  4. Let’s be honest: if you want to visit Disney World or Disneyland, it’s going to cost you. A Disney vacation is NOT cheap. Magic Kingdom Now, we’ve seen a lot of Disney fans grumbling recently about the price of visiting the U.S. parks, particularly about how pricey tickets seem to be getting. Even former Disney CEO Michael Eisner has recently spoken about how expensive Disney Parks are. Now, it has seemed like Disney has responded with a lot of great summer offers for both tickets and hotel stays, but what exactly does Disney’s new CEO, Josh D’Amaro, have to say about ticket prices? D’Amaro recently spoke with shareholders at The Walt Disney Company’s annual shareholders meeting. During that call, someone asked how Disney balances revenue growth from park ticket pricing and attendance with maintaining positive guest satisfaction. ©Disney D’Amaro began answering that question by acknowledging that a Disney Park visit is a “meaningful investment” for families. He stressed that the company’s goal is that every guest feels that the experience they have is worth the price they paid for it. Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland Basically, it seems like he’s implying that he understands that a Disney park visit can be pricey, but that the company wants to continue to invest in the parks and their experiences to make sure that park ticket feels like it’s worth the high price. He even said that he wants every guest’s experience to be “the best day of a guest’s life,” and that’s how the company will measure its success. Bluey’s Best Day Ever D’Amaro also said that Disney looks at the guest experience ratings, as well as how likely a guest is intent on returning to the parks. He mentioned that those metrics are both very high across all parks. Basically, this is D’Amaro stating that he feels that guests feel as if the price of park tickets is worth the experiences they’re having in the parks. Tomorrowland in Magic Kingdom However, D’Amaro also said, “When it comes to how we think about pricing, what we try to do is focus on offering a wide range of options and different price points so that families can visit in ways that work for them, whether that’s during a value season or, you know, maybe taking advantage of multi-day ticket savings, or even taking advantage of special offers that we introduce from time to time.” So it seems like variable ticket pricing is here to stay, depending on when you visit the parks and how many days you buy a ticket for. Special offers will also still be made available. Spaceship Earth D’Amaro also pointed out some of the offers available right now, particularly for children. Disneyland currently has a kids’ ticket offer that lets kids visit the parks for $50 a day, which, according to D’Amaro, “is pretty good.” He also mentioned the kids’ free dining promotion at Disney World. Kids can get a free dining plan in Disney World D’Amaro ended his comments about ticket pricing by saying, “So what we try to do is provide a fair amount of choice and flexibility for our guests, while at the same time, making sure that we’re managing daily attendance and overall experience.” In other words, Disney is keeping an eye on the numbers to make sure that guests feel they’re getting their money’s worth. So as long as Disney Parks keep making the big $$$, ticket prices probably aren’t going to change. They’ll probably even increase every year, which has been standard practice for some time. Animal Kingdom entrance But it’s likely we’ll continue to see more offers for the parks throughout the year, including free dining plan promotions, discounts on hotel rooms, and other discounts. As always, we’ll keep an eye out for those deals and let you know when they’re available, so stay tuned to DFB for more. 6. Universal Orlando has had lots of ride closures lately, and this new closure might affect your spring break trip! SUPER NINTENDO WORLD Super Nintendo World is one of the most popular lands at Epic Universe, which is why you need to know about this! There’s only one thing we love more than theme parks – and that’s the food and drinks! We made a free map of the best drink options from Butterbeer to hidden gems at the best Universal park, Epic Universe. Universal quietly announced that Yoshi’s Adventure in Super Nintendo World will be closed from Tuesday, April 21st to Thursday, April 23rd, 2026. It will reopen on Friday, April 24th. This brief, scheduled maintenance is likely to fix minor technical issues and to improve guest flow and operational systems. Yoshi’s Adventure Yoshi’s Adventure briefly closed last month from February 24th to February 26th. While the three-day refurbishment was resolved on time, Yoshi’s Adventure is one of three rides available for small kids, and only one of two rides with wheelchair-accessible vehicles in Epic Universe. For families with young children or wheelchairs, Yoshi’s Adventure being closed regularly can impact their Epic Universe day. Yoshi’s Adventure If you’re headed to Epic Universe during the closure with kids, there are still some rides you can ride. We’d recommend checking out Constellation Carousel in Celestial Park for a kid-friendly and wheelchair accesible carousel ride. The How To Train Your Dragon water ride, Fyre Drill, also has no height requirement, but guests in wheelchairs will need to transfer. A popular ride for bigger kids is Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge, which has wheelchair-accessible vehicles, but this does have a height requirement of 42 inches. Super Nintendo World We love Epic Universe, but the new theme park has been plagued with ride closures lately. Stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for all the ride closures that can affect your theme park day! 2 NEW Ride Closures Announced for Universal Orlando Read more: DFB's complete guide to Universal’s Epic Universe >> Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! 7. Disney World hotels are supposed to be the “take a deep breath, kick off your shoes, and inhale the lobby scent” part of the vacation. You know, the oasis. The soft landing. The place where you refill your resort mug, dramatically flop onto the bed, and pretend you’re absolutely not going to mobile order a fourth snack before midnight. Polynesian Village Resort pool But as our readers reminded us, Disney World Resort hotels can also be the stage for some truly unhinged vacation moments. We asked the DFB community to tell us the most nightmarish thing they’ve ever seen at a Disney World hotel, and y’all did not hold back. The responses ranged from “ew, absolutely not” to “how did this become a full police situation?” to “this is why I wipe down every surface like I’m training for a sanitation Olympics.” And while some replies were more hilarious than horrifying, one theme came through loud and clear — a lot of the real “nightmares” at Disney hotels don’t come from the hotels themselves. They come from other guests, forgetting how to behave in public. Birdcage Bar on the right Case in point? One reader shared a poolside story from Coronado Springs that ended with this brutally efficient summary: “Disney is NOT a babysitter.” Whew. There it is. There’s the headline. There’s the sermon. There’s the embroidered pillow. The Real Nightmare? Other Guests. A surprising number of your responses had less to do with broken A/C units or creepy crawlies and more to do with people acting like the rules are for everyone else. There were readers who saw people arguing with lifeguards, which is already a sentence that should not need to exist on a Disney vacation. Another reader described an unsupervised child at the Polynesian’s club level lounge who licked a dessert and put it back, which is the kind of information that makes you reconsider every buffet decision you’ve ever made. And at Disney’s Contemporary, one guest watched a child go down the buffet line touching every single dish… and then do it all over again. Appetite? Gone. Vanished. Floated away like a Mickey balloon in a windstorm. A few of the offerings Then there were the pool stories, which were…a lot. One reader said her husband saved kids from drowning on two different trips. Another shared that lifeguards at Coronado had to stop a parent who appeared to be trying to leave while her small child was still at the pool. Another guest at the Grand Floridian said she had to tell someone to take their hands off her 5-year-old in the pool, and claimed the other adult’s friend said something so horrifying it gave her nightmares for weeks. Dig Site That’s the thing. Disney resort pools are fun. They’re also not free-range chaos zones. Lifeguards are there for safety, not for debates, not for side quests, and definitely not to parent kids whose grown-ups have mentally clocked out. Hygiene Horror Show Look. We need to talk about the deeply cursed category of responses that made us want to bleach our eyeballs. Because some of y’all have seen things. One reader said she opened the Murphy bed at Art of Animation and found the previous guest’s eyelashes stuck above the pillow. Another found hair left on the shower wall upon arrival. Someone else discovered a dirty diaper behind the bed. One guest said the toilet backup ended in the sink, which is not a plumbing plot twist anyone should ever have to process on vacation. Murphy bed And then there were the drawers. At the Grand Floridian, one reader reported finding “tons (10+) silverfish in the drawers.” Another guest at All-Star Sports said the drawers in their room reeked of MJ. Which, again, is not exactly the magical aroma Disney is bottling for the gift shop. Bugs also made multiple appearances in the replies. There were cockroaches. There were vague but terrifying “bugs in my room!” reports. There was even one reader who described seeing “some weird cockroach heaving, molting or something,” which is now a sentence I unfortunately know exists. Into the bathroom we go The good news is that in some of these cases, readers said Disney made it right with room moves, maintenance help, or compensation. The bad news is that once you’ve seen a bug do interpretive theater in your hotel room, that memory is not checking out when you do. Some Nightmares Were Just Pure Bad Luck Not every scary or stressful moment came from rude behavior. Some were just bad-luck vacation gremlins doing what they do best. One reader described a crack running across the ceiling at Pop Century with water dripping from it, though maintenance arrived quickly and fixed it. Another said lightning struck their building, knocking out power and A/C before they ultimately had to move rooms. Someone else recalled a leak so bad at Port Orleans that by the end of the stay, mushrooms were growing in the corner. Which is less “Disney resort” and more “haunted cottage in a cautionary fairy tale.” Port Orleans Riverside Room There were also wildlife encounters, because this is Florida and Florida occasionally likes to remind you that you are, in fact, in Florida. Readers mentioned a snake slithering across a resort walkway and an opossum appearing on the sidewalk at dusk and then, rather rudely, reappearing later like it was working a shift. Do not feed the wildlife And yes, there were pool closures. More than one reader mentioned accidents in pools that shut things down for days, including one guest who said the Hippy Dippy Pool at Pop Century remained closed for more than five days after an incident and smelled heavily of chemicals when it reopened. Another mentioned poop in the pool at both Animal Kingdom Lodge and Pop Century. This is your annual reminder that “pool closed for maintenance” can be doing a lot of heavy lifting. Nightmare vs. Fever Dream To be fair, not all of the responses were grim. Some were just the kind of bizarre Disney-vacation moments that become family legend forever. Beverage Station A woman walking away from the Animal Kingdom Lodge concierge with an entire cheese wheel. A child licking the handrail. A little girl licking all the lemons in the food court cooler. Girls walking barefoot through the All-Star Movies lobby and cafeteria in bikinis. A guest giving everyone strolling past their first-floor room a deeply unwanted view because the curtains were wide open and the lights were on. The BoardWalk guests apparently serving side-eye so intense it became part of another family’s permanent resort memory. Serving Stations And honestly? This is where the DFB community really shines. Because even when the stories are weird, gross, frustrating, or straight-up bananas, y’all know how to tell them. Half cautionary tale, half stand-up set, all vacation folklore. Nightmares Beyond the Hotels A handful of reader responses were definitely nightmarish, but they happened in the parks, on transportation, or at Disney Springs rather than at Disney World hotels. That included stories about fights in EPCOT, people throwing up in bushes at Hollywood Studios, a child being forced onto Haunted Mansion, a rough moment in the Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure queue, and a few ride-related memories that, while intense, weren’t resort-hotel situations. There were also a couple of “the most nightmarish thing is the bill” answers, which, listen… fair. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure Those comments could absolutely fuel their own separate post, because apparently, the chaos was not content to stay inside one category. What This Really Tells Us Underneath the bugs, buffet fingers, plumbing disasters, and late-night screaming matches, there’s a pretty simple message here. Disney World hotels work best when guests remember they’re sharing the space. Hippy Dippy Pool at Disney’s Pop Century Resort That means supervising kids at the pool. It means respecting lifeguards and Cast Members. It means not turning the lobby into a gymnastics showcase, not treating the buffet like a petting zoo, not screaming outside someone’s door at 2AM, and not assuming the resort is your personal kingdom just because you paid to be there. Our readers also highlighted several moments where Disney staff responded quickly and professionally to stressful situations, whether that meant maintenance arriving fast, management clearing a scene, or lifeguards stepping in when things got serious. Thanks, Cast Members! And it also means giving grace. Because sometimes the “nightmare” is a maintenance issue. Sometimes it’s bad timing. Sometimes it’s a kid melting down, a parent at the end of their rope, or a truly rotten bit of luck in the middle of an otherwise wonderful trip. Not every bad moment is bad behavior. Sometimes vacation plans go sideways. Sometimes they go fully off the monorail beam. But very often, those are the stories families tell for years. Pop Century Resort Lobby Check-In Not always fondly at first, maybe. But eventually? The leaking ceiling becomes lore. The possum becomes a character. The weird resort mishap becomes the thing everybody references at Thanksgiving forever. So yes, Disney World is supposed to be magical. It’s also full of real people, real stress, real weather, real exhaustion, and the occasional deeply cursed buffet encounter. That’s why being a conscientious guest matters so much. Time to eat! Because when everybody does their part, Disney hotels get to be what they’re meant to be: safe, fun, memorable places to land at the end of a long park day. Preferably without silverfish in the drawers or someone licking the lemons. And as always, we have to say it: the DFB community understood the assignment. These stories were chaotic, hilarious, horrifying, and wildly specific in the best possible way. So if you’ve ever had your own Disney hotel “you will not BELIEVE what happened” moment…trust us, you are very much not alone. 10. There are a lot of restaurants in Disney World, and we’ve eaten at them all, so when you’re asking us to pick a favorite, we’ll usually say, “Well, it depends.” Some restaurants are better for families, and some for special occasions, but there are a few restaurants we’ll always recommend because we just love them that much. Let’s go to Jiko! We’re heading to Jiko — The Cooking Place at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge to see if it continues to live up to our standards. Sit back, relax, and be ready to book a dining reservation, because Jiko might be continuing to impress us over and over again. Atmosphere Jiko is located at Animal Kingdom Lodge, which incorporates African culture, animals, and beautiful scenery. There were huge windows along the restaurant that looked out and brought in sunlight, and made the whole meal so relaxing. Dinner with the view There were booths, tables, and a room at the counter. The counter is actually “the cooking place,” which is what “jiko” translates to from Swahili. The Cooking Place Most tables are smaller for a more intimate setting. You can check out their huge wood-fired ovens, and if you look up, you can see a huge hidden Mickey, one of the biggest in Disney World. Do you see the hidden Mickey? There were beautiful birds along the ceiling that looked like they were flying through the restaurant, and you can also check out their huge selection of wines. Welcome to Jiko It’s a beautiful space to celebrate a special occasion or have a date night, and it’s our ideal place to escape the chaos of the parks. More seating Menu This restaurant focuses on African cuisine and is one of Disney’s Signature Dining, which just means fine dining. It’s open from 5 PM to 9:30 PM for dinner and has a dress code where clothing should be “clean, neat, and in good condition. Please no swimwear.” You won’t have to get totally dressed up, but it might be good to slide on something a little nicer. You’ll also want to book an Advanced Dining Reservation, but some same-day reservations may be available. The menu They offer a few different appetizers… ©Disney …entress… ©Disney …enhancements or sides… ©Disney …and desserts. ©Disney They also have a lot of fun drinks, including their Loose Leaf Specialty Teas, which serve two… ©Disney …coffee, cocktails, and dessert wines. ©Disney They also offer a kids’ menu. ©Disney Enough about the menu, let’s eat! Eats Our meal started with Giraffe Bread and Butter, which came to the table, and what a fantastic way to begin this adventure. Giraffe Bread The bread gets its name from the patterning on top, which is caused by a rice-flour coating that cracks when baked. The rice flavor comes through when you try it, which is quite different from what you’re likely used to. The bread is both dense and fluffy, with a great, airy texture, but it tears apart easily and holds onto the butter perfectly. There was a unique salt on top that balanced some of the butter’s tanginess, and the butter was creamy and saucy. The tanginess almost reminded us of sour cream, but not in an off-putting way. It was really enjoyable, and who doesn’t love free bread on the table? The butter was creamy and perfect One of our appetizers was the Diver Scallop with Pork Belly, priced at $19. This is a Seared Scallop, Sumac-roasted Pork Belly, Corn Cream, Mustard Caviar, and Fennel Crisp. Diver Scallop with Pork Belly The first word that comes to mind is YUM! Seriously, this dish was so good. The pork belly and scallop melted so easily in your mouth and were so tender and incredible. The scallop had a perfect sear and wasn’t overly seafood-y, so if you’re on the fence of seafood, this can be a great way to try it, but also still have the pork belly there if you’re here for the meat. Look at that pork belly! The pork belly wasn’t overly salty and had a good amount of fat, which is classic for pork belly. There were crispy bits that reminded us of burnt ends, with their smoky, sweet flavors, and once you combine them with that perfect scallop, oh, it’s just so good. It was cooked just how we like it The whole thing sits on a sweet corn fennel puree, which was silky smooth and similar to grits or polenta, and brought in some earthy tones. Paired with the mustard caviar, it was a much-needed pop of acid and brought in a different texture, too. It’s fairly small to share since you only get one chunk of pork belly and one scallop, so it might be good if you want it all to yourself. Digging in We also tried the West African Koki Corn for $16, which features Mushrooms, Pickled Vegetables, Avocado-Tomatillo Puree, and a Roasted Red Pepper Sauce. West African Koki Corn If you’re expecting a bowl of corn or something like elote, you’ll be very surprised when it’s more like a tamale! There was a great corn taste as the base, similar to the tamale base, which was a little grainy and perfectly moist, but there wasn’t much flavor beyond corn. Don’t worry — that’s why the sauces are here. The corn is a plain base to dress up with flavorful sauces. Raise your hand if you’re a sauce person! The roasted red pepper sauce was smoky, reminiscent of a red sauce on tamales, while the green sauce was bright and herbaceous. There was a light spice in the sauces, but nothing too overwhelming, and it didn’t linger. The pickled mushrooms and onions on top brought a punch of acid and were balanced nicely with the spice of the sauces and the earthiness of the corn. This appetizer is significantly easier to share because of its size! Inside For our entree, we went with the Short Rib Isitambu for $54, which is a Merlot-braised Beef Short Rib, Cracked Hominy, Sea Peas, and Fragrant Masala. Short Rib Isatambu You can’t go wrong with short rib! You can tell that the short rib was slow cooked because it was so tender and shredded easily. The sauce on top was similar to a red wine reduction and reminded us of a high-end, sweet-and-savory barbecue sauce. It wasn’t too sweet and stayed on the savory side, but was such a great addition to the dish. Look at that glaze! The isitambu is like a bean stew, which wasn’t our favorite thing on the plate, but let’s be real, you’re here for the short rib! It had a lot of great texture and was hearty, but it really just tasted like beans. There was also some squash and sea salt on top, which added a pop of saltiness and played into the sweet-and-savory vibe. SO tender Finally, our fantastic meal was rounded off with the Potjie Pot for $17, featuring Chocolate Custard, Lemon-Olive Oil Cake, Whipped Caramel, Cocoa Nib Crunch, and Cherries. Potjie Pot Now THIS is the best way to end a nice dinner at Jiko. If you loved all the other parts of your meal, you’re really going to enjoy ending it with dessert. The lemon olive oil cake was bright and citrusy without being overly oily. It was more on the side of lemon cake versus olive oil cake, but it was fluffy and delicious. There were a bunch of other layers, like a thick, fluffy chocolate mousse that was so smooth on your spoon and brought a gorgeous milk chocolate flavor. SO many layers There was also a buttery caramel fluff, and if it came in a bottle, we would eat it by the spoonful. It was buttery but not too buttery, and was seriously perfect caramel. There, cocoa nibs along the bottom added a much-needed crunch and deeper chocolate flavor. All the layers were distinct and matched well together without being too soft and held up well on the spoon. The cherries brought in a bite of tartness, but there were very few cherries, so it wasn’t overwhelming. We could eat this forever Drinks We started with the Prickly Pear Mule for $17.50, which is made with VUSA African Vodka, Belle de Brillet Pear Liqueur, Prickly Pear, Ginger Beer, and Lime. Prickly Pear Mule If you love other mules, you’re going to love this. It was fun and bright, with a strong lime flavor, and the sharpness of the ginger beer to finish it off without being too powerful. Prickly pear tastes like a watermelon and strawberry combined, so it reminded us of a fruit punch flavor but with more lime, turning it into more of a lime-aid flavor. There was not a strong alcohol flavor, making it good for those just dabbling in drinks, and it was a gorgeous pink in the iconic copper mule mug. While there are more unique drinks on the menu, this is a nice twist on the classic Moscow Mule and a great drink to sip on throughout your drink. We love the color, too Nosh or Not Go ahead and book that reservation at Jiko if… You’re looking for a fancy dinner — Jiko is on the more expensive side of Disney World food, so we like to save it for special occasions. It’s perfect for an anniversary date night where you can order a lovely glass of wine, appetizers, entrees, and end with a delectable dessert! You’re staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge or want to visit — While we love this resort, there’s no doubt that it’s pretty out of the way for most guests. If you’re already staying there, perfect, and if you want to visit, you can take a bus, or you can park for free if you show them the dining reservations. You want a more unique dining experience — Jiko focuses on African cuisine, and that might be a bit out of your realm. The staff members are incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and explain all of the items so you can try new foods and understand what you’re eating. You might want to skip if… You prefer familiar flavors — Hey, we get it! Sometimes you don’t want to explore new cuisines for every single meal, and sometimes it sounds good to sit back with a pizza, burgers, and French fries. Jiko’s menu is more on the unique side that picky eaters and kids might not be a fan of. You’re looking for a quick and affordable meal — A huge part of African cuisine is the idea of slow cooking, and this is not a dinner to be rushed. It’s a great meal to sit over and savor the flavors, but if you’re in a rush, you might want to check out eating at the bar or head to a different restaurant. You’re not already going to Animal Kingdom Lodge — This goes along the same line of, if you’re looking for a fast meal, Jiko likely isn’t conveniently located to make it fast. There are some resorts that are very easy to get to, but because of the animals, Animal Kingdom Lodge is very far away from just about everything, so unless you’re dying to see the resort or already staying there, you can likely find another fancy restaurant closer. Jiko Overall We’re basically blown away every time we go to Jiko in Animal Kingdom Lodge. They have fantastic dishes that are truly melt in your mouth, and you can taste the long hours of cooking and love incorporated into the dishes. They also have an incredible drink and wine menu, and paired with knowledgeable staff, it can be a great way to try something new but still have some familiarity. 12. What happens when The Greatest Show in Sports takes over The Happiest Place on Earth? A fast-paced day full of nonstop fun, Disney magic, and a bit of baseball! The Savannah Bananas have landed in SoCal, and delighted fans yesterday at Disneyland Resort with their signature spectacle of choreography, comedy, and crowd-pleasing entertainment. For those in attendance, the split-tacular schedule was jam-packed with lively performances, player interactions, special surprise moments, and lots of themed merchandise or banana-flavored bites and beverages to enjoy. It was a true taste of what makes Banana Ball such a sensation, being a spontaneous, joy-filled show where absolutely anything can happen. Among the standout stars of the day was Derek Klena, who joined the Bananas for the 2026 season as an entertainment player and pitcher, bringing his own theatrical flair and powerhouse stage presence to a team known for their distinctive mix of athleticism and showmanship. We caught up with Derek ahead of the team’s visit to talk about how Disney Parks influenced his impressive Broadway career, what it’s like stepping onto the field with the Savannah Bananas, and how this day at Disneyland felt like coming home to his Southern California roots. Growing Up a Disneyland Local For many Southern California residents, Disneyland is a formative piece of childhood, and that was certainly the case for Derek, who grew up not far from Anaheim in West Covina, California. He recalls Disneyland Resort as a place where he spent much of his time in those early years thanks to annual passes gifted by his grandparents, enjoying endless magical moments alongside his two younger siblings and parents. When asked about any favorite Disneyland traditions from his childhood, Derek mentioned parades as something that were always a must-see and remain one of his most treasured components of any Disney day. Adventureland and New Orleans Square are two of his favorite areas throughout the parks. He remembers many nights hurrying to Pirates of the Caribbean and Indiana Jones Adventure just before park close, and called the Enchanted Tiki Room a “staple of childhood.” And he loves hopping on the Disneyland Railroad at Mickey’s Toontown (especially after a long day of walking; I know we’ve all been there) to ride to the front of the park, of course traveling back in time to see the dinosaurs along the way! Derek’s Disneyland Resort Must-Do’s Attractions: Indiana Jones Adventure, Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and Toy Story Midway Mania! Food Items: A bread bowl from Royal Street Veranda and a churro Photo Spots: Classic castle photo (ideally as the sun is setting) and a fun ride photo (like Tiana’s Bayou Adventure or Space Mountain) Souvenirs: Anything from the Main Street Magic Shop, or a Silhouette Portrait Derek had many Disney touchpoints outside of the parks through his childhood, naming Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Hercules and The Hunchback of Notre Dame as two of his most-watched animated films that still inspire and influence him today as an artist. He even recalled Disney’s Sing-Along Songs on VHS being one of his most vivid early memories and interactions with Disney music. His love for Disney of course also started on stage, with Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at the old Shubert Theatre in Los Angeles being the first professional show he ever saw. He shared that this was the first time his mom noticed that both he and his sister had an interest in music, which prompted her to enroll them in classes and local theatre. How fitting, as the current reimagined touring production of Beauty and the Beast is set to stop in Los Angeles this summer — maybe it will change the course of someone’s career like it did Derek’s. From Southern California to the Stage That performance of Beauty and the Beast sparked something in Derek, who began taking voice and dance lessons shortly afterwards. He eventually started performing with local children’s theaters in Southern California, doing multiple shows a year as part of these community theatre groups, which allowed him to explore and develop this passion from a young age. He soon began auditioning for productions throughout the region, fondly remembering his mom searching for casting calls in magazines. Derek said that his Disney beginnings — especially watching shows like “Fantasmic!” and “Mickey and the Magical Map” — gave him his lifelong love for music and inspired him to pursue this path seriously. If you’re a theatre fan (like me), you may recognize Derek from any number of shows that he has done throughout his career. He originated roles in acclaimed productions such as Dogfight, The Bridges of Madison County, Anastasia, and Jagged Little Pill, playing a role for which he received a Tony Award nomination. Derek also went on to join beloved shows on the Great White Way like Wicked and Moulin Rouge, solidifying his status as a bright Broadway star. But theatre isn’t Derek’s only interest. He also grew up loving sports and attended UCLA where he played college baseball. He remembers attending games at Angel Stadium as a child, even pitching in a high school championship game that took place there his senior year. Another memorable moment, knowing that the Savannah Bananas are playing two games there this week. It wasn’t always easy to find the balance between these ventures, though, and there came a time when he needed to decide between pitching on the field or performing on the stage. Even though he chose the latter, Derek has now found his way back to baseball by way of the Savannah Bananas. A Home Run with the Savannah Bananas This is as full circle as it gets for Derek, seeing how all of his different passions shaped his path and led him to this opportunity with the Savannah Bananas. I asked if he could have ever imagined that his skills and interests would converge in this way, and Derek’s answer? His 13-year-old self-manifested this dream coming true. He shared that as a young teenager, he was featured on a television program showcasing America’s most talented children, and in his introduction proudly stated that his goal was to play professional baseball and sing the National Anthem before the game. There’s the classic Disney Channel dilemma that you must choose between music and sports (looking at you, Troy Bolton), but Derek now gets to experience the best of both worlds after simply speaking it into existence all those years ago. Derek said that the possibilities feel endless as part of the Savannah Bananas, and he has shared this mindset with students that he mentors and teaches. His successes are proof you can pursue both athletics and the arts, with the Bananas merging both worlds in an unexpected way and continuing to push the boundaries of entertainment. And his whole family was in town for the Savannah Bananas Day at Disneyland, including his two children, one of whom celebrated their first Disney Park visit on this trip! Derek shared, “To have them all watch me live both my passions in one place that is already so special and sentimental, now playing Banana Ball, it’s kind of surreal.” When talking about how this role of a lifetime came to be, Derek credits Broadway composers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul as the ones who pitched him to Savannah Bananas owner Jesse Cole, believing that he had the necessary combination of attributes and experiences to represent the team. Knowing that Derek had played college baseball and had an extensive resume of theatre credits, Jesse invited him to send in a taped audition and then later travel to Savannah, where he showed off his knack for both pitching and performing. And as you may have guessed, the rest is history. Bringing Banana Ball Back to Disneyland The Savannah Bananas are not your traditional baseball team — there is a blend of elements like theatricality, fan engagement, and specific rules that make games a dynamic, joyful spectacle. As our conversation came to a close, I was curious to ask Derek why he believed Disneyland feels like the right place for the Bananas to again bring this energy and unique form of entertainment. “Disneyland originated being The Happiest Place on Earth, and I feel like that’s what we’re trying to do with Banana Ball,” he explained. “That is what’s so admirable about Disneyland or any Disney Park, really, is creating an atmosphere that feels safe and inventive, where you can dream big and be accepted, where you can have fun and everybody leaves with a smile. And I feel like that is the environment we are creating, that’s what we have strived towards with the fan-first mentality.” Whether it’s spectators in stadium seats or audience members at a Broadway show, Derek is using his talents to create happiness and encourage others to chase even the biggest of dreams, which feels perfectly aligned with everything we do here at Disney. His story serves as a reminder that anything is possible, and seeing him bring his love of performance to a whole new stage at Disneyland this week alongside his Bananas teammates was an unforgettable experience. 14. Grab your fancy hats and let’s head to the newly reopened Garden View Lounge — Tea Experience at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. Garden View Tea Room This experience reopened for the first time since the 2020 closures, and we couldn’t be more excited to share all the details with you. From what the best teas are, how adorable every snack-sized bite is, and the overall aesthetic, sit back and relax, and be ready to book a reservation because you’ll want to get here immediately. Atmosphere The whole space has been renovated and is absolutely stunning. There are touches from Alice in Wonderland incorporated throughout. There are massive windows that bring in natural sunlight, and comfortable seating with pillows and cushions. We loved the stained-glass details featuring birds, which tie into the Grand Floridian’s overall theming. It’s SO pretty in here! There are some Hidden Mickeys throughout the carpet, too. Hidden Mickeys! We were even obsessed with the designs on the teacups and plates, and it made the whole experience feel fancy and beautiful. SO pretty Advanced Reservations are highly recommended for the experience, especially in the beginning, since it will be so popular. You can do that directly on the Disney World website or app. Menu The menu has the Tea Room Experience priced at $79 per adult and $49 for children ages 3 to 9, plus tax and gratuity for both. From there, you can choose from the Twinnings Loose Leaf Tea Selections, which include offerings like Orangery of Lady Grey, Redbush Caramel Velvet, and classic options like Longdon Strand Breakfast. ©Disney The Afternoon Tea Tower includes small bites all themed to Alice in Wonderland, like the Caterpillar Cucumber Roll, Tea Party Tart, Painting the Rose, and more. ©Disney There’s also a Children’s Afternoon Tea, which is available for adults to order as well, and you can either replace an Adult Afternoon Tea with it or add it on as an additional charge for $49. It has more bites geared toward kids, like a Sunflower Seed Butter and Jelly Bun, Queen of Hearts Cheese Toastie, and White Rabbit Cupcake. ©Disney You can also choose from the Plant-Based Afternoon Tea selection… ©Disney …and Gluten/Wheat Allergy Friendly Afternoon Tea. ©Disney If you’re looking for more, you can grab some Enhancements, including Seasonal Cheese Selection for $21 and Royal Ossetra Caviar with Mini Chive Biscuits and Traditional Accompaniments for $120. You can also grab Cocktails, Champagnes, Sparkling Wines, and Non-Alcoholic Specialty Teas. ©Disney Enough about the menu, we’re ready to dive in! Eats Before the tea and food came out, our server brought over warm, rose-scented towels to wipe our hands, which was a nice touch. Rose-scented towels You’ll also get to smell each of the teas as the server describes them before you decide on what you want to drink. We thought this was extremely helpful, especially if you don’t have tea drinkers in your party. Our server, Tyler, did a great job explaining all the teas and the notes, and was knowledgeable to help us decide which ones we wanted to try. Smelling the teas Then, some warm Cranberry-Orange Scones with accompaniments were brought to the table. The scone was wonderful — it wasn’t too dry, it stayed nice and moist with that buttery, crumbly texture you’d expect from one. The cranberries and orange bits added a bit of tartness to the otherwise rich pastry, and we loved the accompaniments as well. Orange Cranberry Scones The accompaniments included Whipped Butter, Orange Marmalade, and Devonshire Cream. Our favorites were the Devonshire Cream (which added a lovely, sweet creaminess to each bite) and the Orange Marmalade (which complemented the orange in the scone SO well and was equally tart and sweet). Scone Accompaniments Tea time! We had the Afternoon Tea Tower, which comes with three tiers of food. Afternoon Tea Tower We had the Curried Chicken Salad Playing Card Tart, which is savory curried chicken salad filling topped with cherry gelée. Curried Chicken Salad Playing Card Tart This was a great savory option with excellent textures. The chicken salad is tender and flavorful, with a hint of curry flavor — it wasn’t too overpowering, which allowed us to be able to taste the butteriness of the crust along with the sour (but sweet!) cherry gelée. Then we had the Footman’s Feast, which is a Wonderland Salmon Crisp with a salmon rillette on a miso brown butter crisp. Footman’s Feast This bite was also a hit — even for our reporter who doesn’t especially love salmon. There was a hint of that fish-forward flavor, but it wasn’t too fishy or overpowering. It tasted like smoked salmon, with that nice smoky, salty taste you’d expect. The miso brown-butter crisp complemented the soft texture of the rillette and added even more of a perfect, salty bite. Footman’s Feast Check out the Tweedledee Egg Salad Sandwich, which is a traditional egg salad on beet bread. This was a classic egg salad sandwich that had a hint of sweetness from the beet bread. It was served with crumbled bacon on it, which added a nice saltiness. It was pretty messy, and while it was cute, it didn’t really “wow” us — not that egg salad is particularly “wow” to begin with, but this felt like a missed opportunity. Tweedledee Egg Salad Sandwich Our final savory treat was the Caterpillar Cucumber Roll, which is a combination of butterfly pea-infused cream cheese and cucumbers on pumpernickel. This was a fun take on a traditional cucumber sandwich that you’d find at other tea services. It was bright and fresh-tasting, and we appreciated the presentation. The butterfly pea-infused cream cheese had a floral taste to it, and we think the sandwich could have benefited from an herb or two. It was very watery tasting. Caterpillar Cucumber Roll Now onto the sweets! We were obsessed with this Matcha Mad Hatter, which is a sponge cake with apricot jam and yuzu buttercream. Matcha Mad Hatter This was fluffy and enjoyable. The cake was dense, and the matcha was subtle and mostly on the outside, so it wasn’t an overly grassy or earthy flavor. The apricot jam and yuzu buttercream both added a fruity, citrus flavor. There was a good amount of icing, and we appreciated how adorable this was. Fair warning, though, it will stain your fingers green! Matcha Mad Hatter We also had the Tea Party Tart, which is a vanilla tart, coffee custard, and chantilly cream. Tea Party Tart This was another adorable dessert with decent flavors. We tasted more chocolate than coffee with this one, but the custard was still delicious. The chantilly cream was nice and light, but overall, this was just a bit boring. Tea Party Tart The Flamingo Croquet Choux, which is filled with passion fruit cream and raspberry crunch, was so pretty. Flamingo Croquet Choux We LOVED how this one looked — the reference was incredible. It tasted like a regular cream puff, but with a passion fruit cream instead of vanilla. The pastry itself was fluffy and spongy in texture, but we wish there had been more of a prominent fruit flavor to give this an extra punch. Flamingo Croquet Choux Finally, we ended on the Painting the Rose, which is an Earl Grey-flavored teacake painted tableside. Painting the Rose Our server came over and poured the red sauce on top as a reference to the Queen of Hearts, which tasted like strawberry to us. This was a fun and unique experience, but we think it would have been more fun if we had been able to pour the sauce on it ourselves. Taste-wise, this primarily tasted like buttercream icing with a hint of floral notes from the Earl Grey flavoring. We got a hint of rose flavoring in there as well. The cracker was a nice, shortbread flavor that had a great crunch. Painting the Rose We also opted to add on the Seasonal Cheese Selection for $21. From left to right, these cheeses were: Stilton Cheesecake (formerly served at Victoria & Albert’s — but this is now the only place you can find it!), Goat Cheese Tart with Tomato Confit, Truffle Whipped Brie with Oregano Bloom, and Comte with Quince Paste. There were also figs served on the side. Seasonal Cheese Selection To be honest, this cheese plate was the highlight of our tea experience. Each one was SO good. The Stilton Cheesecake was creamy and had that funkiness you’d expect from Stilton — even one of our reporters who doesn’t like funky cheeses liked this. The Goat Cheese Tart was strong, creamy, and smooth. We would have liked the phyllo to have been a bit crunchier, though. The Truffle Whipped Brie was incredible. The truffle scent was really strong, but it was on the mild side. It paired really well with the brie, which had a lovely texture. The Comte with Quince Paste was the least exciting cheese, but it was still lovely. The cheese was mild, but paired really well with the apple and pear flavors of the quince paste. The cheese plate was served with crispy crostini that tasted like it had been brushed with garlic butter. It was SO good! Crostini served with the cheese plate For the Children’s Afternoon Tea, it’s a little bit smaller but includes equally adorable bites. Children’s Afternoon Tea We began with the Queen of Hearts Cheese Toastie. This is a homemade cheese cracker with pimento cheese spread inside. We really liked this! It tasted like an extra toasty Cheez-It with a mild cheese spread inside. We think cheese-loving kiddos (and adults!) will love it. Queen of Hearts Toastie We dove into the Fanciful Turkey Wrap. This was slow-roasted turkey with tomato and lettuce on a wrap. This was your basic turkey wrap — there wasn’t anything too fanciful about it. Still, it had great flavor and was fresh tasting. It would probably be a great option for those with picky palettes who don’t love a ton of strong flavors. Fanciful Turkey Wrap This Sunflower Seed Butter and Jelly Bun was super fun, too. We loved the mushroom presentation of it. It was a bit salty from the sunflower seed butter, but the jelly added a nice sweetness that rounded everything out. The bun itself was a bit on the dry side, but we think the familiar flavors would be great for picky eaters. Sunflower Seed and Jelly Bun (the mushroom-looking treat!) How about this Cheshire Cat Raspberry Macaron? It’s SO cute. It tasted like any other raspberry macaron we’ve had. The pastry was mild with a hint of vanilla flavor, while the raspberry on the inside was perfectly sweet and tart. The best part was the presentation! Cheshire Cat Raspberry Macaron You can also try the Chocolate Brownie Branch. This was definitely a branch of chocolate! The outside was nice and crunchy with a great chocolate flavor. The brownie itself was dense and chewy, not light and fluffy like you might expect a brownie to be. Chocolate lovers will appreciate this! Chocolate Brownie Branch Finally, we ended on the White Rabbit Cupcake. This was your basic, vanilla Disney World cupcake, only a bit smaller. If you’ve ever been to a Disney World buffet, we’re pretty sure it’s exactly the same as the vanilla cupcakes you’d find for dessert during lunch or dinner. It was fine, but nothing to write home about. Kids will probably love it, though! White Rabbit Cupcake WHEW! That’s a LOT of little bites. Drinks To drink, we tried the Orangery of Lady Grey Tea. This tasted similar to an Earl Grey or Lady Grey tea, but with a hint of citrus notes — primarily orange. It was light and fragrant with hints of bergamot. If you’re a fan of classic black tea, we think you’ll like this! Orangery of Lady Grey Tea Next up, we had the Exotic Mango & Ginger Tea. This was a rich, fragrant blend of mango and ginger — it tasted fruity and tropical while being light thanks to the green tea. Exotic Mango & Ginger Tea The Lemongrass & Peppermint Tea was an herbal one that we tried. It was refreshing and fruity with sweet peppermint and created a smooth, herbal, citrus infusion. This one was also caffeine-free! Lemongrass & Peppermint Tea We also grabbed the Curiosi-TEA Refresher. This was made with Twinings Refreshers Strawberry Raspberry Herbal Tea with a touch of shimmering magic. It was nice and fruity, and we could really taste both the strawberry and raspberry for a sweet and tart combination. This is a great option for kids or those who aren’t big on tea flavors. Curiosi-TEA For some alcoholic libations, we picked up both that are offered on the menu here, starting with the Mar-TEA-Ni. This is made with Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin, Twinings Earl Grey Tea, Lemon, and Honey. We LOVED this. It was a great combination of lemon, honey, and Earl Grey with a bit of a kick from the gin. Fruity, a bit tart from the lemon, with a great tea flavor. Mar-TEA-Ni And, we also had the Mint Tulip. This is made with Old Forester 1870 Original Batch Kentucky Straight Whisky, Twinings Refreshers Peach Mango Herbal Tea, and Mint. It tasted like if peach iced tea and a traditional Mint Julep had a baby — it was delicious. The first flavors you’re hit with are whisky and mint, followed by a bit of fruitiness from the peach, and the final flavor is tea. It was complex, and we really liked it. Mint Tulip So, should you visit the Garden View Tea Room? Nosh or Not You have to head to the Tea Room if you… You’re looking for a unique dining experience — While you might not be adding this to every Disney World vacation, it’s a great way to do something different during your visit. It can also be great for special occasions and celebrations since it’s on the expensive side, but so much fun. You might want to skip if… You don’t love tea and are not looking for a fancy experience — While the desserts are super adorable, if you’re not into tea, you might not enjoy the overall experience. It’s also a fancier experience, and if you’re looking to keep it casual, you might want to head the other way. Overall This was a lovely experience, though we can’t help but feel like it’s expensive for what you get. At $79 per adult, you likely won’t leave hungry, but none of the bites we had really “wowed” us. We were hoping for more elevated flavors, and most of the desserts tasted like something you’d find in any Disney World bakery case. For the price, you’re definitely paying for the experience itself — which we did really enjoy. Our server, Tyler, was wonderful and SO knowledgeable about the teas and treats, and the atmosphere is truly lovely. Afternoon Tea Service We can see this being a great spot to celebrate something special, or if you’re just a really big fan of high tea. When compared to the $95 tea service at Cake Bake Shop, we still think we’d pick the Grand Floridian option for the atmosphere and grandeur alone. Otherwise, though, we think this is something you can probably skip — especially if you’re looking for a heartier meal. 15. There are a few ways to get shorter lines for rides in Disney World, including Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass, as well as Lightning Lane Premier Pass, all options that will cost you money. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run However, if you don’t want to pay for the privilege of skipping long standby lines, you also have another option at many rides: the single rider line. Now, this is an option for folks who don’t mind being put on a ride by themselves, but at one popular ride in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you might also have another option: a double rider line where you can go through the single rider line with a friend and ride together. This ride is Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and right now, the ride has a dedicated Single Rider Line. In case you’re not familiar with how these lines work, you get in a special single rider line that’s generally shorter than the standby line, and when Cast Members need to fill a single seat on a ride, they pull someone from that line for that empty seat. It generally means that you do not ride with others in your group, but that could be changing at Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. Single Rider Sign at Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run Previously, we have seen Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run taking two people in the single rider line at a time and putting them on the ride together, meaning that you could still ride with another friend, even in the shorter single rider line. We spoke with a Cast Member recently and were told that Disney is currently testing that out again, but note that we were not given a specific timeline on how long this testing would go on. Millennium Falcon Now, note that this doesn’t mean that if you and a friend get in the single rider line together at Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, you will get to ride together. Testing means just that…it’s not the ride’s current policy. You’re still likely to be split up if only one seat is available on the ride. However, it does mean that Disney is considering making that change, so you’ll want to keep an eye out to see if this becomes something more permanent. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run pre-show This comes ahead of the ride’s big update, which will add new scenes, higher quality graphics, a choice of locations to visit, new characters, and more. The new version of the ride will open on May 22nd to coincide with the release of The Mandalorian and Grogu movie in theaters. We’ll keep an eye out for more changes happening in Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for more. 8 Disney World Rides Experts REFUSE To Go On Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! 17. Here at Disney Food Blog, Disney World is our job. We’re at Disney all day, every day, sometimes walking up to four or five miles a day. Which means that our feet hurt a lot! Brooks Ghost 17 We’ve tried almost every pair of sneakers for sale to find the best shoes for Disney, and we’ve finally done it. And the best part? Our favorite shoes are on sale! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Brooks Women’s Ghost 17s The Brooks Women’s Ghost 17s have a balanced feel. It’s a blend of soft and dynamic cushioning that offers a smooth feeling with each step, and a comfy grip around the toe and front of the shoe that hugs but doesn’t squeeze too tightly. The cushioning makes you more bouncy and feel like you’re gliding as you step, rather than sending a full-on impact to your body with each foot drop. Bottom of the shoes They’re a little heavy at first to get used to out of the box, but after you walk around in them, you can start to feel them conform around your foot and give you extra cushion and bounce in the heel where you’ll need it most. These shoes have nitrogen-infused cushioning in the heel and forefoot, which makes you feel like you’re walking on a cloud! Brooks Ghost 17s The air mesh around the upper part of the shoe has been redesigned with a kickback collar and a breathable structure, so there’s great airflow, and you’re not super sweaty just from walking around in them. The updated midsole works with the flex grooves in the outsole to continue the support throughout the step and not just the initial impact. Brooks Ghost 17s If you’re not someone who likes a firm grip around your foot, you might want to err on the safe side and size up a half or full size. These have extra cushioning everywhere, including the inside of the heel, which might feel a little restrictive if you’re not used to having your foot snuggly in your shoe. The only con to these shoes was that we struggled with sizing, but once we sized up, we could walk for miles at Disney with zero foot issues! Brooks Ghost 17s The Brooks Women’s Ghost 17s are typically marketed for runners, but anyone looking for a well-fitting, comfortable shoe that supports long walks will love these. These shoes are pricey, there’s no denying that, but they go above and beyond on comfort and ease on your feet. Brooks offers a 90-day test run if you order them directly from the manufacturer. If you don’t love them, you’re able to return them for free! So what are you waiting for? 19. The 2026 EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival is here, and there’s one snack that has become very popular! Lan Yuan full spread The Flower and Garden Festival is happening now until June 1st, and we have already reviewed every single Flower and Garden Festival Food Booth for you. For this snack, we’re going to head to the Food Booth that is now known as Lan Yuan Outdoor Kitchen in the China pavilion. Certain bites were great with a light crunch from the sugar, but then in other bites, we found the sugar too thick. We wish it were a thinner covering, but it does get bonus points for being very picture-worthy. Now that could change, especially since we went on the first day of the festival — so we’re not saying this is the norm, but just our experience. Read Our Full Review of Lan Yuan Booth Here! Lan Yuan Outdoor Kitchen When we tried this, we had several guests stop to ask us where to find it. If you’re hoping to grab this treat (to either eat or photograph), be sure to head to EPCOT by June 1st. 20. Before the more than 20 festival food booths open each morning at EPCOT, dozens of culinary cast members like Warren Clarke are working behind the scenes to put the finishing touches on dishes that thousands of guests enjoy daily. Warren is a saucier who has spent nearly 20 years growing his career and honing his skills at Walt Disney World Resort. His team helps find the perfect sauce pairing for all the festival foods. Here’s how. The Art of Disney Festival Sauces Months before a festival begins, Warren and team are busy doing real-world testing and turning each creative idea into the foundational flavors enjoyed by millions of guests. From sauces to dressings, the sauciers carefully create, cook, and season hundreds of gallons of festival staples. “Sometimes, we make over 500 gallons a day,” Warren says with a laugh. As with any testing, it takes some trial and error. When the team was developing a Miso Cola sauce for the festival, Warren noticed it kept coming out a bit too sweet. “I could tell it needed a few adjustments,” he said. “So, I took my time, changed the order of ingredients, and it came out really well. I hope the guests enjoy it!” Want to try it? You can find it at the Trowel and Trellis booth near Disney Traders! Cooking Up a Disney Career How did Warren become a saucier at Disney? Glad you asked. His career was shaped one kitchen at a time… literally! He started behind the scenes in food handling and receiving, then moved into roles at Coral Reef Restaurant and Sunshine Seasons, building skills with every stop before specializing with the festival team. “I realized whatever you can do outside of Disney is right here within the company,” he said. With each new role, he sharpened his skills and developed a sense of pride that radiates through his work, “I like that people appreciate what I do,” he said. “It makes me feel really grateful.” That pride and attention to detail is part of what earned Warren the Walt Disney Legacy Award. It’s the highest honor a cast member can receive, recognized by peers for the positive impact they make every day. Where to Try Warren’s Sauce at EPCOT If you visit this year’s EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival, you have to try the pigeon pea rice Warren helped create. It’s inspired by his Caribbean roots, which is paired with Jamaican Jerk Chicken, bringing island-inspired flavor to the festival’s limited-time lineup. You can find it at La Isla Fresca, located between the France and Morocco pavilions. “What excites me most is seeing guests enjoy the dishes and knowing I was part of creating them. Sometimes I’m walking through the park and see someone eating something I made, and that feels really good.” Want to find and taste all the flavors that Warren and the talented Food & Beverage team bring to life? 26. There’s just something special about visiting the World Showcase in EPCOT and experiencing all the fun of different cultures in one day! Hello little dragon! Of course, it’s particularly fun to visit spots around the park where you can find unique offerings, cool snacks, and fun souvenirs. One thing that returned to EPCOT recently happens to fit in all three of those categories! Years ago, you used to be able to get spun sugar art made in the China Pavilion, and it was INCREDIBLE. We last saw this offering at the 2020 International Festival of the Arts, and we’ve been missing it ever since. Wenbo Zhang artistry on display Well, now the sugar art is BACK, BABY! We stopped by House of Good Fortune on a recent visit and spotted an artist working her magic with the sugar. The display The cost varies depending on the intricacy of your design, and our dragon was on the more expensive end. It took about 10 minutes total to make, so this is definitely not a grab-and-go experience. It was so fascinating to watch the artist make the candy, though. We found ourselves mesmerized! Prices The candy itself is pretty sickly sweet because it’s mostly sugar. It had a bit of a maple-honey-like flavor, but other than that, it was just straight-up sweetness. It’s very hard but breaks easily, and pieces can snap off if you’re not careful when carrying it around. The Dragon! We would definitely do this again to watch the art in progress and to share the experience with friends or family, but if you’re doing it just for the flavor of the snack, you might be disappointed. The results are absolutely stunning, and this is a great addition to the China Pavilion. It’s so beautiful We’ll be on the lookout for more new additions to World Showcase in the future. 27. We love The Polite Pig at Disney Springs. It’s a quick-service barbecue restaurant with such high-quality meats that it’s earned a Michelin Guide Recommended spot. The Polite Pig So when we saw they had a brand new burger, we had to try it! Spoiler alert: this is the most unique burger we’ve tried at Disney Springs. The Not So Polite Burger is $23 at The Polite Pig in Disney Springs. This is a burger with a beef and pork patty between a pretzel bun, packed with lettuce, tomato, potato sticks, onion rings, green sauce, Layla’s BBQ sauce, and topped with a tequeño. This guy is stuffed! Not So Polite Burger The pretzel bun was super fluffy with a crispy crust, just like a real pretzel. This patty tasted a lot like a meatball – it’s pretty heavy and was slightly sweet. The crispy potato sticks added a satisfying crunch and contributed to a great mix of textures. The lettuce and tomato were fresh and lightened the heaviness of the burger patty. The BBQ sauce was sweet with a hint of tang, but it quickly became messy since this burger is covered in sauce. We could barely taste the onion rings or green sauce because of how flavorful the other components were! Not So Polite Burger The teqeño on top was a fun surprise. This is basically the Venezuelan version of a mozzarella stick; it’s deep-fried white cheese wrapped in a crispy dough. The dough was slightly sweet, which balanced out the burger, and it added a nice crunch to the burger. We wish they sold these on their own! Not So Polite Burger We’d recommend the Not So Polite Burger to anyone at Disney who wants something unlike anything they’ve ever had before. This is one of the most unique burgers we’ve ever tried! It was a hodgepodge of BBQ, Italian, and South American flavors that somehow complemented each other very well. It was also very sweet with the addition of the BBQ sauce, so it had a sweet and savory flavor profile that blended well together. Not So Polite Burger We try the newest food at Disney World every single day. Stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for more Disney food reviews! A BRAND-NEW Pop-Up Restaurant Is Now Open in Disney Springs!
