There’s a new pineapple snack in town, and you’re going to want to sit down for this. It’s Pineapple. Upside Down. Cake. With. DOLE WHIP!

IKR?!? You know how we love Dole Whip — that refreshing pineapple soft serve that’s dairy free and oh. so. good. It’s part sweet, part tart, all frozen, and all Must-EAT Snack Material.

Now the geniuses in Disney World Dining Innovation (we made this up, but it should be a thing!) have one-upped the Dole Whip by putting it on top of a really lovely, soft pineapple upside down cake.

It’s so new that you won’t find it on the Aloha Isle menu online yet, but we had to try it ASAP — so we grabbed a pic of the menu for you. There’s no description, but it’s pretty straightforward.

You get an individually sized round pineapple upside cake that’s packed, actually, with pineapple chunks. It’s incredibly moist, with the juice of the pineapple soaking through most of the cake.

The cake itself isn’t overly sweet, which is a good balance to the pineapple. And it’s soft, which it would want to be in order to dance with the Dole Whip.

There are also two halves of a Maraschino Cherry hiding under the Dole Whip swirl. If you don’t care for them, don’t fret. They’re barely noticeable and easy to remove (once you find them under the Dole Whip).

And then there’s the generous swirl of Dole Whip on top (you can get the Pinapple/Vanilla twist or just Vanilla if you prefer). It’s that simple! One important (and key!) thing to note: the cake is not warmed up. And for once, this is a good thing because Dole Whip doesn’t need any help to start the melting process.

The whole thing is pretty sweet (although less sweet than the Dole Whip Float, which some folks have a hard time with, sweet-wise), but the tartness of the pineapple works to cut through some of that sweetness. And it’s not overly heavy, probably owing to it not having a dense frosting. And while it’s probably enough to share between two moderate pineapple fans, big time Dole Whip fans probably won’t wanna. ;)
