  4. When we learned that a UK theme park was opening an entire time travel-themed park expansion, it’s safe to say we were pretty darn intrigued. ©Peter Haygarth Kynren: The Storied Lands – an addition to the original Kynren attraction — is opening on July 18th, and from everything we’ve seen, this new expansion is one you won’t want to miss. While we’ve had a look at our fair share of concept art and photos, we have a new first look INSIDE the actual park, and it’s going to make you want to plan a trip! The new lands at the theme park-like experience include: The Trusty Steed, a horse stunt show adapted from Fina and the Golden Cape, which will feature medieval knights clashing on horseback, a fearless female warrior showing off her courage in a breathtaking display of horsemanship and daring stunts, enormous sets, stunning special effects, and the real Auckland Palace as the backdrop. The Legend of the Wear, a water-based stunt show based on the local legend of the Lambton Worm, features water effects, fight scenes, and stunts on a large lake, and apparently includes a monstrous, cursed creature that emerges from the water. The Lost Feather, a bird show featuring 300 birds, is staged in a 3,600-seat arena inspired by a bird’s nest. The show is described as a “visually stunning free-flying bird show centered around the relationship between birds and humanity.” A Viking-themed area where warriors clash, and fires rage as part of a multi-sensory demonstration of the legendary warriors. A Victorian Imaginarium, where guests will enter a “Victorian library where imagination has escaped from the pages.” As they wander through an outdoor storytelling maze, guests will “encounter curious characters, inventive minds and theatrical surprises inspired by the wonder and creativity of the Victorian age.” This area will eventually tie to a larger Victorian Village planned for a future phase of development (currently targeted for 2027, subject to planning approval). ©Kynren This is an addition to the original Kynren, which is located in Bishop Auckland, County Durham. The entire park focuses on taking guests through iconic moments in British history. Tickets are available for select days of the week, and when you go to purchase, you’ll need to choose a time slot to arrive for your visit. They’re ÂŁ30 GBP each, which translates to $40 USD per adult. Children’s tickets are ÂŁ20 GBP or about $26.66 US dollars each. ©Kynren We’ll be on the lookout for even more updates from Kynren — The Storied Lands and beyond. 5. A big change has hit Disney Springs, and we are here to tell you all about it. In case you did not know, there are buses that will take you from each of the Disney World hotels directly to Disney Springs. Disney Springs This is a fantastic transportation option and lets resort guests easily reach Disney Springs. In the past, non-resort guests would use these buses as well, however, that has officially changed. Let’s dive into everything you need to know. Disney has officially started a new rule that the Disney Springs buses and boats are only available to guests with a hotel stay or a reservation for a meal or experience at one of the Disney hotels. And those reservations must be within two hours in order to be granted access to the buses and boats. Cast Members are stationed at the entrance to the bus area and boat dock to scan Magic Bands and passes to confirm a valid hotel stay or reservation before letting anyone in. Disney Spring Bus Station This is important for several reasons, the first being resort hopping. One of the most popular Disney activities to do without a park ticket is to resort hop and visit different Disney hotels. However, since the Disney Springs buses can no longer be used to resort hop, there is no free way to do this activity. Guests can still access the resorts from the buses at the parks; however, unlike parking at Disney Springs, parking at the four theme parks has a fee. Which is why so many people would park at Disney Springs and then resort hop from there for free. Disney Springs transportation rules This also does mean that resort guests will have better use of their transportation perk. Since it was so popular to resort hop from Disney Springs, those bus lines could get very long, which meant that resort guests actually staying at these hotels could experience long waits to use this transportation perk. Disney Springs Bus Station We are sad to see one of our favorite resort-hopping options be removed at Disney World, although we do hope that it ensures a more positive experience for guests paying to stay at a Disney hotel. And if you had your heart set on exploring Disney’s Boardwalk Inn, the Contemporary Resort, or any of these Disney hotels, you still can! Disney Bus It will just require a little more planning and for you to pay for parking at a Disney park, or reserve dining or an experience at one of the hotels. As an important note, if you do have dining or an experience booked, you can park directly at whichever hotel you have the reservation booked for free. 7. A big change has hit Magic Kingdom, and we don’t know what to think about it. Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress One of our favorite attractions, and favorite ways to beat the heat in Tomorrowland, is going under a long refurbishment and refresh, and we don’t know what to do with ourselves! The Carousel of Progress is officially closed at Disney World. Disney hasn’t announced an official reopening date but has said to expect a reopening in 2027, so we have a while before we can visit with our favorite family of the past decades. ©Disney We visited the Carousel of Progress this morning and noticed that construction walls had already gone up around the entrance. Construction walls have gone up We imagine that we’ll be seeing these construction walls for a while now. Yep, it’s closed What’s coming to the attraction? Well, MAJOR changes! All four decade scenes will be changed, and a new opening scene with Disney World’s first Walt Disney animatronic will be added. We’re happy to say that “There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow” will be sticking around! ©Disney Act 1 will be the 1960s, and we will open with the historic moon landing. The family will be gathered around the television to witness one of humanity’s greatest achievements. Act 2 will take us to the 1980s, where everything is bigger and better. It will be Halloween Night of 1985, and Sarah will be taking center stage, talking about her new appliances and gadgets. Don’t worry, Uncle Orville will still be covered regarding the lack of privacy. ©Disney Moving on, Act 3 will be the New Millennium with New Year’s Eve 1999. Not everyone might make it to midnight, but the whole family is here to celebrate. The final fourth act will push towards the possible future where a helpful robot might assist with everyday tasks, to even space travel, since a beautiful tomorrow is just a dream away. What will the future bring? What do you think about the changes? Tell us your thoughts in the comments and make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more Disney news. WE NEED TO KNOW. 8. You thought the Disney World changes were over for a while? HA! It feels like they’re never going to end these days! Construction is going on all around the resort thanks to the addition of new lands like Villains Land, Monstropolis, and Pueblo Esperanza. While these are examples of major projects, there are little changes going on all the time as well. For example, Disney World is changing BIG TIME next month! Grab your costumes and let’s see what major change is coming. It’s time to get spooky in Disney World! We are one month away from the start of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, and we couldn’t be more excited. This annual holiday event officially starts on August 7th and will run on select nights until October 31st. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party This party is an extra ticketed event that takes place in Magic Kingdom after the park closes. You can meet rare characters, try out specialty snacks, experience exclusive entertainment, and more. This event sells out almost every day, so it’s safe to say it’s seriously popular. Not So Scary Snacks! Plus, this is the only time adults can wear costumes in Disney World! Not only does this event take over the Magic Kingdom at night, but it is also a major part of the theme park during the day! Even if you aren’t going to the after-hours event, you can still get in on the Halloween fun. The Fall decor starts taking over the park in late July and early August each year for all Magic Kingdom guests to enjoy. Fall in Disney World Disney will also offer limited-time snacks during the day! Not all of those sweet and savory treats are party-exclusive, so even if you don’t get the extra ticket, you can still get some fun snacks. We love that you can still get in on the major fun and change with just a regular park ticket. Halloween Mickey Cinnamon Roll The fall decorations, special snacks, and more aren’t the end of the big change! New merchandise is already starting to pop up around Disney World. That means you can be cozy and dress the part while getting in on the fun. (You might think it’s too hot for sweatshirts, but we’re willing to sweat for a cute look). Fall

  15. We aren’t putting it lightly when we say that you NEED this Disney World accessory! BAGSMART Water Bottle Holder Bag We’ve been to Disney World countless times, and every trip has presented one thing that has been annoying to deal with. That problem was carrying around our water bottle. Sure, you can put it in a backpack, but you risk getting things wet. You can hold it, but after a couple of hours, it starts to get tiring. Well, this new accessory on Amazon changed EVERYTHING! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Get the BAGSMART Water Bottle Holder BAGSMART Water Bottle Holder Bag You need to grab this BAGSMART Water Bottle Holder Bag from Amazon! This is made for more than just a water bottle. It’s for holding your water bottle, cards, sunglasses, lip gloss, and other small items. It’s the perfect accessory for anyone who uses a reusable water bottle but wants to remain hands-free. BAGSMART Water Bottle Holder Bag We seriously think this is a perfect park bag! Especially those afternoon/evening park visits, or for people visiting who don’t need a ton of things (ie without kids). We would say it’s also perfect for an AP that goes for just a few hours. If you’re going for just a few hours, this is the easiest bag to grab and go. It’s 100% worth the money. We were honestly shocked at how much we could fit in this, and it was so convenient (dare we say more convenient than a Loungefly because you didn’t have to unzip anything). BAGSMART Water Bottle Holder Bag Key features of the product are that it’s big enough for a 24 oz water bottle, sunglasses, a pinfolio, a sunscreen stick, a small bottle of Tylenol, lip gloss, and a hair clip. It has a zipper on the side that makes it easier to add/take things out, but also has a small card holder/card slots in the front pocket. Additionally, the top has a drawstring, so nothing will fall out. The front pocket also fits the new iPhone (the larger size). We used it in the rain, and it dried without leaving weird spots. The strap can be made longer or shorter. BAGSMART Water Bottle Holder Bag If there’s anything that we would change, we would make the strap just a little thicker. That way, the water bottle’s weight could be distributed a little better. If the strap were a little wider, it would be more comfortable to wear the bag with a larger water bottle. This is not an issue for us at Disney because there are so many water bottle refill stations. BAGSMART Water Bottle Holder Bag If you don’t need a ton of different items during your park day, this is the easiest bag to add, and at this price, it’s a no-brainer to grab. We loved just being able to turn the bag and grab the water bottle (or our pins) when needed, and not have to take off our backpack and unzip it to get anything. The bag itself is SUPER light! We think this can work for multi-day trips, even. If we were to give this a rating out of 5, we would say 4.5/5 (would be 5/5 if I could wear a larger water bottle with it!). view ON AMAZON We’re always on the hunt for the latest and greatest Disney souvenirs and essentials, so don’t forget to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more! 16. If you’re planning a Disney World trip, then you need to have Official Walt Disney World Hotels on your radar. These are the hotel chains you know and love, notably Marriott and Hilton hotels, within walking distance of Disney Springs, that offer some amazing Disney perks like complimentary transportation and early theme park entry. Bailey’s Chocolate Decadence We checked out the Hilton Orlando Buena Vista Palace right next to Disney Springs, and after we got settled in our room, you know what comes next. We had to try all of the food! And spoiler alert – we might stay here again just to eat! First up, we’re heading to Shades! We started with the Spinach Avocado Salad. This is made of mixed berries, candied walnuts, avocado chunks, charred red onion, and queso fresco crumble. The fruit and walnuts were sweet, and the onion and queso made this a yummy sweet and savory combo. It’s tossed in a Chia seed vinaigrette that was super crunchy and fresh! Spinach Avocado Salad Then, we got the Chicken Salad Sandwich from Citrus 28. This was super creamy with tons of chicken and celery. It wasn’t a showstopper, but it was still good! Chicken Salad Sandwich We tried the Chicken BLT from Shades, which is chicken, lettuce, tomato, and bacon on a grilled brioche bun. The mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato, and chicken were super tasty and fresh, but the bun was overtoasted, so it was a pretty dry sandwich. We had to add some more mayo to make it good. Chicken BLT We also got the Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup from Citrus 28. The tomato soup is acidic and creamy, with a small hint of basil to add some depth. The grilled cheese was a great size to dip into the soup! Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup Next up was the Philly Cheesesteak Roll. This is beef tenderloin, Cooper sharp cheese, and caramelized onions. These are deep-fried, so they’re crispy and golden brown, with a soft and tender beef tenderloin inside. It’s served with harissa aioli that adds a great kick! Philly Cheesesteak Rolls We got dessert with this Bailey’s Chocolate Decadence, sold at both LetterPress and Sunnies. It’s made with fudge brownie pieces, Bailey’s chocolate mousse, and dark chocolate ganache. This was straight chocolate in the best way possible! There was only a slight Bailey’s flavor in the aftertaste, which made all of the chocolate super rich. Bailey’s Chocolate Decadence We’ll definitely be back at the Hilton Orlando Buena Vista Palace to try some more food. Stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for more food reviews of Disney World and beyond! 17. Disney fans know that some attractions never stay inside the parks. ©Amazon The Haunted Mansion has inspired everything from home decor to fashion, and now one of its most recognizable design elements can become part of your own space. If you’ve been looking for an easy way to add Disney personality without committing to a major renovation, this is one home upgrade you’ll want to see. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Your Walls Are Missing That Haunted Mansion Magic Creating a Disney-inspired room can be surprisingly difficult. Plenty of decorations feel too themed or overly bright, making them hard to blend into everyday living spaces. The Haunted Mansion, though, has always stood out because its iconic wallpaper is both spooky and surprisingly elegant. That vintage damask pattern feels just as at home in a reading nook, office, bedroom, or media room as it does inside the famous attraction. That’s exactly why the RoomMates Disney Haunted Mansion Grey Peel and Stick Wallpaper caught our attention. ©Amazon This officially licensed wallpaper recreates the attraction’s famous distressed grey and black damask pattern, complete with imagery inspired by Disney’s Haunted Mansion. Instead of requiring messy paste or professional installation, you simply peel and stick each panel onto a smooth, flat surface. That also makes it a fantastic option for renters or anyone who likes changing their decor every few years. If you decide to redecorate later, the wallpaper removes cleanly without leaving sticky residue behind. Even better, it’s repositionable during installation, so you don’t have to stress if the first piece isn’t perfectly lined up. ©Amazon Each roll measures 20.5 inches wide by 18 feet long and covers approximately 30.8 square feet, making it easy to calculate exactly how much you’ll need for an accent wall, bookshelf backing, hallway, or an entire room. The 20.5-inch design repeats, keeping the classic Haunted Mansion pattern looking seamless across your walls. ©Amazon One of our favorite things about peel and stick wallpaper is how versatile it can be. You don’t have to wallpaper an entire room to make an impact. We’ve seen Disney fans use it behind floating shelves, inside glass-front cabinets, on furniture makeovers, or even to create custom photo backdrops for collectibles. Since it works on smooth, flat surfaces, there are plenty of DIY possibilities beyond traditional walls. ©Amazon If you’ve been searching for a decorating project that’s manageable over a weekend but still makes a dramatic difference, this fits the bill perfectly. Take a closer look before you start your next home project. view ON AMAZON The Haunted Mansion has always been one of Disney’s most beloved attractions because it balances spooky charm with timeless style. This wallpaper captures that same feeling while giving fans an easy decorating solution that doesn’t require permanent changes or professional help. Whether you’re building the ultimate Disney room, refreshing your office, or simply adding a subtle nod to your favorite attraction, this wallpaper offers a fun way to bring a little piece of the mansion home. ©Amazon We’re always on the hunt for the latest and greatest Disney souvenirs and essentials, so don’t forget to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more! 22. Exclusive lounges have been a part of Disney theme parks for a LONG time. After seeing the success of corporate VIP lounges at the 1964 World’s Fair, Walt Disney was inspired to create the iconic Club 33 at Disneyland. Over a decade later, EPCOT Center was home to many corporate lounges, as companies like Kodak (Journey into Imagination) and General Electric (Horizons) installed lounges for employees and other guests hidden away in their respective pavilions. While most of these lounges have been lost to time and change, there’s one that’s still going strong. General Motors Lounge — look at that view! General Motors is one of the few companies to have a sponsorship presence at EPCOT from the start. From opening day through 1996, the company sponsored World of Motion and has sponsored its replacement (sometimes using Chevrolet branding), Test Track, since the original version opened in 1999. Given that long-running relationship, it likely shouldn’t be a surprise that they maintain a lounge in the Test Track building. The Test Track lounge is accessible to General Motors employees, retired General Motors employees, and their families/guests, VIP guests, and even some lucky EPCOT guests on some days (hold tight, we’ll explain). Recently, a Reddit discussion about the lounge broke out. Several employees (or family members/guests of employees) spoke about their experiences visiting and how the lounge offers a brief respite during a crowded theme park day. As user Haphazardformality wrote in part, “Having access to a quiet, private air-conditioned spot, completely free of crowds, to just decompress a bit and reapply sunscreen and sip a complimentary diet coke and use a low-traffic cleaner-than-average restroom is really, really nice.” To the lounge! In addition to the decompression space, several Reddit users who’ve visited also discussed the lounge’s panoramic views, including a clear look at the “post-apocalyptic” state of the long-abandoned Wonders of Life Pavilion. Wonders of Life Non-General Motors employees chimed in as well, with some explaining how they were invited to visit the lounge after talking about the company’s cars in the attraction’s post-show. One reader even shared, “My family and I visited this lounge back in 2017. It was probably one of the coolest things I have ever experienced. We had just gotten off of Test Track, and my mom was talking to one of the Chevy employees there about how their car saved my dad’s life after he got into a really bad accident earlier that summer while on a work trip (he was on his way home from work when a drunk driver hit him head-on at 2 in the afternoon). She showed them the picture of the accident and thanked them profusely for the safety features in their cars that allowed my father to still be here. As we started to exit the gift shop, the employee and some higher-up had stopped us, invited us up to the lounge, and gave us Fast Passes for Test Track for the day.” General Motors Lounge Speaking of Fast Passes – – or now Lightning Lanes – – one perk of the lounge that both General Motors employees and others discussed was special access to the Test Track attraction as they were leaving. Lightning Lane Pass However, not every commentor had a positive opinion on the lounge. Many spoke about the
sparse nature of the space, with one saying, “Jail cells in Europe look better” and another saying the space is “giving Stanley Kubrick.” Entering the door EPCOT’s Test Track Lounge is available exclusively to those associated with General Motors, their guests, and some occasional lucky Disney World guests. 23. Heading to Universal Orlando in 2027? We’re spilling the secrets on the best places to dine! Dragon Fire Chicken Spire Mac & Cheese Cone Across the three dry parks and one water park, CityWalk, and the hotels, there are dozens and dozens of restaurants to check out. How do you know which one to choose? Well, we’ve eaten all around Universal Orlando and we’re here to break down the best of the best for your 2027 trip. Universal Studios Florida Starting out at the OG park, Universal Studios Florida, one of our favorite places to stop is Illumination’s Minion Cafe, right near the front of the park in Minion Land. The menu is a mix of Despica-Bowls and handheld options, and they’ve got a little something for everyone. The presentation of these dishes is particularly fun, and we’re big fans of the Minion tots! Freedonia Festival of Mac and Cheese For Harry Potter fans, the ultimate stop is Diagon Alley. Here, you can eat at the Leaky Cauldron, inspired by the pub of the same name from the books and movies. They serve British fare like fish & chips, bangers & mash, and miniature pies. Their menu is hearty and portions are sizable. Leaky Cauldron While you’re in the area, make sure to stop at Florean Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlour for a sweet treat! This spot serves soft serve and hard pack ice cream. The signature flavor is Butterbeer Soft Serve, but we’re particularly fond of Strawberry & Peanut Butter and Sticky Toffee Pudding as well. Huckleberry ice cream flavor Our last big recommendation at Universal Studios Florida is Central Park CrĂȘpes. Oddly enough, this stand is located in the Hollywood section of the park. It serves both savory and sweet crĂȘpes, with unique seasonal flavors. Universal Islands of Adventure Heading next door to Universal Islands of Adventure, one of our go-to snack spots is in a place you’d least expect — Seuss Landing! Here, the Green Eggs and Ham Cafe is a one-stop-shop for fun loaded tater tots, including one recipe with its namesake. We’re also big fans of the Pizza Tots (they remind us of the Halloween Horror Nights pizza fries) or the iconic Who Hash. Who Hash in a can! Like at the other parks, the Harry Potter food stands out here. In Hogsmeade, you can visit the Three Broomsticks, which serves many of the same menu items as the Leaky Cauldron, but also a few British feast-style platters. It’s a large indoor space with great air conditioning, so you can see why it’s a fan favorite. Three Broomsticks Finally, there are some big restaurant changes happening at Islands of Adventure in 2027 that you’ll want to check out. The fan-favorite Mythos Restaurant is closing in 2027 as part of the retheme of The Lost Continent. No closing date has been revealed yet, but if you find yourself in the park while it’s still open, you might want to stop by. Mythos Restaurant Also, Thunder Falls Terrace in Jurassic Park closes in summer 2026 to be rethemed into the park’s new signature restaurant. It will reopen in 2027 (no date announced yet at the time of publishing), so it’s going to be a hot-ticket spot to visit if you’re there after its opening. Universal Epic Universe Universal’s newest park opened in May 2025 with a slew of new dining options to explore. Our team’s favorite choice in Epic Universe has been Cafe L’air de la Sirene, which is located in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Ministry of Magic (shocker, more delicious Harry Potter food!). Their menu is French-inspired with a delightful Butterbeer Crepe and some lighter fare for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast! If you’ve got picky eaters or pizza lovers, you need to head over to Pizza Moon in Celestial Park. This spot has both basics on the menu as well as some unique options like the Pizza Lunare. The theming inside is incredible, and it has been a very popular spot since it opened. Inside Pizza Moon Now, of course, the most viral food item at Epic Universe is the mac and cheese cones you get in How to Train Your Dragon — Isle of Berk. You can find these at either Hooligan’s Grog & Gruel or Spit Fyre Grill. Hooligan’s has Mobile Ordering available and only sells the cones, plus beverages. Spit Fyre Grill does not offer Mobile Ordering, but has a few healthier (and yummy!) bowls on the menu in addition to the cones. Mac and Cheese Cones! And if you’re looking for something to wet your whistle, head over to Bar Moonshine in the Ministry of Magic. This spot is home to some very cool themed beverages and a well-themed atmosphere. It has been a favorite stop for our team to grab a cocktail! Universal Volcano Bay Volcano Bay isn’t like any other water park you’ve been to before, it’s a seriously cool water park. So much, that Universal counts it as a “theme park.” One of our favorite dining spots here is Whakawaiwai Eats. The big highlights of the menu are the longboard pizzas and the loaded mac and cheeses. Volcano Bay at Universal Orlando The most famous snack at Volcano Bay (and a great way to cool off on a hot day) is the Waturi Fusion, a colorful mix of banana, blue raspberry, orange, and strawberry soft serve ice cream flavors. You’ll find this cone, along with other ice cream treats, at Koka Poroka Ice Cream Kona. ©Universal And for a fun themed beverage, our go-to stop is the Kunuku Boat Bar. They have frozen drinks, specialty cocktails, and draft beers. CityWalk Serving as the hub for Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, and several of the hotels is CityWalk, Universal Orlando’s dining, shopping, and nightlife district. Here reside some serious hidden gem restaurants, like The CowFish, where you can find burgers and sushi, and even burger sushi! ©Universal Another beloved spot is BigFire Restaurant, where everything is cooked over a flame! They’ve got surf and turf with the fire-kissed treatment, and one of the highlights is actually on the dessert menu — tableside DIY s’mores. ©Universal For delicious Mexican fare and tableside guac, you’ll want to head to Antojitos. This spot is lots of fun with live music, and has a ton of indoor seating, so it’s a great last-minute reservation. Antojitos But perhaps the most well-known spot to dine in CityWalk is The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen. It’s a restaurant, bar, and confectionery rolled into one. You can order classics like steak and seafood, but the real star here is dessert. They’re well-known for their chocolate creations and over-the-top milkshakes. Red Velvet, Strawberry Cheesecake, and Bacon Brittle Milkshakes Another great dessert spot is Voodoo Doughnut, which is a doughnut shop where you walk up and order at the counter. They have some really unique creations and fun flavors in both yeast and cake doughnut options. But be prepared to wait a little while, because it is POPULAR. VooDoo Doughnut Doughnuts! Last but not least in CityWalk, we’ve got to recommend you visit the Butterbeer Bar in the back of the Universal Studios Store. This is a must-have treat when you’re visiting Universal Orlando, and you can now snag it outside the parks, which is a HUGE deal. Butterbeer! Generally, when we go to Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure, one of the best strategies is to eat lunch in-park at one of the quick service locations we mentioned above, then make dinner reservations at a sit-down restaurant in CityWalk. That’s a surefire way to get some of the best food possible. Resorts Of course, if you’re staying on Universal property, there are some must-try spots at the hotels. Jake’s American Bar is located at Loews Royal Pacific Resort. It offers delicious American fare like burgers and fun apps, plus a mixture of island-inspired cocktails. ©Universal At Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, you’ll find Bice Ristorante, a sit-down spot that offers Northern Italian cuisine. Handmade pasta is rolled fresh here daily, and they’re known for menu items like the seafood fettuccini. Don’t forget to save room for dessert, because they have a lovely tiramisu. ©Loews Finally, we have two options that we loved at Universal Helios Grand Hotel. For a beverage, head up to the rooftop bar with spectacular views — Bar Helios. This spot has some delightful small bites and stunning atmosphere. Greek God Cocktail And for Mediterranean fare at lunch or dinner or a delightful breakfast to kick off the day, Flora Taverna is a go-to. This spot has a chill vibe with windows that look out over Epic Universe. Flora Taverna Whew, that was a lot of food talk! Stick to this list, and you’re bound to have a delicious trip to Universal Orlando in 2027! 24. The Fourth of July might have been yesterday, but there is still lots of Patriotic fun happening around the Disney World parks today. Mickey and Pals on the 4th of July One of the highlights of the Fourth of July can be found over in EPCOT, where Mickey and Friends meet guests in their patriotic outfits. To say this is a popular meet-and-greet is a big understatement, considering this line was almost FIVE HOURS long yesterday! When we made our way over to the American Adventure Pavilion yesterday to snag some pictures with our favorite gang in their fun outfits, we were shocked to see that the line was full of switchbacks and stretching throughout the pavilion. It’s safe to say lots of folks were looking to grab some festive photos. After speaking with a Cast Member, we learned that the line had been cut off an hour earlier (we spoke to them at 3:30, meaning the cutoff was around 2:30) because it had reached its five-hour capacity and they could not accommodate any more guests. This line was SO long In fact, for the guests in line, the wait could have been even longer because while we were there, the characters were pulled backstage due to inclement weather, with no timeline provided for when or if they would be able to return. The Cast Members informed guests that they were permitted to remain in line to see if the characters returned. Given the approaching inclement weather, we thought some guests might leave the line, but while we were there, the line appeared to stay the same. LONG line! If you missed your chance to spot these characters over the past few days, you still have one more chance! They will be meeting again today, July 5th, one last time until next year’s Fourth of July festivities. Today, head over to the American Adventure Pavilion to catch Mickey and two of his friends in their Fourth of July best. You could meet any combination of Pluto, Goofy, and Chip ‘n’ Dale alongside Mickey. If this meet-and-greet is important to you, we suggest getting over there as early as possible! The line will get long, and the only way to guarantee you get to meet these characters is by securing a spot in line early. How long would you wait to meet these characters in their fun 4th of July outfits? Today, you can also catch the final showings of “Disney’s Celebrate America! — A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky” firework show at 9 PM in Magic Kingdom. Then, over in EPCOT, you can see the final show of “Heartbeat of Freedom,” which is a five-minute patriotic finale that starts at 9:15 PM, directly after Luminous: The Symphony of Us. 4th of July in Magic Kingdom We always make sure to keep you informed of any special offerings or news around Disney World, so stay tuned with Disney Food Blog so you never miss anything! 25. HUGE changes are coming to the Carousel of Progress at Magic Kingdom, and we’re here on the last day of the current iteration of the ride as we know it. Carousel of Progress We already knew that a Walt Disney Animatronic would be coming to the ride, but Disney shared that even more updates are on the way for this iconic attraction. Each scene will be completely overhauled to feature new decades — and we’ll even get a glimpse into the future! The ride is set to close on July 6th so Disney can make way for these changes, and we’re celebrating the last day of the original Carousel of Progress. Magic Kingdom’s Carousel of Progress closes on July 6th and is expected to reopen sometime in 2027, as Disney works to completely overhaul the ride. We stopped by on the last day of the current version of the ride’s operation, and we weren’t the only ones! ©Disney While this ride normally has a low wait time, around five minutes, since the theater can hold so many people in each of the four sections of seating, we were curious to see if today would be the same. Right around 9:30 AM, just half an hour after the park opened, the ride was indeed sitting at just a five-minute wait. ©Disney Looking at crowds near the ride, there was a small crowd that had headed straight to the attraction at rope drop, but otherwise, there hasn’t been enough of a crowd yet to completely fill each theater. Now, it’s very possible people are rope dropping other attractions that often get higher waits, since even on its final day, Carousel of Progress’ larger capacity will likely keep it from getting too large of a wait throughout the day. We’ll be keeping an eye on it all day to see how the crowds ebb and flow. Carousel of Progress crowds One of Disney’s main goals for this update is to keep the attraction relatable for audiences of today by featuring eras that people have personal connections to. Imagineering has been revisiting the music, fashion, technology, and experiences that helped shape history as it’s reflected in this family’s story. Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress Act 1 will feature the 1960s, which is when the Carousel of Progress first opened at the 1964 World’s Fair. The story looks back about 60 years, and now this new scene will mirror that idea — starting 60 years back from today, in the 1960s. ©Disney Act 2 takes us to the 1980s, where bigger is better. On Halloween night in 1985, Sarah will take center stage as she shares all about how the new appliances and gadgets are making life easier for the whole family. John is out on the porch handing out candy to trick-or-treaters, and poor Uncle Orville will still be in the bathroom with “no privacy at all around here!” Carousel of Progress In Act 3, we’ll travel to the new millennium as the 1990s draw to a close. The family is getting ready to ring in the new year on New Year’s Eve 1999. The Internet is bringing John, Sarah, Jimmy, and Patty closer together than ever before. Of course, Grandpa has already nodded off, so Grandma changes the TV over to wrestling when no one is looking. The Carousel! And finally, Act 4 features the possible future. The family is seen one last time in the distant future, in a home that’s out of this world. The off-planet scene features a helpful robot assisting with everyday tasks, along with space travel, and imagines a future where extraordinary innovation has become part of life. What will the future bring? Disney shared that Carousel of Progress is expected to reopen sometime in 2027, and we can’t wait! These are some MAJOR changes, and we’re hopeful that the ride will still reflect everything we loved about the original. 26. A major change is coming to one of Disney World’s oldest attractions TOMORROW. Carousel of Progress Walt Diseny’s Carousel of Progress – – which has been operating in one form or another since its debut at the 1964 New York World’s Fair, meaning it actually predates Disney World by over a decade – – is set to close for a major refurbishment that will shift nearly everything about the 60+ year old attraction. In an attempt to keep the show “relatable for today’s audiences,” the whole show is being restructured. The show will now feature a Walt Disney animatronic in the pre-show, followed by new acts based on the 1960s (itself harkening back to the decade the show originally debuted), the 1980s, the 1999-turn of the millennium, and a “possible future” that will imagine a time where “extraordinary innovation has become part of life and proves that a beautiful tomorrow is just a dream away.” The Carousel of Progress will close on July 6th for its transformation, with an estimated reopening in 2027. ©Disney This won’t be the first time the Carousel of Progress has changed. The attraction has been intermittently updated over the years, with the most recent major upgrade coming in 1994. While the show has its fans, me VERY much included, it is fair to say that the show – – especially the ending sequence that still name-drops the “upcoming” turn of the millennium – – has been feeling a bit stale for a couple of decades. The resident flying ace is about to be grounded. Despite that, reactions to the renovation details have been mixed so far. Some have been negative, with guests mourning the loss of most of the Walt-designed original concept) to positive, with some excited that modern audiences have their own time periods to look back on and deserve their own “Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow” to look forward to. Carousel of Progress Personally, after thinking over my own reservations on the change, I do believe that the attraction’s message of a hopeful future is one that needs to be relatable to modern audiences, and right now it’s not. The 1960s are as far away from the 2020s as the early 1900s were from the 1960s when the original debuted. ©Disney Starting tomorrow, the Carousel of Progress is set to begin a massive transformation that will modernize the attraction for tomorrow, though if it turns out to be “great, big, and beautiful,” remains to be seen. Stay tuned to DFB for more on this project. 6 Magic Kingdom Secrets Disney Doesn’t Want You to Know Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! Click here to Subscribe! 27. It’s been a BIG year for Magic Kingdom. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad reopened as new and improved versions of themselves. Cinderella Castle got repainted. Now another big change is coming to the park! It’s Carousel of Progress’ final day before refurbishment! The Carousel of Progress is getting a massive makeover, which means we need to say goodbye to the version we know and love. We’re here on the last day of operation for the current Carousel of Progress, and we’re not the only ones who came out to say farewell. While crowds at the Transportation and Ticket Center this morning for rope drop weren’t any more intense than normal, we were super curious to see how many people lined up for rope drop would actually head for Tomorrowland. Rope drop crowds outside the gates were a little backed up, but nothing too wild, which was a little surprising. Not only because of today being as important as it is for Carousel of Progress, but also because it’s Fourth of July weekend! Rope Drop Crowds Once people were allowed into the park and able to line up near the lands they planned to get in first thing, there was a small crowd for Tomorrowland as a whole, but it wasn’t shoulder to shoulder, which was a nice reprieve. Lines for Tomorrowland Right around 9:30 AM, after the park had officially been open for about half an hour, Carousel of Progress was only sitting at a five-minute wait, which is usually its regular wait time. There was a small crowd of people who headed straight for the ride when it opened, but otherwise, we’ve noticed so far that the theaters haven’t been filled up for each showing. That’s partly due to just how large the capacity for this ride is. Carousel of Progress crowds Today (July 5th) is the final day of operation for the original version of Carousel of Progress. The ride will reopen in 2027 as a completely NEW version. The new version will feature a new timeline, including the 1960s, the 1980s, the new millennium, and the potential future. “There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow” will remain the song for the new version, and we’ll be following the same family. The new ride will also feature a Walt Disney animatronic in the very first scene. ©Disney We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all the changes coming to Carousel of Progress. 28. Things are ALWAYS changing in Disney World! Lately, it feels like the parks are entirely new places thanks to updates like Villains Land, Piston Peak, Monsters Inc. Land, and other major changes. Welcome to La Poutinerie Each week, it feels like Disney is constantly dropping new information, details, and more! That’s why we like to do a weekly wrap-up of the biggest news so you don’t miss a single thing. This week was pretty exciting for people who love new stuff in Disney World! This week was an exciting one for Disney World fans! We got new entertainment, new snacks, and we might even get a new menu for a restaurant that sorely needs it. Here’s everything we loved this week. LEVEL99 has arrived Over in Disney Springs, LEVEL99 officially opened to the public! The new entertainment offering has over 60 games, a bar, and a restaurant for guests to indulge in. LEVEL99 is here! We got to check out the new offering ahead of its opening, and we (frankly) fell in love with it. The games are designed for groups of two to six people with varying degrees of difficulty. There are puzzles, brain games, physical challenges and more for you and your group to dive into. Level99 Bar If you want to check out the new offering but you aren’t interested in the games just yet, you can get a free pass to check out the restaurant and bar. This is the 4th LEVEL99 location, but the CEO has confirmed that more are going to be opening across the country. We can’t wait to see where the new locations go and how fans receive the new entertainment option in Disney Springs. EVERYTHING We Learned About LEVEL99 in Disney Springs on Opening Day La Poutinerie has opened! A new snack stand has come to EPCOT! La Poutinerie officially opened in the Canada Pavilion this week, and we tried it all. This new stand has the classic poutine that the Canada pavilion is known for, and the new stand is sponsored by Air Canada. La Poutinerie The new stand is open from 11 AM until 5 PM daily for you savory snackers. There are two different kinds of poutine to try, as well as several drinks to grab. While change is pretty hard, we did seriously enjoy these new bites. You can read our full review below! REVIEW: NEW Snack Stand Is NOW OPEN at EPCOT Quite Restaurant Closure Finally, Disney quietly announced a short-term closure of an infamous restaurant. That’s right, Coral Reef Restaurant in EPCOT is closing in September. The Coral Reef Restaurant is set to temporarily close on September 8th with no reopening date announced. What we do know is that Disney plans on reopening the dining spot later in 2026. Coral Reef Restaurant Disney hasn’t shared why the restaurant is closing. This could be a refurbishment, but it could also be a seasonal closure. Coral Reef actually shifted to a reduced, dinner-only schedule early this year, in January. We’re selfishly hoping this will be quite a big change because this restaurant has become one of Disney’s “worst” over the last few years. Surf and Turf While it’s not terrible, it’s hard to say that it’s a great choice compared to several of the other amazing options in EPCOT. We’re keeping our fingers firmly crossed for a fresh look and a new menu. Disney Quietly Announces EPCOT Restaurant Closure Starting in September We are feeling extra hungry after all of that! It was a busy week (just like any other), and we are so excited for what’s ahead. As always, be sure to keep following DisneyFoodBlog for more Disney news, updates, details, and more.
