A new chapter is beginning on Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, where Bakari, a 21-year-old male western lowland gorilla, is gradually settling into his new home and role as the leader of the park’s family troop. Bakari’s arrival marks an important milestone. For nearly three decades, the family group was led by Gino, our beloved silverback, who helped shape generations of gorillas at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and beyond. Now, Bakari represents the next generation, and the beginning of an exciting new era for the troop. “Bringing Bakari here is bittersweet because it means we’ve said goodbye to Gino, who was our silverback for almost 30 years since the park’s opening,” said Rachel, animal care manager with Disney’s Animals, Science and Environment. “But it’s also incredibly exciting. Bakari is the future of this family troop, and we’re looking forward to watching him grow into that role and hopefully help welcome new generations of gorillas for years to come.” A Careful Introduction & Building New Bonds Of course, introducing a new member to the troop isn’t as simple as saying “welcome, Bakari.” Behind the scenes, animal care experts are guiding a carefully planned introduction process designed to help Bakari settle into his new home and allow him and the females time to build positive social relationships with each other. Before arriving at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Bakari lived in a bachelor group at another Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA)-accredited zoo, where he spent time socializing with other males. Joining a family troop is a natural experience for adult male gorillas, but the group needs time to settle into their new dynamic which is why introductions happen gradually. First, the gorillas spend time seeing one another through a protected viewing area, allowing them to become familiar with each other while animal care experts closely monitor their interactions. As comfort levels grow, the introductions progress step by step, eventually allowing opportunities for touch and closer social interactions. Every milestone is guided by the expertise and observations of Disney’s animal care teams. “This is all very new for Bakari,” Rachel explained. “Our goal is to help him feel comfortable and confident at every stage. We take the process slowly because building those social relationships with the females is incredibly important.” This work is part of Disney’s ongoing commitment to exceptional animal care and is supported by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ (AZA) Species Survival Plan (SSP), which helps maintain strong, genetically diverse populations of western lowland gorillas in managed care.  “Pairing Bakari with our females can help strengthen the long-term future of the population,” Rachel said. “That’s important because we want future generations to be able to connect with these animals and be inspired to help protect them.” Getting to Know Bakari While Bakari is still getting to know his new family troop, animal care experts are also learning more about his unique personality. So far, he’s shown a calm and easygoing demeanor, often taking time to quietly observe his surroundings as he settles into life at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. One behavior that’s already becoming a favorite among his caretakers? Bakari loves to stretch out and lounge with his chin resting on his hand while taking in all the activity around him. Did You Know? The troop’s dominant silverback plays an important role in guiding and protecting the family, helping maintain a stable and cohesive dynamic. Gorilla troops are built around strong family bonds, often made up of multiple females and their offspring, with a single dominant male at the center.  Within the troop, gorillas learn from one another through daily interactions, making each new introduction an important step in building those relationships over time.  For guests, that means even more to explore and discover along Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail. As Bakari continues to settle into his new home, you may begin to see him interacting with other members of the troop, offering a unique opportunity to observe these incredible animals up close at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Bakari’s arrival also highlights the care, expertise, and science led by Disney’s animal care team to help protect this critically endangered species. EPCOT’s Mexico Pavilion is one of the most distinctive and popular pavilions in the park’s World Showcase. The pavilion provides a heavily themed environment, an attraction that harkens back to the earliest days of EPCOT, and, of course, a slew of dining options! Who’s ready for a sweet treat? Part of what makes Mexico so special is that some — but not all, as we’ll get to — of the pavilion is indoors. This controlled environment gives the whole pavilion a climate advantage over the rest of World Showcase, since it’s the only one unaffected by weather issues, including shifting temperatures and rain. Guests enter through a massive pyramid facade, pass through a gallery of Mexican artwork, and enter into a recreation of a Mexican village marketplace, the Plaza de los Amigos. The air-conditioned indoor setting is set at perpetual twilight, with a looming volcano and pyramid in the distance. So, what are the keys to dining in this environment? Let’s find out. San Angel Inn Restaurante Is Disney World’s Answer to The Blue Bayou Let’s begin just in front of that looming volcano with one of EPCOT’s opening day restaurants. Serving well-known Mexican dishes including tortilla soup, enchiladas, tacos, and more, this restaurant’s environment is essentially the closest dining experience Disney World has to the Blue Bayou. Like that Disneyland classic, the San Angel Inn Restaurante is an indoor restaurant that’s themed to be outside, with the vehicles of the Gran Fiesta Tour water ride passing right by the restaurant. San Angel Inn Restaurante 6 Overlooked EPCOT World Showcase Restaurants You Keep Forgetting to Add to Your List You Might Want to Save Your La Cava del Tequila Drink for AFTER Your Ride on Gran Fiesta Tour Speaking of Gran Fiesta Tour, a quick word of advice from personal experience: Maybe save grabbing a drink from La Cava for after your voyage, as the drinks have a tendency to be strong, and those boats have a tendency to rock. That said, definitely be sure to stop by, as La Cava offers over 200 tequilas, cocktails, Mexican beer, and wine, as well as light bites like guacamole and queso with corn chips. However, that popularity does lead to major crowds in a small space, which leads us to… The Vaqueros Falsetto Choza de Margarita May Offer Less of a Wait for A Drink If you’re looking for a refreshing drink without a long line, you can leave the pyramid and head across the promenade to the small outdoor portion of the Mexico Pavilion (told you we’d get there) to instead enjoy a hand-blended or frozen margarita at the Choza De Margarita window. These margaritas might not be handcrafted like you’ll find over at La Cava, but they’re still fruity, refreshing, and VERY boozy! Mango Margarita Poptail These 5 World Showcase Hacks Are Getting Out of Control in EPCOT There IS a Dining Option Outside the Pyramid at La Hacienda de San Ángel However, margaritas aren’t the only thing available outside. Located right on the World Showcase lagoon, La Hacienda de San Ángel provides gorgeous views as well as authentic Mexican cuisine like the Enchiladas de Chorizo (corn tortillas filled with plant-based chorizo and topped with beans, Ranchera salsa, Monterey Jack cheese, crema Mexicana, cotija cheese, and crispy onions) and premium margaritas. Enchiladas de Chorizo The Trend Disney Adults Wish You Would STOP In EPCOT’s Mexico Pavilion La Cantina de San Angel Offers a Hidden Gem Dessert Appropriately enough, our final point is about a hidden gem dessert located at the outdoor La Cantina de San Angel, and it’s the Churro Sundae. This decadent $7.99 dessert dish includes caramel and vanilla swirl soft serve (you can choose one or both) smothered in caramel sauce, with mini churros, and red, white, and green sprinkles. The caramel and vanilla soft serve is creamy and delicious, the caramel sauce is nice and gooey, and the churros are… well, your typical Disney World churros. The vanilla version of the Churro Sundae Bonus Tip: If you get this sundae early enough in the day, you can usually eat it in the seating area for La Hacienda de San Ángel, as that restaurant’s seating area is open to quick-service diners for the early part of the day before closing to prepare for dinner service. As we were sitting down waiting for the show to begin, we were shocked to see the one and only Mayor Winddancer on the screen. Hi Mayor Winddancer! In this all-new preshow, Mayor Winddancer is live on the air introducing the Zoogether Day festivities. Things start to go awry, and you can hear him call out right before the live-stream ends, “Can somebody get the bunny and fox on this?” Which is a great lead-up into Nick and Judy’s mission of saving Zoogether Day. If you are not aware, Mayor Winddancer is a new character introduced in Zootopia 2, so this new scene is an amazing way to further incorporate Zootopia 2 into this show. New preshow! There are other familiar Zootopia 2 characters, such as Nibbles Maplestick, that you can spot during the show as Nick and Judy visit many of the Zootopia neighborhoods as they try to uncover who is tampering with the Zoogether Day celebrations. If you’ve been counting down the days to spooky season, or rather the days until the first Halloween Horror Nights happens at Universal Orlando, you’re not alone. This event brings horror fans from all over the world to Universal Orlando to celebrate horror and be scared out of their minds. Halloween Horror Nights is coming soon! Usually, by this time of the year, we know about most of the haunted houses that are coming to Halloween Horror Nights, but Universal just dropped a HUGE announcement about a NEW house that’s coming this year dedicated to heavy metal musician and reality TV superstar Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away in 2025. Tickets are on sale now for Halloween Horror Nights, with prices ranging from $87.99 per person for a single-night ticket up to $129.99. Tickets tend to sell out fast, so you’ll want to jump on those before they’re gone. So far, nine other houses have been confirmed this year: Evil Dead Burn Hellraiser INVASION: Alien Abduction Cybergoria MADLANDS: Caged Cannibals H.R. Another scare zone, Downtown Clowntown, will be channeling Killer Klowns from Outer Space. Meanwhile, FORTNITEMARES will make its scare zone debut. The event will also feature special live entertainment and exclusive foods and drinks. A select number of Universal Studios Florida rides will also be open. Mr. Cupcake at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria, an example of the event’s unique treat offerings from the 2025 event. Disney World isn’t all hot dogs and pretzels, and if that’s all you’re eating, you might be missing out on some fantastic meals. There are some great restaurants across Disney World property, including a variety of signature restaurants where you can try high-end offerings. You’ve probably heard of some of the most famous of these spots, like California Grill and Le Cellier, but other top-notch restaurants are HIDING around property. And recently, we visited Disney World’s fanciest hotel to eat at a spot you probably haven’t heard of. Four Seasons Orlando Who wants to go to the Four Seasons Orlando? Meeeeee! The Four Seasons Resort Orlando is located on Disney World property inside the Golden Oak neighborhood, but it’s not owned by Disney. We visited their fine-dining restaurant Capa back in 2023, but we’ve been so busy trying other new restaurants that we haven’t been back since. So when our editor suggested we go back, we lit up like the viral Four Seasons Baby. Is Capa still worth a stop on your trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth? Let’s find out! Atmosphere The Four Seasons Resort Orlando is one of the priciest places you can stay in Disney World, with standard rooms often costing more than $1000 per night. Along with that fancy price tag comes some very fancy amenities, including a 17th-floor rooftop steakhouse called Capa. Capa The space has tons of indoor seating, with both booths and tables available. The rooftop terrace is the star of the show, though, which we requested for a reason. We were able to see both EPCOT and Hollywood Studios from our table, and if we had eaten a later dinner, we could’ve seen fireworks from the parks! Our table But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu This Spanish-influenced steakhouse offers fresh Florida seafood, high-quality beef, and small plates to try an array of items. The menu The dessert menu is more heavily Spanish-influenced, where you’ll find churros, gazpacho, and dulce de leche, among some more traditional Spanish desserts. The dessert menu And now, onto the main event — the food! Eats First up, we grabbed the Croquetas for $14. This is made with Jamón Serrano (dry-cured Spanish ham), bechamel sauce, and onion soubise. Croquetas These Croquetas had a crispy outside with a fluffy interior. They were filled with salty ham, creamy bechamel, herb oil, and sweet onions, so they were super flavorful and strong. Our only complaint is that we wish we had more, because we could eat 10 in one sitting – they’re that good! Croquetas For our entree, we got the New York Strip for $68. This is a 12-ounce prime steak from Creekstone Farms Premium Beef in Arkansas City, Kansas. New York Strip This New York Strip was melt-in-your-mouth tender and flavorful. It’s served with caramelized onions on top, which were sweet and umami and perfectly complemented the high-quality meat. This is a large enough serving size to share, but we don’t blame you if you’re keeping it all for yourself! New York Strip And for dessert, we finished with the Churros De Madrid for $18. These are churros served with chocolate and dulcey (blond chocolate) sauces. Churros De Madrid These churros are light and fluffy with a crispy fried exterior. They’re coated in vanilla sugar instead of a traditional cinnamon sugar, making the flavor warmer and more unique. The star of the show wasn’t the chocolate sauce, but the Dulcey. It’s creamy with caramel notes similar to dulce de leche, with a pinch of saltiness to add some depth. Churros De Madrid Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… You’re looking for a spot with awesome fireworks views. You can see Magic Kingdom AND EPCOT fireworks from this spot since it’s on the 17th-floor rooftop of the Four Seasons. It’s a really unique spot to enjoy the fireworks from. You want a top-of-the-line culinary experience. Some of the food we’ve had here has truly been absolutely FANTASTIC. This is a Spanish-influenced steakhouse with steaks, seafood, tapas, charcuterie, cheese, and more. If you’re looking for a high-quality meal, you will find it here. You’re looking for a special place to celebrate a special occasion. If you’re celebrating something, Capa can be a great place to include in your plans. The menu has plenty of options and the views are spectacular — all in all, it makes for a special experience. You should skip this Disney World spot if… You’re trying to save money and eat at cheaper restaurants. Meals here can be EXPENSIVE. Expect to drop a LOT of money on your experience here. If it’s cheap or budget-friendly restaurants you’re after, this might not be the best bet. You don’t have a car and want to use Disney transportation ONLY on your trip. This spot is in the Four Seasons hotel, and Disney transportation does NOT operate within there. You’ll need to arrange your own transportation to get there — i.e., use a rideshare service or use your own car. If you were just hoping to take Disney buses. boats, the monorail, etc. to dinner, that won’t work here. You are traveling with really picky eaters. While the menu is extensive and there is PLENTY to pick from, if you’ve got a super, super picky eater in the group who only eats chicken tenders and fries, this experience may be lost on them. There are chicken tenders and fries on the menu (in the kids menu), but the experience as a whole may simply not be “worth it” for those who don’t necessarily care about getting a super high-quality dish for their meal. Overall All in all, our dinner at Capa was absolutely phenomenal. They put a lot of care into the flavor combinations and the quality of ingredients chosen for this meal. We would definitely recommend this meal to someone looking for a fine-dining experience with a spectacular view. Just check out the sunset from the patio! So pretty! Planning a Disney World trip used to mean understanding some basic rules — book your dining, know your park hours, pack the essentials, and you were ready for your trip. Disney Springs! But if you’re gearing up for a trip anytime soon, it’s worth pumping the brakes before you finalize those plans. Disney has quietly rolled out a handful of changes over the past few months that could catch even a Disney World expert off guard. They’re easy to miss if you’re not looking for them, but they could genuinely reshape a day of your itinerary if you find out about them the hard way. Here’s what’s changed. 1. Pool Wristbands For years, Stormalong Bay at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts was the one pool where you needed a wristband just to prove you were a guest at the resort. That’s no longer the exception. Disney has recently started testing the same wristband system at Doubloon Lagoon, the feature pool at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter, with Cast Members stationed at the gates checking reservations before handing out a daily color-coded wristband. A similar setup has also cropped up at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Fuentes del Morro pool. For readers staying at these resorts, this means budgeting a few extra minutes to check in at the pool before you can jump in, and it’s a clear signal that “pool hopping” between resorts you’re not staying at is being cracked down on harder than ever. Limiting Boats Access The relaxing Sassagoula River Cruise used to be an easy way for anyone strolling through Disney Springs to hop a boat over to Saratoga Springs Resort or Old Key West Resort, no questions asked. That’s changed. As of late June, Disney now requires anyone boarding these boats to show a valid Disney Resort reservation, dining reservation, or recreation reservation before they’re allowed on. Cast Members are actively checking MagicBands and reservations at the dock, so a casual afternoon boat ride to explore these resorts isn’t something you can plan on unless you already have a reservation in hand. If a leisurely boat tour of the Sassagoula River was part of your itinerary, you’ll want to book something concrete at one of those resorts first. It’s also worth noting that the boat is currently closed to Old Key West Resort. Disney Springs Boat Dock 3. Big Thunder Mountain’s Height Requirement Here’s a rule change that actually works in families’ favor. Since reopening from its extended refurbishment, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad now only requires riders to be 38 inches tall, down from the previous 40-inch minimum. For families with a younger rider who was just short of the old cutoff, those two inches could be the difference between splitting up the group and everyone riding together this time. It’s a small change, but one worth double-checking against your kids’ current height before you build your Frontierland plans around who can and can’t ride. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad 4. No Strollers Allowed on the Wildlife Express Train Bluey’s Wild World at Animal Kingdom’s Conservation Station has become one of the most in-demand experiences for families with young kids, but getting there isn’t as simple as walking up. The only way to reach Conservation Station is by riding the Wildlife Express Train, and you will need to park any stroller at Harambe before boarding the train. It’s an easy detail to overlook when you’re already juggling little ones, snacks, and a diaper bag, so plan ahead if Bluey’s Wild World is on your family’s must-do list. Hi Bingo! 5. Disney Springs Parking Garages Guests who used to arrive at Disney Springs before dawn to snag a spot ahead of a big merchandise release, including recurring Pin Drop Tuesdays events, now have a new hurdle. The parking garages and rideshare loops at Disney Springs stay locked until 7 AM on those event days, and anyone who shows up early or tries to wait it out overnight will be asked to leave. For readers planning a trip around a specific merchandise drop, this means rethinking your arrival time entirely, since the early-bird strategy that used to work simply isn’t an option anymore. Access from the Lime Garage Disney World is always changing, and these five changes are proof that even a well-planned trip can use a last-minute double-check. Disney World is currently spending a lot of money expanding the parks, including adding brand new lands to three of its four parks, as well as adding an expansion to Magic Kingdom and upgrading rides. There’s a LOT of construction happening in the parks right now. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge However, it’s not just the parks that are getting some much-needed TLC right now. Disney World hotels are also getting huge upgrades. We’ve seen it recently with new lobbies, new rooms, and more. But now we know, thanks to The Orlando Business Journal, that Disney World is spending at least $30 million on projects OUTSIDE of the parks, and that includes some massive upgrades at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. At least $30.6 million is currently going into projects outside of the parks at Disney World, according to records from the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District. Those documents also showed that at least $24.4 million is being spent on interior renovations at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Earlier this year, guest rooms at Kidani Village at the hotel were refurbished, while refurbishment work is currently happening at Jambo House through January 2027. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge According to recent permits, the $24.4 million being spent at Animal Kingdom Lodge is for renovating guest rooms and common areas at Jambo House, including the “removal and replacement of finishes and fixtures.” Animal Kingdom Lodge is one of Disney’s deluxe resorts and is unique in that it is surrounded by four savannas where many animals roam free. The Savanna at Animal Kingdom Lodge Those documents also showed an additional $6.2 million being invested in building the new Hurly-Burly music lounge at Disney’s BoardWalk. Hurly-Burly will offer family-friendly activities during the day and will switch over to a 21-and-over venue at night with live music, cocktails, and light bites. ©Disney While it hasn’t been confirmed, we can guess from the concept art that this lounge will be located in the old Jellyrolls building. This includes “demolition, new walls, floors, ceilings, and finishes, new kitchen and bar equipment, new restroom finishes and limited modifications to the existing windows and doors,” according to a permit filed for the location. According to The Orlando Business Journal, a Disney World spokesperson said, “This is part of the significant investments across Walt Disney World that we are making to ensure we continue to be the number one reason people visit Central Florida. We’ve heard the Space Mountain rumors swirling, but what is actually confirmed and what is just talk? Space Mountain Space Mountain has been a Tomorrowland staple at Magic Kingdom since 1975. Lately, it feels like everyone has an opinion about whether the classic coaster is next in line for a major refurbishment. But we’re here to break down the rumors and what is true so far. It wouldn’t be shocking if Space Mountain saw a change. Disney has spent the last couple of years reinvesting heavily in Tomorrowland. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin closed for its own refurbishment, returning with new blasters, video monitors with real-time scoring, and a new scene featuring the robot character Buddy. That refresh alone has fans wondering: if Buzz got an update, is Space Mountain next? Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin So far, though, that’s all it is — a rumor. We reached out to Cast Members working at Space Mountain directly, and they told us they haven’t heard anything about upcoming changes to the attraction. Disney itself has not announced a closure date, a refurbishment plan, or really anything official regarding Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom. Until Disney says otherwise, it’s just a rumor. Space Mountain While Florida’s Space Mountain sits untouched for now, it’s worth remembering that Disney has already followed through on a total rebuild of Space Mountain on the other side of the world. Tokyo Disneyland’s Space Mountain closed back in 2024, and Disney is currently constructing a brand-new version of the ride. The renovated attraction is scheduled to debut in 2027 with new special effects and enhanced performance. While the ride will maintain its original concept, it will bring guests a new experience and new thrills when it reopens. ©Disney If Disney did decide to move forward with a Space Mountain refurbishment at Magic Kingdom, we could be looking at a similar playbook to what we just saw with Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. That attraction closed back in January 2025 for a full track replacement and a refreshed storyline, and it didn’t reopen until May 2026 — a construction timeline of well over a year. If Space Mountain were to undergo something similar, guests could see a lengthy closure rather than a quick refresh. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad As for when we might actually learn something concrete, all eyes are on D23 next month. Disney has historically used the event to make major park announcements, and with the new CEO, Josh D’Amaro, now in place, fans are watching closely to see what direction Imagineering takes next. You’re going to fall in love with this store’s new look at Downtown Disney at Disneyland Resort! Downtown Disney Earlier this year, the Pandora Jewelry store closed for a massive renovation. Now that the lengthy closure is over, the renovation is officially complete. Let’s take a look at the new changes that have come to the popular jewelry store. Disney put it best when they posted the store’s new look on Instagram — “New look. Same sparkle.” Pandora Jewelry has officially reopened in Downtown Disney, and you can now visit their beautifully reimagined space. Get ready to shop hand-finished necklaces, earrings, charms, bracelets, and so much more. ©Pandora From the post, the store looks amazing inside! It looks refreshed, elegant, and bright. We love the Pandora logo mirror on the back wall, and the setup is perfect for browsing. ©Pandora What we love most is the wall of Disney Princesses inside the store. The wall features rings and the Disney castle, as well as a hand-drawn art style of Ariel, Rapunzel, Jasmine, Cinderella, Snow White, and Tiana. Its design is absolutely unique and eye-catching. ©Pandora It looks like a lot of work was put into the renovation, and we can see why it took a few months to reopen the store. One of the things you can’t miss when visiting EPCOT is the nighttime show, Luminous, The Symphony of Us. However, nighttime shows have a tendency to get crowded, and unless you’re willing to stake out a good spot to watch the show early, you might not be able to get a good viewing spot. Luminous at EPCOT However, you can guarantee a good seat for Luminous by booking an EPCOT fireworks dining package. This package not only gets you a meal at your choice of a select group of EPCOT restaurants, but it also gets you a guaranteed good seat for the nighttime show. Now, you have a new restaurant choice for the dining package: Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya. That’s right. If you choose to book an EPCOT fireworks dining package, you can now choose EPCOT’s newest table-service restaurant, Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya in the Japan Pavilion. The dining package at Shiki-Sai includes an appetizer, traditional sashimi, an extensive selection of sushi, an exclusive dessert, and beverages available only with the dining package. Shiki-Sai While you dine, you’ll enjoy views of World Showcase Lagoon (and the views from this restaurant are spectacular). Then you can watch Luminous the Symphony of Us in the comfortable a/c at the restaurant. The dining package costs $149.50 per person for ages 10 and up and $74.70 per person for ages 3 to 9. These prices include taxes and gratuities. Look at that view! Advance dining reservations are highly recommended and will open on August 27th. Same-day reservations may be available, but on a limited basis. You’ll also need to arrive at the restaurant at the designated check-in time, which is 60 minutes before Luminous, The Symphony of Us starts. The dining experience lasts around an hour and ends when Luminous ends. Luminous The small print you need to know about: there’s a 24-hour cancellation policy for this dining package. The full package price will be charged if you cancel within 1 day or don’t show up for the reservation. Also, note that fireworks are not guaranteed as part of the experience, as the show may be rescheduled or canceled, although this is rare. There are so many incredible sweet treats and fun desserts across Disney World. It can be hard to decide what you should grab on your next visit. Disney Springs Especially in Disney Springs, where there are LOTS of options to choose from. Which is why we always make sure to review any new items so you know what you should prioritize getting. We just tried three new Disney Springs desserts, so we are bringing you our FULL review! First up, we stopped by The Polite Pig to snag the Salted Caramel & Maple Pecan Bar for $8. This is a chewy bar topped with a thick layer of maple pecans and salted caramel. Salted Caramel & Maple Pecan Bar This was a lovely dessert that complemented the barbecue menu of this spot extremely well. Surprisingly, this was not overpoweringly sweet, which made it a much more balanced treat than we were originally expecting. This was incredibly soft and had a flavor very similar to a graham cracker. Salted Caramel & Maple Pecan Bar We did feel like something was missing flavor-wise in this dessert, and a maple bacon would have taken this to the next level and balanced out all of the flavors perfectly. This was also a great size for the price. Overall, if you are grabbing a meal at The Polite Pig, then this is worth a try, especially if you love caramel and pecans! Salted Caramel & Maple Pecan Bar Next, we took a trip over to Vivoli il Gelato to try two items, starting with the Strawberry Shortcake for $11. This is a thick buttermilk biscuit filled with a large scoop of vanilla gelato, strawberry syrup, and small strawberry chunks. Strawberry Shortcake A word of warning: this treat is MESSY. It melted almost instantly upon stepping outside into the Florida heat, so be prepared to eat this one quick and be ready for a mess. Other than that, the vanilla gelato was rich and sweet yet wonderfully light. And the portion is fairly large, so if you can eat it quick this would be great to share. Strawberry Shortcake The strawberry syrup adds a nice layer of sweetness that is absorbed more into the biscuit than the gelato. The strawberries did not seem fresh and were most likely thawed frozen strawberry chunks, which means that while they contributed to the dessert’s texture, they did not carry much flavor. Strawberry Shortcake The absolute star of this treat had to be the homemade buttermilk biscuit! It was thick and fresh with a lovely fluffy interior. It soaked up the melted gelato and strawberry syrup to make for a wonderfully creamy bite. If you love a good biscuit, then we would definitely recommend trying this one. Overall, it was not the most accurate depiction of a Strawberry Shortcake that we’ve ever had, but it was a solid treat that’s worth a try! This biscuit is SO good! Last up, we grabbed the Crème Brûlée Bomboloni for $5.99. This is a thick, round fried bomboloni with vanilla pastry cream inside, coated in a hard caramelized shell. Crème Brûlée Bombolino The exterior is a crisp caramel coating that cracks when broken, just like a crème brûlée. This held its structure very well even in the heat, and the caramel was sweet and rich without being overpowering. The dough was thick, fluffy, and perfectly soft throughout. Crème Brûlée Bombolino The vanilla pastry cream added a nice creamy consistency and a little more sweetness, although it was a little sparse in the treat. This is a great portion size that could be shared by two people, and we think kids will love this one for both the sweetness and how it breaks apart!
