  2. Universal Orlando is one of the most popular theme parks in the country, and for good reason. It has some of the biggest franchises, like Harry Potter, Shrek, Minions, and Monsters. Combine those franchises with character interactions, rides, entertainment, and experiences, and you’ve got yourself quite a popular spot. Universal Orlando Because of their popularity, this means it can also get pretty busy. BUT there are several weeks in 2027 where Universal Orlando will be EMPTY. These are the 10 weeks you should consider booking your trip to Universal Orlando. January 9th – 15th The early months of the year are a great time to visit the Orlando theme parks, specifically January 9th through 15th. The holiday celebration at Universal Orlando ends on January 3rd, so those crowds will officially be gone. It also won’t be too hot during this time since it’s in the dead of winter. Look how empty! Something NEW Is Coming to Epic Universe for the Holidays January 23rd – February 12th These three weeks in January and February will be pretty slow since school will have been back for a couple of weeks now. These are also the weeks leading up to February school vacations, which are common in the northern states. Valentine’s Day also falls on a Sunday this year, so leaving before that weekend would be beneficial. Isle of Berk in Epic Universe Universal Just Opened Their NEW Coaster, And People Have THOUGHTS! April 4th – April 10th Jumping ahead to April, the first week will be the best time to visit. This week follows Easter weekend, so those crowds will be gone while April school vacation will begin the following week. It’s the perfect downtime between the two busier times of April. Islands of Adventure Demolition of This Universal Orlando Land Is Moving Along FAST May 2nd – May 8th The first week in May is the LAST before the summer crowds start to hit the Orlando theme parks. While schools up north don’t typically get out until mid- to end-June, schools in Florida tend to get out in mid-May, so the first week of May is your safest bet to visit before those summer crowds hit! Dark Universe in Epic Universe CONFIRMED: A Popular Epic Universe Ride Is Closing… Again! August 22nd – 28th The last week of August is when the summer crowds start to die down since kids are either back in school or getting ready to go back. That is until the weekend, which typically hosts the first Halloween Horror Nights events of the season! So, if you want fewer crowds and want to experience a dose of Halloween, this may be the week for you! Halloween Horror Nights DFB Video: 50 TIPS for Halloween Horror Nights September 12th – 25th September tends to be one of the slowest times of the year when it comes to visiting theme parks since summer has officially ended and everyone is back to work and school. If you can take time off work, these two weeks in September are great times to go! Not only will you experience fewer crowds, but you’ll also be able to indulge in Halloween offerings since spooky season will have officially arrived. The Bride of Frankenstein and Frankenstein’s Monster Could Universal’s New Patent Reveal Upcoming CHANGES for Epic Universe? November 1st – 7th Finally, you can experience an empty park in the first week of November. The final night of Halloween Horror Nights tends to be either October 31st or November 1st, so the Halloween crowds will be dying down, and the holidays don’t start up until mid-November. Universal Orlando If you’re planning on booking a trip to Universal Orlando in 2027, make sure to take these weeks into consideration because these will be when the parks are the emptiest! 3. Disney+ has just released a new documentary, and it takes you behind the scenes of some of Disney’s big theme park updates over the years. ©Disney Worldbuilders is all about “the minds behind the magic” — the people who created the movies and content that eventually turned into theme park lands and rides around the world. In the documentary, Leslie Iwerks sits down with names like James Cameron, Jon Favreau, Kevin Feige, Jennifer Lee, and more. But perhaps one of the most interesting bits for theme park fans looking toward the future is the interview with Bob Iger. Former Disney CEO Bob Iger is featured heavily toward the end of the documentary talking about one of the next big projects — Disneyland Abu Dhabi. “We like being in this region. About one-third of the world’s population, actually, can get here in about four hours,” he says as he looks out over the Abu Dhabi landscape. ©Miral “We view this as an oasis of the world. Not just a crossroads, but an oasis. We love what Abu Dhabi stands for, its potential and its dreams, its design ethic. It is a place that is only pointing to the future in so many different ways with great enthusiasm and tremendous optimism,” says Iger. via @robertiger on Instagram Disney’s decision to place a theme park in the U.A.E. has been met with some controversy. On Disney’s original Instagram announcement, fans in the comment section made their disappointment known, with notes about how unsafe the location is for many Disney fans. Several were admonishing Disney for seemingly forgoing its commitment to inclusion for all. ©Disney A large part of the controversy surrounding Disney’s choice of location is due to laws that the U.A.E. has in place regarding both LGBT relationships and rights for women. In the past, other major theme parks have failed in Abu Dhabi, and fans have been concerned on that note as well. ©Disney Disney hasn’t yet revealed much about Disneyland Abu Dhabi. No timeline has been announced, and the IPs included in the project are still under wraps. We expect to receive more information in the coming years. 4. When you’re visiting Magic Kingdom, there’s just so much to see and do. Now, of course, you’ll want to ride ALL the rides, especially all those classic rides. But you’ll also want to make time for the entertainment, including the Festival of Fantasy parade and Disney Starlight. Happily Ever After But one of the most ICONIC shows you can see in Magic Kingdom happens just before the park closes. We’re talking about the nightly Happily Ever After fireworks show, which will make you laugh, cry, and feel nothing but joy (EVERY time, y’all). Well, if you’re visiting Disney World soon, we’ve got a big fireworks update to share with you. Currently, the Happily Ever After fireworks can be seen on nights when there isn’t a Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at 10 P.M. However, with fall coming up quickly, that will change soon. The time will change to 9:30 P.M. on August 31st, but as of October 5th, Happily Ever After will happen at 9 P.M., an hour earlier. This change is usual this time of year as the days get shorter and the nights get longer. But it means you’ll get to see the fireworks an hour earlier! Happily Ever After Happily Ever After is probably one of the most popular fireworks shows in Disney World that isn’t JUST a fireworks show. It also incorporates music, projections on Cinderella Castle, and projections on Main Street, U.S.A. Many Magic Kingdom visitors will choose their fireworks viewing spots early and camp out until they start. Happily Ever After in Magic Kingdom However, you can always get a great view of the fireworks by booking a Happily Ever After dessert party, which gets you a buffet of desserts and snacks plus drinks as well as a guaranteed view of the fireworks from Plaza Garden or Tomorrowland Terrace. Chocolate Dipped Strawberries from Happily Ever After Dessert Party We’ll be keeping an eye out for more big changes in Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for more. 6. Disney World has a funny way of hiding little surprises in plain sight, but as a former Cast Member, I’m not going to gatekeep them from you! Disney World After years spent behind the scenes (and even more years visiting as a regular guest), I’ve picked up on a handful of things that most visitors simply never notice. From a sneaky new mobile ordering restriction to a ride queue absolutely PACKED with Muppet history to the sneakiest spots for free fireworks viewing, here are seven things flying completely under the radar right now. 1. Free Hygiene Items Are Becoming the Norm For years, the period product situation across Disney World’s parks and hotels has been pretty inconsistent. A handful of free products could be found in select hotel bathrooms and at First Aid locations, but for the most part, Disney relied on paid dispensers in the majority of park restrooms. That’s starting to change. Free hygiene products have recently begun popping up around EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, and beyond, thanks to a woman-owned company called Aunt Flow, which works with businesses and schools to offer free, high-quality pads and tampons in bathrooms — operating on the belief that if toilet paper is free in public restrooms, period products should be too. For now, you’ll still need to pay for period products inside Magic Kingdom, though First Aid will provide them for free if you ask. It’s likely just a matter of time before Aunt Flow’s products make their way into that park as well. Aunt Flow products 2. How Long It ACTUALLY Takes to Reach Magic Kingdom If you’re getting to Magic Kingdom by any method other than free Disney transportation — driving yourself, a rideshare, or a Good Neighbor Hotel shuttle — you won’t be dropped off at the front gates. Instead, you’ll land at the Transportation and Ticket Center, and from there you’ll still need to catch either the ferry boat or the monorail to actually reach the park. Curious just how much time that adds, one of our team members ran her own little experiment. She parked at the TTC around 9:30 PM on a rainy night, well ahead of the 10 PM fireworks and with the park not closing until 11 PM. Crowds were about as light as they get — no line for the parking tram, the monorail, or the tapstiles at the Magic Kingdom entrance. And yet, the entire TTC-to-Magic-Kingdom process still took a full 30 minutes. Ferry Boat The takeaway: TTC crowds get significantly heavier at the start of the day and again right after fireworks end. If you’re working around dining reservations, trying to catch rope drop, or aiming to arrive before Early Theme Park Entry begins, budget in an extra hour just for that TTC-to-Magic-Kingdom transfer. Monorail line 3. The Times That Polynesian Village Will Turn You Away Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is normally one of the best-kept secrets for catching Magic Kingdom fireworks without a park ticket — its beachside spot is usually wide open to anyone strolling over. That changes, however, whenever the Happily Ever After fireworks get swapped out for an exclusive show, like on Fourth of July or New Year’s Eve. During those nights, Polynesian Village tightens up considerably, limiting beachside access to guests with hotel reservations or Polynesian dining reservations only. Security is posted right at the walkway connecting the Transportation and Ticket Center to the resort, checking reservations before anyone’s allowed through. If you’re hoping to watch a specialty fireworks show from the Polynesian beach, make sure you’ve got a qualifying hotel or dining reservation locked in first. Beautiful views from the beach 4. Another Low-Key Place to Watch Happily Ever After Watching Happily Ever After from behind Cinderella Castle has become one of my favorite ways to catch the show — it’s a whole lot less crowded than Main Street USA, and even though you miss the castle projections, the fireworks themselves come through just as impressively. My usual spot is directly behind the castle near Prince Charming Regal Carrousel, though more people have started catching on, and it can get surprisingly busy there on some nights. Happily Ever After On a recent visit, though, I stumbled onto another great option. After a nighttime lap on the PeopleMover, I stepped off the Tomorrowland sky tram just as the fireworks were kicking off — and realized Tomorrowland’s Power Palms (the chrome palm trees right outside Space Mountain) offer a genuinely great view with even fewer crowds. And if you can time it right, staying on the PeopleMover or hopping onto Astro Orbiter during the show gives you a totally unique, ride-based perspective on the fireworks. Happily Ever After 5. So Many Muppety Easter Eggs I didn’t realize just how much I’d been missing Kermit and the gang inside Hollywood Studios until Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets finally reopened at the end of May. And while I expected to enjoy getting back on the ride itself, what really caught me off guard was how much I loved the queue — it’s absolutely loaded with Muppet Easter eggs that are easy to miss if you’re not looking closely. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets A few of my personal favorites: Tucked into the pre-show recording studio booth and near the ride’s loading area, you’ll spot discarded PizzeRizzo boxes — a quiet tribute to the “Rat Pizza” quick service that used to occupy the space before Monstropolis construction pushed the Muppets out of their old courtyard. In the alley leading to the boarding platform, there’s a small Mona Lisa painting paying homage to the much larger version that used to hang outside Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano. The old “key under the floor mat” gag from the original MuppetVision 3D queue makes a comeback near Gonzo’s Stunt School Door — except this time, instead of door keys, you’ll find keyboard keys peeking out from underneath. It would take forever to catalog every single reference hiding in this queue, but even just slowing down long enough to spot these few makes the wait feel like its own attraction. 26 Hidden Details On the NEW Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets at Hollywood Studios PizzeRizzo will always remain in my heart 6. My New Favorite Time to Ride Living with the Land If you’re looking for a genuinely peaceful, nervous-system-resetting moment somewhere in Disney World, let me point you toward riding Living with the Land in EPCOT during a rainstorm. Once your boat drifts into the greenhouse section, the sound of rain pattering against the glass mixes with the low rumble of thunder outside, the calm narration, the lush plant life, and the gentle floating motion of the ride — and the whole thing becomes almost meditative. It’s the kind of ride experience that might just have you fighting off a quick cat nap. Living with the Land These are the kinds of details that make Disney World feel endlessly full of surprises — even for people who visit constantly. Pickle Milk Shake This year is also a big year for cheese lovers! Emile’s Fromage Montage (the cheese-themed food scavenger hunt) is returning to the festival, but in addition to that, you can check out “Cheers to Cheese!” at CommuniCore Hall starting on September 18th. 8. If you’ve visited Magic Kingdom recently, you’ve probably seen all the construction happening around the park. Right now, a big Cars expansion is going in where Rivers of America used to be, while Villains Land is being built behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Big Top Souvenirs Over in Storybook Circus, a popular souvenir store, Big Top Souvenirs, has been closed since February. We’ve been following construction progress at the site, but now Disney has surprised us with some big news: Big Top Souvenirs will reopen tomorrow! That’s right. Big Top Souvenirs will finally be reopening tomorrow after being closed for almost six months. During that time, the tent over the store was replaced, so the first thing you might notice is that it looks new. We’re sure Disney has been busy making some other improvements and upgrades, too, and we’ll finally see what those are when the store reopens tomorrow. With the new tent Big Top Souvenirs is a great place to grab Disney souvenirs, but you can also grab some sweet treats, and Disney also shared what the new menu will be: Mickey Churro Caramel Apple: Granny Smith apple with marshmallow ears dipped in Werther’s Original caramel, white chocolatey coating, and churro cinnamon sugar Dumbo Caramel Apple: Granny Smith apple with sugar cookie ears dipped in Werther’s Original caramel and chocolatey coating with red fondant collar and yellow chocolatey hat Mickey Snowcone Marshmallow Pop: Marshmallow coated in fruit-flavored chocolatey coating with colorful sanding sugars Minnie Pink Lemonade Cupcake: Pink lemonade-flavored cupcake and buttercream frosting with white chocolatey ears, assorted sprinkles, and chocolatey bow Mickey Vanilla Celebration Cupcake: Vanilla cupcake with buttercream frosting, dark chocolatey ears, colorful chocolatey stars, and sprinkle surprise inside Dumbo Sandwich Cookie: Two Dumbo-shaped sugar cookies with vanilla buttercream and colorful sprinkles Mickey Circus Cookie: Mickey-shaped sugar cookie with pink or white chocolatey coating and colorful sprinkles Circus Chips: Corn chips coated in brown sugar and cinnamon Big Top Dippers: Animal crackers and apple slices served with vanilla buttercream, Werther’s® Original® caramel, and colorful sprinkles for dipping ©Disney We’ll be checking out Big Top Souvenirs tomorrow when it reopens, so you’ll want to be sure to follow along as we give you an update on everything that’s changed inside and outside the store. 10. September can be a really fun time to visit Walt Disney World. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party 2026 Halloween decorations are out, crowds are usually (comparatively) light in the lull between the end of summer and the start of the full Halloween/Thanksgiving/Christmas Holiday rush, and special events like EPCOT’s International Food & Wine Festival and Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at the Magic Kingdom. However, it’s that latter event that could lead to a big mistake. In September, Mickey’s Not-Scary-Halloween will take place on the 1st, 4th, 8th, 11th, 13th, 15th, 18th, 20th, 22nd, 24th, 25th, 27th and 29th. While that means a night of Halloween fun for those who have, it also causes major issues for day guests who aren’t aware of it. Entrance to the Magic Kingdom See, if you purchase tickets and plan a Magic Kingdom day without checking if there’s a Halloween Party event that evening, you could be making a trip-altering mistake. See, on party nights, guests without party tickets must leave the Magic Kingdom at 6 PM. That means no dinner reservations that begin after 6 PM… Be Our Guest …no Happily Ever After fireworks shows… Happily Ever After …and no Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away parade. Starlight So, if you want to make sure you get to experience everything the Magic Kingdom offers after dark, you need to make sure your Magic Kingdom plans don’t cross over with a party night. Of course, if you can’t change your schedule, you can check if that night’s Halloween Party is sold out. Daisy and Donald at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party After all, the event offers characters in special costumes, exclusive treats, treat trails loaded with candy, ride overlays, and even has exclusive entertainment presentations all its own, including: Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade This Halloween-centric parade has been a favorite for years, and includes several elements that have become iconic. It kicks off with the Headless Horsemen galloping down the parade route, before leading into a cavalcade of characters in their Halloween best, including Minnie Mouse, Clarabelle Cow, and Daisy Duck dressed as the sinister Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus and the trio of Hitchhiking Ghosts, the spectral Bride, and waltzing spirits from the Haunted Mansion, all before culminating in a Fantasyland-inspired grand finale. Boo-To-You Parade Not-So-Spooky Spectacular The party also features a fireworks spectacular of its own at 10:00 PM, the Not-So-Spooky Spectacular. Hosted by Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas, the “frightfully fun fireworks display” features Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy being “spirited away to a mysterious haunted house where they encounter dancing skeletons, waltzing ghosts, and a sinister gathering of Disney villains!” Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular If you’re planning a trip to the Magic Kingdom in September, make SURE you know if there’s a Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party event scheduled for the day of your visit to avoid making a trip-defining mistake. 11. We had the opportunity to visit Disney’s Hollywood Studios during the park’s most recent After Hours Event, and we had some thoughts. Hollywood Studios After Hours! A quick refresher: Disney World’s After Hours Events are separately ticketed events that allow guests to enjoy beloved attractions with lower wait times for an extra three hours after the park closes to the pubic, plus enjoy included snacks and drinks. Guests can enter the park at 7:00 PM, giving them a few extra hours in the park before the event even begins! Now that we’ve got that out of the way, here are two of the biggest things we noted to keep in mind for our next time in attendance…and to share with anyone heading to an After Hours Event at Hollywood Studios! We Won’t Believe Posted Ride Times Attractions scheduled to be available during Hollywood Studios’ 2026 After Hours Events include: Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Slinky Dog Dash Toy Story Mania! Alien Swirling Saucers The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway Tower of Terror That’s pretty much all of the park’s heavy hitters, each with a posted wait time significantly shorter than during a normal operating day. However, we noticed even those wait times were inflated! For example, at one point the Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster had a posted wait time of 30 minutes, but we reached the ride vehicle in 17 minutes. Later on, Rise of the Resistance had a posted wait of 40 minutes, yet we reached the first preshow in about 11 minutes. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Perhaps the funniest of all? Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway had a posted wait of 5 minutes…and it wasn’t even that long! In fact, the only guests waiting for the attraction in the queue were those finishing their included popcorn and Mickey Ice Cream Bars… Ice Cream Bars … so many ice cream bars…before boarding! We’ll Spend More Time at Oga’s! While the biggest draw of After Hours Events is the aforementioned rides with significantly shorter wait times, we found another bonus: Oga’s Cantina is practically empty. If you’ve ever wanted to visit the popular Star Wars-themed cantina in Galaxy’s Edge without needing to share a table or strain to hear the music and effects over the hum of a crowd of guests, make time to stop in for a drink during an After Hours Event! The rare almost empty Oga’s If you’d like to put these tips to use in 2026, you’ll need to act fast! Hollywood Studios’ only remaining 2026 After Hours Events are scheduled for August 26th, and September 2nd and 12th. Guests with After Hours Event tickets can enter the park at 7:00 PM, and the event lasts from 9:30 PM to 12:30 AM, with the exception of September 12th, when it runs from 10:00 PM to 1:00 AM. Event tickets are $155 to $179 per ticket, plus tax, depending on the date. Based on previous years, we should get 2027 After Hours news in September 2026. 12. There’s a phrase we say here at DFB: “The most consistent thing about Disney World restaurants is that they’re inconsistent.” Olivia’s Cafe Really, what that means is that Disney World restaurants are constantly changing. A new chef on staff can take a menu from ‘meh’ to amazing. An interior refurbishment can change the entire atmosphere of a space, or a batch of seasonal, limited-time items might end up being the best thing you eat throughout your whole trip. Because these restaurants change so much, we keep a close eye out for anything that could affect your trip, and coming soon, one of our favorite meals is going away! According to its page on the Disney World website, Olivia’s Cafe at Disney’s Old Key West Resort will soon be getting rid of brunch. This meal has been a longtime favorite of ours, a true hidden gem in Disney World. Now, the restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner each day. Olivia’s Cafe Brunch Spread The last day to eat brunch here is October 5th. Starting on October 6th, the schedule will change to accommodate all three meals. The webpage currently has a peek at what each meal will serve. It says the following: Breakfast: Rise and shine with favorites like Buttermilk Biscuits and the Crab Cake Eggs Benedict. Lunch: Sail in for coastal cuisine, like Conch Fritters. Plus, enjoy hearty options, like the Bacon Jam Cheeseburger or Southernmost Buttermilk Chicken. 13. We’re nearing the end of summer, which means there will be fewer crowds and more refurbishments coming to Disney World. Carousel of Progress Refurbishment But don’t worry, we’re not fully in that territory yet! Only TWO attractions will be closed for refurbishment in September, and one of them isn’t even in the traditional theme parks! Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress Starting with the refurbishment IN the theme parks, Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress has been closed for refurbishment since the beginning of July, and it will continue to be closed through 2027. This show is getting an update with new scenes from the 1960s, 1980s, the new millennium, and a possible future. The pre-show of this attraction will include a Walt Disney Audio Animatronic. Disney has confirmed that they will be revisiting the music, fashion, technology, and experiences that John and his family will have in the updated show. ©Disney The new version of the attraction will open sometime in spring 2027 with Bryan Cranston and Jamie Lee Curtis lending their voice talents to the show. We NEED to Know. Will Disney Fix This Major Carousel of Progress Problem During Its Closure? Slush Gusher One of Blizzard Beach Water Park’s slides will be closed for refurbishment in September. 16. This week was BIG for Disney news! At D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Disney dropped LOTS of news about Disney Cruise Line, and most notably, the Disney Believe! ©Disney Setting sail in late 2027, the Disney Believe will feature beloved Disney stories such as Peter Pan, Toy Story, Encanto, Frozen, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Moana, and The Little Mermaid, in addition to unannounced stories from Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars. Out of all of these iconic movies and franchises, Disney cruise fans have been wondering which character will be featured as the Grand Hall’s icon, and Disney FINALLY revealed who it’ll be! Passengers aboard the Disney Believe are welcomed into the Grand Hall, a new atrium design that debuted with the Disney Wish. The Disney Believe’s signature bronze sculpture features Wayfinder Moana and her companions, Pua and Hei Hei. Disney shared that the Grand Hall will be infused with the optimistic spirit of exploration from the Moana films. ©Disney The concept art, first revealed at D23: The Ultimate Fan Event, also provides a glimpse of the artisanal Polynesian finishes that honor the cultural traditions of the South Pacific. The guardrails around the statue feature a floral pattern straight from Moana’s dress, the stair rails have a triangular pattern, and the second-story railings have an ocean wave pattern, all in a brown color that feels super natural! We can also see that the carpet flooring is a blue design reminiscent of the ocean. ©Disney Disney also revealed that the bow of the Disney Believe will feature the one and only Tinker Bell as she first appeared in the Walt Disney Animation Studios film, Peter Pan. ©Disney On the stern of the ship, you’ll find Woody and Buzz from Toy Story. The duo will appear to be working together to etch the ship’s name on the back of the vessel in the films’ iconic block font. ©Disney We’ll be sure to keep you updated on more Disney Believe updates. 17. The Walt Disney Company’s former CEO, Bob Iger, just received one of the most cherished honors you can get at Disney! Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland Bob Iger has officially been given a personalized window on Main Street, U.S.A., at Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California. Iger’s window is located above the entrance of the Emporium, recognizing him as the “Chief Architect for New Century Builders.” The new window on Main Street captures Iger’s approach with the motto, “Looking forward to your tomorrow!” The window also features a series of descriptors that commemorate his leadership during his time at the company, including “courageous,” “confidence,” “excellence,” “innovation,” “curiosity,” and “optimism.” ©Disney “I stand here with a deep sense of wonder and humility and appreciation and gratitude for having the opportunity not just to work for the company that Walt Disney founded, but to run the company that he founded, and then to have the opportunity to be given this,” said Bob Iger. “It’s just so special to me to stand here, Town Square, Main Street, thinking about this place over 70 years ago, thinking about the millions and millions and millions of people that have come through, thinking about the thousands and thousands of cast members that have worked here and contributed mightily to what this is, and thinking about the legacy of the people who are represented in these windows, and realizing I’m now among them.” ©Disney Bob Iger exclaimed that this moment is more than a dream to him. “It’s actually not even a dream come true, because I never could have dreamed this was possible,” Bob said. The celebration took place on August 16th, and it included the Dapper Dans harmonizing on the Sherman Brothers’ “There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow.” ©Disney Josh D’Amaro, the new CEO of the company, had some kind words for Bob. “He expanded Disney storytelling around the world. He was unrelenting in his focus on creativity and innovation, and he honored our past while always keeping his eye on the future.” ©Disney Bob Iger had a long and impactful career as Disney’s CEO. He’s done a ton for the company’s film and entertainment industry, parks and experiences, and more. His legacy is now cemented at Disney with this new window at Disneyland. Having a name emblazoned on a Main Street, U.S.A. window is a tradition as old as Disneyland itself, and now he’s there with the greats! ©Disney We’re always on top of all the latest Disney news and updates! 18. If you’ve ever powered through a full day at Disney World from rope dropping at 8 AM to the last fireworks fade over Cinderella Castle at 10 PM, you know that it can feel like a marathon. Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom It’s a 10-to-14-hour endurance event, mostly spent standing in direct Florida sun with barely a shred of shade between attractions. The right pack of essentials can be the difference between a magical day and a miserable one. We’re bringing you some Disney essentials to be sure to pack for your next trip. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Get this Supergoop! Play Sunscreen! ©Amazon At $28 for the 5.5 fl oz bottle, Supergoop!’s PLAY Everyday Lotion has become something of a cult favorite among Disney regulars, and once you’ve used it on a park day, it’s easy to see why. No white cast means no chalky streaks in your photos in front of the castle, and no greasy residue rubbing off on your phone or your kid’s cotton candy. The formula is rated water- and sweat-resistant for up to 80 minutes. The $28 bottle is the standard 5.5 oz size that fits easily in a park bag. view ON AMAZON This travel deodorant set is essential for Disney World ©Amazon Sunscreen isn’t the only thing worth reapplying on a long park day, and this is the pack we keep tossing into our bags for that exact reason. Dove’s Travel Deodorant set for women bundles one aluminum-free spray in a cucumber and green tea scent with two mini sticks, Cool Essentials and Clear Finish, all in TSA-approved travel sizes that barely take up any room next to your sunscreen and water bottle. The spray is formulated with moisturizers so it won’t leave your skin feeling stripped after a full day of sweating through Florida humidity, while the Clear Finish stick is designed to skip the white marks that can show up on darker clothing after hours in the heat. Having a spray and a stick in the same pouch means you can grab whichever is faster for the moment. view ON AMAZON We love this character hat! ©Amazon Sunscreen handles your skin, but your scalp, ears, and the back of your neck need their own line of defense, which is where a wide-brimmed hat like this character hat earns its spot in the park bag. The denim cotton construction keeps it lightweight and breathable in Florida humidity, and the adjustable strap means it fits comfortably. It’s also an easy, affordable way to add some retro western flair to a park outfit without committing to a full cowboy look for the day. view ON AMAZON Or, you can grab these sunglasses! ©Amazon Florida sun doesn’t just beat down on your skin; it bounces hard off pavement, water rides, and reflective surfaces all day long, which is where a solid pair of polarized sunglasses like these Kunchu Polarized Retro Sunglasses comes in handy. The polarized lenses cut glare rather than just dimming everything, so squinting through the reflection off Seven Dwarfs Mine Train’s queue rails, while the UV protection guards your eyes the same way sunscreen guards your skin. The classic retro frame is a nice bonus for park outfit photos, and because they’re an affordable, lightweight pair rather than a designer set, losing or scratching them on a water ride is a lot less painful than it would be with a pricier pair. view ON AMAZON We’re always on the hunt for the latest and greatest Disney souvenirs and essentials, so don’t forget to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more! 19. When it comes to Disney World needs, there are very few more important than a water bottle! After all, staying hydrated is ESSENTIAL to a trip to the “Most Magical Place on Earth.” Little Mermaid Owala If you’re in the market for a new water bottle, Amazon offers several options. Which of them is best for you? Let’s find out! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Let’s Begin with This 24 oz OWALA We love staying hydrated in Disney style! Available in many colorways, including several Disney Princess-related designs, the bottle is made from an insulated stainless-steel body and features a FreeSip spout designed for either sipping upright through the built-in straw or tilting back to swig from the spout opening. The bottle also features a protective push-to-open lid that keeps the spout clean, a convenient carry loop that doubles as a lock, double-wall insulation that keeps drinks cold for up to 24 hours, a wide opening for cleaning and adding ice, and a cup holder-friendly base. Rapunzel Owala This water bottle is a favorite of several members of our team, as it lives up to its promise of keeping drinks cold. We once filled it up at 8 AM and still had ice in the bottle at 10 AM THE NEXT DAY. It definitely makes a trip easier in that regard, as you won’t need to keep stopping to buy water. SHOP HERE This Simple Modern Water Bottle has a Subtle Disney Touch The Simple Modern! This 23 oz Simple Modern water bottle worked well for us as well. Its subtle Disney touch is cute, but the bottle itself is also deceptively large to the eye, given how much it can hold. However, it didn’t keep the water as cool as some of the other double-insulated brands we’ve tested. It functionally does its job well, but it wouldn’t surprise me if you found yourself dumping out water that had been in your bottle after a few hours, getting warmer, in favor of fresher, colder water. SHOP HERE This Hydro Flask Cascade Tumbler is Comfortable in Hand The Hydro Flask! This 24 oz tumbler — available in several colors, including a smart blue — features a comfortable, flexible handle; the leakproof straw cap is easy to open and close with one hand. Its slim design makes it ideal for even the slimmest cup holders for your car or bag pockets. For a mid-priced insulated cup, it does a good job of keeping cold things cold longer. It also all comes apart easily for quick cleaning/rinsing and drying out. The top flipped open The bottle does the job well in those regards, but it wasn’t an overall favorite of our team. That wasn’t helped by the fact that our team members were only able to get a full sip if their face was completely above the straw and not tilted, naturally. SHOP HERE Did the Stanley Live Up to its Reputation? Stanley IceFlow The Stanley IceFlow Flip Straw 2.0 features AeroLight spun-steel insulation that makes it 33% lighter than standard stainless-steel bottles, a featherweight design that ensures easy portability without compromising on cooling performance, and a Flip Straw 2.0 lid designed for convenience and speed. The lid is engineered to be leak-resistant, so there aren’t any accidental leaks or spills. The lid and sipper We definitely found this bottle to be worth the money! We particularly love how the bottle completely comes apart so you can really dig in to clean it easily and thoroughly. SHOP HERE Finally, there’s the Yeti Rambler YETI Rambler This massive tumbler is made of stainless steel, which resists dents even on drops. The bottle also features double-wall vacuum insulation to keep drinks cold, and a no-sweat design to prevent condensation, all of which make this bottle VERY worth it to users who like heftier bottles. Now, that said, those who don’t particularly care for bulky bottles may want to go for something slightly smaller. SHOP HERE If you need one of these water bottles to stay hydrated during your next trip, head over to Amazon ASAP and stay tuned to DFB each week for more Disney essentials! View the full article
  20. It’s Halloween, Lo-ween, everybody (if you know, you know). Halloween Time has arrived in Disneyland, and you know what that means: it’s also Oogie Boogie Bash time! Maleficent treat trail Oogie Boogie Bash is a special ticketed event in Disney California Adventure held on select nights from August 18th through October 31st. It’s like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party…but a little spookier, as one might expect from a party hosted by Oogie Boogie. The party features exclusive entertainment, food and drinks, character meet and greets, and more. You can also trick-or-treat at treat trails throughout the park, and we’re going to give you the full rundown of every treat trail available this year. Treat trails are set up throughout California Adventure. These are trails that you walk through to go trick-or-treating in the park, and yes, even adults can trick-or-treat during party hours. You’ll get LOADS of candy, including some full-sized treats, and you can even visit treat trails more than once if you want to REALLY stock up on candy. Got our bag, so let’s trick-or-treat! But what makes Oogie Boogie Bash’s treat trails so special is that some of them have exclusive characters, including some of your favorite villains, like Agatha Harkness, Sid from Toy Story, Oogie Boogie, Yokai from Big Hero 6, and more. So let’s take a look at those treat trails first. The newest character to have a treat trail this year is Yzma — you’ll find her treat trail in Grizzly Peak. Pull the lever, Kronk! Can’t have an Oogie Boogie Bash without Oogie Boogie, and you’ll find his treat trail at the Disney Animation building in Hollywood Land. Well, well, well… what have we here? Dr. Doofenshmirtz from Phineas and Ferb is back again this year with a treat trail at the Disney Junior Theater in Hollywood Land. Dr. Doofenschmirtz Ernesto de la Cruz is serenading trick-or-treaters at the treat trail located just outside Avengers Campus in Hollywood Land. I have to sing! Syndrome is still plotting against The Incredibles at the treat trail in Pixar Pier near Pixar Pal-Around. What dastardly deed is he plotting? You’ll find Agatha Harkness casting some dark spells over in Avengers Campus at the Sanctum. It was Agatha all along The Mistress of Evil herself, Maleficent, is guarding a treat trail in Grizzly Peak. Maleficent Hades is lurking at a Treat Trail near Monsters, Inc.: Mike & Sulley to the Rescue. Hades Judge Doom from Who Framed Roger Rabbit can be found near Hollywood Lounge in Hollywood Land. Judge Doom Of course, other treat trails are just ALL about the candy, and you can check those out, too. Be sure to look in your guidebook or on the Disneyland app to find them all! Oogie Boogie Bash guide We’ve discovered that you can really get a LOT of candy in Disneyland if you visit the treat trails (the Cast Members are VERY generous and throw handfuls into your bag). That’s why we recommend not using the free treat bag they give you at the beginning of the party. Instead, bring a larger one from home…trust us, you’ll need it. 21. It’s time for an update from everyone’s favorite tiny town! Oh no! Yep, that’s right, we’re going to Tiny Train Town in EPCOT’s Germany Pavilion. The itty bitty city full of chaos is ready for a visit from Madam Mayor, and I’m going to share all the nonsense that I find. Let’s go! This week, I present to you the mystery of the unconscious citizens! There has been a bit of an epidemic of folks being found in their homes, in public spaces, and even in the woods…completely knocked out. We’ve typically found multiple unresponsive people in the same area when this occurs. What’s going on here? The victims have been taken to the hospital when discovered, and they’re showing all the common signs of narcolepsy…but without a single diagnosis! Falling asleep randomly in the middle of the day? One woman was even found on TOP of the train station. We’re not sure how she got up there, but we’re lucky that a few morning travelers spotted her. This is very strange behavior. Another citizen was found in some nearby rocks, seemingly asleep. Several of the patients have now woken up in the hospital, but the waking is slow, and they all have brain fog regarding what they were doing before they knocked out. There are no blunt force trauma injuries, but the doctors are working on toxicology reports as we speak. We had four cases in the same day, and we’re getting worried — what if this happens to the train conductor or a firefighter? Things could go very poorly if we don’t get to the bottom of this. Bouts of narcolepsy?! And GOOD GRIEF, for the love of all that is holy, will someone PLEASE give Bartholomew a call?! His daughter Suzie is climbing the observation tower again, and all the guardrails have been removed for cleaning, so it is simply not safe. I know he’s a police officer, and he’s dealing with the latest problem around town, but if Suzie is the next victim of the narcoleptic knockouts, she could get seriously injured. Little Suzie makes her return! Hmm…looks like there’s a mystery to solve in the coming days! Stay tuned to DFB for more updates. See More Tiny Train Town News Here! 22. We’ve tested out some truly bizarre products in Disney World, all in the name of finding the best things to add to our packing list. Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom The Disney World parks can be wild with unpredictable weather, and that means we need to be prepared for heat, humidity, and often, lots and lots of rain. So what’s the ultimate trick to dealing with the rain? Well, it might be this unusual product. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Get the silicone shoe covers! Silicone Waterproof Shoe Covers We tested out the Shiwely Silicone Waterproof Shoe Covers in the parks a little while back, and they were a LIFESAVER on a rainy day. As the name states, they’re made of silicone, and they have a zipper on the top so you can open them up, slip them on, and seal your shoes from the rain. The ULTIMATE rainy day solution? They come in a few different shoe size ranges, and we recommend sizing up if you’re near the top of the range, but we found them to be decently comfortable. There are grips on the bottom to keep you from sliding too much while walking, though some other reviewers found them to be slippery, so be cautious if you wear them. Silicone Waterproof Shoe Covers They’re not 100% foolproof (we had a couple drops of rain run down our legs and seep through the gaps), but they saved us from having soaked socks on a soggy day. They would be great to wear over your sneakers during a water ride! view ON AMAZON We’re always on the hunt for the latest and greatest Disney souvenirs and essentials, so don’t forget to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more! 23. Believe it or not, the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival is just around the corner. The beloved festival begins on August 27th and runs through November 21st, so we’ll get a lot of time to dig into all the dishes. Which is good, cause we want everything in the cheese crawl! ©Disney If you love cheese, you’re going to want to check out the festival’s cheese crawl, Emile’s Fromage Montage. Not only does it let you try cheese dishes from around the world, but you can also earn a prize. It’s a win-win situation! Every year we talk about Emile’s Fromage Montage, after all, we’re HUGE cheese fans. We always grab a festival passport as soon as we walk into EPCOT because it lists out the Emile’s Fromage Montage menu items. Take a look at the menu, and purchase any five of the cheese items to collect a stamp for each. Well, this is where all of the Disney food magic happens! It’s a “research and development” facility with a prime goal of creating new and innovative foods for the parks and resorts. Yes, Cheeseburger Pods were really made here. Cheeseburger Steamed Pod The Flavor Lab team is also responsible for Imagineering the “plotlines” behind the Disney restaurant, like traveling to a Centauri Space Station 220 miles above EPCOT or going back to the 1950s at 50s Prime Time Cafe at Hollywood Studios. There are A LOT of dining options to choose from, and we don’t want you to get too overwhelmed, especially when you’re already trying to plan the perfect Disney vacation, so be sure to grab our Guide to Disney World Dining! Stellar View at Space 220 But where IS the Flavor Lab? Well, it’s so hidden that we’re not really sure! It’s hidden away from the public, tucked into a backstage area within an unassuming 7,500-square-foot building somewhere on Disney World property. Why the major secrecy? There is A LOT of testing that goes into building these dishes, so it’s a long process before it’s ready to go out to the public. If a recipe is leaked early, it could cause major setbacks for the restaurants. These noodles never disappoint! Don’t worry — there are still several places around Disney World where you CAN watch Disney chefs prepare food right in front of you, like Jiko at Animal Kingdom Lodge, Via Napoli at EPCOT, and Morimoto Asia at Disney Springs! There are also Cast Members at the Main Street Confectionery at Magic Kingdom who will make treats in the viewing window, like candy apples and taffies! Chefs at Jiko – The Cooking Place Of course, you can join in on the fun and make some of your own Disney World dishes! Toledo: Tapas, Steak, and Seafood inside Coronado Springs’ Gran Destino Tower has a Sangria University for around $73 per person with tax and gratuity, where you’ll learn how to make your very own hand-crafted sangrias. Such a great experience! There’s also a Cake Decorating Experience at Amorrette’s Patisserie inside Disney Springs for $199, which can accommodate up to two guests per experience. Here, you’ll be able to create your own character dome cake. Mickey Mouse Character Dome Cake Beloved Flavors Return to Gideon’s Bakehouse This Month! Listen to Nemo and Friends Underwater Guests staying at the Art of Animation Resort USED TO be able to listen to music and hear Nemo and his friends talk to you when you swam underwater at the Big Blue Pool. Unfortunately, these underwater speakers were removed during one of their seasonal refurbishments due to safety concerns. The Big Blue Pool BUT there is a way around this one! Just five miles down the road from EPCOT, you can find Four Seasons Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort, and this hotel DOES have underwater audio! When you jump into the pool, you’ll be able to hear some piped-in, under-the-sea music. Four Seasons Orlando Pool New Rooms Are Coming to Disney’s Art of Animation Resort! Shop at a Bookstore I’m a BIG reader, so this one makes me a little upset. Disney World DID once have a bookstore called the Writer’s Stop. This opened in MGM Studios back in 1999, originally as a homage to Ellen DeGeneres’ Buy the Book, which was a fictional Los Angeles bookstore featured in her first sitcom, Ellen. This area was also used for author and celebrity signings, but this spot closed in April 2016 to prepare for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Writer’s Stop Writer’s Stop was replaced by Baseline Taphouse in 2017, which has a backstory of being housed within an old printing factory, paying homage to the prior with letters spelling out “Writer’s Stop” inside. Speaking of books, if you haven’t checked out AJ Wolfe’s book, “Disney Adults,” be sure to grab yourself a copy! REVIEW: Something NEW Just Landed at BaseLine Tap House in Disney’s Hollywood Studios Climb the Mexico Pavilion Pyramid While it’s not an everyday occurrence, it DOES happen. Yes, some guests try to climb the Mexico Pavilion Pyramid. This is a BIG no-no because people who attempt something like this will be banned from the Disney parks altogether. The best you can do is sit on the steps used to get INTO the pyramid and take some pictures there! Mexico Pavilion at EPCOT You may not be able to CLIMB a pyramid, but you can SLIDE down one! Guests staying at the Coronado Springs Resort will have access to the Lost City of Cibola pool, which features a 50-foot pyramid looming over the pool area! Around the backside of the pyramid, you’ll find a 123-foot jaguar slide. Massive pool! The Ultimate Guide to Eating Around EPCOT’s Mexico Pavilion: Unspoken Rules, Hidden Gems, and Insider Secrets Spend 24 Hours Inside the Parks Although this was something that DID happen in the past, it’s not available anymore, so PLEASE don’t try it! Both Magic Kingdom and Disneyland had annual 24-hour Disney Days where the parks would open at 6 AM and close at 6 AM the following day. These events would usually happen around the end of May as a celebratory “kickoff” to summer vacation and have specific themes. There is a very HIGH chance Disney will never do an event like this again, but if you are hoping for some extra time in the parks, you can always attend an After-Hours event! Magic Kingdom After Hours These are separate-ticketed events that allow guests to spend time in the park after it closes to the general public. There are also Extended Evening Hours, which give Deluxe Resort guests and guests of other select hotels TWO extra hours in select parks on select nights. But the parks, in general, do have some pretty long days with Animal Kingdom opening around 8 AM each morning and Magic Kingdom closing around 10 PM or 11 PM each night. Add Early Entry on top of that, and you’ve got yourself an even LONGER day! Disney’s Animal Kingdom Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Isn’t On Early Entry – Here’s the Best Time To Ride Watch Fireworks in Animal Kingdom Animal Kingdom closes much earlier than the other Disney theme parks, but that’s not the only reason why there aren’t any fireworks at this park. The main reason is that big (and loud) fireworks simply scare the animals, which is a recipe for disaster. Tree of Life Awakenings However, that doesn’t mean Animal Kingdom is a stranger to nighttime shows and spectaculars. Back in 2017, the Rivers of Life at the Discovery River amphitheater was introduced. This show featured lasers, light projections, fountains, and beautiful illuminated floats that looked a lot like giant paper lanterns shaped into different flowers and animals. This show was suspended in 2020 when the parks closed due to the pandemic and was then announced to never return. Rivers of Light: We Are One And when Animal Kingdom closes when night falls, they will sometimes hold a nighttime show called the Tree of Life Awakenings. This show features colorful projections of bright colors, animated animals, and a beautiful soundtrack. And there’s even a holiday version, which typically starts up in November and runs throughout the remainder of the year! Tree of Life Awakenings in Animal Kingdom 4 Changes Coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Next Month Swim in the Fountains We know that it can get pretty hot in Disney World, but that doesn’t mean you need to go swimming in the fountains in the parks and resorts — Disney has two water parks for a reason! Even when Disney Springs has one of the most beautiful fountains, jumping in will give you a one-way ticket to ban-town. Some Disney parks also have splash pads and interactive water walkthroughs (that are totally not forbidden, by the way). For example, Magic Kingdom has Casey Jr.’s Splash ‘n’ Soak Station in Fantasyland and the little water-spitting tiki heads right outside Jungle Cruise in Adventureland. Casey Jr.’s Splash ‘n’ Soak EPCOT has the full Journey of Water: Inspired by Moana walkthrough, which allows guests to play and learn with the walkthrough’s “living” water features, and you can get SOAKED (but only if you want). Journey of Water YIKES! Disney World’s Water Parks Are NOT For The Weak This Summer Stand on Top of Spaceship Earth In the late 1980s, Disney World released a commercial for The EPCOT Center, which highlighted everything you could experience at the park at that time! And at the end of the commercial, Mickey Mouse himself was on top of the Spaceship Earth sphere — waving at the camera like he wasn’t doing the scariest thing ever. Now, obviously WE can’t go on top of Spaceship Earth, but we CAN ride an attraction AND enjoy a drink or two inside at GEO-82. The entrance to this lounge is just before the exit of the attraction passed the Project Tomorrow interactive experiences. Just keep in mind that this lounge does require advance dining reservations. Spaceship Earth “Rome Was Burning, But It Didn’t Seem As Strongly Scented” 7 Things Disney Fixed on Spaceship Earth (and 3 They Didn’t) Fly Down the Castle Like Tinker Bell! We all have that dream of flying out of the castle like Tinker Bell does during the fireworks show, but, unfortunately, we can’t. Her flight is a SPEEDY one and a HIGH one. She takes to the skies at 189 feet, up to 20-30 mph, meaning she reaches her “final destination” in less than a minute. If you DO want to fly, you have a couple of options — Dumbo the Flying Elephant and The Magic Carpets of Aladdin in Magic Kingdom, Soarin’ in EPCOT, Avatar Flight of Passage in Animal Kingdom, and the Aerophile in Disney Springs. Aerophile Disney Springs Has Now Implemented a MAJOR Rule Change Dine with an Imagineer While this used to be a thing, it has since gone away. Back in the day, a few different Disney World restaurants had Dine with an Imagineer experiences, allowing you to chat with an honest-to-goodness Disney Imagineer while enjoying a four-course meal. Some of these restaurants included the Hollywood Brown Derby at Hollywood Studios, Citricos at Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and Sanaa at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Citricos This is one of those experiences that ended once the pandemic closures came around. Imagineers have quite a celebrity status around Disney World, and while you can’t dine with them, you CAN dine at some celebrity restaurants around the property, which often host these celebrity chefs for a special seminar or Q&A session. A couple of examples include Maneet Chauhan’s eet and Iron Chef Masaharu at Morimoto Asia. eet by Maneet Chauhan Iron Chef Morimoto Shares Sushi Roll RECIPE and His BEST Sushi Tips Eating Living with the Land Produce Right Off the Vine If you’re following any Disney World drama, then you’ve probably heard about the infamous incident from a couple of years back where a guest jumped out of EPCOT’s Living with the Land boat ride to grab a cucumber from the greenhouse. And, as you can imagine, this DID NOT go over well. Not only are you stealing from Disney, but you’re also risking the safety of yourself and everyone around you. Yes, the food looks delicious, but there are other ways to eat it. Living with the Land For example, you don’t even have to leave the Land Pavilion to try it! Just head upstairs to Garden Grill during lunch and dinner and try the salad, which is made with the veggies grown straight from the attraction! EPCOT’s Flower and Garden Festival also frequently uses the produce for its Outdoor Kitchens. The Land salad is also found at Tiffins Restaurant at Animal Kingdom. The Land salad You can even go behind the scenes on the Behind the Seeds Tour. For around $40 per person, you can take a one-hour walking tour through the Living with the Land greenhouses, which gives you a chance to learn about how these plants thrive and grow in their different environments. Behind the Seeds Tour Disney World’s Wait Times Are Heating Up Along with the Temperature Visit “Roger Rabbit Land” While Disney World has had some MAJOR ideas for lands and attractions, not all of them come to fruition. One that has really fizzled out is Roger Rabbit, who was supposed to be the main character of MGM Studios — much like how Figment is the main character of EPCOT. But the plans for Roger Rabbit were A LOT bigger. When MGM first opened back in 1989, the characters from Who Framed Roger Rabbit were EVERYWHERE, and that wasn’t all you’d see from them. Disney was also planning to add several attractions, including a simulator ride and two dark rides. Roger Rabbit Paw Prints in Hollywood Studios So, why didn’t this happen? Well, there was some major butting of heads between Disney and Steven Spielberg. After the movie’s success, several disputes broke out between the two sides over creative and financial issues regarding ownership of the characters. This feud eventually led to Roger Rabbit’s rides — and sequel — never coming to life. But there are still some Easter Eggs within the park! Roger Rabbit Easter Egg! 3 NEW Annual Passholder Perks Have Hit Disney’s Hollywood Studios Streak Yes, I really have to say this. Streaking in Disney World is STRICTLY prohibited. Back in November 2023, Cast Members in DisneyLAND had to handle a rather… bizarre circumstance at “it’s a small world.” A man on the attraction decided to hop out of the boat, strip off his clothes, and run around the set. He was escorted out, arrested by the Anaheim police, and has now been banned from Disney parks. According to The Los Angeles Magazine, “The 26-year-old offender was hospitalized and then arrested for indecent exposure and being under the influence.” So, this is your reminder to pace yourself with your drinks and keep your clothes on! “it’s a small world” 10 Weeks When Disneyland Will Be Empty in 2027 Find Walt Disney’s Cryogenically Frozen Head There are an astounding number of people who believe that when Walt Disney passed, his body and/or head were cryogenically frozen and are now hidden in the tunnels underneath Cinderella Castle. And we hate to burst your bubble, but this just isn’t true. It seems most of these rumors were actually started by tabloids written around the time of Walt’s very real death. This was later fueled by books written by a few sources claiming to be credible on the matter that, when examined more closely, had no basis for their claims. Cinderella Castle So, where are the remains of Walt Disney? He was actually cremated, not frozen. They now reside in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California. To further PROVE that these are the remains of Walt, his death certificate was signed by the licensed mortuary attendant verifying his cremation. His daughter, Diane, even went so far as to state, “There is absolutely no truth that my father, Walt Disney, wished to be frozen. I doubt that my father had ever heard of cryonics.” ©Disney What will you find in the tunnels underneath Magic Kingdom? You’ll find something called the Utilidors. The only people who have access to this are Cast Members and guests taking a Keys to the Kingdom backstage tour. This five-hour guided walking experience lets you see the “backstage” of Magic Kingdom and teaches you about how Disney brings this well-loved park to life daily. This tour is $169-$189 per person. The cost of your ticket will include lunch and a little commemorative gift but does not include general admission to the park. ©Disney | Obtained via News 6 Orlando The next time you’re at Disney World, remember these 14 things and make sure NOT to do them!
