  2. It’s the ciiiiiircle of liiiiiife! Festival of the Lion King If that gets you in the mood, you might be a Lion King fan, and we’re with you. To us, it’s not a day in Animal Kingdom without visiting Festival of the Lion King, which is one of our favorite shows across all of Disney World. Disney just filed a new permit for the show, and it could mean construction, refurbishments, or changes are on the way. Disney has filed a permit for the Lion King Theater to “provide labor, material, and/or electrical for construction.” Beautiful! Disney hasn’t announced any changes or closures to the Festival of the Lion King, so it’s possible the work is being done at night after the park closes or in backstage areas. The theater is pretty big once you consider the stage and audience areas, backstage where they keep the floats and all the room for the performers. A Celebration of the Festival of the Lion King Animal Kingdom is currently undergoing a major transformation to welcome the Tropical Americas. Pueblo Esperanza will be home to three attractions and will take over DinoLand U.S.A. The Casita ©Disney You’ll finally be able to enter Casita and join the magical world of Encanto for the first time. The ride takes place during Antonio’s gift day, so you’ll get to see tons of animals and the whole family. ©Disney Indiana Jones is finally joining the East Coast, too! It will take over the DINOSAUR ride and will be a whole new storyline featuring snakes! Why does it always have to be snakes? SNAKES! Don’t forget about the carousel! The animal carousel is packed with different characters, and we can’t wait to find the best one. ©Disney Pueblo Esperanza is opening in 2027, and we’re pretty excited. Since Disney hasn’t announced anything for the Festival of the Lion King, we’ll keep an eye out for any changes hitting the theater. Make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more news, along with tips and tricks to make your upcoming Disney World trip the best one yet. YIKES. 3. We’re only about a week away from the rest of The Walt Disney Studios opening in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and we can’t wait to see The Magic of Disney Animation with our own eyes. Pua and Thumper in Walt Disney Studios Courtyard However, part of The Walt Disney Studios opened earlier this year, and we’ve noticed that Disney doesn’t seem to be completely finished with this part of the project yet either. That’s because we recently discovered something NEW in the outdoor courtyard of the new area: MORE animals have appeared! One of the things we love the most about The Walt Disney Studios is all the figures of Disney animals you can find scattered throughout the courtyard. We’ve seen Lucifer, Zazu, Pua, Thumper, and more. Now, though, even MORE animal figures have popped up, including Little Brother from Mulan. Talk about a rare character sighting! Little Brother! Mulan even stopped by to give him a scratch behind his ear. Awwww! We also spotted Oliver and Dodger from Oliver & Co. seriously eyeing a hot dog. Oliver and Dodger You’ll even see Meeko from Pocahontas enjoying a box of classic Disney popcorn (same, Meeko, same). Meeko munching on the popcorn! It’s these little details that really make this courtyard so fun to visit. You never know who you’re going to run into. But of course, we’re even more excited that The Magic of Disney Animation part of this area, is set to open September 14th. This will be in the building that once housed Star Wars Launch Bay. Now it’s been converted into a replica of Roy E. Disney Animation Building at The Walt Disney Studios headquarters in Burbank. The Magic of Disney Animation The Magic of Disney Animation will be a fun take on Disney’s Animation Headquarters, and you’re sure to spot some familiar characters because the idea is that the characters have come to life while the animators have stepped away. If you’ve seen Disney’s Once Upon a Studio short, it’s something like that. ©Disney New attractions are coming to the space, too, including Olaf Draws, an interactive drawing experience hosted by Olaf, as well as Disney character greetings at Off The Page. The area will also feature the Drawn to Wonderland playground, which is inspired by the concept art Mary Blair created for Alice in Wonderland. You’ll also be able to watch Once Upon a Studio in the Once Upon a Studio Theater. ©Disney We’ll be keeping an eye out for more updates at The Walt Disney Studios, and we’ll be there when The Magic of Disney Animation opens, so stay tuned to DFB for more. 4. Monsters, get your hard hats! Construction is well underway in Hollywood Studios, and we have been following the creation of this new land every step of the way. ©bioreconstruct Monstropolis is slowly coming to life, and we couldn’t be more excited. Thanks to @bioreconstruct, we have a new point of view on the changes going on with this major construction project! It’s been a years-long project, and so far, we’re still seeing tons and tons of dirt! Disney has slowly been bringing the world of Monsters, Inc. to life for a while now, and we are realy starting to see things take shape. ©bioreconstruct At the entrance of the land, the monster teeth have become even more noticeable! Disney has also started putting up the sides of the entrance archways. ©bioreconstruct You can see the archways in the concept art right here. Eventually, they will feature more detailing, monster-like gargoyles, and even more pointy teeth. Between the two archways, there will be a Monstopolis icon on the ground welcoming people into the land. ©Disney On the right side of the land, the Glob Theater is slowly coming to life, which will be the home of the “Welcome to Monstropolis Show.” In front of the theater, you can also see how Disney is laying the pipework for the fountain that will be at the front of the land. Sadly, this fountain will be replacing the Miss Piggy Fountain, which we will never forget. The fountain’s location is clearly carved out in the ground! ©bioreconstruct In the back of the land, the massive building that will be home to the main attraction in the land is growing quickly! The coaster will be Disney’s very first suspended coaster, which will take guests straight into the movie. ©bioreconstruct The show building is located in what was once a Cast Parking lot. If you look closely at the construction vehicles at the site, you can tell how big the area really is! ©bioreconstruct If you look really closely, you can see archways coming to life inside the building. This framework has us really intrigued! To the right, you can see track supports that have been installed. The tallest are for a swoop of ride routing through this space. The lower supports are believed to be for unloading the trains. The ride will also feature high ceilings which you can see coming to life. ©bioreconstruct Behind the site, you can also see the pieces of the coaster’s track laid out. At D23 in 2026, Disney confirmed the coaster will lift riders 40 feet into the air in 4 seconds to kick off the ride! ©bioreconstruct Previously, we saw the chopsticks of Harryhausen’s coming to life, which will be the table-service restaurant in the land. Since then, Disney gave us a sneak peek at what’s coming to the restaurant. The most notable part is easily that incredible animatronic of the head chef himself! The chopsticks! It has been so exciting seeing the entire land come to life over the course of the last several years since it was first announced in 2024. Currently, the land will open in phases starting in 2027. The land will open next year, but the main coaster will open at a later date. Be sure to keep following DisneyFoodBlog for more news, updates, and more! 7. This Disney World restaurant finally has a reopening date! Coral Reef Restaurant There are tons and tons of Disney World restaurants, and not only do we keep track of all of them to see new menus, openings, closures, renovations, and more, but we have also eaten at every single one. Yep, we’ve eaten at all Disney World restaurants, so when we share food reviews, you know it can be trusted. Well, one of the restaurants we feel… a bit conflicted about… finally has a reopening date in EPCOT, the mecca of Disney World food. Coral Reef Restaurant is closing on September 8th and is currently showing reservations for November 4th. It’s closing for planned maintenance and refurbishment, and the ability to book reservations in November is a great sign that it will open in just a few months. Coral Reef Restaurant Now, why do we have mixed feelings on Coral Reef? Well, one of the neat things is that it’s completely surrounded by aquarium walls, and you can watch tons of fish and sea creatures while you’re enjoying your meal — your meal of seafood. Some members of our team feel a bit weird eating fish in front of fish, and you know, it’s not for everyone. Aquarium walls The restaurant is attached to Sea Base, the massive aquarium in The Seas in EPCOT. The whole restaurant is dark, with an under-the-sea theme, and it can almost feel a little hidden. Coral Reef Restaurant We’ve tried a lot of different meals here throughout the years, and not every dish has been a winner. We generally find the meals to be just okay, not dishes we completely rave about, seafood or otherwise. Coral Reef Coconut Fried Shrimp and Chicken Wings Should this restaurant be completely off your list? Nope! We find that there are restaurants for everyone, and if you’re looking for a quieter, darker, and more relaxing restaurant to escape to in the middle of your EPCOT day, this might be a great fit. If you have aquarium lovers, they might enjoy staring at all the creatures during the meal, too. It’s also great if you’re looking for dishes that you’re likely familiar with and want something consistent. Coral Reef We’ll be keeping an eye out for a new menu at the restaurant and whether the refurbishment is worth another visit. In the meantime, make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more Disney news you need to know before your next vacation. 8. Get ready for even more Disney World changes! Lately, Disney World feels like a never-ending sea of change, which can sometimes be fun and sometimes sad. Walt Disney Studios — Animation Building We’ve lost some iconic attractions, but we’ve also gained some seriously exciting new additions to the parks. Now, over in Hollywood Studios, even more changes are on the horizon, and they kick off VERY soon. Get your pencils, animators! The Magic of Disney Animation is only one week away from opening. The newest Hollywood Studios expansion officially opens on September 14th, and there will be quite a bit to see and do. The new expansion is located in the spot that was previously home to Star Wars: Launch Bay! The Magic of Disney Animation sign! Inside, you get to step into the Disney Animation building when the animators have stepped away, and magic comes to life. The experience is inspired by the Disney short “Once Upon A Studio,” which we highly encourage you to check out if you haven’t seen it before! It’s online and on Disney+. The Magic of Disney Animation will include 4 distinct areas for guests to explore. ©Disney Olaf Draws will be an animation class where an animatronic Olaf and a Disney animator teach you how to draw classic Disney characters. The animator will be on a screen (so no live animators), and you can draw characters like: Mickey Mouse, with Dan Abraham, director (Once Upon A Studio, Baymax!) Minnie Mouse, with Hyun Min Lee, animator (Frozen 2, The Princess and the Frog) Donald Duck, with Austin Traylor, animator (Once Upon A Studio, Moana 2) Genie, with Eric Goldberg, animator (Aladdin, Hercules) Moana, with Samantha Vilfort, story artist (Encanto, Zootopia 2) Stitch, with Fawn Veerasunthorn, director and head of story (Wish, Raya and the Last Dragon) Olaf, with Trent Correy, director (Once Upon A Studio, Frozen 3) Ursula, with Michael Woodside, animator (Big Hero 6, Encanto) Judy Hopps & Nick Wilde, with Byron Howard, director (Zootopia, Zootopia 2) ©Disney Guests can also meet Disney characters in “Off The Page”. This area of the new expansion will have different Disney characters across six departments, including Story, Layout, Hand-Drawn Animation, Computer Animation, Lighting, and Effects. The characters include: Mulan in Story (posing in front of an oversized storyboard panel) Rapunzel in Layout ( in “a setting inspired by the classic multiplane camera”) Chip n’ Dale in Hand-Drawn Animation Donald and Daisy in CG Animation Goofy in Lighting Stitch in Effects ©Disney Don’t forget about the Drawn to Wonderland playground! This playground is inspired by Mary Blair’s artwork for Alice in Wonderland, so even the youngest members of the family can have a place to explore. Disney has shared some sneak peeks of the area and confirmed it will include an “oversized flower garden with musical instruments, a Mad Tea Party playset, and a Tugley Wood exploration area.” Drawn to Wonderland Playground Concept Art ©Disney Finally, guests can explore the Once Upon A Studio Theater, which will show the Emmy Award-winning short film Once Upon A Studio. You know, the short that inspired this entire area? Disney also shared that the theater will have “enhanced effects” to “add an extra layer of magic.” They teased that “you may spot characters popping up within the artwork along the theater walls, placing you right in the middle of this enchanting story.” ©Disney This new section of the park is the second half of the phased opening for the Walt Disney Studios, a new land in Hollywood Studios. The first section of this land opened in May 2026 for guests to explore. We can’t wait to explore it all once it finally opens next week! 9. A lot of Disney fans aren’t gonna be happy about this… Indiana Jones Adventure The Disneyland Resort is no stranger to construction and refurbishment projects. Over at Disneyland Park, the rides are generally well-maintained, but they sometimes need lengthy refurbishments to ensure everything runs properly. Those refurbishment projects sometimes include some of the park’s most popular attractions — one of which might be closed well into the fall. Per the Disneyland closure calendar, the Indiana Jones Adventure thrill ride will close on September 8th, 2026, for refurbishment — and no reopening date has been announced as of this writing. Indiana Jones Adventure Indiana Jones Adventure is no stranger to closures. This ride is among the pantheon of best Disney Parks attractions thanks in part to its innovative ride system, exciting audio-animatronics, and immersive special effects. However, because the ride is technically complicated, it does often run into issues. ©Disney Daily stalls are common, and Disney must work extra hard to ensure the ride is at least operating in B-mode. The attraction itself features pyrotechnics, literal moving rooms, and a rolling boulder that is on a path to crushing jeeps. It’s really amazing when it works — but routine refurbishments are required to ensure that happens. Indiana Jones Adventure ride vehicles Currently, the Disneyland schedule shows the ride closed through October 15th — which is as far out as the calendar goes when this was written. Essentially, that means the ride’s reopening date isn’t ready to be revealed. It could be closed throughout October, or open on short notice at any moment. This is not uncommon for Disneyland’s bigger refurbishment projects, but they usually give a few days’ notice, so we can let you know that specific reopening date as soon as it’s announced. 10. We’re sorry to remind you of this sad news out of Disney Springs, but it’s still so shocking to us that we’ve had to force ourselves to remember that it’s happening. Burger from Wolfgang Puck’s Just over a week ago, a rumor began flying that a popular Disney Springs restaurant would be closing permanently, seemingly out of nowhere. We went to go check it out ourselves, and sure enough, it was proven to be true. If you want to eat at Wolfgang Puck’s, you’ve got less than a week left to do so. Wolfgang Puck’s is located in the Town Center part of Disney Springs and will be closing permanently on September 13th. The Disney World website currently doesn’t allow guests to make reservations past September 13th. Disney has yet to announce why the restaurant is closing or what will take its place. Wolfgang Puck’s Tons of frequent Disney-goers love this spot and are sad to see it go, ourselves included. The restaurant originated in California and is known for its American dishes with Mediterranean influences and innovative takes on classic comfort food. The loss of this spot means we’ll be losing one of the true brunch spots available in the shopping and dining district, which is beyond unfortunate. The restaurant is moderately priced, with most meals costing between $15 and $35. In the past, we’ve been big fans of the Bruschetta, Traditional Fettuccine Alfredo, and the Giant Warm Chocolate Chip Cookie is a dessert we’ll be mourning for a long time. 13. Y’all…we’ve been eating REALLY well in Disney World this week, and you know how happy that makes us. First, pumpkin spice latte season is BACK at Starbucks, but what we really loved this year was the Iced Banana Bread Latte. Then we got to dig into some spooky-themed food and drinks at The Great Hooley at Raglan Road. And, of course, we indulged in another cake slice from The Cake Bake Shop. And did we mention we drank a wine slushy flight? Iced Banana Bread Latte And we’re not even full! 14. There are so many sweet treat options in Disney Springs, but we always find ourselves back at Everglazed Donuts and Cold Brew. Whether you’re looking for a cereal donut or a Taylor Swift donut, Everglazed has basically done it all! Apple Streusel Donut Everglazed has come up with some unique flavor combos over the years, but this one made us RUN to Disney Springs at full speed. If you ever wanted a pie-flavored donut, Everglazed just made your dream come true! First, we got the Apple Streusel Donut for $6.95. This is a caramel-iced donut with apple pie filling, streusel, and caramel buttercream. Apple Streusel Donut The donut is soft and fluffy, the streusel is crispy, and the apple filling has those warm cinnamon-and-spice flavors you’d find in apple pie. The caramel icing was super strong, and this tasted more like a caramel apple than apple pie to us, but it’s still SO good! Apple Streusel Donut Next up was the Blueberry Maple Donut for $6.95. It’s a maple-iced donut with blueberry filling, maple streusel, and blueberry buttercream. Blueberry Maple Donut The donut had a soft interior and a crispy exterior that made for a super satisfying bite. The blueberry taste was much stronger than the apple, but it was slightly artificial-tasting. The maple syrup and maple streusel added a strong maple flavor that tasted like blueberry pancakes in donut form! Blueberry Maple Donut We’d recommend these donuts to sweet treat lovers wanting some fall-inspired fruity flavors. Stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for more Disney Springs food recommendations! 17. There are so many different snacks, drinks, and exciting menu items to try across Disney World that it can be very overwhelming to know what you should try on your next visit. EPCOT Especially in a park like EPCOT, which is known for amazing food and drinks. Which is why we make sure to bring you full reviews of everything we try so you know exactly what’s worth grabbing, and we just tried a very unique drink in EPCOT. On our last visit to EPCOT, we took a trip to Kabuki Cafe, a quick-service kiosk in the Japan Pavilion, to try the Kirin Frozen for $13. This is a Kirin draft beer served with a thick layer of frozen foam on top. Kirin Frozen The foam initially looked like soft serve but had a lighter and frothier texture, and melted very quickly in the Florida heat, so make sure to have napkins ready if you try this one. The beer itself was bitter and slightly earthy with a subtle pine note. Kirin Frozen It leaned slightly more bitter and beer-forward rather than fruity or sweet. The frozen foam kept the beer very cold even after sitting in the Florida heat for a while, which made it very refreshing on a hot day. If you prefer sweet drinks, then you probably should skip this one, but if you love more bitter, earthy flavors or want an ice-cold beer, then this is an amazing, fun option to try! 21. Disney World is FULL of construction projects! Throughout all of the parks, you are constantly facing construction walls, closures, and more as Disney brings many new projects to life. Brown Derby Lounge Reopened And while we are thrilled that we are getting new rides, lands, and experiences, the construction can be a lot. Which is why we are thrilled that one construction project in Hollywood Studios finally wrapped up! That’s right, the popular Hollywood Brown Derby Lounge is officially back open in Hollywood Studios! Brown Derby Lounge This outdoor patio space closed several months ago, back in early July. Although the lounge was still open, it was moved to the courtyard beside the building. The Hollywood Brown Derby Lounge temporary location The Brown Derby Lounge allows guests the opportunity to grab some of the amazing food and drinks from the iconic Brown Derby restaurant without needing an advance reservation. You can just walk up to the lounge and enjoy some eats and drinks in the lovely outdoor area. And while we are happy this space did not close completely, we have to say we are thrilled that the original patio area is open once again! NEW MENU REVEALED for Magic Kingdom Restaurant A Popular EPCOT Ride Finally Changed Finally, a popular EPCOT ride debuted some new changes this week that we’ve been waiting almost a year for. Last October, Disney announced that Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure would be getting some new props inside the attraction. We checked weekly for nearly a year, and even spotted a new permit for the changes in May 2026. Well, Disney has finally delivered! Practical props! Two scenes changed on the attraction. In one scene, guests can now see a giant box of spilled pasta on the ground if you keep your eyes peeled! Can you see it? In the final scene, Disney added a giant charcuterie board with cheese and more practical props like a cork. The new changes help to cut down on some of the dead space on the attraction and make it slightly more immersive. Look at the cheese! These props are in addition to other changes at the ride, including the switch from 3D to 2D back in November. Several fans have found that this makes the experience less nauseating if you’re prone to motion sickness. Was A Year Worth The Wait? A Popular EPCOT Ride Has CHANGED This week was full of menus, changes, and more exciting switches in Walt Disney World. What else could they announce next? 23. Okay, so there is no shortage of fun Halloween events in the Orlando area, and we try to go to them all when we can. Of course, you’ve got Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in Disney World, as well as Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando. Then there’s Howl-O-Scream at SeaWorld Orlando. Brick or Treat But you’ve also got LEGOLAND’s Brick or Treat, and we’ve been going for a few years now, and we’re so ready to jump back into the spooky LEGO action and bring you along with us. So let’s go! The Basics LEGOLAND Brick or Treat is happening on select dates at LEGOLAND Florida from September 1st through November 1st. Here are the dates for this year’s Brick or Treat: September 19th and 26th October 3rd, 4th, 10th, 11th, 17th, 18th, 24th, 25th, 31st November 1st What makes this event so unique is that you don’t have to buy a separate ticket to experience it: just a regular ticket to LEGOLAND gets you access to all the Halloween fun, too. Tickets start at $89 for adults and $39 for kids. Brick or Treat Decor LEGOLAND is decked out for the spooky holiday with loads of Halloween decorations and special builds. Spooky decor around the park! Entertainment There is a ton of specialty entertainment you can find at this event! Here is everything you can experience during Brick or Treat: Zombie Cheer Crew, where you can try out for the cheer team with Zombie Cheerleader and her crew. The Monster Rockoff is a concert with LEGO Monster characters playing iconic rock ‘n’ roll hits. In Once Upon A Brick — The Tale of the Wolf Guy, you’ll learn the story behind one of LEGOLAND’s monsters. The Skeleton Brass Band is sure to liven up your bones. Beastly Brick Beatz, where you can join LEGO’s monsters for a dance party. Kids and groups can even participate in a costume contest (yep, you can come to the park in a costume). Don’t forget to snag your event map so you can find out when all the entertainment is happening! Characters Brick or Treat also gives you a chance to meet some of LEGOLAND’s spookier characters, like Spider Lady, Mummy, Monster Scientist, Monster Rocker, Tiger Woman, LEGO Skeleton Guy, and LEGO Wacky Witch. Wacky Witch Trick-or-Treating Candy stations are located across LEGOLAND, so you can go trick-or-treating, too. It’s time to load up those bags with candy! Candy! This year, the new Brick or Treat Street offers an interactive trick-or-treat experience with six life-sized LEGO Monster homes. According to LEGOLAND, here you’ll “find out who lives on the street and what tricks, bricks, and treats are in store!” Brick or Treat Street Brick or Treat Street is a small group of trick-or-treating experiences where guests will navigate through six houses belonging to some of the spooky characters you can find around the event. Throughout, you will either get tricked or get a treat. Brick or Treat Street This experience was super cute, interactive, and everyone walked out with a small bag of treats. Although we did end up waiting almost an hour for this experience, which we think might be a little too long, kids will definitely love Brick or Treat Street! Brick or Treat Street Exclusive food and drinks Of course, you can’t have a Halloween party without exclusive food and drinks. We tried two Halloween treats on our visit, starting with the Loaded Monster Fries for $19.49. These are fries covered in pulled pork, melted cheese, roasted corn, crispy onions, and a black garlic aïoli. Monster Loaded Fries When they say loaded, they mean loaded! The fries themselves are almost like big chunks of potatoes, which were incredibly well fried and a great vessel for all of the toppings. The pulled pork was super smoky, tender, and really delicious. The melted cheddar cheese was creamy and added an amazing flavor, while the roasted corn was a great addition as well. The black garlic aïoli was the most interesting flavor and tasted caramelized and earthy, and really helped enhance all of the other flavors. Monster Loaded Fries The crispy onions were delicious and added a nice crunchy finish. The vessel that this comes in is really cool because it’s a little zombie LEGO head, but it does make it difficult to get the toppings to the bottom. While this item is pretty expensive because of the souvenir zombie head, it was absolutely delicious! Monster Loaded Fries We also tried the Broomstick Berry Shake for $14.89. This is a shake with vanilla soft serve, blueberry compote, and pieces of cheesecake. Broomstick Berry Shake There was so much blueberry flavor in this shake, although it was not overly sweet. This was a hand-spun milkshake, so it was super creamy, and the use of vanilla soft serve acted as a great base with the blueberry compote. There were also little pieces of cheesecake on top of the shake, which was the only place you get that cheesecake flavor. So really, this tasted like a blueberry ice cream shake with a garnish of cheesecake, but we aren’t complaining! Broomstick Berry Shake Overall, if you are a blueberry fan, you will love this! It was so delicious, fresh, and did not taste artificial at all because of that great tart blueberry compote. We would definitely grab this one again! Broomstick Berry Shake Rides Of course, you’ll be able to ride attractions, too, and one is even getting a special Halloween overlay. Enjoy Halloween Spaceship Elements on Galacticoaster for a limited time. You’ll be able to select elements inspired by the LEGO Monsters Fighters theme, previous Halloween LEGO sets, and a classic Jack-O-Lantern hood ornament! The Galacticoaster The Dragon Roarsome is also getting a Halloween makeover for the season, and you’ll have to brave your way through ghosts, spiders, and bats! You can also take a dizzying ride at The Department of Monster Vehicles, take a Ghost Cruise, and more. Overall We really love this event and think it is an amazing way to bring some Halloween fun into guests’ day at LEGOLAND. It is so fun to walk around and find Halloween experiences throughout the park. We also found that all the activities and experiences were very age-appropriate for the core audience of LEGOLAND. We also loved that the trick-or-treat stations were included in your regular admission ticket with no age restriction, so the whole family can participate. Brick or Treat The new Brick or Treat Street was original, fun, and a really great addition to the event. We did notice that many of the events and entertainment did happen in the late afternoon and evening, so if you aren’t planning on spending the whole day in the park, we would suggest coming in a little later so you don’t miss any of the fun! Our biggest complaint with the event was that the special food and drink offerings did seem to be on the pricier side, so that is something to keep in mind when planning your trip. Fun spooky decor! 24. Downtown Disney at Disneyland Resort has so many places to eat that it’s easy to pass by some hidden gems, but that’s what we’re here for! Naples Ristorante E Bar We recently stopped by Naples Ristorante E Bar at the Downtown Disney District because we heard of a new treat for spooky season. Is this something worth going out of your way for this fall? Well, there’s only one way to find out! If you head to Naples Ristorante E Bar, you can grab the Pumpkin Blood-Scotch Cannoli for $12. The cannoli is filled with pumpkin and butterscotch chip cream, topped with whipped cream, red caramel drizzle, and a sugar knife. Pumpkin Blood-Scotch Cannoli This treat is very pumpkin-forward and very crispy. It should be eaten with your hands, but the drizzle prevents that. The dough is butterscotch-infused and has a coffee-like flavor about it. The cream is light and fluffy, and we feel like the butterscotch and pumpkin each take turns being the star. Pumpkin Blood-Scotch Cannoli The chips add a surprising crunch on the inside. The whipped cream is light with hints of those “fall” tones, but the drizzle is not nearly as subtle. It’s a red caramel, and it’s sweet. It can be overpowering at times, and we think pulling back just a tad might’ve made this even better. Pumpkin Blood-Scotch Cannoli The sugar knife is just sugar-tasting and the definition of inoffensive. It’s sweet yet bland, but it’ll get covered in everything else anyway Look at the sugar knife! We don’t think kids will like this, but fans of fall flavors like butterscotch and pumpkin should be appeased by this. We think it’s reliably solid, and the fact that you get two makes this a fair value. It is really messy to eat, so we would be aware of that. This was good! 26. There are 83 priced dishes on this year’s EPCOT Food and Wine Festival menu right now, and if you wanted to order one of every single one, you’d be looking at a grand total of $585. Spain Full Spread Obviously nobody is walking World Showcase with that kind of budget (or that kind of stomach capacity), so instead of eating everything (like us — hey, it was research!), we figured out exactly which dishes are worth your money this year. Here’s our running Best of the Fest list, straight from our own reviews. There is a caveat here. Some of the festival booths are not opening until later in the festival so those are not yet included in this. Of course, when they do open, DFB will be there to try those dishes out and give you our honest reviews. Paleta de Moras — Mexico The new Paleta de Moras runs $7.00 — a Berry Ice Pop filled with Sweetened Condensed Milk and topped with Chili-Lime Seasoning. The berries were fresh, and this was so refreshing. It tasted more like natural fruit rather than a ton of sugar, which we really appreciated, and the seasoning on top created the most interesting flavor combo that was SO delicious. The most interesting part had to be the condensed milk in the center, which was so creamy and made this more fun than a normal popsicle. Paleta de Moras Croquetas de Jamón — Spain We grabbed the new Croquetas de Jamón made with saffron aïoli and shaved Jamón Serrano for $6.99, and these are so dang good we’re going to need two servings. The breading on the outside is seasoned perfectly, with a great, crispy exterior. The inside had a balance of cheese and ham and was absolutely creamy, with just enough acid to bring down the richness. Microgreens add a nice herbaceous element. Completely out of this world. Croquetas de Jamón Chocolate-Pistachio Cookie — Tangierine Cafe Wrap up your meal with the new Chocolate-Pistachio Cookie for $4.29 — basically a Dubai chocolate bar in cookie form. The center has a crunchy pistachio cream that’s salty and nutty, giving an amazing contrast against the sweet chocolate cookie. The cookie itself is soft, with pistachio pieces adding crunch and a strong pistachio flavor coming through from the filling. A must-try if you love pistachio — just grab some napkins, because it’s messy. Chocolate-Pistachio Cookie Seoul, South Korea: Bo Ssam Pork Poutine — La Poutinerie The specialty item at La Poutinerie is the brand-new Seoul, South Korea Bo Ssam Pork Poutine — French Fries, Cheese Curds, Bo Ssam Pork, Gochujang Gravy, Kimchi Pickles, Aïoli, and Sesame for $11.99. This was absolutely delicious. The sauce is fairly spicy, but mixed with everything else in the poutine, it isn’t overly spicy — the creamy white sauce and the cheese curds dial the heat back to create an awesome balance and a pleasant, peppery spice. Seoul, South Korea Bo Ssam Pork Poutine Basil Pesto Chicken Dumplings — Gyozas of the Galaxy The Basil Pesto Chicken Dumplings — Chicken Dumplings with Basil Pesto, Fonduta, Tomato Confit, and Balsamic for $5.99 — are firm with a strong bite. The basil pesto gives the chicken a slight earthy tone and balances out the dish, but it’s the fonduta that really takes this away, coating the dumplings in a rich, cheesy flavor. If you don’t like tomatoes, don’t fear this dish — you can barely taste them, and they mostly add to the firm texture and a little sweetness. Basil Pesto Chicken Dumplings Wiener Schnitzel — Germany The brand-new Wiener Schnitzel — a breaded veal cutlet featuring HEINZ Brauhaus Mustard, Warm Yukon Gold Potato Salad, Bacon, Watercress-Radish Salad, and Lemon for $7.29 — was absolutely incredible. It was so crispy and thin, and the veal was not dry at all. The mustard was super tangy and flavorful, adding the perfect kick without overwhelming the dish, and the light salad complemented the heaviness really well. The potatoes were soft without being mushy. One of our favorite items we tried all day. Wiener Schnitzel Caramel-Apple Cheesecake Baumkuchen — Connections Eatery The new Caramel-Apple Cheesecake Baumkuchen at Connections Eatery is $6.49, and it was hands-down one of the best things we tried at the festival. It tasted like a cake your grandma would make, with caramel apple thrown in the middle and topped with whipped cream — more of a fluffy, thick, vanilla layer cake than anything cheesecake-like. It’s pretty filling, but really good. Caramel-Apple Cheesecake Baumkuchen Brioche aux Épices Avec Une Garniture Mornay de Trois Fromages — France This spiced brioche with a three-cheese mornay filling is returning this year for $8.95. The brioche was extremely soft and fluffy, and the spice from both the brioche and the cheese made it feel like a higher-quality item. The cheese was super creamy and almost reminded us of the beloved Cheddar Bacon Soup in Canada. The ratio of cheese to bread is absolutely worth it. Brioche aux Epices Avec Une Garniture Mornay de Trois Fromages Pumpkin Mascarpone Ravioli — Forest & Field Returning to Forest & Field is the Pumpkin-Mascarpone Ravioli with brown butter vinaigrette, pecorino cheese, pomegranate seeds, and hazelnut praline — part of Emile’s Fromage Montage, for $5.49. Just like last year, we found these incredibly tender, with some nice caramelization from the butter topping. The ravioli is very soft and savory, which makes it satisfying to eat. Be sure to get some cheese and pomegranate in every bite — it’s absolutely a Best of the Fest pick. Pumpkin-Mascarpone Ravioli Pão de Queijo — Brazil We knew this one wasn’t going anywhere. The Pão de Queijo, or Brazilian Cheese Bread, returns for $5.19 — a 30th Anniversary Legacy Item that also counts toward Emile’s Fromage Montage. It’s just as wonderful as always: fluffy, cheesy, gooey deliciousness wrapped up in a bite-sized treat. This is a Best of the Fest dish for us, year after year. We’re obsessed with it. Pão de Queijo Freshly Baked Carrot Cake — Milled & Mulled The Freshly Baked Carrot Cake with walnuts and cream cheese icing has had a few different homes at the festival over the years, but no matter where it lands, it usually winds up on our Best of the Fest list. This year it’s at Milled and Mulled for only $4.99. The cake is so moist, with the perfect amount of walnuts and carrot pieces — not so much that it affects the texture. The glaze on top is perfectly sweet without the cake itself being overwhelming. A must-do for anyone who loves carrot cake. Freshly Baked Carrot Cake Teriyaki Chicken Bun — Japan The returning Teriyaki Chicken Bun — a steamed bun filled with minced chicken, vegetables, and teriyaki sauce for $8.00 — is the most palate-friendly pick on this list, great for anyone looking for familiar flavors. The inside is flavorful and savory, and the bun is as soft as a cloud. Teriyaki Chicken Bun Smoked Corned Beef — Flavors from Fire Returning to Flavors from Fire is the Smoked Corned Beef with house-made potato chips, cheese curds, pickled onions, and beer cheese fondue for $6.49. This tends to be a festival favorite, and it’s still impressive this year: tender, flavorful corned beef atop house-made potato chips with a subtle hint of barbecue. Pickled onions and cheese curds add extra texture, while a drizzle of beer cheese fondue ties it all together — an indulgent, loaded bite that’s rich and satisfying without feeling overwhelming. Smoked Corned Beef Roasted Lamb Chop — Australia The Roasted Lamb Chop with Mint Pesto and Crushed Salt and Vinegar Potato Chips costs $8.79 this year. Yes, those are crushed salt and vinegar potato chips on a lamb chop, and yes, they work ridiculously well. Our chop was thick and juicy, with the chips bringing crunch, salt, and a sharp vinegar tang, while the mint pesto added a fresh herbal note that kept the whole thing from getting too heavy. This dish has landed on our Best of the Fest lists in previous years too, and it’s a must-order again. Roasted Lamb Chop Cheddar and Bacon Soup — Canada The Cheddar and Bacon Soup, a longtime favorite and Festival Legacy Item, is $6.29 and comes with a Pretzel Roll. It’s that classic soup with a smoky bacon flavor and lots of creamy, cheesy deliciousness — all the cheese. The pretzel roll can run a little tough, but dipped in the soup, it’s perfect. Cheddar and Bacon Soup Canadian Filet Mignon — Canada One of this year’s Legacy Items, the Filet Mignon with Mushrooms and Mashed Potatoes is $10.49 — one of the pricier items at the festival, and worth knowing it’s eligible for a Disney Dining Plan snack credit, like the Cheddar and Bacon Soup. The filet is delicious as always, with a ton of flavor and a lovely crust, though ours came out medium-rare, so order accordingly if you like your meat more done. The mushrooms are a nice addition, and the mashed potatoes are flavorful, well-seasoned, and creamy. The Filet Mignon Schinkennudeln — Germany The Schinkennudeln is back this year for $5.29 — a pasta gratin with ham, onions, and cheese, and both a 30th Anniversary item and part of Emile’s Fromage Montage. This year it’s really good: the noodles are cooked well and absorb all of the creamy, cheesy flavor, and there’s so much cheese on top that it melts into the whole dish. The ham’s flavor is a bit hidden behind all that cheese, but when you do taste it, it adds a nice saltiness. Schinkennudeln South African Cream Liqueur Chocolate Mousse — Refreshment Outpost The South African Cream Liqueur Chocolate Mousse returns for $6.29 — this year’s version is covered in white chocolate ganache and garnished with chocolate-covered popping candy. There’s a lot of chocolate going on here: the popping candy surprised us with how much it popped and how long the popping lasted, the bottom is like a soft chocolate cookie, and it’s all topped with a moist chocolate cake. A dream for chocolate lovers craving a lighter dessert — a good size, but it doesn’t feel too heavy. South African Cream Liqueur Chocolate Mousse Slow-roasted Pork Slider — Hawai’i The Slow-roasted Pork Slider with sweet-and-sour chutney featuring DOLE Pineapple and spicy mayonnaise has been a festival staple for years, and it’s back as a 30th Anniversary Legacy Item for $5.99. The pork is tender and juicy, packed with good flavor. The spicy mayonnaise isn’t spicy at all, but it elevates the flavor, and the sweet-and-sour pineapple chutney adds a bit of sweetness we really loved. Slow-roasted Pork Slider Hawaiian Rice Bowl — Hawai’i We also grabbed the Hawaiian Rice Bowl — Spam, eggs, eel sauce, spicy mayonnaise, and furikake — for $6.29. This was one of our favorites last year too, with flavors that balance perfectly. We usually don’t love Spam, but we look forward to this dish every festival. The spicy mayo isn’t overly spicy, and the eel sauce isn’t overly fishy. There’s good texture and crunch throughout, and for the price, it’s a genuinely filling, great-value bowl. Hawaiian Rice Bowl Basque Cheesecake — Spain The returning Basque Cheesecake, plated with orange sauce, is $5.29 and counts toward the Emile’s Fromage Montage Cheese Crawl. It’s just as good as ever — creamy, melts in your mouth, light and airy, with all the tart cheesecake flavor and none of the heaviness of a traditional slice. The texture is soft and pillowy, the orange sauce is full of citrus flavor, and every bite is as good as the first. You won’t want to share. Basque Cheesecake Now if you are looking to purchase one of everything on our Best of the Fest list, you are looking at $143 total (not including drinks of course).
