This is because January 17th is the day that Rise of the Resistance comes to Disneyland and Festival of the Arts kicks off in Disney World! OH…PLUS LOTS MORE! Disneyland Resort Rise of the Resistance Rise of the Resistance will officially make its way to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland on January 17th. And because we know how truly epic this ride is from experiencing the attraction in Disney World earlier this month, we are seriously excited for its debut on the West coast!! Rise of the Resistance Rise of the Resistance is definitely the star of Galaxy’s Edge thanks to its leading technology. The attraction includes 3 different ride systems, multiple levels, and over 3oo animatronics! On the ride, guests join the Resistance and will have to escape from the First Order after being captured. See our FULL REVIEW HERE! INSIDE Star Wars Rise of the Resistance! Lunar New Year The Lunar New Year will officially kick off at Disney California Adventure on January 17th and will run through February 9th, 2020. Lunar New Year in Disney California Adventure 2020 is the Year of the Mouse (AAAAAH SO PERFECT!) and DCA will celebrate this big year with “multicultural performances, fun-filled activities, beautiful décor, delicious cuisine, and specialty merchandise.” 2019 Lunar New Year Characters will greet around the park, and Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession will be making its way back to Disney California Adventure too. Disney World Now, let’s head on over to Disney World to see what happenings are taking place on January 17th there! Epcot’s International Festival of the Arts Epcot’s International Festival of the Arts will officially kick off on January 17th, 2020. It will run until February 24th and should be filled with stunning artwork and delicious food. Luncheon of the Boating Party by Pierre-Auguste Renoir The festival features Food Studios, which are food booths similar to what you see at Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival. But while Food and Wine eats are always gorgeous, Festival of the Arts focuses even MORE on presentation. Disney on Broadway Speaking of Epcot’s International Festival of the Arts, one of its main events, Disney on Broadway, also kicks off on January 17th! Disney on Broadway The Disney on Broadway Concert Series features performances by some of Broadway’s most accomplished actors who have starred in Disney Broadway Musicals. At the America Gardens Theatre, these performers sing some of Disney’s most beloved tunes. Performances take place each night at 5:30 PM, 6:45 PM, and 8:00 PM. Canada Far and Wide Disney recently shared that the new film coming to the Canada Pavilion, known as Canada Far and Wide would be opening on January 17th, 2019. (You probably know them from Schitt’s Creek, but I know them from ALLLLLL the Christopher Guest films and I CAN’T WAIT!) Awesome Planet Another film that’s making its way to Epcot on January 17th is Awesome Planet. This new film is coming to The Land Pavilion and will be “an on-screen exploration of the realm we call home,” and “showcases the spectacular beauty, diversity and dynamic story of our earth with all the grandeur guests have come to expect.” Crystal clear, right? Awesome Planet Sign The film will feature “spectacular nature photography, immersive in-theater effects, and space sequences created by none other than Industrial Light & Magic (which provided the cinematic foundation for the Star Wars franchise),” to deliver an impactful environmental message. Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along And last but not least, the NEW Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along is also opening up in the France Pavilion at Epcot on January 17th.
