Don’t let this surprise bit of Disney magic go to waste if you’re lucky enough to experience it! Pinocchio and Geppetto If you’re SUPER lucky, you might stumble upon a rare and unexpected magical moment right in the middle of EPCOT! The next time you find yourself in the American Adventure Pavilion, keep an eye out for this special occurrence… but make sure you play it right so you don’t fumble it! Keep Character Palooza Magical! If the stars align during your Disney World trip, you might be fortunate enough to find a Character Palooza. These are super rare pop-up meet-and-greets that are typically held for characters who are completing their training or need to get a little “practice” in front of guests. One of the key spots we’ve seen Character Paloozas show up is in EPCOT’s American Adventure Pavilion. Surprise Pluto Appearance! Here’s the big kicker about Character Palooza — they aren’t scheduled, announced, or guaranteed. You just have to be in the right place at the right time when they happen! If you’re around when one pops up, we definitely recommend taking advantage, because you’ll likely be able to meet a few characters with little to no lines, plus, we’ve seen some pretty rare characters at these pop-ups! Gideon There are a few big things to keep in mind if you spot a Character Palooza happening. First, you gotta make that your new first priority and head over right away. There’s no guarantee how long the characters will be out, and the meet-and-greets can be cut short when crowds start to form, so if you wait, you could definitely miss out! Character Palooza Also, speaking of crowds cutting these character pop-ups short, if you do see a Character Palooza happening, it’s important to keep it relatively quiet. That means no shouting across the pavilion that the characters are here, no posting an announcement with your location on social media, etc. Just soak in the awesome magic of getting to meet a “secret menu” selection of characters with no lines! Making a big scene about it can cause crowds to flock over, ending the fun for everyone. Hey, Mr. Smee! Of course, like we mentioned, Character Paloozas are a rare surprise occurrence, so you shouldn’t camp out expecting to find one. But if this sounds like your dream Disney World scenario, and you’re getting FOMO at the thought of not catching one, there are a few other experiences that offer some similar character perks! Character Palooza Experience “Dupes” Character Palooza is a truly unique experience, so there isn’t anything quite like it. But, since it’s not scheduled or guaranteed, here are some close “dupes” that you CAN actually plan for! runDisney Races First up, there are typically character meet-and-greets positioned throughout the routes of the runDisney races. The runDisney character spots often check the boxes of both having little to no waits, AND having some ultra-rare characters from deep in the Disney vault! The characters vary by race, but there tend to be a few throughout each route, and runners have the option to pull over and meet them mid-race if they choose. Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend 2022 This might be the closest “dupe” in the sense that you can both find uncommon characters and meet them with minimal lines. But there are some caveats to consider! First, the runDisney races cost extra to register for, so you’ll have to both budget for the additional cost and make sure you sign up FAST, because the races tend to fill up quick once registration opens. Princess Daisy at the Disney Princess 5K Finish Line Also, they start SUPER early in the morning, so be prepared to plan at least a few days of your trip around getting rested up enough both pre- and post-race! And finally, there is a minimum pace you’ll need to keep in the runDisney races to avoid getting “swept,” so make sure you’re comfortable enough with maintaining the required speed to avoid getting your race cut short. Finish Line! Considering the additional cost and logistics, this option might only be a good fit if you have at least a moderate interest in the runDisney experience itself and not just the characters. But it’s definitely worth considering if you’ve already been curious about the runDisney races! Holiday Parties Several rarer characters are usually part of the scheduled entertainment at seasonal parties like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, and Disney Jollywood Nights. If you’re not a morning person (or a runner), this might be a better bet for you than runDisney to get your elusive character fix! Jack Skellington and Sally at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party But even though this can be a solid place to find more uncommon characters, beware that, unlike Character Paloozas, the lines for meet-and-greets at the holiday parties can get LONG! As in, “some people plan their whole party around the characters,” level of long! 120-minute line for Santa Jack and Sally at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party! The holiday parties are also separately ticketed events, so you’ll have to budget for the extra cost. But if meeting unique characters is your main goal, you can plan it directly into your schedule with the holiday parties instead of just hoping you’re lucky enough to spot a Character Palooza! Character Meals Character meals are almost the “opposite” of the holiday party meet-and-greet situation — with character dining, you can meet multiple characters without having to wait in line, BUT they’re usually pretty common ones. You’re unlikely to spot anyone unexpected here, although if you’re looking for popular characters anyway, this might be right up your alley! Belle at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall On the plus side, you can find the characters in cute, unique outfits at some of the restaurants, like Mickey and the gang’s art-inspired attire at Topolino’s Terrace or the farmer-esque ‘fits at Garden Grill, which does add that element of exclusivity at some of the character dining locations! Mickey Mouse at Garden Grill Of course, you’ll have to pay for the character meal as well, so it’s still not a “free” experience like Character Palooza. But since you’ve gotta eat anyway, at least you can also tack on those no-wait character meet-and-greets while you’re at it! On a hot Disney World day, there’s nothing we love more than a refreshing, ice-cold DOLE Whip, which is why we love Swirls on the Water at Disney Springs! They have so many fun limited-edition DOLE Whip flavors to try. Strawberry-Cotton Candy Cone So when we saw that they added not one, but four brand-new menu items for July, we had to run over to Disney Springs and try them! First, we got this new Strawberry-Cotton Candy Cone for $7.29. This is DOLE Whip Strawberry and blue cotton candy soft-serve served in a red velvet cone with a white sprinkle rim. Strawberry-Cotton Candy Cone The ice cream in this has both strawberry DOLE Whip and cotton candy soft-serve, but the cotton candy flavor is very prominent, and we could barely taste the strawberry in most bites. The red velvet cone tasted like a regular ice cream cone, and the white chocolate sprinkles brought in even more sugar. If you’re looking for an ice cream to satisfy the ultimate sweet tooth, then this is for you! However, if you’re a strawberry fan, you probably won’t like this. Strawberry-Cotton Candy Cone The DOLE Whip Flight is $8.99. The flavors of the month for July are DOLE Whip Pineapple with coconut soft-serve topped with a fresh pineapple wedge, DOLE Whip Strawberry with cotton candy soft-serve topped with white sprinkles, and DOLE Whip Orange with vanilla soft-serve topped with chocolate sauce. DOLE Whip Flight The Pineapple DOLE Whip had an even mix of pineapple and coconut, making it taste like a Piña Colada in ice cream form. It was super light and refreshing on a hot day. Plus, we loved the pineapple slice for a little snack. DOLE Whip Pineapple with coconut soft-serve As for the DOLE Whip Orange, there was an even mix of tart orange and creamy vanilla, so it was super fruity with a creamsicle vibe. The orange and vanilla flavors were so strong that we couldn’t really taste the chocolate sauce, but the orange vanilla was so good that we’re not mad about it! DOLE Whip Orange with vanilla soft-serve This DOLE Whip Strawberry with cotton candy soft-serve was the same as the cone from earlier but served in a dish. Again, the cotton candy flavor is so prominent that we could barely taste the strawberry in most bites, and the sprinkles just add even more sugar to the taste, but we enjoyed how it added some crunch to the texture. This one melted much faster than the other two, so if you’re getting it, bring napkins! DOLE Whip Strawberry with cotton candy soft-serve We’ll be sure to keep you updated on new menu items as they hit Disney Springs. Stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for more Disney World food reviews! If there’s one thing you shouldn’t underestimate about Florida, it’s the weather. Disney World is probably hotter than you expect, even if you’re from other hot places, because the humidity makes it feel so much hotter than it is. Once you factor in the rain, you realize how big a deal weather really can be. Frogg Toggs Poncho Because it rains ALL the time, we’ve tested just about everything to help with the rain, and these are our favorite ponchos that actually work. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Meet the Frogg Toggs Poncho! FROGG TOGGS Poncho We love all the different colors so everyone in the family can have a different one, but what we really love is how breathable it is. Remember when we talked about the heat? Yeah, being sticky in a rain poncho isn’t a good feeling, and this helps keep air flowing so you’re not as sweaty. Frogg Toggs Poncho It also folds up easily! We tuck it into our backpack in the morning because we’re heading out to the parks, and then once it starts raining, we can easily take it out and put it on. Once that hour-long storm is over, we fold it back up again so it doesn’t get our backs all wet. It’s likely you’ll be pulling it on and off throughout the day, so you want to make sure it’s easy to access. Frogg Toggs Poncho You might be tempted to say, “Well, I know Disney World sells ponchos, so I can buy one when I’m in the parks, so I don’t have to carry it around all day if it doesn’t rain.” We hate to break it to you, but it’s probably going to rain at least at some point during your trip. The ponchos in the parks aren’t reusable, they’re expensive, and you don’t want to run to the nearest store to get them (along with all the other people who didn’t bring their own). Yes, it’s something extra to carry around, but it really does make life so much easier. Get It on sale here! Planning a trip to Disneyland is a lot different than planning a trip to Disney World. First, you don’t really need to do so much planning (and a lot of us LOVE that). But another thing that’s different is that you might be way better off staying at a hotel that isn’t on Disney property because there are so many great hotels in the area that are so close to Disneyland. The Anaheim Hotel Well, if you’re thinking about visiting Disneyland and looking for a great hotel, there’s one that keeps winning a HUGE award year after year, and to celebrate its FIFTH year winning that award, it’s giving away a fourth free night if you book three days with the hotel. For the fifth year in a row, The Anaheim Hotel, which is literally across the street from Disney California Adventure in Disneyland, has received TripAdvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best for 2026. This puts it among the top 1 percent of more than 8 million hotels listed on TripAdvisor. That’s a big deal! ©The Anaheim Hotel To celebrate this achievement and to thank travelers who reviewed the hotel, The Anaheim Hotel is launching a special promotion where you can stay three nights and get a fourth night free. This exclusive rate is available on select room types for stays through 2026 while rooms last. So you’ll want to hop on over to The Anaheim Hotel website and use promo code 4NF after selecting four nights when booking online. Or you can call 1-800-631-4144 to book, too! ©The Anaheim Hotel “This is hard-won recognition, shaped by millions of travelers who booked, showed up, and rated what was actually worth their time,” said Laurel Greatrix, Chief Communications Officer, Tripadvisor Group. “There’s a clear theme in this year’s winners: they bring out what makes a destination unique. These aren’t experiences that simply fill an itinerary — they’re the experiences that give you a better way to understand a place.” The Anaheim Hotel! If we’re spending $22 on a slice of cake, we want to love it, and these are the top three favorites that are worth your money! Cake Bake Shop The Cake Bake Shop Bakery on Disney’s BoardWalk is home to some of our favorite sweets at Disney World, and we’ve shared our ranking of all the cake slices we’ve tried. The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers can be found right next to the Cake Bake Shop Restaurant. It has been controversial among Disney fans — mostly for their massive cake slices that are $22 a piece! With that price tag, you want to make sure you’re going to love it. 3. Earl’s Court Chocolate Cake A slice of Gwendolyn’s Famous Earl’s Court Chocolate Cake is made with Valrhona French chocolate cake filled with Callebaut Belgian chocolate ganache and malted chocolate cream. Topped with Callebaut Belgian chocolate fudge and Fleur de Sel. Gwendolyn’s Famous Earl’s Court Chocolate Cake The cake itself is fluffy but still has that slight density you want in a really good chocolate cake that’s rich and satisfying without being overly sweet. The chocolate flavor is deep and well-balanced, and then between each layer, you get this thick, creamy chocolate ganache that might have been our favorite part of the whole dessert. It’s smooth, sweet, intensely chocolatey, with even a little hint of nuttiness, and it’s layered so perfectly throughout the cake. Look at the layers Inside, there are also layers of malted chocolate cream, which are lighter in flavor and cooler in texture, and they do such a good job balancing out the heavier chocolate notes. It keeps the cake from feeling too rich all at once, even though it’s definitely indulgent. And then the top is just incredible: a thick Belgian chocolate fudge layer finished with fleur de sel, which adds this subtle saltiness that cuts through the sweetness in the best way. It’s beautifully done, beautifully plated, and even dusted with a little edible glitter, because of course it is. A bite 2. Millionaire Cake When we tried the Millionaire Cake. This cake is made of multiple layers of moist chocolate cake with inserts of chocolate ganache, buttercream icing, creamy caramel, and shortbread crumbs. To put it bluntly, this thing is heavenly! Millionaire’s Cake If you’re a fan of a good Millionaire’s Shortbread (which, hello, that’s us), you’re going to fall in love all over again with this version of a classic treat. The entire cake was so soft and melted in your mouth, and it’s encased on the sides and top in a layer of milk chocolate topped with more caramel drizzle and shortbread crumbs. Delicious! 1. Peanut Butter Crunch Cake The Peanut Butter Crunch Cake is number one in our hearts. This was layers of chocolate cake with peanut butter buttercream, chocolate ganache, and crunchy chocolate pearls between the layers. That chocolate was rich and sweet, and the ganache complemented the peanut butter nicely. The peanut butter buttercream was our favorite part, though — a delightful peanut butter flavor and some excellent texture from the crunchy pearls that made it more unique. Peanut Butter Crunch The cake itself was moist and thick, and, as usual, very high quality. The whole thing is sprinkled with edible glitter, which just makes it all the more magical. We highly recommend this treat if you’re a chocolate and PB lover — like us! This cake slice was the monthly limited edition cake, but we’re hoping it will stick around! YUM! I know I am already dreaming of which one I’ll be grabbing on my next trip to the Cake Bake Shop! For Disney dining reviews, news, and more, be sure to follow DisneyFoodBlog. If you’ve ever been to Disney World in the summer, then you know the weather is only two things: hot and rainy. After the major heatwave last week, Mother Nature is yet again headed for the House of Mouse with a potential tropical storm or depression. A rainy Magic Kingdom entrance A new storm system started forming off the coast of central Florida on Wednesday. According to the National Hurricane Center tracking it, there’s a much higher chance that the storm could become the season’s next tropical storm or depression! “Regardless, the development of the low will lead to a tightening pressure gradient across east Central Florida, with southerly winds picking up to 10 to 15 mph areawide,” forecasters said. “Increasing moisture through the weekend and into early next week as a result of the southerly flow and the developing low will lead to scattered to numerous shower and storm chances across the area, primarily during the afternoon hours each day.” ©The National Hurricane Center We’ll be sure to keep you updated on the weather at Disney World. In case you missed it, DinoLand USA at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is under construction to become a newly reimagined Tropical Americas land! This change will bring three brand-new rides, along with a new quick-service restaurant that will be the largest on Disney property. @Disney Disney has been hard at work building the new land, and if you look in the right places, you can see them building it yourself through the construction walls. We stopped by the construction site yesterday, and the Encanto ride just hit a massive milestone! Disney just put this massive crane in the future Pueblo Esperanza. Construction is being done on the roofs of buildings Disney kept to retheme, like Chester & Hester’s Gift Shop and Restaurantosaurus, so it’s likely the roofs are being transformed right now! Cranes! Then, we saw construction workers on the roof of one of the buildings. They’ve taken off the shingles of most of the roof, and only a few are left, so it’s likely that this roof is being redone as well. Construction workers at Pueblo Esperanza When we looked closer at the rides, some progress has been made on this new two-story building, which will become the animal-themed carousel. It looks like this central concrete beam is covered with scaffolding, and it will likely be the center pole of the carousel. Construction is progressing! But that’s not all – there’s something new behind it, too. The Encanto ride building has a new wire frame along the roof! Could we see some more new additions to it soon? What’s happening at the Madrigal House? The new wire frame is likely to be used to construct the roof and faux upper levels of the Madrigal House, or it could be used for fake greenery and rocks that Disney uses to hide the land’s surroundings. Model of the Encanto ride Regardless of what the new wire frame will become, we’ll be sure to update you when Disney adds it. Stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for more Disney World news! If there’s one Disney World purchase that can save you money, keep you going, and make your park day easier, it’s a good water bottle. We love Owalas! Florida heat is no joke, and most guests don’t realize how much water they’ll go through until they’re already thirsty. After testing some of the most popular insulated bottles in the parks, we found that each one solves a different problem. If you’re trying to decide between Stanley, Owala, and YETI, here’s the breakdown. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. The Water Bottle That Actually Doesn’t Leak in Your Bag Little Mermaid Owala If you’ve ever pulled your water bottle out of your backpack only to find your snacks, phone, and park map all soaked, you know the betrayal is real. Leaking bottles are one of those small annoyances that can ruin an otherwise great day, especially when you’re trying to keep your bag light and functional for hours of walking. The Owala Disney Princess FreeSip Insulated Stainless Steel Water Bottle in the Ariel colorway solved this problem completely. This 24-oz bottle didn’t leak a single drop, even when tossed around in a crowded backpack all day. Little Mermaid Owala The push-button locking lid gives you the option to sip through the built-in straw or tilt back and drink from the wide-mouth spout, and the subtle Disney Princess theme with its shimmery seashell detail adds just the right amount of magic without being over the top. The ice in this bottle lasted an unbelievable amount of time, staying frozen well past 24 hours even after a full day in the direct sun. If you want a bottle that keeps up with your park day without punishing your bag, you’ll want to grab this one before your trip. view ON AMAZON This Is the Bottle That Fixes Your Cleaning Nightmares Stanley IceFlow Nobody wants to scrub tiny straw crevices with a bottle brush after a long day at the parks, but plenty of insulated bottles make cleaning genuinely difficult. If you’re someone who values a bottle you can actually take apart and get spotless, this next one solves that problem in a big way. The Stanley IceFlow Flip Straw 2.0 Water Bottle comes in many different color patterns with a FlowState lid that fully disassembles for deep cleaning, which makes a real difference after days of iced coffee, park snacks, and sunscreen-covered hands touching everything. The lid and sipper The rotating lid gives you a straw opening, a drink opening, and a full-cover top for spill protection, all in one design. The double-wall vacuum insulation keeps drinks cold for eight hours and ice intact for up to 30 hours, and the flip-down handle makes it easy to carry through crowded queues. If low-maintenance hydration sounds appealing, this one is worth adding to your park bag. view ON AMAZON The Bottle You Need When Rules Say Drinks Must Be Covered Our Yeti! Plenty of Disney World transportation and attractions require drinks to have a secure lid, and showing up with an open cup can mean tossing your beverage before you board. If you want something built for those situations without sacrificing insulation, this is the bottle to consider. The YETI Rambler 26-oz Bottle uses a handle that easily twists off to reveal a shatter-resistant, dishwasher-safe spout, and removing the full cap exposes a wide mouth for easy refills and cleaning. The top! It holds just two ounces more than some competitors, but the sturdier build helps it maintain temperature even when it’s sitting in direct sun outside of your bag for hours. It also comes with a spare straw, which is a nice touch for swapping between cleanings, plus a registered warranty for peace of mind. If you’re planning a day full of rides and transportation with strict lid requirements, this bottle has you covered. view ON AMAZON At the end of the day, all three of these bottles bring something different to the table, whether that’s the Owala’s no-leak reliability, the Stanley’s easy cleaning, or the YETI’s rugged durability. And choosing the right one really comes down to what matters most for your specific trip. We’re always on the hunt for the latest and greatest Disney souvenirs and essentials, so don’t forget to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more! View the full article

We recently got to check out a hotel in the Orlando area that’s entirely new to us, and it was INCREDIBLE. Let’s go to the LEGOLAND Hotel! We visited LEGOLAND Florida and stopped by their LEGOLAND Hotel. When we tell you guys that this hotel is made with kids in mind, we mean it! The details are well thought out, and the theming was over the top and incredible. Interested in staying there in the future? Come along with us on the full tour! Atmosphere & Lobby Welcome to the LEGOLAND Hotel, one of three hotels that are part of LEGOLAND Florida! The LEGO detailing starts on the exterior, so that when you first drive up, you’re already immersed in the theme. Porte cochere You’re even greeted by a LEGO doorman! LEGO figures everywhere There are LEGO play areas and interactive exhibits all throughout the lobby. We found this to be one of (if not THE) most kid-friendly hotels we’d ever been inside. Lobby Seriously, there are SO many areas for playing! While the adults check in (which is either at the front desk or one of the provided kiosks), kids can explore and create. So much to do! There’s a large castle-themed play area in the back of the lobby, complete with ball pit, and brick stations for small-scale building throughout the lobby. In the lobby There are several little activities — a pajama party, bonfire (you can buy a s’mores kit with nine s’mores for $25), and LEGO workshops at the Creative Workshop. They also have the LEGO Theater, which plays clips from The LEGO Movie. The LEGO Theater! But we can’t forget about the food! Dining There are two main restaurants in this hotel. The first is Bricks Family Restaurant, which serves breakfast from 7 AM to 11 AM and dinner from 5 PM to 9 PM. Bricks Family Restaurant The menu here is all-you-care-to-enjoy, with breakfast served family-style and dinner as a buffet. There are vegan and vegetarian menu items available as well. At the table Of course, the restaurant is also themed to LEGO, with giant models of LEGO characters and fun artwork. So themed! The other main dining spot is Skyline Lounge with theming of a city skyline sort of vibe. This one is open starting at noon each day and stays open until 9 PM Monday through Thursday, and until 10 PM Friday through Sunday. Skyline Lounge This lounge offers an à la carte menu and a full bar and has its own play area. Reservations are recommended to dine here. More LEGO! This is likely going to be your go-to spot if you want to grab lunch at the hotel, since Bricks Family Restaurant isn’t open during that time. The bar Amenities For hotel amenities, there’s one large pool available, which has giant floating LEGO bricks for kids to play with while they swim! The pool LEGOLAND Florida Resort is a certified Autism center, so you’ll find sensory guides in some of the public spaces. This is the one posted near the pool. Sensory Guide There’s also a waterslide open for part of the day! Unlike other hotels, this slide is separate from the pool. Waterslide LEGOLAND Hotel also has its own mini golf course, but you’ll need to pay extra to experience this. Mini Golf It’s themed to wild animals, which are — of course — made of LEGO. Pay at the kiosk There is a boardwalk and a pier where pontoon boat rides are sometimes offered. This is the perfect place to sit and watch the water! Dock And of course, there’s a shuttle available for those staying at the resort. The shuttle bus If you get lost, there are amenities maps posted around to help guide you. They even show where ramps are located as opposed to stairs! Map to guide you Now, let’s chat about the rooms! Room Tours LEGO Duplo Room There are seven different room types at LEGOLAND Hotel, and we got to see three of them during our visit. First up was the LEGO Duplo room, themed to those larger LEGO bricks that are made for smaller children. Entering the room Each of these hotel rooms is split into separate sleeping areas for adults and kids. Some room types are available in suites that sleep up to nine people, but the three rooms we saw each sleep up to five. The main area The theming in these rooms is seriously over-the-top! They have decorated nearly every inch of the walls and added in LEGO builds and figures throughout. TV and desk The kids get a bunkhouse space with a trundle bed to sleep the fifth person. The Duplo version of this was SO bright and colorful — themed to the jungle! Kids bunkhouse And of course, the bedding is decorated to match! The bunks Both the adult room and the kids’ space get TVs. There’s also some storage on the shelving underneath. Their own TV! The bathroom in the Duplo rooms is themed to the Arctic with Duplo penguins! We particularly love the LEGO-framed mirror. Bathroom And the toilets? They have adjustable seats for your little ones! Special toilet cover Of course, since these rooms are designed for families with kids, there’s a shower and tub combo with a removable shower head. Tub/shower combo But the best part about the hotel rooms at LEGOLAND Hotel might be the kid-friendly treasure hunt found in each room! Scavenger hunt! Each room has a little puzzle that kids can solve to open a lock on a chest by the door. The chest has fun stuff for the kids inside! There were two apple juice boxes and two LEGO DUPLO celebration cakes in our room. Our prizes! Now, on to the next! LEGO Friends Room Another room we toured was the LEGO Friends room! This is aimed toward slightly older children and has a summer camp-like theme. Entrance area The kids’ bunkhouse looks just like a cabin and has a fun campfire mural on the wall. They’ve even added letters on the floor! Bunkhouse space Like the other room, there’s a TV available and some storage for the kids. Kids’ TV There’s ample storage in the room for five people, including this wardrobe area with shelves, a luggage rack, drawers, and a safe. Storage Each room also comes with a full-length mirror. Full-length mirror The bathroom in these rooms is a bit more understated compared to the LEGO Duplo Room. Bathroom And of course, the main space has your bed, desk, chairs, and nightstands. Main bed The furniture in these hotel rooms was surprisingly sturdy — not cheesy at all! Desk and TV But our favorite theme might be… The LEGO Movie Room …the LEGO Movie Rooms! These are themed to one of the funniest kids’ movies of all time (in this writer’s humble opinion). Entrance Like the others, they have a scavenger hunt for the kiddos when you walk in. Start the scavenger hunt! There are SO many nods and hidden details from the movie around this room, from the posters and bulletin board to the characters on the bedding. Main bed Have we mentioned how fun this LEGO brick carpet is? You’ll see it in several spaces throughout the hotel, and it’s the perfect addition to the vibe. Desk and TV If you plan to stay in one of these rooms before your trip, we recommend watching the movie ahead of time so you can search for all of the Easter eggs. So many details! The bathroom is super over-the-top with bright colors… WILD bathroom …and a rainbow LEGO mirror! Each room comes equipped with towels and some basic toiletries. So many colors! The shower has shampoo, conditioner, and body wash that doubles as hand soap in easy-to-use pumps. Toiletries These kids’ bunks are themed to a rocket ship, and they are very cool! You get some outer space detailing and some fun “stickers” on the wall. Bunkhouse These E & L 4-Eva pillows are a fun hidden detail. We totally ship Emmet and Lucy! So cute! That’s a wrap on our visit to the LEGOLAND Hotel! This could be a great option for families with kids or LEGO lovers, because they do NOT skimp on the theme here. We really enjoyed our visit! Deck the (Grand) Hall! Go ahead and trim the (palm) trees! It’s time for the most wonderful voyage of the year. If you’re already dreaming of making waves, and your holiday list includes things like “more days at sea,” then, oh sugarplum, does Disney Cruise Line have the itineraries for you. It’s never too early to get into the spirit of the season and book a Very Merrytime cruise for you and your loved ones this year. As an avid Disney Cruise Line enthusiast, do I find myself dreaming of sailing away with the smells of gingerbread and hot cocoa wafting through the atrium or Grand Hall all the way up to the upper decks? Absolutely, I do. I’ve previously embarked on a Very Merrytime sailing, and I’m eager to sail on one again, and soon. (If any family member of mine is reading this right now, just say the word, and I’ll book!) But just how does a Very Merrytime sailing differ from a sailing during any other time of the year? Well, first of all, way more Christmas trees (seriously, more than I could even count, on both land and sea), along with festive holiday décor, holiday-themed entertainment, Mickey Mouse and the gang wearing their holiday best, and sweets that will be dancing in your head as you drift off to sleep after a sea day. It’s always a rush to enter the atrium or Grand Hall, but now imagine doing so and being immediately greeted by one of the most marvelous Christmas trees you’ve ever seen, and a pretty epic gingerbread house, too. You deserve a Halfway to the Holidays treat, and now’s the perfect time to start looking at dates: Very Merrytime cruises start sailing in November and run through the end of the year. Whether this is a bucket-list item or just a way to get the whole family together on one ship, this is why you want this vacation neatly packaged under the tree. What is a Very Merrytime Cruise? A Very Merrytime Cruise is Disney Cruise Line’s way of bringing the joy and warmth of the holiday season to the high seas. The ships are transformed into a festive celebration filled with sparkling décor, seasonal entertainment, and magical touches around every corner. Available on select itineraries, you can find ships sailing from Port Canaveral and Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Galveston, Texas; and San Diego, California. What’s Included on a Very Merrytime Cruise? First of all, magic. That’s what you’ll find on every Very Merrytime cruise. Just stern-to-bow magic. But, OK, if you’re looking for tangible things that you can snap pictures of to post to social media, Very Merrytime cruises include everything you know and love about a Disney cruise. You’re going to get your nightly themed rotational dining, along with Broadway-style shows in the Walt Disney Theatre, plus a pool deck that has fun for all ages. Let’s not forget the endless hot chocolate, and all the beloved soft-serve ice cream you can enjoy to your festive heart’s content. And that’s just the start – Very Merrytime sailings add even more included comfort and joy including special deck parties, themed activities and crafts and a chance to meet the “big guy” himself. The Very Merrytime cruises have dialed the holiday magic up to a solid 25, as the ships are fully decked out (no pun intended) with Christmas trees and decorations, characters in their merry best, and specialty snacks, food, and drinks throughout the voyage. Mickey & Minnie’s Merrytime Tree Lighting Gather round for a heartwarming, traditional celebration where Mickey Mouse and friends help light the ship’s holiday tree. It’s one of those quintessential Very Merrytime moments—equal parts cozy and spectacular—that sets the tone for the entire sailing. Mickey and Minnie’s Holiday Party Join your Disney friends on the upper decks for good tidings, music and cheer as you celebrate friendship, love, and family during this special time of year. Expect a lively atmosphere, festive décor, and a high-energy celebration. Themed Activities and Crafts for Kids Have some festive fun and get creative with Christmas cheer for the young and young-at-heart. Throughout the sailing, families can drop into holiday-themed activities that add a hands-on, memory-making element to all the magic happening around the ship. Holiday Merchandise ‘Tis the season to pick up exclusive, holiday-themed Disney Cruise Line gifts for family and friends—and make Christmas wishes come true. Whether you’re looking for keepsakes or just something cozy to wear onboard, these limited-time offerings make it easy to bring a little Very Merrytime magic home with you. This also extends beyond the ship, because if you’re sailing to one of Disney’s island destinations — Disney Castaway Cay and Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point — you’ll find that the yuletide cheer extends there, too. Have you ever seen a tropical Christmas tree before? Do you want to see a tropical Christmas tree? You will at both locations. On my sailing, I also couldn’t help but notice some fitting nautical background music, including a song I’m still humming to this day about having a “Beach Christmas.” How to Make the Most of Very Merrytime Everyone has different holiday traditions, and it might be time to blend the old with the new on a sailing. What new memories will you create? If your family loves to lounge around in matching pajamas, bring them! There are plenty of picture spots where you can take next year’s holiday card. Or, if just sippin’ on hot cocoa and chatting it up with grandma is more your thing, there are plenty of cozy nooks to get comfortable. And if you want to see the big guy in red, Santa makes frequent stops onboard, so get your list ready. One of the best ways to get ready for a Very Merrytime cruise is simply to familiarize yourself with the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app ahead of time, so when you’re onboard, you don’t miss a second of the magic. You’ll also be able to see additional services available (like recreation and the spa) if that’s a key factor of your trip. Why I Love Very Merrytime Cruises I’ve had the opportunity to sail on a variety of different ships, all with different itineraries, and visits to both island destinations, but there’s something about my Very Merrytime sailing that has stayed with me. During the holidays, rather than doing the usual “drive around and look at light displays,” I thought, why not spend a few days at sea, soaking in the festive atmosphere all while sailing through the Caribbean? I packed festive outfits and honestly shrieked out loud when I saw Daisy Duck’s holiday fit (seriously, she’s so fabulous). I insisted that my boyfriend take my picture in front of the atrium Christmas tree every single night because it was so impressive. I also freaked out every time I came across a new Christmas tree onboard, since they were all perfectly themed for their designated spaces. I watched my favorite holiday movie, The Muppet Christmas Carol, in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean while enjoying banana soft-serve ice cream. So, if you’re ready to set sail, you know what to do. Sleigh on over to Disney Cruise Line and hopefully I’ll see you at sea this holiday season. It’s HOT out there this summer, and that means sometimes you’re looking for a sweet treat to cool yourself off. Who’s ready for a new DOLE Whip? While we’ll never say no to ice cream, sometimes we don’t want dairy on a hot day, and that’s where DOLE Whip comes in. Many guests believe you can only find it in the Disney World parks, but that’s not true. You can also head over to Pineapple Lanai at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort for some DOLE Whip, and right now you DEFINITELY will want to, because this new treat is everything! Available now at Pineapple Lanai is none other than the DOLE Whip Peach with Streusel Crisp for $7.29. It did start melting almost immediately, so you’ll want to enjoy it ASAP! The peach flavor is strong here in the best way, and we loved the big chunks of peach pie filling. DOLE Whip Peach with Streusel Crisp The peach isn’t all sweet; it’s got a bit of tartness to it, which makes the treat light and refreshing. The streusel bits added a cinnamon, crispy texture, but we did wish there was more of it. The peach pie filling is reminiscent of canned peaches of our childhood with a light syrup, so it was nostalgic in the best way. We loved the waffle bowl with it all, too, and if you can get a bite of all the ingredients together? Heaven! We’re big fans of this! You can also grab the Swirl Up Some Magic Cup with Dole Whip for $5.99, plus an extra $3 for the souvenir cup itself, making it a total of $8.99. Swirl Up Some Magic Cup with Dole Whip The cup itself is so cute with lots of the classic characters on it, including Mickey, Pluto, Dumbo, and Tinkerbell. It’s very heavy-duty plastic and is a perfect memento for National DOLE Whip Day. We chose the classic swirl, which is creamy vanilla swirled with fresh pineapple DOLE Whip. The pineapple flavor is so refreshing and light, and the vanilla ice cream mixed in gives it float flavors without having the juice. It’s the perfect summer treat, and we’ll stand by that! Heads up, drink fans! There’s a new, limited-time offering at one of your favorite bars in the Disney parks, and it’s time to grab it ASAP. Oga’s Cantina Oga’s Cantina in both Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland Park is one of our favorite places to go for a unique drink in the parks. Not to mention, if you’re a Star Wars fan, we think visiting at least once is a must-do, just due to the incredible atmosphere. That’s especially true now that there’s a brand new drink available, but only for a limited time! The Disney Parks X account recently posted about the new drink available at Oga’s Cantina to celebrate the bar’s birthday! The new drink is called Alderaanian Fizz and is made with Mandarin orange vodka, blue Curaçao, ginger mule mix, pure cane sugar syrup, and soda water, topped with candied ginger. ©Disney The post doesn’t specify if it’s in Disneyland or Disney World, so our guess is both! Currently, there’s no ending date for the drink that’s been released, so we recommend grabbing it sooner rather than later just to be on the safe side. We know we can’t wait to try it! The drinks at Oga’s Cantina are so unique! If you head to the bar and find that reservations are filled up, there’s no need to fret! Currently at Oga’s Cantina in Hollywood Studios, there’s a special line where you can walk inside the bar, grab a drink, and then be on your way. You’ll wait for your turn outside, then head inside the bar with a Cast Member to the little open area along the bar for to-go orders. It’s been around for roughly two years, but so many people don’t know about it, and it can really save you tons of time. Our to-go drink! One of our favorite shows from our childhood could be coming back for this generation, but currently, it’s only a possibility and not guaranteed. ©Disney “The Mickey Mouse Club” was a show created by Walt Disney himself. It started as a live, traveling theatre show, then aired on ABC in 1955. It ran briefly, then became a syndicated show in the 1970s. The most well-known version of the show is the 1989 “The All-New Mickey Mouse Club,” which starred and showcased lots of young talent, including Britney Spears, Ryan Gosling, Justin Timberlake, and Christina Aguilera. Now, it’s possible the show could be coming BACK! Variety has reported that Disney+ has ordered a pilot of a new reboot of “The Mickey Mouse Club,” complete with an all-new cast of Mouseketeers. The new cast includes Camp Rock 3 cast members Hudson Stone, Casey Trotter, and Brooklynn Pitts, as well as Erianthe Akaata (“Young Rock”), Scarlett London Diviney (“The Lion King”), Michael Cash (“Black Rabbit”), Yonas Kibreab (“Elio”), Varonica Mitchell, Kauani, Scarlett Grace Petty, and Carter Barnes. ©Variety The pilot is being produced by Fulwell Entertainment with executive producers Ben Winston, Ashley Edens, Emma Conway, and Dave Piendak. Production begins this month in Los Angeles, and while not much is known about the potential new show, if it’s ordered to series, it’ll be focused on serving as a showcase for young performers with music playing a big part. There are some new Disney World hotel rules to prepare for ahead of this Christmas season! Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge The holiday season is one of the busiest times in Disney World, and for good reason! Between the seasonal events, gorgeous decor, and special treats, the vibe around the resort is extra-festive. But before you plan the itinerary for your Christmas vacation in Disney World, we expect that some new hotel rules will be in place, which might mean you need to adjust your holiday traditions! Disney Springs Hotel Transportation Restrictions Earlier this year, Disney officially implemented a new rule that the Disney Springs buses and boats are only available to guests with a hotel stay or a reservation for a meal or experience at one of the Disney hotels. Disney Springs Transportation Rule Reservations must be within two hours in order to be granted access to the buses and boats, and Cast Members near the entrances of the transportation areas will scan Magic Bands and passes to confirm a valid hotel stay or reservation before letting people enter. Disney Springs transportation rules. If you’ve previously visited Disney Springs to do some holiday shopping, then hopped over to the hotels to check out the Christmas decor from there, heads up that you’ll no longer be able to access the Disney Springs transportation unless you’re a hotel guest or have an upcoming hotel dining reservation! Christmas Decorations Intended for Hotel Guests Only Another major holiday tradition that’s getting a shake-up this year is hotel holiday decor. Disney recently announced that the iconic life-size Grand Floridian gingerbread house is officially retired. In its place, the hotel will feature a few small gingerbread displays made by Disney’s culinary team. Grand Floridian Gingerbread Display (2024) But while the end of the era that was the Grand Floridian gingerbread house got most of the hype, there was another detail in Disney’s recent announcement about holiday festivities that also caught our eye. In a post about the upcoming holidays, Disney said, “For guests staying at the resorts or for those with valid dining reservations, the Disney Resorts Collection offers a wide array of bright and merry holiday decor.” Christmas Tree at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge The inclusion of “for guests staying at the resorts or for those with valid dining reservations…” at the start of that statement makes it look like Disney is pretty serious about cutting down on guests “resort hopping” to take in the various Christmas displays. If you typically look forward to visiting different hotels to soak in the details of their holiday decorations, beware that you’ll need to have an Advance Dining Reservation if you aren’t a hotel guest! Limits on Mobile Ordering at Hotel Restaurants Disney World’s My Disney Experience app recently added a major new mobile ordering change that has restricted mobile ordering at certain locations. There are currently several Disney World hotel restaurants that don’t allow mobile ordering unless you’re physically at the restaurant, including Gasparilla Island Grill at the Grand Floridian Resort, Capt. Cook’s at the Polynesian Village, Contempo Cafe at the Contemporary Resort, and Geyser Point at Wilderness Lodge. Chocolate Mickey Choux from Gasparilla Island Grill If you try to place a Mobile Order at one of the restaurants included in the restriction, the app shows an error message that says “You’re too far away” and prompts you to move closer to the restaurant to place an order. Cupcake from Capt. Cook’s Disney didn’t make an announcement about this change, so it’s possible that it might be either a glitch or a temporary restriction. But considering Disney’s other attempts to cut back on non-hotel guests visiting the hotels, we think it’s definitely possible that this change has a similar intention! With that in mind, we’re preparing ourselves for the potential limits on Mobile Ordering at hotel restaurants, especially during the busy holiday season. Don’t let these Disney World hotel changes catch you off guard during your Christmas vacation! We’ll continue to be on the lookout for more news about other rule updates from the hotels and beyond, so stay tuned for the latest info! Disney World, like other theme parks, is not immune to unpleasant things happening. With the heat being as intense as it is during the summer, the general ability for human beings to accidentally trip and fall anywhere, and medical emergencies that don’t care where you are when they happen, the parks are bound to have incidents. “it’s a small world” Disney is required to report incidents of guests being injured on their rides, or incidents that require someone to be in the hospital for over 24 hours, as part of incident reports. Most recently, it was reported that in April 2026, a man passed away from a heart attack after riding “it’s a small world” in Magic Kingdom. According to the Orlando Sentinel, the incident occured on April 24th. A 54-year-old man rode the slow-moving boat ride attraction and unexpectedly had a cardiac emergency on board. He was rushed to the hospital, where he later passed away. The report also notes that the man had a pre-existing condition. “it’s a small world” The results of these incidents are made public quarterly due to an agreement with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. The names of those involved are never released, and the state of Florida does not receive additional information about these incidents after the initial assessment. In total, Disney World had nine incidents during the April-May-June period, with this “it’s a small world” death being one of them. “it’s a small world” Magic Kingdom also had two other incidents during this period; a 75-year-old woman fell and hit her head leaving Space Mountain, and a 44-year-old man with pre-existing conditions had back pain on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. In EPCOT, a 74-year-old man with pre-existing conditions had nausea and vomited after riding Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, and over at Blizzard Beach, a 41-year-old woman hit her head while riding Blizzard Beach water park’s Snow Stormers and suffered a laceration. Magic Kingdom Entrance In comparison, Universal Orlando had four incidents during the same period at Islands of Adventure, Volcano Bay, and Epic Universe, while there were no incidents reported at SeaWorld Orlando, Legoland Florida, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, or Universal Studios Florida. Islands of Adventure We’ll be sure to keep you updated on these incident reports as they come out. If you’re in Disney World right now and planning to head to Disney Springs to start your morning, we need to issue a MAJOR warning. Talk about a line! Friday evenings and weekends are usually the busiest in Disney Springs, as that’s when many locals head into the shopping and dining district to do some shopping and/or dine at their favorite spots. This morning, though? Something is happening that’s likely to affect practically everyone heading into the area. It’s causing a TON of traffic and chaos, so beware. Before we get into the details, you need to know about Lorcana. Lorcana is a VERY popular game that involves trading cards that are based off of Disney properties. If you love to play TCG-style games, or just want to collect the gorgeous cards, it’s fun for everyone to play. It’s grown in popularity over the years, and is so well-known now that when Disney had Lorcana cards as part of the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts earlier this year, they were QUICK to go, considering they were free. Lorcana Map and Stickers at Festival of the Arts Today, July 17th, the newest set pre-releases, which is called Attack of the Vine. It’ll be everywhere in a week, on July 24th, but the pre-release is a BIG deal. As part of the pre-release, there are special pre-release boxes available, which help you get the most out of the experience, as they also contain an exclusive poster and promo card. ©Disney The crowds for this release in Disney Springs are WILD. One of our reporters’ sons got in line this morning at Disney Springs around 6:10 AM, and the line of cars to get into Lime Garage was so incredibly backed up that police officers were attempting to get people to leave the line, to no avail. It’s also been reported that the Oxford Street Disney Store in London, England, had to close the store temporarily and stop the release due to the crowds. The crowds are WILD We spoke to some of the guests who successfully purchased the new collection, who informed us that people are being limited to buying just one box per person. They also let us know just how brutal it was early this morning — there was a lot of arguing, pushing, shoving, cutting in line, and other unsavory behavior. Even around 9 AM when we were there, we’ve never seen so many Cast Members, police, and security in one place. We also saw Reedy Creek come in with flashing lights twice with ambulances and paramedics. In other words, it’s chaos. It just keeps going! If you’re planning to head into Disney Springs today, especially this morning, it’s important to know about these crowds and plan accordingly. It may be better to take Disney World transportation instead of your own car, or a rideshare, as parking may very well be hard to find. We also recommend allowing more time for any dining reservations you may have this morning into the early afternoon. As of 10 AM, the line had grown so much that the end of it was over by the bridge near Paddlefish. — we even started to see people DoorDashing food TO the line! Around the Disney Parks Blog office, we trade bags of Twinings like baseball cards and hotly debate the correct way to pronounce “bergamot.” A quiet herbal tea is the perfect pause in our busy publishing days, and a caffeinated cuppa makes posts like this possible. So, it would be an understatement to say we were excited to review the new The Garden View Lounge — Tea Experience at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Down the rabbit hole and into a teacup, you’re invited to pull up a chair with me and Laura on behalf of Disney Eats. Our elegant table awaits, with Alice In Wonderland-inspired whimsy and, why yes, plenty of tea and scones. A Magical Warm Welcome Don’t worry, we’ll get to the scones. But first, we took our seats at a table set with delicate floral teacups and saucers. The carpeted lounge felt intimate and refined, layered with muted fabrics, polished wood, and classic Victorian-inspired details that reflect the resort’s timeless elegance. Natural light filled the space, pouring in through windows that framed sweeping views of flowering gardens and swaying palms just outside. And just like at the Mad Tea Party, Laura and I eventually switched seats to enjoy the view (and photogenic lighting). Our gracious server, Rola, greeted us as she poured warm rose water over two tablets in a little bowl. Suddenly, they sprouted in a very Wonderland way into a pair of hand towels! The warmth on our hands and soft floral scent was a small but thoughtful gesture that set the tone for an intentional and welcoming teatime. Rola wasn’t wrong when she promised this smelling session would ‘awaken your senses’. As we explored the menu, we were guided through a selection of eight Twinings teas, right at our table. A sample sniff of each loose-leaf tea was presented, allowing us to smell and explore before choosing. I selected the Blackcurrant & Lavender tea, drawn to its deep berry aroma with gentle floral notes. Laura, who has an eye for the unique, chose the Orangery of Lady Grey. In the U.S., this blend is exclusive to Walt Disney World Resort with bright citrus notes layered over a refined black tea base. A Round of Tea and Scones Our individual teapots arrived shortly after, each prepared specifically for our selections. As my tea was poured, the steam rose gently, carrying the scent of blackcurrant and lavender across the table. Having a pot to myself allowed me to sip at my own pace, returning to it throughout our afternoon without ever feeling rushed. Along with the tea came warm Orange-Cranberry Scones, served with butter, Devonshire cream, and preserves. Disney Eats Recipe Get the Disney Eats recipe for Orange-Cranberry Scones and make them just in time for tea at home. The scones were dense and indulgent. Rola let us know that we were welcome to request another scone during our tea service, and once our teapots were finished, we could ask to refresh our tea, included as part of the experience. That moment when an actual tower of treats arrives. Climbing the Afternoon Tea Tower Soon, Rola brought the afternoon tea tower to the ceremony of our ‘oohs’ and ‘ahs.’ Its three tiers offered a gradual journey through savory and sweet selections, but first, there was business to attend to. Rola proclaimed that there was a problem with our roses on the topmost tier: They weren’t red! The painting of the roses was a sweet way to welcome our tower. She quickly fixed them up with a liberal pouring of rose sauce. Now we were safe from the scrutiny of the Queen of Hearts and ready to dive in. The First Level: Savory Delights The bottom tier of our tea tower featured rich herbal flavors in two savory selections. Note that a plant-based selection is also on The Garden View Lounge — Tea Experience menu, along with a Children’s Afternoon Tea serving, and other extras like a cheese plate, caviar, and specialty drinks. The Curried Chicken Salad Playing Card Tart featured savory curried chicken salad topped with cherry gelée. Big fans of curry, Laura and I agreed that this was our favorite of every bite on the tower. The flaky tart was the perfect vessel for this tender curry treat with the cherry gelée hearts adding just a bit of sweetness. Next, the Footman’s Feast: Wonderland Salmon Crisp packed a bold salmon rillette on an interesting miso brown butter crisp. I was new to this flavor combination, with the brown butter sweetness mixing well with the salmon on top. The Second Level: Delicate Flavors Laura loved the Tweedledee Egg Salad Sandwich with egg salad on beet bread. The playful coloring on the bread was so delightful and again this was an addition to the tower that will leave you feeling full. The Caterpillar Cucumber Roll was the one I was excited about. Since my early days imagining fancy tea parties, cucumbers and cream cheese were on the dream menu. The butterfly pea flower-infused cream cheese added a bit of color and fantasy to a roll that was perfectly balanced; soft flavors of the crisp cucumber and the tang of the pumpernickel bread. The Third Level: Intricate Sweets The top tier was dedicated entirely to desserts and pastries, each one beautifully presented. Nods to Alice in Wonderland mingled in the elegance of traditional afternoon tea. I love both flamingos and croquet, so I went for the Flamingo Croquet Choux first. This puff was soft yet still crispy on the outside. The passion fruit cream filling and a raspberry crunch gave a fruit flavor that was impressive but not overpowering. Matcha Mad Hatter cake at The Garden View Lounge – Tea Experience The Matcha Mad Hatter is a good one to slice open to view the layers. Inside, we discovered a soft sponge cake with apricot jam and yuzu buttercream atop a piece of solid chocolate. The fruity flavors were perfect to blend with the gentle matcha cake. We sampled Painting the Rose next. I thought the Earl Grey-flavored teacake worked well with the rose buttercream and rose sauce on top. If you like a vibrant rose flavor, this is your treat. Our final toast was made via the Tea Party Tart. We plucked the tiny teacups from the top, then enjoyed the gentle sweetness of the coffee custard and Chantilly cream. Rain, Mr. Twining, and Laura at The Garden View Lounge Mr. Twining Has Arrived Laura was quite finished after we conquered the tower, but I asked for another scone. As the final cups of tea were poured, a very special guest popped by to say hello. “So happy to be here today for the reopening of this fabulous restaurant with great food!” The gregarious Mr. Stephen Twining is the tenth generation of the famous tea family; his father, Sam Twining, was at EPCOT on October 1, 1982, to welcome guests to The Tea Caddy in the UK Pavilion for the first time. For fans of tea, this was like meeting [insert your favorite sports star here]. Stephen is tall, British, and quick to laugh. He was delighted to join today’s tea party and encouraged us to try his favorite bites on the tea tower (he really likes the Cucumber Roll). I asked Stephen about his favorite tea blends, and he said he usually reaches for an English Breakfast in the morning and a refreshing green tea for an afternoon pick-me-up. Laura, curiouser and curiouser, asked Mr. Twining perhaps the most iconic question: “How do you take your tea?” “Depends on which tea,” Stephen suggested a splash of milk in the Orangery of Lady Grey or an English Breakfast. “But for green teas and herbals, just as they come.” I’ll be freely recounting this moment over tea for the next twenty years. Reserve Your Tea Experience Filled to the brim with tea and whimsy, we soon departed to continue our day at Disney. The Garden View Lounge — Tea Experience is an ideal option if you want to slow down your Walt Disney World Resort visit and savor every moment and flavor that comes across the table. Captain Maria Gotor is Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship captain and has taken the helm of one of the most iconic ships at sea, the Disney Wish. But long before she stood on the bridge, she was practicing law in Spain and never imagined a career at sea. In this Q&A, Captain Maria shares how a ferry ride changed the course of her life and what drew her to Disney Cruise Line. How did you first learn about careers in the maritime industry? Growing up in Spain, I remember hearing about careers like being a doctor, a lawyer or an architect. So I studied law and spent six years building my career as a lawyer. But one day, while sailing across the Strait of Gibraltar to meet some friends, I met the ferry’s captain and got to visit the wheelhouse. I asked what it took to become a captain and soon realized there was an entire industry I’ve never considered before. From there, I went back to school for a master’s degree in nautical engineering and maritime navigation while continuing to work. Even though I was starting over in a career I didn’t know much about, I was motivated and knew this was exactly what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. What were your early years at sea like? After finishing school, I began piloting the very same ferry that first introduced me to working at sea. After six years of coastal navigation, I wanted to keep learning, so I took on the challenge of ocean navigation aboard a passenger cruise ship. I joined the cruise industry in 2009 as a junior officer and worked my way up to staff captain, where I served as second-in-command of the vessel. I joined Disney Cruise Line in 2024, which is something I had thought about for years. What drew you to join Disney Cruise Line? I’ve sailed for many years, but there is something unique about Disney Cruise Line. The joy on board is real, and today I am the happiest I have ever been. I feel it from the guests, from the crew, even standing on the open deck. It’s unlike anything else in this industry. I remember watching my first “Let’s Set Sail” sail away celebration after joining the Disney Wish and feeling the emotion and the joy from everybody onboard. What is your favorite part of being a ship captain? Serving as captain of the Disney Wish is both deeply personal and professionally meaningful. Representing my home country of Spain on a ship like this makes it even more special. Guiding a cruise ship requires constant focus, judgment and precision. I love the challenge of monitoring changing conditions at sea or preparing to bring the ship safely into port. On the Disney Wish, there’s 144,000 tons of steel that you have to stop without brakes. It’s challenging, and it’s rewarding. But beyond my role on the bridge, I enjoy walking the ship and spending time with fellow officers and meeting our guests. And I quickly learned that the happiness I feel onboard extends to our fantastic crew. I’ll never forget when they celebrated and cheered me on during my first ship-wide announcement as Captain of the vessel. That was a special moment for me. Across the Disney Cruise Line fleet, crew members turn their own passions into rewarding careers at sea, creating unforgettable vacations for families around the world. And as Disney Cruise Line continues to grow, stories like Captain Maria’s reflect the many talented, dedicated crew members who bring both expertise and magic to every voyage. The Disney World parks and the surrounding hotels are known for having some pretty fantastic dining options. Some of them aren’t as well-known as we feel they should be, which is part of the reason why this coveted Orlando dining list exists! Bruschetta at Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill VisitOrlando’s Magical Dining is presented by Orlando Health and is a premier culinary celebration that highlights some of the best restaurants in Orlando. Not only that, but between $40 and $60 menus, the celebration also gives you a chance to dine at some of these spots on more of a budget from August 14th through September 30th, which is a huge win. Eight of the restaurants on Disney World property are included, so here’s where you should focus on dining! There are some Disney World trends we’re simply in love with. Duck Duck Razz One of those trends is the “tiny toy animals in our drinks” trend that we’ve seen a LOT in the past few years. Of course, it all started with the iconic Duck Duck Razz drink at The Boathouse, but now it’s so much more than that. We’ve seen tiny animals in beverages over and over again, and if you’re as obsessed as we are, then these are some you need to check out. Well, outside of The Boathouse, two other restaurants have jumped on this trend fairly hard. The Polite Pig has leaned heavily into its namesake, including tiny toy pigs on top of two different beverages now. This one is called The Pig Lagoon, made with lemon, lime, coconut cream, and blue Curacao syrup. Look at the little piggy! There was also the adorable Pigsty, made with cappuccino, chocolate, and spiced rum. This one was designed to look like a pig wallowing in mud! Pigsty However, the restaurant that has REALLY gone above and beyond with this trend is eet by Maneet Chauhan. The Indian fast casual spot has continued releasing new “tiny animal drinks” every season, and we are loving them so much. First, there was the Hank’s Gulf Coast Sunset with a miniature octopus — ours had a top hat and a mustache. A MUSTACHE, YOU GUYS!!! Hank’s Gulf Coast Sunset Perhaps even more adorable was the Dragon’s Breath, which they described as “a slushy made with our house-crafted dragon mist lemonade, passionfruit rum, and a touch of dragon fruit sugar from our neighbors at Spice & Tea Exchange Lake Buena Vista.” Dragon’s Breath More recently, we’ve had the Queen Bee, which was topped with a teeny tiny little black-and-yellow bee. Queen Bee Of course, we haven’t just been limited to animals. For Valentine’s Day, there was the Love Potion 67, topped with a mini cupcake. Love Potion 67 The Monster Mash-tini for Halloween was a quirky surprise. This was a little monster in a firefighter uniform — another great addition to our collection. It was a frozen green appletini with green apple vodka and a caramel drizzle. He’s so cute! The most chill little guy of the bunch is clearly The Penguin Club, which had a rockstar penguin in sunglasses with a guitar. The drink was made with coconut rum, blue curacao, pineapple juice, and cream of coconut. It was the perfect mid-winter drink since it looked like a penguin in the Arctic. The Penguin Club And we can’t forget the Gnome Place Like Home, which was a warm spiced cocktail with a little garden gnome on top. He’s precious! Gnome Place Like Home The most recent version was the Summer Paws, which includes a tiny little tiger. The twist here, though, is that the tiger is plush and therefore does NOT go inside the drink. You’ll just have to hold him on the side! Hooray for new friends! So, it seems that if you’re on the hunt for some tiny souvenirs that will fit easily in your suitcase, you need to go drink a few novelty beverages in Disney Springs. We’ve got quite the impressive collection of little critters now! Part of what makes Disney’s theme parks so special has always been their cross-generational appeal. After all, according to legend, part of Walt Disney’s drive to build Disneyland was to have a place where parents and children could have fun together. However, while the parks do bring different generations together, those generations also have their own VERY distinct opinions, as we recently learned yet again. Welcome to Magic Kingdom Recently, we took to our Facebook page to ask our readers, “What’s a Disney trend that you HATE??” We also requested that they not hold back in the comments, and y’all certainly listened. Let’s begin with a relatively nice one, as reader Alicia backed up our above point about cross-generational appeal, writing, “The myth that ‘Disney is just for kids.’ Walt built the parks for people of all ages!” Prince Charming Royal Carrousel Reader Stephen brought up some issues with younger guests, writing, “Recording the entire show on your phone, kids on shoulders for fireworks, and stopping multiple times to take a selfie in queues.” Happily Ever After Christy took a similar issue with technology users in the park, writing, “Visitors walking with their phones stretched out in front of themselves, experiencing everything through the camera screen. Take 5 or 6 photos of your group, then put the phone away and BE PRESENT. You don’t need people to get out of your way so you can get a picture of the entrance to “it’s a small world”. You can find that image online, along with ten billion other photos and videos of Disney doors, windows, signs, etc. There is a new walk-through video of every park on YouTube just about every day. You don’t have to spend the whole vacation documenting.” “it’s a small world” Reader Kaitie took aim at those who drink alcohol in the parks, writing in part, “Drinking around the world, bar crawls, etc. While many adults can and do drink responsibly, there are so many who clearly can’t. Share your drinks, have a snack INSTEAD of a drink, have a mocktail. Doing these things does not mean you “cheated” on your bar crawl, it means you stand less chance of becoming an obnoxious, or worse, aggressive, guest.” Collective Arts Brewing Grapefruit Lime Sour Kathy, who identified themselves as a Cast Member, shared, “…people who don’t respect our wildlife. People who let their children jump at or chase any of our wildlife. Newsflash-that’s their home. I have names for all the wildlife at my work location. I will protect them. Even the bird that pooped on my lip.” Ducks! Other topics that were mentioned by numerous readers included influencers, pin traders, “most expensive day ever” shirts, guests who loudly recite preshow or ride dialogue, queue jumpers, Crocs, and guests who engage in “Pixie-Dusting” — AKA the act of gifting other guests small trinkets, etc. Hey Eeyore! Let’s wrap up with reader Bridget, who took a different tack, writing, “I love it all! I like everyone to have their own fun as long as their fun doesn’t interfere with mine.” ©Disney These are just some of the literal thousands of responses we received.
