baggage, including those that did not subsequently result in claims for compensation. Let’s go through each airline from worst to best and see which one you should be choosing for your next trip. 15. American Airlines Coming in last place, we have American Airlines, which mishandled every 71 out of 100 bags in 2025. They serve 10 major cities to the Orlando International Airport (MCO), including Boston, Charlotte, Dallas, New York, Philadelphia, and Phoenix. American Airlines Plane 14. United Airlines Not too far behind is United Airlines with every 70 out of 100 bags mishandled last year. Guests can fly to Orlando on United from eight different cities, including Newark, Houston, Denver, Cleveland, and Chicago. ©United Airlines 13 & 12. Envoy Air & Endeavor Air With the same number of mishandled bags in 2025, Envoy Air and Endeavor Air take places 12 & 13 on this list, with every 69 out of 100 bags being mishandled per airline. Neither of these airlines offers service to MCO. Envoy Air is a subsidiary of American Airlines, while Endeavor Air is a subsidiary of Delta Air Lines. ©Envoy Air 11. Hawaiian Airlines Another airline without service to Orlando on this list is Hawaiian Airlines, which mishandled every 54 out of 100 bags last year. They offer only nonstop flights to every major Hawaiian Island from cities in North America, Asia, and the South Pacific. ©Hawaiian Airlines 10. Skywest Airlines In 2025, Skywest Airlines mishandled 53 out of 100 bags, causing them to claim 10th place on this list. They are a regional airline who share an agreement with United Airlines, Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, and Alaska Airlines. Skywest services over 250 cities in 45 U.S. states, Canada, and Mexico. ©Skywest Airlines 9. Republic Airways Just below Skywest Airlines, we have Republic Airways, which mishandled every 52 out of 100 bags last year. While they don’t serve Orlando, the airline has 12 combined bases to over 100 destinations. ©Republic Airways 8. Alaska Airlines Ending the top half of our list is Alaska Airlines, which mishandled every 51 out of 100 bags in 2025. Alaska Airlines currently services four cities to Orlando, including Portland, OR, San Diego, CA, San Francisco, CA, and Seattle, WA. ©Alaska Airlines 7. PSA Airlines Though they are a part of the American Airlines Group, PSA Airlines gets its own statistic for mishandling bags. Last year, this airline mishandled every 49 out of 100 bags. Its main operational hubs include Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT), Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). There are no flights to MCO on PSA Airlines. ©PSA Airlines 6. Delta Air Lines Coming in sixth place, we have Delta Air Lines, which mishandled every 45 out of 100 bags in 2025. From Orlando, Delta has service to 14 cities, including Atlanta, Boston, Miami, and Seattle. ©Getty Images 5. Spirit Airlines Though they have now gone out of business, Spirit Airlines takes fifth place since they were still operational when this data was gathered. In 2025, Spirit mishandled every 43 out of 100 bags. ©Spirit Airlines 4. Frontier Airlines In 2025, Frontier Airlines mishandled every 41 out of 100 bags, giving them fourth place in this ranking. The airline has service to 55 cities from Orlando, including St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Indianapolis, and Detroit, as well as a few international cities. ©Frontier Airlines 3. Southwest Airlines Taking the bronze medal is Southwest Airlines. The airline mishandled every 38 out of 100 bags in 2025. Southwest has service from nearly 70 cities to Orlando, including Salt Lake City, Philadelphia, Nashville, Kansas City, Houston, Cleveland, and Chicago. Several international airports, like Aruba, Mexico, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic, are also served to Orlando through Southwest. Southwest Airlines at MCO 2. JetBlue Airways The runner-up of this list is JetBlue Airways, which mishandled every 31 out of 100 bags last year. Guests from 28 different cities can travel to Orlando on JetBlue, including Boston, Hartford, New York, Newark, Providence, and Las Vegas. There are also flights from the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, and The Bahamas. @JetBlue Airways 1. Allegiant Air The best airline that will handle your bags is Allegiant Air, and the gap between JetBlue and them in terms of mishandling bags is WIDE. This airline only mishandled every nine out of 100 bags. Allegiant has service from four cities to Orlando — Allentown/Lehigh, PA, Appleton, WI, Asheville, NC, and Knoxville, TN. Allegiant Air So, if you’re booking a trip to Disney World anytime soon and don’t know which airline to choose, remember this list, so you know your bag will be in good hands! Fall has officially arrived in Disney World, and while we’ve been talking so much about all the fall and Halloween fun over in Magic Kingdom, there are TONS of amazing fall offerings over in Disney Springs. Halloween Cookie From exclusive fall snacks to the return of Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar Halloween overlay, we cannot wait to immerse ourselves in all the delicious autumnal fun, and we just got a preview of some of the snacks you can expect to find at Disney Springs during the fall season, so of course, we are bringing you along for the ride! The preview event began with a walk-through look at some of the Halloween merch that guests can find at World of Disney! This was mostly merch we’ve seen already throughout Disney, but we loved the chance to see all of the adorable merch again, including one of our favorites, the Cutie Ghost Collection. Cutie Ghost Halloween Disney World of Disney And then outside of World of Disney, there was lots of amazing fall entertainment, including Stilt Walkers, drummers, and performers. This was such a fun surprise and the perfect way to get us in the Halloween spirit. Halloween Entertainment So now it’s time to dive into ALL of the food we were able to snag at this event, starting with the Halloween Cookie from Amorette’s Patisserie. This is a classic chocolate chip cookie with chunks of toffee laced between layers of dark chocolate, and it was delicious. Halloween Cookie This cookie is so rich and decadent, but be warned: it is VERY messy. It melted very quick in the hot Florida sun, so make sure to have napkins on hand. The cookie was well baked with a great chewy texture. Our only complaint is that the decorations on top did not SCREAM Halloween. The Vampire Mickey was cute, but we were hoping for more; this was a fantastic cookie. Halloween Cookie Then it was time to head over to the preview of Jock Lindsey’s Halloween Bar to check out some of the exclusive food and drinks. Before the event began, we also got to hear from Chef Gary about each of the menu items, and he explained that this Halloween menu has been in the works since January. First up, we tried Jock Lindsey’s Midnight Relic. This is made with Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Ube Syrup, Cream of Coconut, Lemon Juice, and Edible Glitter. Midnight Relic This was a very light, refreshing, and well-made cocktail. You could taste the vodka, and the syrup and coconut cream added a nice sweetness, and the lemon juice created a great balance. Midnight Relic Next up, we grabbed the Viper’s Nest. This is a non-alcoholic drink made with DOLE Pineapple Juice, White Cranberry Juice, Green Apple Syrup, Blue Curacao Syrup, Sprite, Butterfly Pea Extract, topped with Green Apple juice-filled pearls and gummy candy. Viper’s Nest This drink was super sweet with a sour kick, and the pineapple juice mixed with the blue curacao added a nice citrus note. The green apple added to the sourness while the Sprite gave it a much-needed carbonated kick. The popping pearls added a fun burst of sour flavor and a great texture. Overall, this was a fun, sweet, colorful, and fruity drink. Viper’s Nest Now let’s move on to the eats. First, we grabbed the Bone Kebabs. This was incredible! It was the perfect mixture of sweet, salty, and chewy that we were a big fan of. Bone Kebabs The meat flavor was amazing and came through very strong, and the tomato sauce added an acidic balance that brought this whole dish together. The meat also came playfully wrapped around the bone that you could hold and tear off, which was a very fun presentation for this snack SO much meat! We also grabbed the Candelabra Eggs. These were deviled eggs, topped with crispy fried chicken, served in an iconic Candelabra display. If you love deviled eggs, then you will love this snack. It is a classic deviled egg with a kick of spice, which made for a really nice burn. Candelabra Eggs The crispy fried chicken was well dressed in a spicy sauce that was delicious. We really enjoyed this one and will definitely be ordering again! Candelabra Eggs Next we tried the Midnight Mayhem Popcorn Chicken. This is made with big chunks of crispy fried chicken with candy bacon pieces, spiced walnuts, popcorn, and hot honey sauce. This one was very interesting, and while all the flavors individually were very good, we just felt like they did not come together cohesively. Midnight Mayhem Popcorn Chicken We also grabbed the Dark Forest Dip. This is a well-made hummus that is covered with herbs, carrots, and lots of other toppings. This was very good and definitely felt like an elevated form of hummus. If you love hummus, then this should be on your fall must-try list! Black Forest Dip Then we grabbed the Alien Invader Sliders. These are fried chicken sliders with perfectly melted cheese, pickles, layered in with hot honey. These sliders are the only repeat from the menu last year, and we can see why they came back! These were spicy, delicious, and the balance between the acidity and spice was incredible. Plus, the presentation is just too fun! Alien Invader Sliders We also tried the Skull of the Dead Dip. This is a beef barbacoa dip with cheddar sauce and spicy fried onions, served with plantain chips. The plantain chips had a simple flavor that really let the dip shine; they had a solid crunch, but the dip did not coat the chip well. Skull of the Dead The dip had a thick and creamy consistency, with the cheddar being the most prominent flavor. The beef barbacoa added a subtle meaty flavor underneath the cheese. The spicy fried onions added a great crunchy texture but didn’t contribute much flavor-wise. If you love cheese dips and meat, then this is worth a try next time you’re in Disney Springs! Skull of the Dead Dip That wraps up all of the items we got to try over at Jock Lindsey’s Halloween Bar, and you might think that we’re done, but that’s where you are WRONG! We still have more snacks to share with you, including Goofy’s Halloween Popcorn Mix from Goofy’s Candy Co. Halloween Popcorn Mix This is classic buttered popcorn covered with melted milk chocolate, chocolate sauce, marshmallows, and candy corn. This feels like you took all of your leftover Halloween candy and dumped it into a bowl of popcorn. Overall, this popcorn treat is extremely sweet and will be a fan-favorite among kids! Halloween Popcorn Mix Last up, we grabbed the Haunted Mansion Portrait Bars from The Ganachery. These chocolates come in four flavors: Raspberry, Chipotle Chocolate, Caramel Chocolate, and Passion Fruit. The Raspberry was not super sweet and had a dark chocolate exterior that had a good crunch, but the dark chocolate balanced out the sweetness. The tart fruitiness was subtle, but the most prominent flavor was that dark chocolate. Haunted Mansion Portrait Bars The Chipotle Chocolate had a real hit of spice with a dark chocolate ganache filling. Anyone spice-averse would not enjoy this at all since it packs a strong bit of spice. The Ganache was super creamy, and the outside chocolate coating was well-tempered. If you love spice, you should give this one a try! Haunted Mansion Portrait Bars The Caramel Chocolate was so dreamy and smooth. Caramel lovers will absolutely flip over this. It had a super buttery quality that only good caramel has, and the chocolate was so well tempered on the outside that it added a crunch to go with the creaminess; this was absolutely delicious. Finally, The Passion Fruit had a chunkier interior, and there was a fruity flavor in each bite. It was similar to the raspberry but with more citrus flavor. The exterior was more of a milk chocolate flavor, which complemented the fruitiness well! D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event is coming up THIS week, and that means we are ready to celebrate all things Disney with Disney and other Disney fans. This event is jam-packed with SO much to see and do, including a LOT of shopping, as well as a ton of booths, exhibits, celebrity appearances, and panels. Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom Now, one panel we’re REALLY excited about is the Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase on Saturday night, which is where we’ll learn more about what’s coming to the theme parks and Disney Cruise Line. Speaking of theme parks, we think we’re going to hear a LOT more about everything happening in Disney World, so we’ve got some predictions about what big Disney World announcements we’ll get during this panel. Disney Villains Land Rides There are a LOT of questions remaining about the Villains Land coming to Magic Kingdom, and we’re really hoping to get some answers. One of the biggest questions has to do with what the rides in the land might be like. We’ve got the initial concept art, but there have been rumors that Disney has decided to go in a different, more family-friendly direction with rides. Since Disney has been pretty quiet about the area, we’ll be thrilled to know what they’re working on. ©Disney We’re hoping to get some clarification on what rides in the Villains Land might be like. Plus, it would be really nice if Disney would give us the name for this new land! Piston Peak opening timeline and more ride details Construction on Piston Peak, aka the Cars expansion in Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland, is well underway, and we’ve been following its progress. We’d really like an idea of when the new expansion might open, so we think Disney might give us an opening timeline announcement. ©Disney We’re also hoping that we get more ride details. We know there will be two rides in the expansion: a rally race ride and a slower-paced, family-friendly Cars-themed attraction. That’s not much to go on, though. So we could get some ride names and more details at the D23 panel. Monstropolis opening timeline and attraction details Construction for Monstropolis is also well underway in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, so we’re hoping that we’ll get an announcement about an opening timeline for the new land. However, we also still don’t have a ton of details about the ride’s roller coaster, which is based on the doors scene in the first Monsters, Inc. movie. The ride will be the first suspended roller coaster in Disney World, so we might learn more about that, too, and even get the ride’s name. ©Disney Another detail we have next to NO details about is the show going into the Glob Theater, which we can see on concept art, so we’re expecting to learn more about that. Puebla Esperanza opening timeline and ride details Yep, a LOT is going on in Disney World right now. Dinoland, U.S.A. started closing in phases in early 2025 to make way for Puebla Esperanza construction, so it’s already been a while since Disney broke ground on the new land in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. If we get any opening timelines for new lands in Disney World, we bet this is the one we’ll get. Overview of Pueblo Esperanza coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom We also think we’ll learn more about the land’s three new rides: a carousel, an Encanto-themed ride, and a new Indiana Jones ride. More ride updates Disney has been busy updating a lot of rides, including Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. Carousel of Progress is getting a complete overhaul soon. We believe Disney might announce some more ride updates (and our wishful thinking has us begging for that big Spaceship Earth update we were once promised that never happened). Spaceship Earth needs an update So we’ll be looking out for some ride update announcements during the Experiences panel, too. We’ll be covering EVERYTHING at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, so stay tuned to DFB for more. We’re gearing up for one of the biggest Disney events out there! D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event Coming up this weekend is D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, and it’s going to be HUGE. This multi-day offering includes a variety of panels and showcases where you can get the latest Disney news and behind-the-scenes info, as well as a showroom floor where you can shop, check out interactive exhibits, and just enjoy being a fan! We can’t wait to go! And while you’re there this weekend, there’s a new merchandise collection that we’re sure will be quite popular. If you’re hoping to do some shopping at D23, the biggest place to stop is Mickey’s of Glendale. Disney says, “Named after its original home in Glendale, California, Mickey’s of Glendale is the Walt Disney Imagineering campus store, with exclusive merchandise assortments, pins, and more products made for Imagineers, by Imagineers.” This year, the pop-up shop will be featuring multiple new collections! ©D23 Disney has dropped teasers for the FINAL collection for Mickey’s of Glendale in 2026, and it’s all about Imagineering! This is the Walt Disney Imagineering Pavilion collection. The items all say “Imagineering: Horizons” which is also the name of the Disney Experiences showcase that’s happening Saturday night. ©Disney The sneak peek shows off a themed glass and a matching hat with the logo for the showcase, as well as a t-shirt. There are also magnets and collectible pins not pictured. Disney describes it by saying, “The collection draws from the design language of the 1964 New York World’s Fair, early Tomorrowland architecture and graphics, and classic attractions like Carousel of Progress. It has a vintage, storied feel that will resonate with Disney fans of all ages from across the globe, which seems perfectly aligned with an event like D23 2026.” ©Disney The t-shirt is the most intriguing item of the bunch, with artwork of future and ongoing projects plastered on the back. Are these the projects we’ll get to see at the Imagineering Pavilion during D23? Or perhaps the ones we’ll learn more about during the Disney Experiences showcase? We’ll have to wait and see! Some of the projects pictured include Space Mountain’s overhaul at Tokyo Disneyland, Monstropolis at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and The Lion King-themed attraction coming to Disney Adventure World. ©Disney Along with this collection, Disney revealed the Horizons Collection, which includes a t-shirt, mug, and postcard set. When it comes to room service, there are only two locations at Disney World that offer it. That may come as a surprise, since for many guests, room service is an essential element of a hotel stay, arguably more of a basic necessity than a “perk.” It’s a beautiful resort! Disney’s flagship resort, the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, offers room service — or “private dining options” — from both breakfast and dinner menus. However, that Deluxe Tier Resort isn’t our focus today. Rather, we’re looking at the other hotels where room service is available on Disney property: The Swan & Dolphin. Before we continue, an important caveat: While the Swan & Dolphin are on Disney property, they are NOT owned by Disney. The Michael Graves-designed hotels, both of which opened in 1990, were initially part of a joint venture between Disney, the developer Tishman, insurance company MetLife, and Starwood Hotels and Resorts. The hotels are currently operated by Marriott’s Sheraton Hotels and Resorts brand, after Marriott acquired Starwood in 2016. That ownership situation is likely why these independent resorts offer room service. Swan Reserve Entrance The Swan & Dolphin offer breakfast from 6 AM to 11 AM and dinner from 5 PM to 11:55 PM. Guests can order breakfast or dinner via the resort’s Mobile Dining options, including its app or website. ©Swan & Dolphin So, what does the resort offer? Breakfast includes lite options, like Overnight Oats or a Parfait… ©Swan & Dolphin … traditional sweeter options, including pancakes and waffles, as well as more savory items like eggs and omelets… Some of the breakfast offerings ©Swan & Dolphin … baked goods… ©Swan & Dolphin and sides. ©Swan & Dolphin Meanwhile, the dinner menu offers a litany of options, beginning with starters, including Crispy Chicken Wings and a Chips & Salsa Flight… ©Swan & Dolphin … soups and salads… ©Swan & Dolphin … handhelds and sandwiches, like burgers and grilled cheese… ©Swan & Dolphin … full entrees and pizzas… Some of the dinner entree options. ©Swan & Dolphin … as well as sushi rolls and bowls… ©Swan & Dolphin … and you can pair them all with some sides. ©Swan & Dolphin Of course, you can wrap the whole meal with dessert. ©Swan & Dolphin The menus don’t leave out the youngest guests, as there are kids’ options for both breakfast… ©Swan & Dolphin … and dinner. ©Swan & Dolphin In addition, the Swan Reserve also offers room service. Breakfast is available from 6:15 AM to 11 AM, and includes an Elite Continental Breakfast… ©Swan & Dolphin … further full breakfast options… ©Swan & Dolphin … their own baked goods… ©Swan & Dolphin … sides… ©Swan & Dolphin … and a children’s menu. ©Swan & Dolphin Lunch and dinner are available from 11 AM to 11:59 PM, and the menu includes appetizers and salads… ©Swan & Dolphin … an entree selection… ©Swan & Dolphin … pizzas… ©Swan & Dolphin … and desserts. ©Swan & Dolphin NOTE: Guests must be present in-room for delivery. In addition to in-room food delivery, the Swan & Dolphin also offers many of the same perks as Disney’s Deluxe Tier, including: The ability to book Lightning Lanes 7 days in advance Early Entry to Disney’s theme parks Extended Evening Hours at select Disney theme parks Complimentary transportation On-site and online Disney tickets Advanced tee times at Disney golf courses Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin If room service is a must during your next trip to Disney World, the Swan & Dolphin complex may be your best bet! With the rise of social media, especially TikTok, there have been some videos posted about loopholes that work in Disney World, like how to save a little money or get free things. Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom Yes, some of them do work, but not all of them. Some of the most viral ones are actually the defunct ones! We don’t want you to be surprised on your next trip when one you’re hoping to do doesn’t work, so we’re sharing the FIVE loopholes that don’t work in Disney World! Loopholes That DO NOT Work Parking at Disney Springs for Free Parking Disney Springs has recently changed their transportation rules, which means that a loophole that used to exist is no longer. Parking at Disney Springs and boarding a resort bus or boat is now prohibited for guests not staying or dining at that resort. Guests must now have a valid reservation to board the resort buses and boats at Disney Springs. So, getting free parking at Disney Springs to go to a resort or park is no longer an option. New Disney Bus Rule Uh-Oh. Something BIG Is Missing from Disney Springs Mobile Ordering a Cheap Meal at a Hotel for Discounted Parking Many guests think they can mobile order at a resort’s quick-service restaurant to get “discounted parking,” but this is not the case. Because of the limited parking spaces at the Disney resorts, a lot of them are limited to guests staying there and with valid table-service dining reservations. Yes, sometimes the security guards will let you through, but it is not guaranteed, AND if they do let you through to pick up your mobile order, please don’t treat it as “discounted parking” and go to the parks. Capt. Cook’s at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Did Disney World Just Quietly Add a NEW Mobile Order Rule? Making an Early Dining Reservation at a Hotel for Free Parking Yes, we’re still talking about free parking loopholes because there are just so many untrue ones! Disney World has a rule where guests can cancel their dining reservations up to 2 hours before their designated time, unless this reservation was booked at a signature dining location — those require 48 to 72 hours’ notice. Disney has now started giving out slips to place on your car’s dashboard with your designated reservation time and a 2-hour window. So, no, you cannot get by with parking at a Disney World resort 2 hours and 5 minutes before your dining reservation and cancel when you’re there — it doesn’t work that way! Trattoria al forno 5 Disney World Restaurants Everyone Will Be Booking in 2027 Skipping the Attraction Lines Because It’s Your Birthday We see HUNDREDS of guests with a “Happy Birthday” button every day in Disney World. Does that mean every one of those guests will skip attraction lines? Absolutely not. It’s definitely possible for a Cast Member to give someone a “Magical Moment” and allow them to skip the line because it’s their birthday, but don’t expect it. Happy Birthday Button We Went to 7 Disney World Parks and Hotels in a Day — Here Are 13 New Things We Noticed Getting a Free Upgrade Because You Asked for It If you’ve booked a Standard Room and gotten a free upgrade to a specific view or a preferred location, congrats — there was availability! But not every situation is like this. Just because you want a free upgrade doesn’t mean the Cast Members have to give you one. You paid for a specific tier of room, and that’s the one they’re obligated to put you in, so they don’t need to give you an upgrade because you asked for it. Tower Room with Resort View at Coronado Springs If This Doesn’t Convince You To Stay At This Hotel 15 Minutes From Disney World, We Don’t Know What Will Loopholes That DO Work Because we don’t want to fully rain on your parade, we’re giving you some loopholes that you can actually use on your next Disney World vacation! The 3-Hour Lightning Lane Window Don’t worry if you’re running a little late to your Lightning Lane because there is a 3-hour grace period where you can scan into your Lightning Lanes EVEN if it’s already way past your return time window! Disney could change this rule at any time, so we don’t suggest relying on it unless you really have to, but it’s a great trick to have up your sleeve if you’re stuck waiting in line for a different ride or your dining reservation ran a little over time. Kali River Rapids Lightning Lane CONFIRMED: The Hardest Lightning Lane to Book in Magic Kingdom Is NOT What You Think Getting Into the Park Without Early Entry Early Entry is a perk for guests staying at Disney hotels and other select resorts where they get 30 extra minutes in the morning to ride attractions in the park before it opens to the general public. But you actually don’t need to be staying at a Disney resort to scan into the park. While you do need a valid reservation to board attractions and enter certain lands, you don’t need to be staying at a Disney resort to actually enter the park. This is a great time to grab your morning coffee, take pictures with fewer crowds, and leisurely stroll without the worry of higher wait times.
