  2. Graham cracker, chocolate, and marshmallow. Three ingredients that make potentially the greatest summer treat – the s’more! We’re looking at a few delicious ways Walt Disney World s’mores put a creative spin on the classic treat. S’mores are like good stories, they’re best when shared. The Ganachery at Disney Springs For a decade guests have been visiting the The Ganachery at Disney Springs. The shop has been serving handcrafted artisanal s’mores made to order right before your eyes. After placing an order, you can watch as cast members toast a marshmallow to golden perfection, no campfire required. A graham cracker layered with caramel provides the perfect foundation. The toasted marshmallow is then added, followed by one of the shop’s signature in-house chocolates, which is melted to perfection and finished with a pinch of sea salt. Once pressed together, the s’more receives its final Disney touch: a powdered sugar Mickey Mouse dusted on top, creating a memorable finish that is distinctly Disney. Helping bring these sweet creations to life is Disney cast member, Tyler, an experienced chocolatier and Assistant Sous Chef whose passion for confectionery and guest experiences shines through in every detail. For Tyler, one of the most rewarding parts of his role is connecting directly with guests. “I like interacting with our guests and seeing how excited they are to come into a little chocolate shop like The Ganachery,” Tyler said. “I love showing and telling them what we have that is unique to our shop. They pull out their cameras, have big smiles on their faces, and can’t wait to taste it.” Tyler began his Disney culinary journey in the Disney College Program, working at EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios before transitioning to the more intimate setting of The Ganachery. Today, he is part of the team crafting mouthwatering chocolates and treats that delight guests visiting Walt Disney World. According to Tyler, the guest experience is made even more special by the shop’s open window concept. “Something that makes us at The Ganachery different is that we have a big open window, and guests are able to see all our processes,” Tyler explained. “From opening to close, guests can see us scaling different recipes, batching different ganache, the decorating process, or selecting chocolates at our front counter.” That blend of craftsmanship is part of what makes Disney’s culinary offerings stand out. Across Walt Disney World, chefs and culinary cast members continually find new ways to reimagine classic favorites, delivering flavors that feel both nostalgic and unexpected. If you want your s’more to feel like fall, don’t miss The Ganachery’s all new Pumpkin Spice S’more, one of many delicious food and beverage offerings guests can enjoy over the next few months. S’mores at Disney World But The Ganachery is not the only place guests can indulge in a creative take on the classic campfire favorite. At Amorette’s Patisserie in Disney Springs, the S’mores Croissant combines flaky, buttery layers with rich Nutella chocolate and marshmallow for an incredible twist on the beloved treat. Who said a s’more can’t be in liquid form? At EPCOT, take your taste buds on a flight with the S’morin’ Across America Milk Shake at Sunshine Seasons. Inspired by the ride just steps away, this over-the-top treat is a s’mores milk shake topped with toasted marshmallow, a chocolate bar, graham cracker, and even a Soarin’ hang glider garnish. And if you prefer your campfire classics with a fun twist, head over to Regal Eagle Smokehouse for the S’mores Bar, a decadent combination of fudge brownie, dark chocolate, toasted meringue, and smoked graham cracker that’s sure to have you asking for s’more. And as summer begins to give way to fall, nostalgic flavors of s’mores are getting a spooky twist. At Magic Kingdom’s Columbia Harbour House guests can enjoy the S’mores Cup, featuring layers of graham cracker pieces, chocolate ganache, popping chocolate candies, milk chocolate panna cotta, and marshmallow cream. Even ghosts might enjoy this treat and so many others! So, whether you’re craving a s’more or simply looking for your next sweet treat, there’s no better time to discover how Disney World is turning a timeless favorite into something truly special. Who knows, you may just find yourself coming back for s’more! 5. We spend a LOT of time comparing Disney World parks. Magic Kingdom has the classics. Animal Kingdom has the atmosphere. Hollywood Studios has some of the biggest rides. And EPCOT has enough snacks to turn “walking around the park” into an all-day competitive sport. EPCOT After Hours But after attending Disney After Hours at both EPCOT and Hollywood Studios, we noticed one thing EPCOT is doing WAY better. It knows how to feel empty. That sounds like a strange compliment for a theme park, but when you’ve paid up to nearly $200 for a special event promising limited crowds and short waits, EMPTY is exactly what you want. And EPCOT After Hours gave us much more of that glorious, where-did-everybody-go feeling than Hollywood Studios did. The After Hours Promise Disney After Hours is a separately ticketed event available on select nights at Disney World. Both the EPCOT and Hollywood Studios versions typically run from 9:30 PM to 12:30 AM, although ticket holders can enter the park beginning at 7 PM. Once the park closes to the general public, event guests get three hours of access to select rides plus included popcorn, ice cream novelties, and bottled drinks. EPCOT After Hours Event At EPCOT, the attraction lineup currently includes heavy hitters like: Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Test Track Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure Frozen Ever After Soarin’ Living with the Land Spaceship Earth Mission: SPACE Gran Fiesta Tour The Seas with Nemo & Friends Hollywood Studios has its own formidable lineup with Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, Slinky Dog Dash, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Tower of Terror, Toy Story Mania!, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, and more. So, Hollywood Studios certainly isn’t losing because its ride lineup is weak. Quite the opposite — that’s part of its problem. Hollywood Studios Gets Bottlenecked Hollywood Studios has a concentrated collection of extremely popular rides. Normally, that’s a selling point. During After Hours, it can work against the park. When our team attended Hollywood Studios After Hours, we noticed wait times shoot up around 7 PM when After Hours guests began arriving while regular daytime guests were still inside the park. Slinky Dog Dash That’s an important distinction with these events. You can enter at 7 PM. Disney does not magically whisk every daytime guest through a trap door at 7:01. For a while, you’re mixing two crowds together. Hollywood Studios is also relatively compact, with much of the crowd funneling into Toy Story Land, Galaxy’s Edge, Sunset Boulevard, and the central Hollywood Boulevard area. Even when attendance is limited, you can still SEE everybody. EPCOT Has Room to Breathe During our EPCOT After Hours visit, we noticed almost immediately that the park seemed to handle the influx of event guests better. Around 7:49 PM, most attraction waits were still pretty reasonable, despite the After Hours crowd beginning to arrive. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure eventually hit 50 minutes, but most of the park wasn’t seeing the same broad spike we’d noticed at Hollywood Studios. EPCOT After Hours We should put an asterisk here. It was raining that night, so some people were likely hiding indoors and waiting for the weather to improve. But once the event actually got underway, that explanation stopped carrying much weight. EPCOT After Hours EPCOT became EMPTY. Not “Disney empty,” where somebody posts a suspiciously well-timed photo of an empty sidewalk while 900 people stand six feet outside the frame. Actually empty. The Wait Times Got Ridiculous By 10:35 PM, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure was posted at just 5 minutes, and Soarin’ had no wait around 11:18 PM. Our reporter noted that guests riding Living with the Land would likely get their own boat. A PRIVATE Living with the Land boat? That is basically a yacht charter as far as we’re concerned. Living with the Land is attraction royalty and shall be treated accordingly. EPCOT After Hours At 12:21 AM, with only minutes remaining in the event, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind was posted at 30 minutes and Test Track at 15 minutes. Everything else was sitting at 5 minutes. There was even a last-minute migration toward Spaceship Earth around 12:29 AM as guests tried to squeeze in one final ride before closing. EPCOT After Hours THAT is what we want from After Hours. You aren’t spending half of your three-hour event calculating whether a 35-minute line is worth sacrificing another ride. You’re just… riding things. And It FEELS Empty The wait times only tell part of the story. Our reporters kept mentioning how deserted different parts of EPCOT felt. The area near The Seas was described as a “ghost town.” Journey of Water was empty. World Showcase began clearing rapidly as restaurants and shops closed. One reporter summed up the difference perfectly: EPCOT’s larger footprint and spread-out attractions made the event feel much less attended than Hollywood Studios. That’s the secret. EPCOT After Hours EPCOT is enormous, which can be mildly infuriating at 2 PM when you’re walking from Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure to Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. During After Hours, that enormous footprint becomes an asset. People disappear into it. You can walk through entire sections without navigating stroller traffic, tour groups, or somebody stopping directly in front of you to conduct a six-person family meeting. The park finally has breathing room. EPCOT Gives You More Atmosphere, Too! Here’s where EPCOT surprised us. There was actually a decent amount happening besides rides. Mariachi Cobre performed in Mexico. There was additional live music in Canada. A DJ played near CommuniCore Hall. Mickey was meeting near the Walt Disney statue, while Minnie was greeting guests in France. EPCOT After Hours We also found several PhotoPass photographers, and because crowds were low, photographers seemed able to spend a little extra time getting different shots. EPCOT After Hours There were even special props, including a Tinker Bell lantern near the tea garden and another light-up prop near Creations Shop. Hollywood Studios does offer nighttime entertainment during After Hours, including Disney Movie Magic and Wonderful World of Animation, plus roaming characters. But during our visits, EPCOT simply felt like there was more happening throughout the park. Our reporter’s review at the time was pretty decisive: “superior to offerings at DHS.” EPCOT After Hours And then there’s the maple popcorn… We Need to Discuss the Maple Popcorn Yes, standard After Hours snacks include popcorn. But the complimentary popcorn being handed out in Canada during our visit was MAPLE POPCORN. EPCOT, you beautiful show-off. EPCOT After Hours That doesn’t single-handedly justify the price of an After Hours ticket. We have SOME financial standards. But it doesn’t hurt. Unfortunately, this brings us to EPCOT After Hours’ biggest weakness. Eat Before 9:30 PM If your brilliant plan was to buy an EPCOT After Hours ticket and spend three hours eating and drinking your way around World Showcase, abort mission. This is not that event. A LOT of World Showcase closes once regular park hours end. EPCOT After Hours During our visit, Italy and Germany were completely closed. Refreshment Outpost and much of China were closed. La Cava del Tequila wasn’t operating. France had virtually nothing open besides Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. EPCOT After Hours Disney even closed the World Showcase pathway between Norway and France, meaning guests couldn’t simply continue around the lagoon. That made traveling between Frozen Ever After and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure a much bigger hike. EPCOT After Hours And our reporters repeatedly noticed that complimentary snack locations felt pretty far apart once they got deep into World Showcase. There were a few exceptions. Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe was open when we checked, as were Rose & Crown Pub and Yorkshire County Fish Shop later in the evening. EPCOT After Hours But we would NOT use valuable After Hours time for a culinary crawl. Instead, use that 7 PM admission. Arrive early, eat dinner, visit festival booths if they’re operating, explore World Showcase, and catch Luminous, The Symphony of Us if it’s showing. Then, when 9:30 PM rolls around, change gears. It’s ride time. Hollywood Studios Still Wins for Some People This isn’t us declaring EPCOT the undisputed After Hours champion for every person on Earth. Hollywood Studios makes a very strong argument if your entire objective is riding blockbuster attractions. Rise of the Resistance, Slinky Dog Dash, Tower of Terror, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, and Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run make for one serious three-hour ride marathon. And Hollywood Studios is smaller. You aren’t hoofing it halfway around World Showcase every time your priorities change. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster If you want maximum thrill rides with minimal walking, Hollywood Studios could easily be your winner. But if the reason you’re paying extra for After Hours is that you want to experience Disney World without feeling surrounded by Disney World crowds? We’re picking EPCOT. EPCOT Understands the Assignment Disney After Hours tickets aren’t cheap. EPCOT tickets in 2026 range from $155 to $179 before tax, while Hollywood Studios tickets range from $155 to $189 depending on the date. At those prices, “slightly less crowded than normal” isn’t terribly exciting. We want empty walkways. We want five-minute waits. We want a private boat on Living with the Land and enough open pavement around The Seas to briefly wonder whether the park forgot you were still there. EPCOT at night EPCOT delivered that. Its massive footprint, usually responsible for thousands upon thousands of vacation steps, suddenly becomes its greatest advantage. Limited attendance gets diluted across a huge park, and the result feels genuinely exclusive in a way Hollywood Studios didn’t during our back-to-back experiences. Heya Mickey! Hollywood Studios has incredible rides. EPCOT has space. And at an event specifically designed to sell you fewer crowds, that space might be the most valuable attraction in the park. Disney notes that guests “will be surrounded by massive physical sets blending seamlessly with huge media scenes, putting you into the middle of the action as you feel like you’re hurtling across many worlds.” ©Disney The expansion will also be home to Stark Flight Lab, which is an attraction that will feature Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, and Brie Larson as Captain Marvel. On this attraction, guests will sit in a two-person “gyro-kinetic pod” and roll along a track before stopping in front of a giant robot arm. ©Disney NEWS: Two NEW Disneyland Rides Announce 2028 Opening Pueblo Esperanza At D23, we got a look at all THREE attractions coming to Pueblo Esperanza, the land that replaced the former DinoLand U.S.A. and will be inspired by several movies, including Encanto and Indiana Jones. First, we learned about the classic Disney carousel attraction. This will be called El Carrusel de los Animalitos, which translates to “The Little Animals’ Carousel.” The attraction will feature 22 distinct Disney characters as options to ride, including Heimlich from A Bug’s Life, Pua from Moana, Kevin from Up!, and so many more! Eeyore ride vehicle! The name and more details about the Encanto attraction were also announced! There will be NO height requirement, so the whole family can ride! The name of this attraction is Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto. ©Disney Finally, we got a look into the new Indiana Jones attraction, which will be built in the former DINOSAUR building. Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent will bring guests into a portal to the underworld and have them involved in a chase to escape before time runs out! The ride will include an Animatronic based on none other than Harrison Ford! Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent! Disney’s Encanto Ride Concept Art Is Full of Hidden Details, and We Found Some Gold The Lion King Land in Disneyland Paris Disneyland Paris will be home to Disney’s first-ever The Lion King-themed land AND the first themed attraction to the film! We got a closer look at one of the attractions coming to the land! It will be a log flume ride, which will follow Simba’s journey from cub to king! According to Disney, the attraction will take guests on a “sensational and musical adventure, listening to classic songs and passing through a variety of memorable scenes from the film.” ©Disney New Sneak Peek of Disney’s Lion King Water Ride Piston Peak A new Cars-themed land is coming to the Magic Kingdom in Disney World and will be home to dining, shopping, and two new attractions! We got a closer look at those attractions at D23. The first is called Miss Fritter’s Daredevil Spin-Along, which is the family-friendly attraction of this land. Miss Fritter, the school bus with a larger-than-life personality, will take center stage as the huge, school-bus-sized animatronic host of the wildest demolition derby yet. ©Disney The other attraction will be more thrilling! In this new ride, each car is competing for the fastest lap through the wilderness. The attraction will be called Cars Ridge Run Rally. ©Disney HUGE Ride News Announced for ‘Cars’ Expansion in Magic Kingdom Monstropolis Disney announced some MAJOR news surrounding this new land coming to Hollywood Studios! First of all, the opening timeline was expedited, and it will now open sometime in 2027! The land will be home to a quick-service location — Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza — which will serve up some quick slices of pizza to its guests. ©Disney Another restaurant is inspired by Harryhausen’s — the sushi restaurant where Mike and Celia go on a date! During your meal, guests will be able to watch a full-sized Animatronic of the Chef preparing food! They also revealed that this menu will be like none other in Disney World! ©Disney The theater show in the former Muppet*Vision 3-D building will be called “Welcome to Monstropolis,” and will be hosted by Mike and Sulley themselves! It will also feature a song by Randy Newman, which is the FIRST one he has ever written for a theme park! Disney also revealed that the suspended coaster will NOT open with the land in 2027. ©Disney NEWS: Monsters, Inc. Coaster Details, Will NOT Open With Land in Disney World Villains Land We FINALLY got some information on the Magic Kingdom expansion behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad! Villains Land will focus on all the iconic Disney villains, but mainly Cruella de Vil, the Evil Queen, and Dr. Facilier. This storyline will be brand new and an original take on these iconic villains, despite us already knowing who they are. It will reflect the personality of the villains who own them, and they invite guests into the mysteries of treats, trinkets, and more temptations! ©Disney One of the headlining attractions is a Maleficent Coaster! This will take guests through the enchanted briar around her mountaintop fortress and will include elements never attempted before and will be groundbreaking! ©Disney The other attraction will be a dark ride hosted by the Magic Mirror! The ride will feature a combination of special effects and physical set pieces that will bring his Mirror Realm, as well as iconic villains to life. From the concept art, it looks to be a boat ride! We have yet to receive any information regarding shopping, dining, and entertainment, and an opening timeline has not been announced. ©Disney We CANNOT WAIT for these expansions to open! 12. Spaceship Earth is a ride and the icon of EPCOT, and now it’s finally going to get a long-awaited update. EPCOT Disney dropped a ton of news recently at D23 — from brand-new lands, ride updates, and more. One of those announcements was that Spaceship Earth would be receiving a refurbishment in the future. However, when the news broke, not all of the Disney fans were happy. The Next Chapter Begins During the “Horizons: A Carousel of Progress” panel at D23, Disney Imagineer Ali Rubinstein confirmed that Spaceship Earth is getting its first real update in nearly 20 years. The current version of the ride celebrates human communication, but the reimagined attraction will shift its focus to human connection, bringing the story into the present day and beyond. New magic is coming to every scene, and while the classic EPCOT spirit of the ride will stay intact, Disney says the way that story gets told is about to change. ©Disney That hesitation makes a lot of sense once you consider the timeline. Spaceship Earth actually closed for a refurbishment as recently as last fall, reopening in October 2025. But as we reported at the time, that refresh turned out to be far more modest than fans were hoping for — no new scenes, no updated narration, no story overhaul. It’s a big reason this new announcement is landing with a mix of excitement and skepticism rather than pure celebration. Spaceship Earth Adding to that skepticism: this isn’t even the first time Disney has promised this exact kind of overhaul. Back at D23 in 2019, the company said Spaceship Earth would stay a journey through time but get new scenes, a new guide, and all-new narration centered on storytelling and shared human experience. Sound familiar? Six years later, it looks like that promise may finally be coming true, but plenty of fans aren’t ready to celebrate until they see it for themselves. EPCOT What Fans are Saying Reader reactions have ranged from cautiously hopeful to downright weary. One commenter summed up the frustration many longtime EPCOT fans feel about the pace of updates across the park: “Didn’t they just refurb this? We are in perpetual shutdowns of rides phase. Endless construction.” Others are firmly in the “if it ain’t broke” camp. “Leave it alone,” one fan wrote, reflecting a sentiment shared by Guests who love Spaceship Earth exactly as it is and worry that a reimagining could lose some of what makes the ride special. Then there’s the wait-and-see crowd, still recovering from years of big Disney announcements that took much longer than expected to materialize — or didn’t pan out quite as promised. “I will believe it when I see it, just like everything they have been announcing,” one reader commented. Spaceship Earth It’s a fair point. Disney didn’t share a timeline for when these Spaceship Earth changes will actually happen, and given the ride’s history of announced-but-delayed updates, it’s understandable that fans want to see concrete progress before getting too excited. Still, there’s plenty of reason for optimism here too. A refresh centered on human connection feels timely, and after two decades without a real overhaul, Spaceship Earth is due for some new magic. Keep it locked to DisneyFoodBlog for the latest updates on Spaceship Earth, EPCOT, and everything else happening across Disney Parks as more details roll in. 16. Christmas at Disney World is magical with the giant tree in the parks and the delicious snacks everywhere you turn. But there’s one thing about a Christmas trip to Disney that is not magical: the flight prices. Frontier Plane at the Orlando Airport While this week is such a fun time to visit Disney World, it’s also one of the most expensive weeks of the year to fly into Orlando. The good news is that “expensive” doesn’t have to mean “unaffordable.” With the right timing and a few insider tricks, it’s realistic to land round-trip flights to Orlando for around $250 per person, even during the holiday rush. Here’s exactly how to do it. Book 51–58 Days Before Christmas Holiday airfare doesn’t behave like normal airfare. Instead of getting cheaper the longer you wait, it tends to climb the closer you get to departure, since seats sell out rather than sit empty. Multi-year booking data consistently points to one sweet spot for Christmas fares: 51 to 58 days before December 25th. For a Christmas Day 2026 flight, that lines up with booking between roughly October 27th and November 3rd, 2026. This is the window where fares have historically been at or near their lowest point of the whole season. If you’re reading this in August or September, this is genuinely still early — mark your calendar for late October so you don’t miss the window. ©MCO Avoid Booking Inside 21 Days of Departure On the flip side, waiting too long is the single most common way to overpay for Christmas flights. Fares can jump noticeably in the final three weeks before a holiday departure, as remaining seats become scarcer. For a December 25th flight, that means avoid booking after roughly December 4th, 2026. If you’re still watching prices in mid-December, you’re already in the expensive zone — book sooner rather than hoping for a last-minute drop. Southwest Planes at Orlando International Airport Fly on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day Itself It feels counterintuitive, but flying on the actual holiday is often one of the better-value travel days of the entire season, simply because most travelers go out of their way to avoid it. December 24th and December 25th have historically been priced lower than the days immediately surrounding them. The days right after Christmas tend to be some of the most expensive travel days of the year, since that’s when everyone else is trying to fly home or start their trip. If your family is flexible on exactly which day you arrive at the parks, building your itinerary around a Christmas Day arrival can be one of the single biggest savings on this list. Baggage claim! Fly Midweek to Save Day of the week matters almost as much as time of year. Tuesday and Wednesday are consistently the cheapest days to fly into Orlando. Sunday and Monday tend to run the most expensive. Handy bonus for 2026: Christmas Eve falls on a Thursday and Christmas Day on a Friday, so building a trip around those dates already leans toward the cheaper side of the week. Shifting a return flight from a Sunday to a Tuesday, even by a couple of days, can meaningfully change the total fare. MCO Airport Security Compare Airports: MCO vs. SFB Most flights to Walt Disney World land at Orlando International (MCO), but budget carrier Allegiant flies into Orlando Sanford International (SFB), about 45 minutes north of the parks — and it’s worth comparing both before you book. Orlando International (MCO) Served by nearly every major U.S. airline, plus international carriers. About 30 minutes from Disney property. Far more nonstop routes and schedule flexibility, especially useful over a high-demand week like Christmas. Orlando Sanford (SFB) Served primarily by Allegiant, an ultra-low-cost carrier, with base fares that regularly undercut MCO. About 45 minutes from Disney property. Limited schedule — Allegiant doesn’t fly every route daily, and holiday-week seats sell out early. For travelers whose home airport has a direct, low Allegiant fare into SFB, this comparison can be one of the biggest single savings on the whole trip — just price out the extra ground transportation before you commit. Orlando Sanford Airport Watch for Flash Sales: Travel Tuesday, Black Friday, and More Airlines run some of their biggest sales of the year right around the holidays themselves — which is a little ironic, but useful if you know how to work around it. Black Friday (November 27, 2026) and Travel Tuesday (December 1, 2026) are two of the most reliable flash-sale days on the airline calendar, with carriers like Southwest, Frontier, Spirit, and Alaska historically offering steep base-fare discounts. The catch: these sales almost always carve out blackout dates covering the December holiday season itself, so the discount typically won’t apply to your actual December 24th–25th flight. The workaround: use a Travel Tuesday or Black Friday fare for the shoulder days just outside the blackout window — arriving a few days early or heading home in early January — and book your actual Christmas-week flight separately using the timing strategies above. Sign up for airline email lists now so you see these sales the moment they launch; they often require booking within just a day or two. Orlando International Airport Actual Prices in 2026 To show these strategies in action, here’s what round-trip fares to Orlando International (MCO) actually looked like for a Christmas week trip (December 23rd–30th): Atlanta (ATL) to MCO: $232 round-trip on Delta; $218 round-trip on Frontier Charlotte (CLT) to MCO: $336 round-trip on Frontier Boston (BOS) to MCO: $412 round-trip on Southwest A little flexibility on dates and airports goes a long way toward getting you to Disney World without breaking the bank. 17. Halloween season has officially arrived in Disney World, and we are SO feeling the spooky season vibes. We’ve been drinking our pumpkin spice lattes, checking out some Halloween food, admiring all the fun fall and Halloween decor in Magic Kingdom, and going to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Cruella Cookie Sandwich Well, speaking of the party, we kinda’ have something we need to warn you about, especially if you plan on Mobile Ordering any food during the event. So we recently attended Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, which is a special ticketed event that happens on select nights in Magic Kingdom through October 31st. One of the things we love MOST about the party is that it has special foods and drinks that you can only get at the party, but we’ve run into a little bit of a food problem there! Minnie Witch Hat So the cool thing is that you can use Mobile Order during the party to order your food and drinks ahead of time. HOWEVER, we had a problem with that. Typically, you place your order on the My Disney Experience app and select a window of time to pick it up. Then you go to the restaurant and let the app know that you’ve arrived. Usually after that, you get a notification when your food is ready for pick-up. Mobile Order Well, we did that, just like we always do, at the party, but we got a notification that our order was ready to be picked up BEFORE our scheduled time had even started and BEFORE we had even let the app know that we were at the restaurant. And that happened TWICE. And, yes, our food was actually ready EARLY. Obviously, this is a little frustrating when you’re over on the far side of the park, and your food is waiting for you on the other side, but you had plans to pick it up at a certain time (which is how Mobile Order is supposed to work). Skull-icious Cake We don’t know if this problem was specific to the party we attended or if it’s something that might be a continuous problem throughout other parties, but we wanted to give you a heads-up, just in case. We’ll keep an eye out for more Disney World news, so stay tuned to DFB for more. 6 Brutal Mistakes I Already Saw at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party IT'S SPOOK-TACULAR! 19. LEVEL99 has been a major hit since it opened at Disney Springs, and we’re not the only ones who think so! LEVEL99 game room entrance This interactive, social entertainment experience is a destination for “real-world, challenge-based, social entertainment” for adults, featuring physical and mental challenges set in artistic environments. We’ve had SO much fun at LEVEL99, but they’ve just announced a major change that we think will make the experience even BETTER! Instructions are replacing Hints! Previously, before you would go to play one of the games at LEVEL99, the Entry Screen outside of the game room would give you the option to view Hints about what to expect from the game. From there, it was sort of up to you as a player to figure it out. This meant that you could be spending some time trying to determine what exactly you were supposed to be doing before actually doing it. Entry Screen But now, LEVEL99 has revealed that Instructions have replaced Hints on all game Entry Screens! Now when you click the Instructions lightbulb in the bottom right-hand corner of any Entry Screen, you’ll see a pop-up that includes the Goal, Rules, and Star info for the game — no more guessing what you’re supposed to be doing! Brain Cells game Using the lightbulb is still optional, and many folks may still prefer to solve the puzzle on their own, but the Instructions for each game are now there if players want them. Entry Screen The Disney Springs location is the largest LEVEL99 to date, and you’ll find it on the West Side of Disney Springs. If you’re interested in going on your next trip, you can buy tickets in advance of your visit at level99.com. Tickets start at $29.99 per player for intervals of 1.5 to 2.5 hours of play. Island Bash There are three different types of games at LEVEL99: Rooms, Duels, and Art Hunts: Challenge Rooms are cooperative games for teams of 2-6 players, taking 1-4 minutes to complete. Each room features a unique experience in either the PHYSICAL, SKILL, or MENTAL categories. Physical rooms test “strength, balance, and flexibility.” Skill rooms test “accuracy, timing, and reflexes.” Mental rooms test “memory, problem-solving, spatial thinking… and more!” Duels are head-to-head challenges found throughout LEVEL99; Art Hunts are “a low-key scavenger hunt involving the playful art found all throughout the space. Each piece of art contains a hidden Glyph” as a fun way to explore the entire location. The location in Disney Springs features more than 40 original works of art. Magician’s Sideshow The goal of your LEVEL99 is to “work with your friends to discover new challenges, collect all the stars, find digital treasure, and master new experiences.” Think of it like an escape room, an obstacle course, and an arcade all wrapped into one! 21. A successful school year starts long before the first day of class. As part of its annual back-to-school efforts, Disney Cruise Line aims to inspire future generations with professional development and educational opportunities. New this year, Disney Programs welcomed the first-ever group of students from the University of The Bahamas into its Cultural Exchange Program. These students were provided real-world experience working in a variety of roles across Disney’s theme parks, resorts and water parks. This program continues Disney Cruise Line’s longstanding relationship with the university to help provide hospitality and leadership training. Alongside 11 other Bahamian students, music education student Turquoise embarked on his Disney Program at Walt Disney World Resort as a Quick Service Food and Beverage cast member. During the program, Turquoise got a firsthand look at the impact of supporting teachers during the Back-to-School season with Disney Cruise Line. Equipping Educators, Empowering Futures with Disney VoluntEARS For Turquoise, his experience working at Walt Disney World Resort has allowed him to dream big about the magic he will bring to his future classrooms, and getting involved with Disney Cruise Line VoluntEARS has proven to him the importance of giving back. “My first passion was music, but I fell in love with teaching through volunteering,” said Turquoise. “One of the moments that stayed with me was receiving an appreciation letter from a student I had the opportunity to teach. It reminded me how meaningful it can be to make a difference for a child.” Turquoise joined Disney Wish crew member VoluntEARS at Supply Zone for Teachers in Brevard County, preparing thousands of classroom supplies for local teachers ahead of the new school year. He shared how honored he felt to play even a small part in setting up local educators and their students for success. “In many places, teachers do not always have access to the books and supplies they need. As a future educator, it means a lot to know programs like this exist to help teachers create classrooms where students feel successful.” Turquoise alongside VoluntEARS from the Disney Wish at Supply Zone for Teachers. Turquoise also found inspiration in lessons learned through his unique experience working this summer at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park. “I never imagined I would work at Disney while studying education, but my Disney Program has shown me how much those lessons connect to the classroom. Inclusion, safety and creating meaningful experiences matter just as much for students as they do for guests.” Annual Back-to-School Giving Since 2012, Disney Cruise Line has participated annually with Supply Zone for Teachers through donations and volunteer events where crew members from the ships give back to the community. The Brevard Schools Foundation’s nonprofit resource center provides free school supplies throughout the county, preparing classrooms and students for success. “Our Disney Cruise Line VoluntEARS always arrive ready to jump in wherever they’re needed, and it’s amazing to see what they accomplish during the limited time they have in port,” said Nina Moser, director of development for Brevard Schools Foundation. “Their teamwork, positive energy, and willingness to serve make a tremendous difference and our team truly looks forward to each opportunity to work alongside them.” Far right: Crew member Becky helps assemble tie-dye kits for Supply Zone for Teachers. For Youth Activities crew member, Becky, this event was especially meaningful. Not only was it her first time participating as a Disney Cruise Line VoluntEAR, but she is also a teacher back home! “This event really touched my heart,” Becky shared. “As a teacher myself, having something like this is so important. Being able to have access to those resources that you might not be able to normally, helping set your classroom up for the year and making sure the kids you’re teaching actually have everything they need is so fulfilling because it means you can just jump straight in and all the learning is right there.” Supporting Students Across Port Communities Each year, Disney Cruise Line crew members continue to support students and educators in communities where Disney sails. That commitment carries across annual Back-to-School efforts in Florida, The Bahamas and, for the first time this year, Alaska. FLORIDA In addition to supporting Supply Zone for Teachers, Disney Cruise Line crew members assembled food packages with Children’s Hunger Project in Brevard County and set up learning spaces for educators at the Jack & Jill Center in Broward County. VoluntEARS also supported students through STEAM-focused programming, community events and hands-on conservation learning experiences in collaboration with organizations including Brevard Zoo and Cocoa Boys & Girls Club. THE BAHAMAS Since 2023, Disney Cruise Line has helped thousands of Bahamian students across Nassau, Abaco and Eleuthera receive the textbooks and supplies they need for a successful school year. This year, the work included expanded efforts through The Play Project initiative that included the development and refurbishment of safe play spaces, school beautification projects and kitting events alongside nonprofits like The Buddy Hield Foundation, love.futbol and Good Sports. ALASKA Crew VoluntEARS from the Disney Wonder had the chance to visit Harborview Elementary in Juneau. Alongside Southeast Alaska Food Bank, VoluntEARS donated boot and glove dryers along with hundreds of activity bags filled with learning books and games for the students in addition to pre-packaged snacks for all students at the school. The students even got a very special visit from Captain Mickey Mouse and Captain Minnie Mouse! Disney Cruise Line Year-Round Impact Disney Cruise Line is committed to making a positive, lasting impact in port communities around the world, supporting efforts that strengthen local communities, protect the environment and create meaningful opportunities for future generations. 26. We always make sure to bring you reviews of all the newest snacks around Disney World. Halloween! And right now, there are LOTS of new snacks to try as the Halloween menus and specialty items continue to roll out. With so many spooky options, it can be difficult to know which snacks you should try on your next visit. Which is why we are reviewing all the Halloween treats for you! On our last visit to Disney, we took a trip over to the Contempo Cafe at Disney’s Contemporary Resort to try the Spiced Pumpkin Cupcake for $6.79. This is a spiced pumpkin cake with cream cheese filling, topped with spiced buttercream and a ghost profiterole. Spiced Pumpkin Cupcake This pumpkin cake is moist, rich, and held its structure really well. The pumpkin flavor was strong without being over the top, and when combined with the cream cheese filling was delicious. This filling was smooth, creamy, and added the perfect amount of tanginess to the pumpkin flavor in the cake, but we really wish this filling went all the way to the bottom rather than stopping about halfway through. Spiced Pumpkin Cupcake The spiced buttercream was light and fluffy, with a vanilla flavor and a subtle hint of cinnamon spice. The sprinkles on top did not have any flavor, but they added a nice crunchy texture. The ghost profiterole had a light and airy pastry texture similar to a donut hole. Cutie Ghost! If you love pumpkin spice flavors, then this is a must-try and will be a fan favorite among both kids and adults for the great taste and cute design! 27. D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event gave us SO many details and updates on all the projects currently underway in Disney World. ©Disney We got news on Piston Peak, Villains Land, Tropical Americas, and a lot of new information about Monstropolis coming to Hollywood Studios, and today we are taking a deep dive into all the details and concept art about the new show coming to the land. Disney has confirmed that this highly anticipated new land, where guests will finally be able to roam and explore the streets of Monstropolis, will be opening sometime in 2027. At the initial opening, everything will be open in this land except the exciting Door Coaster, which will have a delayed opening. ©Disney Other than the coaster, this land will hold the iconic Harryhausen’s restaurant and a new show titled “Welcome to Monstropolis.” This show will be taking place in the Glob Theater, in the former location of Muppet Vision 3D. Disney has revealed that this show will be hosted by Mike and Sulley, and as explained by Chris Beatty, Vice President, Walt Disney Imagineering, “Sulley has been working on a small, homespun show, but Mike – ever the showman – has a few surprises up his sleeve that he thinks will bring down the house. Hopefully not literally.” This show will also include a brand-new song by Randy Newman called “Welcome to Monstropolis,” which will be the very first song Newman has composed for a Disney Park. Now that we’ve gone over all the details we’ve gotten so far, let’s take a look at this concept art! Welcome to Monstropolis Concept Art ©Disney Here you can see the stage has come to life with monsters, and it also looks like the theater boxes next to the stage that used to hold Statler and Waldorf and Bean in Muppet Vision 3D have been converted to screens showing some of the action happening on stage. ©Disney If you look back towards the stage, we can see that some of our favorite monsters are coming to life in this show. We, of course, see Mike and Sulley, but there are also several of the Oozma Kappa gang from Monsters University, including Don Carlton, Art, and Terri & Terry. ©Disney If you look towards the top of the stage, you can see some of the iconic doors that appear to be open to other locations, so we are hopeful that we will get to see some cool effects of these doors in the show. You can also see several members of the Child Detection Agency running around. ©Disney If you look at the bottom right corner of the concept art, you can see a cameraman filming the events on stage, seemingly live, to those screens beside the stage. So we think there may be a “live-broadcast” element to the plot of this new show. ©Disney In the bottom left corner of the screen, you can also see a monster band, which could also fit into this idea that Mike and Sulley are welcoming us to Monstropolis with a “live” performance that is being broadcast. ©Disney We also love all of the monster detail work on the stage itself, where you can see eyes, tentacles, and more. ©Disney And of course, we cannot ignore the chaos happening all around that seems to be caused by these small yellow monsters that appear to be wreaking havoc, so we think these little guys might play a big role in this upcoming show. ©Disney Overall, we cannot wait to experience this show and visit Monstropolis when it opens next year. We will continue to bring you all of the Disney World news, so stay tuned with Disney Food Blog so you never miss anything! Opening Timeline Revealed for Monstropolis in Hollywood Studios!
